I really like the reenactment of 1830s life of early Texans. The buildings are well maintained. It is a shame due to COVID-19 you cannot go to the second floor on the 1890 house. Dont forget your mask.

I came here as part of a school field trip. We spent about 3 hours there and to be honest, thats not at all enough time to see everything. The place has a lot of history and if that interests you, try to spend a day here. They have guides who are knowledgeable and friendly. Theres a lot of walking to do in an open ranch setting so come prepared with comfortable footwear and clothing suited for the elements. They have a gift shop with some interesting gifts. Never saw a food court or cafeteria, so bring your own food.

If the history of Fort Bend County has ever interested you, this is one of the best places to learn it! The kids really enjoyed themselves! They take you on a chronological tour of how George Ranch progressed over the years from house to house. If you go at the right time of year youll most likely see a few alligators as well. I will be coming back again!

Fun, very large, educational spot. Make sure you get there early to fit in all the house tours that happen on the hour. The doors to the houses are locked if you arrive when there is no tour. Get the schedule when you arrive so you know when there are special events like Santa visits, cattle demos, etc.

Enjoyable visit. Was very quiet, mid week in October. Worth using the transport to move around if it is hot as there are long stretches with no shade. Can be tricky to time the moves between the houses to fit in with the talks. Probably more suited to adults or older children.

Really cool place to visit with out of town guests. From my understanding this is one of the oldest operating ranches in Texas. Ive visited several times over the past few years and I learn something new everytime I go. The tours are very interesting and informative. Its located only about an hour or so from downtown Houston. I highly recommend going.

Interesting place with historical buildings from various eras of the George family. The tractor can take you around or you can walk. There are horses, cows, pigs and chickens to see and old tools and machines. Be prepared to spend at least half a day in the ranch. Each house has a person taking you around and explaining the history.

Fun place for families to gain an appreciation for a bit of Texas history on a working ranch. You can see how a family generations lived and prospered within a few generations as they were granted Mexican land and turned it an entrepreneurial success. The ranch is beautiful and well preserved by a staff of knowledgeable people with an obvious passion for sharing the information with inquisitive visitors.

Love it here. We went on a super slow weekday and there was barely anyone else there. It was great! A little hot but the tram they have helps out a lot with that. Very helpful staff and volunteers. Everyone was very sweet and informative. Sat with some of the staff and chatted for quite a while. It was really nice. We will definitely be back! Glad to have something like this so close to home. Love the self paced atmosphere and tons of historical facts and information. Cant wait to go back when its not 90+ degrees so we can walk more than wait for the tram.

This place was interesting but the people aren’t super friendly. We went with a school field trip. I understand that having that many children around can become stressful and difficult especially this time of the year but the people working there were horrible. They have bad attitudes, yelling at students and parents to move, unfriendly, would not answer questions and just didn’t seem to like their jobs at all. The field trip was poorly directed and we even missed a huge activity because students and teachers were not given proper direction. I wouldn’t go back. Today’s trip just kinda put me off. It’s too bad because I’m sure there are lots of great things about this place.

Do not go, I don’t know what is deal with these people and field trips just went with my school 3rd graders and they were all so rude and unfriendly to the kids and to the teachers, games were boring and they did not put the kids in context, of course 3rd graders will ask silly questions and they were all very rude to answer them, also they expected the kids to know what to do without giving clear instructions, if you have this as and “option” for your field trips just do not waste your time going to this place. The staff here is just rude and looks like they do not want to do this job to be honest.

Living history is a wonderful way to learn things and George Ranch gets the immersive aspects rights. Details are wonderful. Lots of walking. We went on a Tuesday in January, and things were pretty trimmed down from normal operations, it seemed. At least one of the exhibits was not manned. The Cafe was not operating, but other reviews make me think that was a good thing.Biggest complaint was visiting Mr. Jones stock farm. The person portraying Mr. Jones was deep into character, probably too deep. He was very knowledgeable but he had very little patience with kids. During his presentation, if my kids squirmed or expressed surprise or wanted to ask a question, he was very curt in demanding quiet until he was ready to entertain questions. At one point, he indicated that he wanted my six year old to leave, because he squealed with excitement when a chicken ran by and Mr. Jones caught it. It was embarrassing for my son. I understand that Mr. Jones was treating the cabin as his own, and expecting all of us to do the same, but he seems to have forgotten that we were paying guests. Additionally, there was no warning or information regarding the expected behavior of the kids. Now, on the plus side, he patiently answered all of my other kids questions, and spoke with us at length about his life However, he basically ruined the visit to his farm for my youngest kid, and so upset my wife and me with his rudeness, that it was difficult to enjoy the other exhibits.

Loved the Texian Days!!! Took my 16 and 21 year old sons out to tour the houses, watch the battles, experience the rich history of the high school that bears the name of the working ranch they have graduated from and attend currently. The stories and activities were fantastic and the tours in each house gives you a perspective on time pieces. The working ranch is still a working ranch and they have a tram to carry you from house to house if you need a lift.

Beautiful landscape on a beautiful spring day. Was a self guided walking tour from house to house. We only actually went in 1 house for a tour, my kids are 2 and 5 and lack the patience for that kind of thing. However, we enjoyed the walk and other activities going on. We got a cutting from a plant, fed the chickens, pet baby goats, saw a cattle show, played cattle and Cowboys (tag) with the workers, took a ride on the tram, and the kids got some great souvenirs. Overall, a great trip. We would have stayed longer if the restaurant had been open. We will be back!

I went to this place due a school field trip, we were a big group of first grade students (Elementary school with a high number of Hispanic students), teachers and a big number of parents-volunteers to assist teachers. Since beginning of trip, you need to enter into the gift shop in order to be able to access facilities, so... gift shop’s staff didnt welcome us properly as other places we have visited where they greet you and make you feel comfortable, they looked at us as if we were stranger who were there to steal something. I understand that we had little children but I can promise that parents and teacher were taking care of those little hands, plus our children know how to respect and honor others. Then a gentleman (playing a English Ranger character) warned everyone that this is not a Chuck e cheese facility or a feeding zoo, stated rules and procedures (at that point- I agreed with that rules because we went there to learn about Texass history). So, we started the journey each first grade group took separate ways. I confirmed that there is long perimeters for walk, really long, property has pretty good maintenance, you will be able to take pretty photos of big sections of land, amazing cabins with a lot of interesting details, make sure to bring enough water because there is no water fountains (except at gift shop there is one nearby to the bathrooms). If you are bringing children who are not accustomed to walk, make sure to bring stroller or a wagon to carrier them. Then our group have stopped on Mr. Georges house, these is a beautiful house filled of interesting details and exciting stories. Unfortunately our tour guide was not friendly, except to the final of tour; when we have stepped outside there is a draw-well that you can use (thanks GOD) to have a little moment of fun.And so, we have stopped to the first cabin whom was occupied by another school group, so we were honoring the group and waiting for our turn, then an Senior woman, whom unfortunately showed that had not been properly trained to deal with elementary students due she didnt have patient; she had asked us to do not talk, do not drink water, do not make any sound with plastic bottles, stay quiet....OMG! We were stand up in the land waiting for our turn not at the church. But ok! We have honored procedures. She started to give us a short description about what we are seeing like an example the cabins build process. Then our turn came, we were excited about what we would hear, but the gentleman who initially explained to us procedures, turned really rude and ask us - What are you guys looking here? So the teacher apologized and so confused because his reaction said: well! I guess we are here to listen whatever you would like to share with us, Sir!Really rude he said: Well! I don’t know what you want to hear from me, whatever I would like to say, she already told you so?-. At that point I felt really upset and sad because since beginning of trip, the way they treated us was really obvious. Racism...Finally we have stopped in a little white cabin which has chickens and piggy’s, we were greeted by a nice Senior gentleman (A big man, white skin color, long white beard) Whom was the only person in that ranch who treated us with respect, a big smile, courtesy without care of our race or skin color and gave us a lot of information about George Ranchs history, he made us feel well welcome, children and parents agreed that he was the best part of trip. He was properly trained to work with childrens group.
