Really beautiful preserve. This place has over 11 miles of trails on over 600 acres of woods. The preserve has maps on the back of all the kiosks at each entrances. In addition to the traditional painted rectangles on trees they also have directional signposts at intersecting trails ( a few are need of repair). The woods varies in plant species and has streams running through it including Pigeon Creek. (A huge improvement would be to add a natural rock path in moist areas of the trail near Pigeon Creek to keep people from widening the trail- rock path like near Gordon Tripp Clements Shelter.) Several markers show where charcoal hearths
If youre into birds, butterflies, dragonflys and frogs then this is the place to go. Weve seen a scarlet tanager, cedar waxwings, ovenbirds and a whole bunch of warblers a few months ago when we went. They have a list of all birds spotted there which is awesome. Its incredibly peaceful and has very nice trails all around. Sometimes it feels like Im in the mountains. We went on a saturday with perfect weather and didnt pass a single person on the trails until we got back to the parking area. Their is also a basketball court where we park. The trails are mainly in the woods but they are well maintained and just simply beautiful. Love it there!
Very quiet and stay away its my Park
We had a fun adventure race here. Trails are well marked, minimal poison-ivy noted. Dont rely on GPS to get you to the right entrance however. Happy trails!
