This is an absolutely gorgeous park with a lot to see and appreciate. It could have been that the weather was just right, but the field was swaying, the birds were singing, and the lighting was simply perfect.Well worth the stroll, even moreso of youre interested in the historical significance. Plenty of historical markers to read detailing the battle to read (or ignore) as you see fit.A simply lovely park.
My family and I really like walking around the place. It is a decent circle to walk to get some fresh air. My daughter loves hearing the frogs at the pond and seeing all the different birds flying around. It can get hot in the middle of the day as most of the path is in direct sunlight.
I really appreciate the history behind this park. The nature is beautiful. The big fields of grass were green and little purple flowers were blooming. The park is very clean. It is really interesting that it was saved from being commercialized into a golf course or housing complex. I think its a great place to go if you are a local for a casual stroll, Picnic or go on a walk with your dog. But it is not worth the trip to drive from far to see this park. This park has a few run down buildings, a Grave yard and historical narratives you can read while you walk around the park. My opinion is that you can read the history and look at pictures online. My trip was 15-30 minutes long. You may want to plan to go to other places in the area too because this will be a short trip.
Its a lovely place to go for a walk. My husband and I enjoy it.
Got there too late to do much but enjoyed the trail.
My husband and I love to visit historic places. This was one of the few that are free to the public. Very nice walking trail and lots of reading material and markers to learn the history as you walk. The upper floor of the house (Pleasant View) has human blood stains on the wood floors, likely from the time it was used as a field hospital during the Battle of Richmond. Its amazing that the home was used until 2001.
Well kept. Peaceful. A great place to visit.
This place is very peaceful, sort of. The walking trails are great to walk & learn at the same time about the land & the people. Every year they have different gatherings from The Battlefield Reenactment & The Richmond Pow-Wow. Those are my two favorites. They even have Dances in the Barn.Just wish people would quit destroying the inside of the Barn. I wish someone would fix it, and lock it up. They have slowly started to take the wood and it wont be long until it falls down. Now days it is filled with people taking photos & not photos of its history but rather themselves. Not to rant but theres like 30 thousand people in this town & half of them go here to take their photos. Everyone in this town has the same Photos. They are all taken in the same spot & in all the same poses. Nope, no creativity. Leaving this right here for those people who think they are Photographers just because they have a camera!!!There is more to Photography than just Portraits. There is also a Landscape.
Nicely preserved portion of the area of the heaviest fighting of the battle. Liked the walking trail and the fact that even though part of the battlefield has been turned into a golf course they have markers and signs that are part of the battlefield trail. The only downside is that the visitors center and historic buildings arent open on weekends.
It was okay I did not know Richmond Kentucky had a Battlefield it seemed kind of small self-guided tour you walk a path and read the signs nothing at all like Gettysburg
I like the way they incorporated a walking park as a way to attract people to this important place.
Not only is this a good place to take photography but also a place to enjoy a nice walk. Learn history and and talk to the people who Volunteer to run this place. We live close by and come here on a weekly basis. Great views and well kept grounds. We talked to one of the lady volunteers and she was very nice. She showed us around the inside of the house and told us how she loves to make clothes for the props around the house and about the blood room. Most people who come here don’t even know the history. They just come here to take they’re family photos and don’t learn the history of the house nor the land.Inside this beautiful house is an operational weaving table and a few historic pinwheels. A lot of historical facts and a gift shop. Some volunteers dress up and its a real experience.Sadly the problem is that the grounds are being destroyed by the people destroying the barn on the property and taking its wood for their own greedy hands. These people will one day create a problem for photographers and people who care for the history. The Security guards are not doing there jobs anymore. If you see or hear anything about people stealing wood off the barns around Kentucky or know anything about this barn. Please report them. They are only destroying the future for the next generation and they only care about their pockets. People who do this, won’t stop until they are caught. If they are willing to steal wood from a barn, what will they move on to in the future?
Very nice historical park with walking trails that are kept clean. This location has a lot of signs that provides you with information regarding the location during Civil War times. This location has a barn and also a lake, as well as multiple paths for walking with great scenery of the battlefield as well as trees and open fields. There are not a lot of benches at this location it sort of keeps you motivated to walk, however, this park does have restrooms for usage. This park has multiple events that are held such as the Richmond Battlefield Reenactment and the Richmond Pow Wow. Also there is a historical house that at times you can tour as well.
Great place to walk dog and be with youself
It is such a beautiful tribute to history.
Im glad we took the 4 mile detour off the highway. Very beautiful place with walking trails, historical house and other buildings. Gate was open but facilities like bathroom and water were shut off for the winter season. We stopped to eat our lunch and take the dog for a walk. I would go back again when it is open to view the rest of the property.
A great place to walk and explore and take wonderful family pictures!!
Rich history combined with amazing paved walking paths......who could ask for more? Maybe reenactors after the covid crisis???
We go all the time just to walk and look around. Love it here
Lovely grounds from a converted farm. Nice for pick nicks, walking the trails, relaxing. Historically significant to the Battle of Richmond, Kentucky during the Civil War, August 29th & 30th, 1862!
Great place went and sit outside under the tree
Great piece of history for all to enjoy. Public park with walking trails and signage.
We go to Pow Wow here very year. Clean bathrooms and amazing staff.
Im a history buff, so I thought it was cool. I grew up in the North, so it was interesting reading about Confederate victories for a change. 4 stars only because they said they were open online, but the house was locked up when we got there... Still, the outside sites and info were super interesting. Bring walking shoes and water.
It is a beautiful park with a paved trail but you only get to head towards Churchills Draw and not access it as its fenced off and on private property. If you enjoy Civil War history, that part is disappointing as its probably the most important part of that portion of the battle.
We went to the reenactment of the Richmond battle in the Civil War. This was my first time and it was a great experience! If you plan to go, study up on the battle ahead of time (YouTube has some videos) and it will enrich your experience.
Would have like to see the inside of the house, but it was closed because of COVID
Nice place for walking but the staffs are weird.
Wonderful experience. excellent civil war reinactment. really enjoyed being able to ask questions from the participants.
We had our civil war group there reenacting the Battle of Richmond. Its a very nice place. Maybe every one can come out and enjoy the festivities.
It was absolutely breathtaking! I got to be in one of their dances. It was one of my wants to do, just to get to a Powwow.
From the roadside placards we learned the basic history of the battle of Richmond.
I absolutely loved the pow wow and I am looking forward to going again next year!
I would love to thank everyone who that helped put on The Pow Wow this year . I enjoyed myself and I learned a lot out there about our brothers and sisters .
Nice battlefield Richmond has done a good job with preserving historical landmarks
Love to walk my dog here. But they could make more fact markers
Absolutely loved the PowWow and spending time my husband and grand daughter!
This was an interesting little place. Very educational. Didnt have any idea it was even there. Its need to be advertised more. People who love to learn about history will enjoy. It is a lot of walking so wear comfortable shoes. I took my children ages 8 and 13 and they enjoyed it, a younger child might not. If its a beautiful day and you want to go for a walk, its the perfect place to be.
Beautiful landscape all around.
Course was great and so were the staff...tournament personnel, not so much.
Nice course. Not too hard yet not so easy
My family loves this place. The walking track is always clear and the grounds are kept up. Couldnt ask for more. We love Battlefield.
Went to the Pow Wow. Maybe I had different expectations. Too many Wiccan wannabees who think they blend with native Americans, some of the guests were a little too blended if you know what I mean... Trying to call down Hawks and eagles. I was embarrassed for them.
Its great ever year thanks.
Great place to learn about history.
Beautiful place and perfect for taking pictures!!
Went here for the pow wow. Enjoyed where I was. Did use the bathroom. It was clean. And stocked.
Visitor center was closed so. If it wasnt for a couple of locals it would have been a total waste of time
Front 9 are awesome, not a fan of the back
This is a very beautiful park with lots of history. The trail around the old house and to the barn is really nice, especially in the summer.
Clean environment but the staffs were not friendly.
I had a very great day at the Indian Pow Wow . I hope everyone goes to the Pow Wow because they will have a very great time there . You will meet and make a lot of new and old friends. I meet and made a lot of new friends .
This years Pow Wow was exceptional. Theyre always wonderful but this was one of the best.
Good walking trails and scenery
Nice to see this historic place
Interesting and nice trails
Civil war history and easy walk trails
It is a very well maintained piece of history! I also love seeing the reenactments!
Its an awesome place with great events all through the summer a must visit
Nice place to visit. The powwow was a lot of fun
Nice museum about the Battle of Richmond, you can take a driving tour with about 6 or 7 stops.
Cool place but the house was closed despite the fact that it was supposed to be open until 3.
Well kept historical site, has a reenactment every year that is pretty fun to watch.
It was very interesting...great quiet place to reconect with nature!
Beautiful park with paved trails surrounded by fields and trees. Historical buildings still in place, well kept. Try the Frybread Pies at the reenactment in August.
The visitors center at the Rodgers House was very educational but stairs to second level were steep and narrow.
Nice place to walk and very photogenic apparently. Constantly see folks taking family portraits.
It was good one
To much walking for a disabled lady.
Great place to visit
Great place to take pictures, walk a nature trail, and have a picnic.
Beautiful! Great place to enjoy a walk, and learn some history as well.
The people are awesome and our family loved the experience. We will be back.
Its a really nice place.
Interesting and informative
Went to the pow wow had a great time
Great feeling experience
Lovely setting Golf Course and close to home.
Peaceful walk.
Battle of Richmond recreated in August each year. Site of the most complete victory by Confederate forces during the Civil War.
Such a beautiful place..
The house and walking trail take you back in time. Only a few historical markers to let you read the story of the battle remind you of the present, interrupted the feeling we were there when it happened.
I loved it. I participated with the 2nd KY Infantry CSA at the reenactment. It was my first time there. Very well kept.
I love taking my doggos here!
Good place to walk some when muddy outside.
Love to walk
Very friendly, well versed staff, passionate about history.
Great historic sites
Awesome. Love history
Good course,but not friendly.
It was an interesting place to visit.
Was a great visit and great place.
The 2nd largest battle fought in Kentucky during the civil war took place here, very interesting place to visit!
If into civil war history a must stop if in the area.
