This has been our go to spot since my son was 6 months old. great infant section, and as he is now 2 years old he can roam freely without me having to worry since kids play is totally toddler safe!!! We had a birthday party there and everyone cried when it was time to leave lol.

The place was nice and clean. Owner was great and my kids enjoyed themselves. I would give it five stars if I felt the cost was appropriate. $9 each kid plus charging $5 for the adult that just sits there, for only 1 hour of play is steep to me. Maybe if they didn’t charge for the adults…or let you stay longer than one hour... might be more worth the money.Update... changed to five stars. Thank you to the owner for providing a reason for the pricing (Covid). I didn’t even think about that! Happy to support! Hope things will get better and prices can return to normal soon. Thank you!

Really cute, nice place for children to play! The reason for the low rating is due to failure to follow your Covid guideline posted on website, and on the door. While the clerk upfront was wearing a mask, you allowed persons over the age of 10 inside with no masks. COVID-19 is a very serious matter.

Big place, lots of activities. My 2 year old and 3 year old niece played here for 2 hours. Lots is different stations to keep them engaged. They have lots of events here too like music class, kidokenetics, kid yoga, creativity immersion classes and even petting zoos. Would recommend.

This place is under a new owner (since 12/2018), and it is now AWESOME. Free coffee and wi-fi with tables for parents, and you can bring outside food. My kids stay busy for 4+ hours every time we go, and its always clean. And the new owners are so nice and helpful. Especially with a Groupon, this is such a good deal.

Just a great place for kids top have unstructured play time. They have cameras and a safe arrangement. Kind of a narrow age range of kIds that would enjoy it though. Probably 2-4 years.

Loved this place! Lots of great learning toys for kids, music & interactive play areas. Perfect for infants and toddlers and even small children. The owner was very nice, they have free coffee and wifi and a sitting area for parents. I came at about 2pm on a Thursday and it was not busy at all. They have a changing table for little ones and you are able to bring food in! Very chill environment. :)

My 2 yo daughter loves coming here and my husband and I both enjoy watching her explore around with other children her age.BUT on days when there are much larger kids around it really does worry me that the little ones will get injured. I’m seeing much older kids brought here, ages 6 and up, and some do not understand that they can accidentally injure the little ones. There really does need to be an age limit at this place, unfortunately, that won’t happen I’m sure. I think it’s a great place if you happen to catch it on a day where older kids are not present and honestly the type of toys that are available are truly not suited for 6 or 7 year olds. The larger kids end up running around playing chase indoors, destroying the toys, and causing chaos.UPDATE, Aug 2018Extremely saddened that Playdate is no longer a hidden jewel in Richardson. The place is in complete chaos, the floors are a possible safety risk in some areas, the toys are in bad condition, and most importantly my 2 yo didn’t seem interested in playing with anything anymore. I really think they have missed the most important key and that is encouraging curiosity in children. When things (toys) are not placed in an area that is designated for that space, such as the “grocery store” it’s no longer a “grocery store” it’s just a place where a lot of random stuff is found. I understand that the toys will move about the entire place through play time, but the staff/owners should also make an effort to replace toys back in their designated areas once in awhile to facilitate and encourage curiosity, imaginary play, and most importantly to help maintain the interest in their customers, which are the children. As a parent, if my daughter no longer finds any interest in playing at PlayDate then guess what, we will no longer be returning. This isn’t a place for adults, sure the free WiFi and coffee are a nice perk, but ultimately my daughter/the kids should be their main focus.PlayDate is no longer the same as depicted online and that is not fair to the customer, I’ve included several pictures from our last visit. I hope this helps parents when deciding how to spend their time and hard earned income. I try to be fair when making reviews, with that said, I think they have a great concept, but it requires constant maintenance, upkeep, and a love for children and play. I feel that it has lost its way and it can still make a come back. It’s such a great little place for kids and the community. I really hate to see it in such bad shape. We literally started going to PlayDate within a few weeks from it’s opening date and the original owner was so excited about the potential of his new business venture and he showed excitement about helping children learn through play. I hope to see it stay and turn itself around as it once was.The following pics are, the bikes on circular path surrounded by dirty green unsecured carpet, the art tables no longer have long white paper on them for drawing, so there is no longer an “art designated area.” Some of the linoleum tiles are coming up in some areas. The “grocery store” and the general area are simply chaotic.

Playdate is a good place to get out of the house and let the kids play. Lots of room to roam and toys to play with. Little buildings, like a school house, for kids to allow their imagination to grow and expand. Good social interaction too, especially in the mornings.Mornings are typically busy, while afternoons are more quiet. So if your little one is a bit shy and has a harder time opening up, try an afternoon for some quiet play.Free wifi and coffee is a huge plus. But keep in mind no outside food is allowed. There are snacks for sale, but make sure your little bitties, as well as yourself, are fed before playing. There are a couple of great restaurants in the shopping center if you need lunch before or after play. While most kids have fun and there isnt an age limit, older kids (9+) can get bored. If they have a friend or sibling with them though they have a lot of fun. My niece is 10 and has been up here a couple of times and has had a lot of fun.

The person who worked at the front was so nice but the place was soo dirty and most of the toys were either broken or not working. Management definitely knows about this and doesn’t fix them. Such a shame because I feel this place could be much nicer. The bathrooms were clean and they allowed us to bring food in along with free coffee. I think if they clean the place and replace the broken toys and add more educational stuff this place has a lot of potential. Also my son loved the blue ride but this is so dangerous in a place with small kids.

Littles houses inside make pretends real fir my kid and she enjoyed every bit of it. I didnt even see time as I was there. 3 hours went by flying.

I have never been here but I was thinking about bringing my 2 year old...we live close... Might I recommend painting the walls? There’s fabulous artist at places like painting with a twist... I’m sure if you agreed to feature their wall murals, they would give you a fabulous discount? Paint this place, add some creative ceiling decoration, stimulating decor. Have you ever looked up simulating decor for people with autism? The same concept. Children cannot keep there eyes off and they won’t get bored. I don’t want to see this place closed for bad reviews before you even get a chance.

Play Date is the place to rest, learn, bond, and play together in a way few places offer. The HANDS ON interaction is an educational treasure for each child. The value is intentionally built into the owner’s experience of being a mom and a child educational advocate!I marveled, as a 31 year retired educator, at the inner action of a community of parents and children in an environment where ALL learn, cooperate, and socialize in a positive business and community!!!PLAY DATE is an incredible bargain for ALL!Thanks,Selema

Not worth $20. My kids got bored there after 1 hour and wanted to go. This place needs some more work to be done. Advice for management: bring more exercise activities on like bounce and slide. Offer lower prices for Monday-Friday walk-in visitors otherwise it’s a rip-off charging $20 and kids don’t like to stay there for more than 1 hour! Clean/fix small toys. FYI. A day earlier we went to a smaller indoor playground. Paid only $13 for two and spent over 4 hours nonstop playing there compared to 1 hour at this place.

I normally dont review places, but I went there today and I expected it to be a bit more clean. There was hair and debris all over the floor and carpets where little crawlers are playing at. Id rather the place have more strict grownup shoe policy, but now I know why its cheaper. The temperature was rather warm indoors, but overall my munchkin did have lots of fun with all their dirty toys, I wish they would keep the place a little more clean. The other big kids there didnt care about the cleanliness of the place. Not bad if youre not allergic to dirt and hair. :)

We had our daughters joint birthday party here, so there were a zillion kids in attendance. No worries, this place has enough stuff to keep all the kiddos preoccupied. The kids were in heaven and the parents were able to relax, knowing the children could run and play without getting into trouble. Whether youre looking for a fun and nice establishment to host a kids birthday party or an opportunity to kill some time on a Tuesday afternoon while your kids engage in creative play, this is the place.

Been taking my daughter here for almost two years. Have watched the number of toys dwindle, and the ones remaining increasingly in poor condition. As best I can tell they have not replaced/updated any of the toys since we started bringing our daughter here. It’s been a slow decline and now at a point where I don’t think we will be back.

This place was great when it first opened but under new ownership they have made some changes. You aren’t allowed to bring food anymore and the staff isn’t as friendly. There are also a lot of broken toys and many are missing that used to be there. It’s unfortunate the place isn’t being kept up. I don’t like the snacks they sell so I have to sneak in stuff and feed my always hungry daughter in the bathroom. We don’t come here much anymore unless she doesn’t have school and I’m desperate. It is nice, however, to have the parent area with free WiFi so I can relax while my little one plays.

VERY bland and boring. Not much to do but a bunch of wooden playsets (kitchen/house/tools). Theres a bike thing but there needs to be a parent pushing it. No art area or large features. WAY OVERPRICED. $12 for the first kid and $9 for siblings. Its priced like Play Street but with half the stuff. The price should be more like $8/$5. My 2 and 4 year old got bored after the first hour. I wouldnt waste your money.

Very unfortunate. Just saw a groupon for $15 which says regular price is now $20.50. We have been paying $10.50 regular price. Way to rip off your loyal customers by doubling the price! On another note I recently found out of a friend who complained about some toys that are not actually toys and therefore may have paints/materials not appropriate for handling by young children. No changes were made after she made complaint. Children have a much more penetrable blood/brain/gut barrier and are more sensitive to toxic materials. Be careful if you have kids that are the age where they still may put something in their mouth.

Weve been here a few times. Its a little pricey, especially if you have multiple children to pay for. The free coffee is awesome, but snacks for the kids are really expensive. The last time we went EVERYTHING that was battery powered (power tools) was dead. None of the battery powered toys worked like they should have, which was a bummer because those are my sons favorites. Hope they fix this issue!!

I dont usually do reviews, but after reading all of the last 6 months knowing this place has gone through some changes- give it a chance. I went today with my 3 and 4 year old boys and spent almost 3 hours there. At first I wasnt sure if my 4 year old would have enough to do but he did. Its similar to playstreet and Chris the owner was nice. He let us know about the upcoming storytimes and music classes. There is free coffee and wifi. Plenty of seating for a Friday at 10am. Snacks for sale but they also allow them to be brought in. Overall we had a great time and will go back. My only concern would be for my 4 year old on whether he would be bored playing here next time, but thats how my child is. (Maybe suggested age range 0 to 5, depending on your child imagination.)

I’m hoping I just caught them at an awkward in between because my kids love it there!

I booked a party here and no information was given to me about max capacity until a week before my event. All of my guests had rsvpd already and I was put in a situation where I had to tell some people not to come. What’s worse was I had called multiple times before to make sure that having 35 kids was okay and they reassured me every time that it was totally fine. Did they assume that none of these kids would come with parents? This is terrible and very unprofessional. They blamed it on change of ownership but they should keep their clients informed at all times. When I asked to talk to the owners or manager they told me they were not available to speak to ever and if I needed to reach them, I could email them at an email so I was not even able to properly voice my opinion on the matter to the owners. They told me a week before my party that I could cancel the contract if I wanted and they would refund me my deposit. Parents who have planned bday parties know it is impossible to find a venue a week before the party. So I was forced to have my party there and had to ask some people not to come. Also, the bike merry go round is super dangerous for this age group of kids. Multiple children got hurt while playing on it during our party. I think the place needs better management.

There were multiple broken things, a lot of really worn toys, and no new toys since the last time we visited. It’s time to put a little money back into the business. Sadly, we won’t be returning. My kids were only interested in playing for an hour and $20 later.

We hosted my daughters 2nd birthday party here. We had 17 kids ranging from 1 year olds to 4 year olds and they all had a great time. We had a stressful moment that occured with planning and booking so far in advance with the worker showing up a little later than expected, however the owners were prompt in responding and making it right for us. Overall, we are very pleased with how everything turned out and our guests also had a great time. Most importantly, my daughter enjoyed every minute we were there.

And just like that the once set apart Playdate Co became just like every Play Street location around. Ugh!Its been a while since weve visited, so this morning I got up early, packed lunches and snacks, picked myself up some Starbucks coffee and breakfast and headed to Playdate Co. I thought wed hit the jackpot when we pulled up at 10am and the parking lot was basically empty. I strolled in ready to spend the day here, but as I waited behind someone signing a waiver I noticed a sign on the counter (see image) which stated as of February 26th NO FOOD ALLOWED.I waited my turn so I could get clarification. Turns out The Playdate Co is basically a Play Street by another name. The picnic tables no longer welcome children with lunches. The welcoming looking Parent section no longer welcomes you with your oatmeal or granola bar to enjoy in peace while your child(ren) play. And it was clearly explained to me there is NO in and out so if you step out the doors to enjoy said granola bar, you are out and there is no re-entry.Now I understood why the parking lot was empty an hour after opening and why there was one child in the whole place. Playdate Co went and made a choice to be like every Play Street in the area which dont allow food, dont allow in and out, and charge A LOT of money for your child to play for two hours until they want a snack. I stood frozen in disbelief for a split second and then snapped into action. We are out. Thats right. My kiddos and I walked right out the door. I loudly explained to them we were going to Little Humans Big Fun or Jungle Joes, BOTH places that wisely allow/provide food into their parent sections so my $21 entry fee makes sense. Why Playdate Co would you go and make such an altering choice? If I wanted to spend $20 to let my kids play for two hours Id take them to Chick fil A and at least get lunch out of it.We wont be back.
