Great park!! Exceptionally clean. Everyone was friendly that passed by.

A wonderful place to fish if you know where the usual snags are. People caught 60 Lb catfishes off the pier here. It’s quite a view looking at an occasional passing by huge container ferry.Lots of catfish and rarely do you head back without a bite. Not much of bass or bluegill. Wish they had a bait/ refreshment center in the fishing side. Bathrooms are neat and well maintained.

Nice ramp and great parking...however...it does need to be dredged...getting out to main river is tricky at low tide...the whole area has silted in...

They have a couple boat loading ramps that help with waiting to load and unload your boat . We Kayaked this section, if you stay to the edge of the river near the shore its safer. Powerboats do not slow down so watch for waves overwhelming your kayak with water. And definitely pay attention when crossing to the other side of the river.

Always a clean and quiet place for a walk, the boardwalk is great.

Nice place, free parking. The boating good store had a PFD to sell me when I realized I forgot mine. Jimmy Dean sausage house a short paddle upstream. Lots of wildlife: eagles, osprey, herons. Occasional tug barges.

James River Fishing and Eagles tour is the best tours on the river and they are based at the marina. Great times!

Usually very clean easy to load and unload skis easy to park and great resteraunt to boot.

Great place to fish on the pier

Easiest landing to use during the summer as there are three ramps that can fit 6 people at once. Trim up when coming in or out in low water as it is very shallow between the landing and the channel.

I have never seen it busy, not many people use the playground or picnic areas. Nice place to walk around and play outside.

It was wonderful and a great day to go . I was there on Memorial Day Weekend. Of course, I stayed in my car and watched from afar but still a wonderful day and place . Relaxing.

It is really nice to hangout at and very calming. The people there are really chill and nice.

Great family place for picnicking, clean bathrooms. Play area for children. Walking trails & of course excellent public boat landing. Small pier for fishing or sightseeing. Pet friendly. We visit often.

Quiet and beautiful park in eastern Henrico County

We rented the pavillion for the afternoon, and it is such a nice place to relax and enjoy time with friends and family for an afternoon. The walking path through the woods is paved, except for the wood bridge over the marshy area, and its super neat. Kids and adults alike had a good time.

Its a beautiful park. I love walking around on the trails. Make sure to bring bug spray. But overall a wonderful park, by the James River!

Reserved the gazebo for a small wedding and couldnt ask for more

Lots of room for boat access and dock space to tie off.

Away from the most trodden places and still really close to Richmond, it was an excellent place to watch the Boat Parade. It is a really windy place, so bring a good coat! the boat landing area and the Riverside could be better signaled for safety, specially when you are bringing kids to the place.

Is great event for all family members

This boat landing is one of the best Ive used. There are multiple ramps and plenty of dock space in addition to a giant parking lot with spaces made for trailers. There is plenty of space for even large boats to launch. The maintenance and cleanliness is top notch and theres even a separate floating dock for fishing. Theres even public bathrooms here. This in addition to being adjacent to a boat dealer (for parts, oils), a park and a cafe right on the water make this a great place to get your keep calm and get your boat on!!!

I really like the ramps and I like how they are updating the restaraunt, etc. but the channel going out to river has always been too shallow, for a sterndrive at least. My depth gauge read 1.5ft before cutting off then I got stuck last visit. Other visits I made it ok, but I was still getting 2 ft reads. I understand how tides and lack of rain all play a part, but unless its a combination of lower tide and lack of rain i feel like that channel needs to be dredged out to maintain at least 3 ft or so. 2 other boats grounded out after me. I wonder how many impellers got damaged on that day, I hope not mine. Im not sure why this hasnt been a priority for them, moreso then updating the restaurant...if you go, just be careful

Great location to put into the James River. Close to Richmond and Hopewell easy parking and easy to get to. James River Parade of lights was only 8 boats in 2019. Wish there was more.

I stumbled upon this place I thought it was the most unique business Id ever seen a bar and Lou restaurant and you can pull your boat right up Sue the docks and tie it down its under construction right now about to have repairs done and redesign and it should open within the spring as Im standing its a beautiful place very best I think you all will enjoy at you can pull your boat out right off of the James River here in Richmond Virginia directly to UPS the docks I thought that was the most interesting thing that Ive seen in a long time a boat dock at a restaurant

One of my favorite spots. Its peaceful. A gazebo overlooks the James. I do NOT recommend anyone going there simply because I want it to be available whenever I go out there.

Great location, awesome lady sells food and ice cream off her boat in the area. Theres a gravel area a couple miles down the river for swimming and all kinds of fish biting off the dock or in the nook off the path. Theres also a really nice playground, clean bathrooms and a swing set by the boat launch. All the paths are very scenic and an overall great place to take the family or just your friends!

Ive gone here my whole life, and its always such a beautiful place. They keep the playground picked up from the trash, and the walking trails are beautiful. Gazebos are well maintained also. Perfect place for a family picnic or outing. Only criticism I have is that the bathrooms are not kept very clean.

Great boat launch area,clean maintained and the best part is how the boat launch area is for the boaters only, unlike the launch near me where its a hang out and you cant get in or out with your boat without telling people to move. They got it right in Virginia

This is a great place to go for fishing, walking, family get together and boating of coarse! You can fish from the pier and clean your fish afterwards. There is a covered shelter with fireplace and grills outside. Events are held here each December for the boat parade. Family friendly. A playground is at the entrance to the Boat Landing that is fenced in for safety purposes. I have taken my grandchildren and my great nephew many times.

We love it here! Nice crowd of people. PJust didnt like that there were plenty of snakes lying around.

Nice boat landing. We were using it for kayaks, which worked well. Only problem was the water was quite dirty until you got a long way away from the landing, and lots of boats go through the no wake zone full throttle. All in all its great for powered boats but not great for kayaks and canoes.

Was there to do a trash pick up for the Varina womens club. A nice place to do service work!

Great boat ramps, parking lot, bathroom facilities, etc but boats are continually getting stuck in the mud at the entrance during lower tides! VDGIF needs to dredge the entrance to the ramp. The neglect to dredge this wonderful facility is a disgrace!

No lighting over boat ramps. Trucks trying to launch boats have to cross paths with trucks that have already launched and trying to go park. Terrible traffic pattern on tournament morning. A traffic engineer needs to be summonds and apply expertise to this problem and impement a solution. This is a true cluster.However, there seems to be ample parking.

Was driving around and found this small park, boat ramp. Good place for canoeing as there is a small creek next to it. Direct access to James River..

Beautiful place but people are back and fourth with there boats not caring for the people fishing i do not recommend fishing here. Very shallow and snags are almost a guarantee i Only recommend it for boating

I love that the police dont hound you about late night launching . Richmond is too far and too dangerous . Just wish they could leave the bathrooms unlocked . Not complaining though I understand .

Ample parking for trailers and also for cars without trailers. Fishing dock also not bad. No place to swim so please be sure to not ket kids walk into water, could get a rusty hook or glass in feet. It looks bad there sometimes with debris.

This park has a lot to offer. There is a nice playground to take your child to. There are a couple of picnic shelters for gatherings. There is a pier to fish from. Its far enough out in Varina so ther isnt a lot of traffic and its quiet. Great park.
