After venturing through a ridiculous amount of trash, the trail opens up to the clean beauty of nature. Very easy trail to follow. Nice and rocky and easy going down to the peace sign. Coming back, especially on a thick, hot, summer day is more challenging, especially with 2 kids in tow!

Had real fun. The place is cool. The only thing is if we see rocks we want to climb and we did but after we got to a point of no return we realized the rock face is very very unstable. I was behind my son and he kicked some loose rock out as we climbed a fairly large one smashed me on the head and caused me to slide about ten feet down the face. I thought I was done for. But I was able to get a grip but I received a very deep cut on my hand. I kind of started to loose it but I had to keep my head because it was a long way down. We final made it to the top. It is a great view but I do not recommend climbing the steep face. I ended up with 5 stitches in my hand but didnt mind because we didnt die

Nothing to see here, do not let this confuse you with the peace rock cliff jump on blue mountain road

In 1967, LeRoy G. Levan and a handful of friends on break from college decided to paint a giant peace sign to protest the Vietnam War. They chose a large rock which was a scar on Mount Penn from quarrying more than a century ago.The sign measures about 30 feet in diameter and is located on Mount Penn north of the Pagoda and about three blocks south of Reading High School.Today its hard to spot from Readings streets. Its tough to see with a full foliage of green leaves and the paint has faded some.It can best be seen from upper floors of the Berks County Courthouse or in the winter after the trees are bare.

Its a cool place to hike to but beware of the trash everywhere due to lazy people littering and homeless people who live in the woods near there.
