Free Play is an absolute local treasure. I have been a regular customer for years and hope to continue for perpetuity. Beyond being an excellent retro arcade, its a great place to eat, drink, and get to know people. All of the employees Ive gotten to know have been excellent and go the extra mile to make the experience as great as possible. The sense of community is truly incredible and it is an amazing place to pass the time. The selection of drinks and food is excellent and reasonably priced. In addition, safety protocols and the adherence thereof have been great and I have always felt safe coming here even during the pandemic. I truly cant recommend this place enough.

Very Fun nostalgic games from 80s & 90s.. If you love older games & remember how to play them, this little arcade is for you.. It is $11 for hours of free fun on every game. Plus they have a small but affordable option for food & adult beverages..

1st time to visit. We all loved it! 6 yr old, 11 yr old and 2 adults. Came in at 3 left close to 8. Not crowded. Clean. Machines are taken care of. Everyone is super friendly. No kids running around like other places. Adults were behaved while drinking unlike some places we have been. Look forward to visiting again for date night. No kids after 9pm. Food smelled great even though we did not order any. Also. They had street fighter competing going on which was cool.

Children of the 80s and 90s, we have finally found our niche. Our nirvana, if you will. ;)For 10 bucks per person, you can enjoy a wide variety of old-school arcade games while grooving to the music of your childhood. Best of all, the games are all free so you can play as long and as many times as your heart desires. The atmosphere is fun and friendly, and while they do close at midnight, theyll at least let you finish your game before they kick you out.And as an added bonus, kids are banned after 9 pm, so us adults are free to eat, drink, and be merry without worrying about little kids running around.

What a little gem. I love that you can pay admission and play as many games to your hearts content. We went for a company gathering, but plan on bringing our children next time. They have food and beverages as well. The staff were super friendly and hustled to care for our large group. Yay for arcade nostalgia ️

Video games are totally not my thing, but my wife wanted to do this with the kids and I wound up having a lot of fun. One of the staff, a gentleman with a ponytail, was extremely respectful and very kind. Based on the excellent customer service and the fact that I had a wonderful time even though it was not something that I am accustomed to I give this place more than five stars. Keep up the great atmosphere and I hope your business thrives good job guys.

Love this place!!! Its great on pricing and has a full functioning bar!! Thats important for this mama. On top of that - has the games we know from childhood and I love exposing them to my kids! Food and snacks reasonable but nothing to crazy - my family prefers just going to play, us adults drink, and leave to grab a bite to eat. Want to hold a birthday party there for my son but havent gotten a chance to test that yet...so if it happens Ill update yall on how that went. Other than that have fun playing and drinking!

This place was pretty cool. It was like $10 to get in and all the games were free. Bunch of pinball machines, asteroids, street fighter, donkey kong, space invaders, all the old ones that were good. Staff was friendly. Would recommend.

Great place to go for the games, food, and drinks. They are taking COVID-19 seriously and have processes in place to minimize risks (masks required, frequent cleaning, free sanitizing stations). My 6 and 9 year-olds love it, and so do I (38 years old).

Masks provided and staff is friendly. Food is good for the venue ( sandwiches and snacks!) . Plenty of games that get lots of care to keep running smoothly!

Great place, games were awesome. I dont expect them to have every single one of my favorite machines from my trips to Chuck E. Cheese in the early 90s, but they had a surprising lot of them! Price was very fair and reasonable.Only reason I give it 4 stars is the young man at the front was VERY short and rude. It was noisy in there and I asked him to repeat the total. You wouldve thought I was trying to get under his skin.

I really like this setup. We went here for our work party and the person that set it up said it was very inexpensive. I dont know the exact price but I thought she said it was around $10 per table and then approx $5 per person and its unlimited free play. Youre given a wristband that will show you paid and then you can go in and out as you please.The arcade is large and its mainly games from the 80s. There were even games Id never seen or heard of. The atmosphere was good and the food they served was very good. You also get 2 tickets for 2 free drinks. This is a good find for large group activities.

The best arcade in Dallas, no contest. Every cabinet has original hardware and stays in excellent condition. Great sandwiches and beer selection to go with the selection of games.

Its not Disneyland, but Free Play Arcade, thats the happiest place on Earth. From the retro decor, to the 80s new wave pumped through the speakers, to the amazing game selection, this joint is a blast of nostalgic magic. The admission price is crazy cheap, the drink selection is great. I recommend Free Play to everyone and nobody has been disappointed. Special shout out to the tournament MC, Chris Delp, who interacts with the kids like a modern day Jesus Christ. Ive never seen a kinder, more friendly man.

Best throw back arcade in the metroplex if not the best arcade Ive ever visited. $11 gives you unlimited free game play. All the best games from the 80s and 90s are here and more importantly they were all in great working order. This place even won two awards from the 2019 Observer - Best Retro Arcade in Dallas AND Best Beer Selection in Dallas!

Single cover charge for all day fun! Great selection of games, pinball, and classics. All genres covered: racing, shooting, fighting, sports, reaction, and more. Clean and organized. They sell beer and sodas, but also offer free water. Free re-entry as well if you leave to grab a bite.

My favorite arcade in the northern Dallas area! Prices are awesome and staff is very friendly. I commonly come with my son and his little friends and I never have any issues. Easy to keep an eye on your kids with one door entrance and exit at front. Machines are organized well, easy to see everything in the row of watching children.

I love this place but you have google list you as open. Youre not open. I was there at 5 and youre closed. Everywhere else says theyre closed for the virus. Please fix your Google page.

I took my 17 year old Son and his friends here for his birthday. It was my first time there and it will not be my last! I felt like a kid again. We were there from 3pm until 9pm and had a blast! Friendly staff and great games!

Been going every Sunday since February, brought the family and nieces about 3 weeks ago and my dad loves the Qix & marble madness games.

Worth every one of the three and half hours hours drive to get there. Especially enjoyed the expanded drink menu ( since my last visit). Staff was friendly. Loved the music as it just brought me back to the 80s and 90s that I enjoyed playing these games as a much younger man.

Loved it. Went with my 5 yr old son who didnt grow up playing these and he still had a blast.

The Bartender put a round of drinks for everyone at the bar a on my tab, because i was drunk and was taking an uber home, they thought i wouldnt notice. when i brought up the hefty bill to the management, i was met with disrespect and discourtesy. there are better places around with better games, better food, and better service by far.

Love coming here and playing some fun games with friends. We often come for a bit, leave to eat and hang out, and come back. Theyll let you re-enter same day. Nice!

New tradition: go to Saigon noodle. Get the pad Thai. Go to free play. Get a beer you know you like. Play a game you think you remember liking. Get a beer that sounds good. Play games you dont care about but are fun. Get a pickle beer and regret it. But then play some more games fueled by a colt 45 to wash away the pickle beer.

I cant believe I never been to this place till today! Lots of fun, especially if you like retro/vintage games. Thank you Gayle and the Richardson staff for helping me set up my birthday event! Definitely will be back soon!

Great fun for an older visitor who remembers these games from their original deployment in the 1980s. Weekend crowds are much younger and packed more densely. Great for business but not for older parties who want a more relaxed gaming visit. Advice: go earlier in the day and youll enjoy it more. Great selection of beers, drinks, and snacks. Huge assortment of 1st generation arcade hardware often rotated out to put different units on the floor. Great concept very well executed by the owners.

My family and I had such a great time! Its affordable and my kids loved playing all the vintage games! All the games were original and in perfect working condition. It was clean and everyone was very friendly!

Had a great time. There are a lot of different arcade games to choose from. I love how they have only 21 and up on weekends after 9. Its a good price to be able to play all the games you want.

Fun place for older kids and adults, since most games are from their childhood. Kind of small. Can only reserve 2 small tables for a birthday party. A fun time was had by us all.

One of the few arcades still around, and definitely one of the best. Nice selection of arcade machines all set to unlimited play. All you pay is one reasonable entry price. The vibe is upbeat with 80s music blasting in the background. Food and drinks also available, but I havent tried the food. All around, a fun place.

Think of Free Play as the best, most well-maintained arcade you ever went to as a kid, but with beer, a flat-fee entry, and all the machines set to free play. Unlike so many retro arcades, you wont find emulators and broken games. All the games are original, lovingly taken care of, and remarkably well curated. Besides all the old standards, youll find games here you might never have seen the first time around.The staff is knowledgeable, too. Ask them what games are new or what to check out.

For $10 you get access to tons of arcade and pinball machines both old and... Newer.Most of the machines are in very good conditions and often work well. The drink prices are fair and the food is decent enough (though there are lots of cheaper fast food options nearby).Still, $4 for a bottle of Bluemoon is not bad at all! Go check them out!

Wow! Talk about a throw back! Small fee to get in, good prices on drinks and food (awesome selection of beers too I might add) and a TON of cabinet video games as well as pinball tables! Staff was amazingly fun and friendly, you can tell they love people and their jobs!

Much smaller than you think. The pictures really hide the true dimensions. Very few pinball machines and the arcade selection isnt anything exciting. Prices are right though. Recommended, just dont get your hopes up

Fun place on Tuesdays! However, during my visit it was extremely hot inside the building. I chock it up to being the fact there are so many machines and stuff, but, still! Whew!

The actual arcades are cool and its pretty decent atmosphere. However I would not ever recommend this place. I cant speak for the rest of the menu but the pizza is bland and stale. The staff is the worst part of this place. They act as if the customer is an inconvenience. This was my first and last time here. Id honestly give it zero stars if I could.

It was fun, I loved playing old school video games like Galaga, Street Fighter, even the pinball machines were fun. I just wished they kept duck hunt since I am a great shot.

Had a large party there for my husband and service was terrible. Clearly not enough staff and we could never tell who the staff was because everyone was wearing normal clothes. We had to ask the bartender to bring out cake that we had in cooler and told me to wait because it was busy. I get that, but we never had a server. The server we had was the cook who brought out our food. We requested someone to come pick up plates from our table to make room for the cake but no one ever came, we ended up moving all used plates to another empty table. Not one staff person ever smiled. No one was friendly. Only good thing i can say, surprisingly the food was phenomenal. We will never go back.

Games were cool but the service was not good. My wife was passed up at the bar multiple times for no reason until one of the other customers made the bartender realize she had been waiting for a while. Then our card was charged 12 times for our $80 bill. Doesnt make sense. We wont go back there again.

This is a great location to bring the whole family. A lot of people have tried this concept but Free Play did it right. All the games work very well and they have a great mix of the classics. The beer selection was surprisingly decent but the prices were a little high. This is a place you can definitely spend more than 2 hours at. During the weekends that can get crowded with a ton of kids. I will be going back soon.

This place is pure 80’s awesomeness!! I hosted a birthday party here and the service was excellent! We dressed up decorated, had a reserved section and totally got into the throw back of our teenage years! Pick an 80’s game and odds are they have it! I was in Pac-Man heaven! You pay one flat fee and play for an hour! The food is pretty good too! The bar serves great drinks, and fun non alcoholic drinks from the 80’s too! We love this place and have been back several times. It’s a unique experience and a fun night out with friends or a date night. Highly recommend!

Great selection of old school arcade games! Cover is only $10! Easy and straight forward layout. There are plenty of spots to put your drink and bags when you play. Pretty much played everything until I was bored or tired. Bar is a plus! Bartenders are fast and prices are good. Im pretty sure they will add newer games sooner or later but I had a blast with what they had. I even saw a group have a gamer setup (not sure what they were playing). For $10 (plus drinks) I had a great time! Glad to have this around! Wish they stayed open until 2!

Well, lets see. I used to love this place, until tonight. I bought several drinks and at the end of the night after I bought my last(5th) drink, I presented my drink punch card and the man behind the bar(mike) said i would have had to have a tab open for him to tally. Im confused as to why nobody ever asked me if i would like to open a tab, but thats beside the point. I was asking him if he didnt remember me buying several drinks and he proceeded to ignore me and talk to the man next to me. The customer tells me to shut up and then starts calling me names, and mike never even looks at me, never apologized, and continued to serve the man and punch his punch card. took a bit of coaxing for him to punch my card ONCE for the 5 drinks I bought tonight. I felt very disrespected and I will not be back.

For $11 per person, you can let your inner child play unlimited Pac-Man... and other games. This place is great for the family but they do have adult time, which is pretty cool. The sandwiches are also really tasty if you get munchies.

Reminiscent of the 80s and 90s acades with the same games of that era with a few newer items tossed in. Bar onsite as well...$11 to enter and play unlimited, we killed three hours in the blink of an eye. Had a great time...just wssh your hands ofter since everyone there is using the same equipment as you....great value, great business venture, great fun.

Great place but should be bigger. Moving to the plaza around Alamo Drafthouse would be great. Much bigger location and better visibility.

Beer and broken glass on the floors. The bathrooms were pretty gross. But, they do have an impressive beer/ipa beer list. It was fun walking around seeing all the games they had. The majority of them all functioned as they should. It’s a cool place to check out.

Great place to go with kids or on a date. They have all the throw back video games. Had a blast! Highly recommend! All the games you want for as long as you want for a very low price. Its kind of hidden away so you have to look for it but its behind Long John Silvers.

Great arcade! Entry fee is reasonable and all games are on Free Play! Huge variety of retro games and some modern. They have a good variety of beers and a decent food menu. There is seating for eating so you dont have to try to eat at an arcade cabinet. They play a great variety of 80s music. Staff are all very helpful and friendly.

Came here with family, had a great time!!!!! $10 will give you free play in all the retro machines games, they really need an extra miss Pac-Man! I waited an hour and could never grab it :( other than that all the games are good,ordered a pizza and tasted great! My beer was good and will def go back! :)

Okay to give my honest review on this place is why I’m writing to inform my audience the experience I have had at this place. My first reason why I didn’t give this place a full five stars is because number one as a retro gamer there was a good selection of classics games to choose from but there wasn’t any blitz football, tekken, and it’s crowded in this place. In conclusion to my review I will say this is an awesome place to hangout and game and drink.

This is a great retro arcade. The food is good and they change the games out regularly so there are always new (old) games to play.

Wonderful place to play arcade games. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the single fixed admission price is great for unlimited play time. They have an extensive variety of games, including both classic games and some newer titles, spanning pretty much every genre. I highly recommend this arcade, it is tons of fun and a great value.
