A paved, well-maintained short interpretive trail (loops through the north end of the park) through a protected Black River wetland. There’s a short unpaved trail more suited for foot use in the south part. Definitely worth a side-trip if bicycling along the Green River/Interurban trails.
Great place for wildlife watching. Many birds & small animals year-round.
Its quiet, not too crowded. Parking could be an issue, however more parking across the street.
Its beautiful and Rich with nature preserves and information on the native American duwamish tribe
A nice place to go for a walk and enjoy nature close to Renton.
The spot I stopped for a rest on my bike embodies summer.
Brand new paved trail, beautifully planted, natural (native?). Very enjoyable
A hidden love this place
If you dont like crowds and like trails, this is the place. Lowlands by Renton
Was very bare and confusing trails with no open space
Its a cool place if you want some solitude. There are no amenities and you feel like you have gone 100 miles from civization (you havent Ikea is about a mile away). There are some homeless folks out there at times - unless you plan on bringing them home and giving them a new place to live there always will be - it they are just people too. Pretty simple rule is dont go bothering them and they will likely not bother you. Lots of bird watching here but I suggest mosquito repellant... They are here all year round and lots of them live here.
I couldnt really find it...maybe things are changing, hopefully for the better! It started out as a dirt road which I questioned if I was at the right place since there is no parking. But there was a trail sign, yet halfway through it was totally under construction.
Id like to walk here frequently but theres homeless in the area. I would not recommend walking this area lone male or female. Its pretty much turned into a homeless encampment with all the litter and other things it brings. This use to be a pleasant place to walk.
Cool sites interesting place to walk but sometimes it can smell really horrible I believe there is a water treatment facility right by there so smells like a sewer at times.
I use to love coming down here but now its full of homeless. Renton needs to pass a law that says homeless cant camp in parks any more. Its getting out of control. Im so afraid to go into parks now I only go into 2-3 parks in Renton, every thing else is off limits due to the homeless population.
Beautiful area looks like it has been a homeless camp for a while, but we saw lots of signs of cleanup. The trails are easy to navigate, not paved anywhere but flattened gravel from a lot of use. Be careful of the stinging nettle, poison oak and briars in the summer.
I great park, without tons of people. What more can you ask for!
Nice place to go for a peaceful walk and smoke a joint enjoy nature all the different birds squirrels and rabbits
If Ive given in to my little dogs desire to come along in the car when I run errands, this is a nice little afternoon walk for her, and we dont have to go home. Theres a very easy paved trail along the river. There are some other less well tended trails throughout the area, which are much more interesting. You do run into the occasional tent dweller on this area, but it doesnt seem to be a big problem.
Nice place but smells pretty bad
For business, I have stayed at a nearby hotel for about 2 months. There are excellent trails along the Green River, making it a great place to refresh.
Today it was very muddy and unwalkable but its still a beautiful place
My boys loved it and theres a Lake at the bottom.
Please don’t go to this park, you have bunch of homeless people
The other park-goers here are very friendly. Many of them say hello as they pass and give a good smile. People sometimes offer to show you the trails around the park, but Ive never really had the chance to look around.Lots of wildlife. Saw many blue herons in the water.
The west side is very nice with many good walking paths. It is best to avoid the eastern side due to the large number of homeless camps that have appeared over the summer.
Ive been here about a dozen times now. I park on Naches Ave because thats where the directions took me. Its a beautiful, quiet slice of heaven in Renton. For all the times Ive walked it listening to my audio book Ive seen maybe 10 people. Im usually the only person on weekdays and maybe one or two others on weekends. For all the comments about homeless I can only think theyre outdated. While there are remnants of overnight camps, or rather there were, I think their inhabitants return at night only.Recently the entire area was cleaned up and all the trash and old litter was removed. The trail was manicured nicely and it looks wonderful. You can walk the full stretch and turn around, or loop on the train tracks. There are plenty of intentional openings in the fence. The graphiti wall across the tracks is awesome and always changing. Sometimes youll see someone tagging the wall and theyre always friendly.I recommend this place for runners, walkers, dog owners and anyone looking for a nice getaway. Come prepared for misquitos. They love the shaded areas where puddles dont dry up as fast.
Little scary park in Renton WA. Seems like the kinda place for illicit, clandestine meetings. Lots of trash all around with piles of clothes in some spots. Sewage smell from water plant across the street gives it nice robust aroma. Would blow through on my bike, but its not a place to commune with nature on a hike.
Starts out beautiful, then becomes a disaster.Inside is filled with a homeless camp and used needles following mosquito infested sitting water. I believe it was once a beautiful place... :(
Id come to this place in winter time take a photos of Great Blue Heron. Ducks and Canada geese are here too! Dont come in late spring and summer cause mosquitos will definitely harass you!
Maybe I didnt go to the right part but there was no parking and the trails were really narrow. Lots of mosquitoes. Not great for toddlers. No facilities. We saw some ducks really far away. The trails arent marked so I didnt know which way we should go.
Love the trees! Expand the urban forest.
I was looking forward to catching a few unique snakes, turtles and frogs, to get high def pictures of them but this area was entrenched with homeless camps. Tarps for roofs and just trashed with massive amounts of waste and litter. I also found a camp that contained a lot of various stolen items. Women should not go jogging here alone unless they have a very large attack dog. I was approached by 3 different individuals who attempted to intimidate me and acted territorial. Shame on you Washington for calling this a protected riparian habitat. Definitely doesnt deserve its greenzone status here.
Nice place to take a short break on a busy day
The hiking area is littered with trash and signs of homeless encampments. Part of the walking path is paved while the rest is just a dirt trail next to a boggy swamp river. Parts of the trail have strong foul odors which either come from the river or the water treatment facility nearby. Not good for walking dogs or kids as the area seems a bit unsafe and there is low visibility from the road nearby. If you plan to visit bring a companion for safety.
BEAUTIFUL!
Black River Riparian Forest and Wetland is a nice spot away from the city life.
Its quiet and a great place to camp
It just a nice time
Great for a trial walk in the woods. Quite secluded.
Just a nice place over all to go for a short walk and temporarily escape the city.
Deranged hobos wander through this area, LOOKOUT.
These are NOT the directions to the trailhead! This is the backwoods path, full of trash and mosquitos.
Love this wetland.
No facilities or improvements.
Lots of trail to sexplore
Lots of people live here. However, it has prairie plants and red tailed hawks.
Beautiful day
Great place to cruise.
A hidden gem in the valley
Great spot for birding.
A small trail runs parllel to this river. Nothing special .
Lots of Raptors. Abs Piparians
Bums and stuff
This land is part of the sewer plant. Smells really bad sometimes. Trash site nearby. Stinky area.
Garbage, EVERYWHERE.
Tranquil and peaceful
I live the trails here
Homeless people as far as the eye can see on this walk.
Swamp with trails
Super shady.... Both ways.
Cool
A possible hummingbird sanctuary
Peaceful place
Lots of garbage

Black River Riparian Forest and Wetland is a nice area to visit.
Quite the place.well worth the trip
Who shut off the tap? (Lake Washington, back in 1917--it used to flow North-South, into the then-Black River and the Duwamish. The opening of the Lake Washington Ship Canal [in 1917], permanently lowered the Lake by >9 feet--and changed the flow to South [Cedar River]-North : Into the Ship Canal--and westward toward Puget Sound.) Now the Black River-is just a desolate swampland!: Black Rivers [sic] Matter!
Great trails. Beautiful.
