Loved visiting this museum. Lots of interesting artifacts with plenty of accompanying info and stories. The guide was super friendly and helpful but still gave us space to experience the museum for ourselves—she even gave my son a cookie! It’s a small museum—we spent about thirty min here but if you read everything you’d probably be there longer. There are some troubling exhibits (restraining devices, etc.) but overall I’d say this is a place worth visiting. Since it’s lesser known and out of the way, it’s never very busy, which is nice. I took off a star because the hours are so limited.
This place is a precious gem. Go. Learn. Understand.
Super interesting for a history junky like myself. A look back into how mental hospitals were ran in a different time. I wish they were open more often, I’d be there every day!
The greenhouse has an amazingly friendly staff, and their prices are great!
Wonderful museum! The guide has worked here for quite some time and tells many stories from her own point of view. I love how transparent the hospital and museum is about its history and how they have drastically improved in their methods. If youre looking to gather information on how insane asylums were ran 100 years ago, this is the place for you!
Hidden gem in Provo. Does a great job explaining the history of USH and has a lot to look at. Very nice.
It was great...the guide was terrific. My Grandmother worked here as a nurse for MANY years...She dearly loved the people she served....
An interesting, though small museum that explores the history of what was then the Utah Insane Asylum as well as the (often sad) treatment of mentally unwell individuals from the late 1800s to today. The curator Janina was very knowledgeable and kind. Free entrance.
Obly drove by it. never went in
Interesting
