The last time I went here I noticed that somethings were broken like the statues with foam. I enjoyed my trip every time but it really needs some more things. That would be amazing.
We really enjoyed our time at Rosie the Riveter National Historical Park. This free museum is succinct but packed with great historical information about Richmond, the war, and Rosie herself and the cultural evolution of Rosie throughout the decades.Theres plenty to explore here in and around the museum. Gift shop has some great Rosie memorabilia. Staff is very friendly and hospitable.
If youre gonna visit the Bay Area put this on the list of place to see. The history is amazing. It may be off the beaten path for most but its a must see. If you live in the Bay Area and havent been, you need to go.Theres a 30 minute movie that you have to see, its free and gives so much background and history. Plan on spending a couple of hours that includes the movie. Its not a huge place but you can certainly lose yourself looking at everything and reading about it all. There is a cool place to eat next door but I didnt go there. It was packed and I had plans with friends.
A great eye opening and very educational experience. Upstairs there are different displays about Richmonds wartime effort as well as information on the important work women and minorities were doing at home during WWII.I learned a lot of new stuff that isnt always covered in public school like LGBT+ history during the 40s as well as the prejudices that lead to Japanese internment. Theyve just recently (2018-2019) added as new displays to the museum. The older man volunteer at the desk is very friendly and happy to give you details on different parts of the exhibits.Theres a great view of the bay and the cities across the way at this location, too. Also, its a national park so its free admission. Theres a little gift shop for all your Rosie the Riveter needs!
OMG you Americans know how to put on a show and then step it up a gear, while visiting my US beastie she took me over to Rosie to meet up with some of her friends and then lunch in the Pump house restaurant on site, superb tasty food, try the mushroom burger to die for so where was I yes definitely well worth a visit to exhibition area and if you go down stairs there a audio visual area which lasts around 20 minutes.
Very informative with great staff!! Lots of things to see, including short films and guest speakers. Small gift shop...free admission and parking, though you must check in at the gate. Monument and Victory Ship nearby.
Although theyre isnt much activities like a playground for children, it is a great way to take a walk or ride your bike or any other mini transport other than a car, around its huge round path. Take your child to the shoreline, or show them and tell them some facts about history while going to the really nice monument! Go play soccer or something on the open field of grass, or see where the boats and mini ships are, its pretty neat!
My wife and I stopped here when the train from San Francisco. I do not know what we were expecting but we were very pleased with the park and the memorial. When we arrived at the park it was quiet in almost deserted with beautiful green grass overlooking a small beach and the Marina. The memorial is not extravagant but is well-thought-out and practical. The quotes written on the concrete timeline were moving as well as the facts that put the quotes into context
People who come here need to clean up after their dogs. The walkway is gross at some parts, but the views are wonderful. This is part of the San Francisco Bay Trail, and if you follow the trail around this park, you can see the small rose garden, a 360° history display, and a small sandy area. This is a nice, short walk, right next to the water (yes, it does smell, but not enough to ruin the whole experience).
Nice place...is a park you can walk or just stay sitting by the water...have upstairs that give you the posibility to be so close to the water... have green area for play soccer or just stay sit, made exercise, yoga any thing you want.
A wonder look into the war effort during WWII. Amazing how all pulled together for the big win!
Located on the beautiful San Francisco Bay. The Richmond Ferry arrives and departs daily from this park and can be used to commute to the busy downtown San Francisco. On a clear day its peaceful to walk around the park and is an excellent location for bird watching! There is plenty of free parking so you can park here and walk around all day or head to downtown San Francisco.
Great place to visit! Highly suggest the 1.2 Mike walk down the Bay Trail to see the monument! Monument is the actual length of a ship! Videos that are shown there are will done. The Japanese American movie was the best.
This is both informative and educational. I know the history already, and this was very well done. Very tasteful.
Great piece of American history. Looking at the pictures of those tanks being built, then looking in the windows right where they were being built was pretty powerful.
I had heard about the Rosie The Riveter Museum and decided to go there with some family visiting from out of town. In one word, Exceptional. This museum is hosted by National Park Services and the there are no entry fees. There is a wealth of self-guided informative kiosks with historical pictures, descriptions, apropos quotations, artifacts and some video stories, all focused on the events and results of the shifting roles of women and minorities in the wartime manufacturing efforts at the Kaiser Shipyards of Richmond, CA. Historical films and focused lectures are optional and offer additional information not fully covered by the kiosks.
Bernie Sanders rally held 7, xx000 people and again as many outside. Perfect.
Such an amazing museum. This is the type of museum where you want to read every word, watch every movie, and listen to every story. These woman deserve recognition and their amazing stories are told beautifully here. The rangers and docents (some of whom have personal stories) are also great and have even more information.
This place is an excellent museum of what the women did during World War II! Very informative and insightful! You can actually speak with women who were there, who worked in the ship yards in Richmond! They are there on the weekends! You should definitely make a trip here if you can!
If you like historic places this is your spot to hang out ks a very fun interactive museum it be fun for cuoples or just to hang out
This National Site does a wonderful job of education folks in American history in a fun way. The exhibits are interactive and creative, and the site is in a very pretty spot. The rangers are knowledge and enjoy working with kids who are warming Junior ranger badges.
I live across the Street from the Park, 22 years now. Still love living here
The view is amazing.
A tiny jewel of a National Historic Park. So much WWII history in Richmond, CA. Exhibits are well done. Be sure to visit the theater downstairs to see various talks & videos. We went specifically to hear Betty Reid Soskins talk. She is an amazing woman! You need reservations online or by phone for Bettys talk; well worth the trip. There is no entrance fee but donations are accepted.
Came to a crab feed in the area! The views are just amazing. Cant wait to explore more in the area. They have done it up down there.
A very quiet place near the sea with beautiful bay trail and infomative display of the historical WWII things. Its insightful for visitors to see Californias past and the traces of womens equality development.
Fun short trip. It is a small museum and can be seen in an hour or two. It details how women entered the manufacturing work force during WWII and also explains the internment of the Japanese Americans in the area The film was definitely worth watching. They also have a gift shop with some neat items.
Personally I love this place I like climbing the mountain walking around the beach is a very quiet park very clean and is close to the sea.
This is one of the best kept secrets in the Bay Area. For someone who was born during World War II and has lived in this area all of her life, it is amazing what I did not know about the Richmond shipyards and Rosie the Riveter. This museum is worth the drive over to Richmond or take the ferry from San Francisco.I enjoyed all of the museum exhibits and especially enjoyed the two short videos describing that era.Mark your calendar for the Rosie the Riveter Rally which takes place once a year. I saw women, all over the age of 90 years old, who were actually employed at that Shipyard during that time. It was thrilling.Oh, there is absolutely no charge for admission into the museum or to attend the Rosie the Riveter celebration. Put it on your calendar now. I had an absolutely wonderful day. I know you will be edified by the experience.
Great little gem. If you havent visited you should and take your daughters. Nice selection of merchandise in gift shop with a mild feminist slant.
Its a simple museum with mostly worded-displays, but the best part was actually meeting the docents who were Rosies from the WWII days. They really bring the history to life as they tell their stories. The museum also includes several talks during the day, one of which was by a camp survivor from the Japanese internment, discussing the history of the Richmond area and the city farmers that helped preserve the farms so that the majority of the Japanese-Americans in the area could return back to their livelihoods. The area has lots of walking tours, parks, and beautiful scenery along the water.
Very educational. The two films are excellent. Today is a beautiful clear day and there is a great view of the City across the bay.
Lovely place for a stroll under the evening sky. simply breathtaking.
Know the people from everywhere coming to Richmond Ca during WWII
Ended up enjoying the view and doing some estimate..
Great documentary movies, excellent visitor center w interpretive exhibits, many interactive. Free! Beautiful bay trail location, ride bikes.
Great Museum, the whole area has been rebuilt with the SF Ferry boarding, a Fishing/Viewing Pier and the E Bay Park Trail (Runs from Richmond Bridge to SF Bay Bridge) less than 50 yards from the Museum.
Very nice small free museum with a lot of informative displays and frequent small theater presentations. Panoramic bay view.
This Pleasant Park includes a tree-shaded picnic area, beautiful grass areas, and a monument to Rosie the Riveter. The monument commemorates the women who worked in the factories during World War II. Take time to read the descriptions around the memorial.
What a lovely little Museum. This is such an important piece of History, and to be able to actually meet some of the Rosies while touring the museum was truly a treat! There is something for everyone and it is not so large that is a full day activity. Absolutely worth the stop if youre in the area. I love history, and there were plenty of things that were new and interesting to discover while here. Bring a picnic lunch and sit outside along the bay with views of San Francisco to make it an even better outing!
A great little gem you can learn so much from! I took my children and they loved it.
Very cool place, sooooo much history! A gorgeous view of the bay.And to boot, a winery next door, with the same view!
The park doesn’t just focus on Rosie the Riveter but the idea that with WWII the entire country was part of the war effort. It details how everyone worked together for the success. Check for presentations for guest speakers to enhance your experience. Side note: many other national parks have told us that this park had metal junior ranger badges which isn’t accurate.
Fantastic gem hidden away. The museum is small, but full of information. There is also a small gift shop. Two movies run - one on the hour and the other on the half-hour. The movies provide excellent inside into women working during the war. There is a cafe next door. If it’s a cooler day, make sure to have a jack as the museum is right on the water.
The small visitor center features two films about WWII. One of them is about the city of Richmond, the other is about the working women of the era. Additionally, the exhibits are well constructed and designed to draw you in.Furthermore, the location is beautiful.
A special time in our history. Stop by to appreciate it. The girls filled in when the guys went to war. Thats why youre not speaking German now...
Great way to spend a few hours. Ive gone back many times and learned something new each time.
I cant give enough stars this place is amazing! There is alot of history. Staff is very courteous, polite, knowledgeable. A must see place! And its free!
NPS park using taxpayer dollars to spread political correctness and Kaisers political agenda. I am very disappointed. A significant amount of museum is devoted to stuff that has nothing to do with history.
Small free park. Great WWII history, especially about Richmond. Good for kids. Great views of SF and the Bay on a clear day.
Really great little museum. The displays are well done and the local section of the museum really helps you understand what happened right here. The films and the lecture we saw were both great.
Love it! Didnt know about this rich history about the Bay area and where Rosie the Riveter came from. Ive been multiple times and love taking people! Its absolutely a wonderful treat to meet the Rosies at the meet & greet and hear park ranger Betty Reid Soskin talk. Recommend catching the short films and talks. A quick museum to spend a few hours in and can get lunch/dinner next door. Everyone needs to make the trip for the history here.
Small, but very informative museum about the local impact on WWII. Right next to the waterfront, great for a walk afterwards.
So much to see and do here here. Now there is a commuter hours only ferry terminal. The entire area a great investment for future
Sorry, I was just in the vicinity and didn’t visit; this was a tragic time in our history. Let us do better.
Great place to bike, walk and take in some fresh air ( provided no walking chimneys around) . Open green spaces for picnics and BBQ .
This is a neat little excursion with fascinating WWII history. The day we went, they even had a former welder who worked the plant sharing her experience. There are also a couple of short films you can watch.
We were here for a work party and the whole place looked amazing. Great venue.
Enjoyed the well laid out documents of this historical site. The movies and displays were well done.
Very interesting place for adults and children. Films depict the good and bad times as does the exhibits.
Informative and well crafted exhibits. Unexpected. Glad we happened to stop and look.
I absolutely LOVED this musuem. We watched a film of the WW II and the history of Rosie the Riveter. The museum is outstanding! The shop as well. This place is right by the water. The view is absolutely breathtaking. I highly recommend this place
Great museum about WW 2 ship building. Women in the industry. Very friendly and helpful staff and volunteers.
On the water..not too bad
Nice restaurant. This location not too crowded and there is an outdoor deck!
You can always expect a nice relaxed walk there.
Its very informative place. Although didnt have much time to spend here overall was good experience.
Very cool place, very educational.
Interesting and enlightening.
There are interesting videos, images and displays. the location on the harbor is very pretty.
Informative but needs more interactive attractions
Make sure you see the movies downstairs that pack alot of history in 15 minutes and are good for all 3 generations!
Excellent...nice displays and stories about the ladies that helped us win the war...Mary Torres is a National Treasure..
It is awkward to get to from my location. But, its a great place to visit. It could be a more extensive venue for marine interest. But, we are lucky that we have a preserved boat. I am for preservation
Great historic place to visit. Beautiful view of the bay.
Nice museum with views of the Bay. Very informative about the Bay Areas role during WWII.
Its so interesting, I visited with a lady that was very old and very knowledgeable!
Im glad that they are bringing attention to the role of women in the war effort, but they fall short of doing it really well.
We can do it! poster of a woman in a red headband and jean shirt flexing a bicep circa WWII - youll learn all about it, how women contributed to the war effort, how modern health insurance got its start in the war factories of Kaiser, and how important Richmond was to supplying our forces with ships, tanks, etc.
Hidden gem. Well worth a visit if youre in the area.
A must visit!Important, full of knowledge and historical information!
Interesting history of women on the home front during WWII . Its a free museum and a good way to spend an hour.
Pretty cool little museum with some great info on our rich heritage.
I had no idea this was here. Its sorta spread out but pretty cool. Kids had fun exploring the boat.
I love taking the kids to places they can learn about the past and this place definitely does that. It also is a nice place to walk
Beautiful place the weather was so nice
Very educational. Great resturant next door
Dont forget the war ship. Nice hidden gem in Richmond.
Great place to start a hike along rhe bay.
So much history. Women took the place of men and the jobs. Very interesting and I learned something about that era.
Great park and visitor center commemorating the women who helped win WW2
A must for young and old to remind us of the sacrifices our forefathers and mothers have made during the WWII war effort.
Its a beautiful place! If you love the ocean... Its a great place to enjoy some peace and quiet. Also windy so take a sweater or jacket
Nice little National Historical Park to visit if you are in the Bay Area. The worlds oldest National Park Ranger works here too!
Ive never been here, but the ferry terminal is over here and it asks me to review this place every. single. day. Five stars for persistence.
To see where feminist bit logo started and how woman back then worked and made shipts etc..its cool. only a little there left as a symbol but not an attraction nor similar, the views are very cool and relaxing
Its beautiful. Come walk around here, or jog around here, or bike around here... Pack some sleeves though just to be safe.
Very interesting and worth to see. This is a part of history among other historical moments that could have brought the world closet together. What are we waiting on continuing to keep all races at arms length. Everyone has contributed to making American great, and still doing it in unique ways.Rosie the Riverter is a stepping stone for the younger generation to remember the past.
The day after her 96th b-day, my son and I had the pleasure of meeting Ms. Betty Reid Soskin, a truly magnanimous and beautiful human being. I only hope my legacy will be as viable as hers. This memorial site is low key amazing! The truth of what happened during this time is presented with such integrity, thanks to Ms. Soskin. You cant help but respect it so much more.
