Beautiful area! We loved learning about the lock and dams. Employee at the trading post was super friendly, and the park was very clean. We went for a mini-hike on a trail near the river collecting geocaches. There is even a cool overlook on the side of the hill.

Me and my children went with a whole bunch of people on a fishing trip. We had a great time. The picnic area was clean and spacious and after fishing we cooked out in the picnic area. I even caught some pretty decent fish. (My first time fishing)

Love this part of the river, simply because the dam causes the perfect amount of white water noise to be oh so soothing.

Very knowledgeable friendly people. The staff at this location treat you like family. Very knowledgeable about the park and the River. The location has bait and tackle. Nice veriaty of fishing supplies. The prices are very good to be so convenient because the closest other store is about 15 minutes or so away.

Its a great campground on the coosa river. We used to go several times a year. But ever since floods, theres little access for off bank fishing.

Good fishing. Overall its a clean park with the exception of the occasional disrespectful visitor that wont clean up after themselves at the fish cleanin table or fishing area. A lot people will come and go to fish at the lock but the park remains peaceful. Staff is always very pleasant an professional. We typically camp there 3-4 times a yr an have done so for the past few years and have never had an issue. The pavilions are great but if you want to be more in the woods they have nice spots. If you tent camp that area is awesome. To be honest I think Id rather dry camp my Jayco in that area than up front but I like having the power and the water. Rates per night are very reasonable but I are am finding that this little gem of areas campground is getting better known. Used to be I could call 2 days in advance to reserve a spot and the last 2 times I had to reserve as far out as 3-4 weeks. I hate that but its worth the wait. And if you need something there is a corner store about 10 minutes down the road and a Walmart is about a 20-30 minutes drive. They also have a small bait shop in the office but if they dont have what you are lookin for there is a bait shop next to the corner store.

We were here over the 4th of July in the full hook up sites, big mistake, this is where the monthly campers park! One sites had a dog tied up outside all day and night that would bark at anything, how the people inside could not hear was beyond me. Yes, I reported it to the office, the kid lied to me and said he would look into it, why would he tell his friends to shape up? I guess there are no rules in this park and it is a great park, good location, nice sized sites, very wooded, quiet except for the dogs. If you come, do not park where the monthly people do. We spend over six months a year on the road and this is one of the few parks we have been at that I would not return to.
