The Twelfth Night Celebration held each December is wonderful. So authentic. You enter the front of the house and are treated as a visiting guest as your tour the candle lit house. The smells from the kitchen will make you hungry. The cook and helpers are preparing a spectacular feast for Mr Potts and his guest, who you meet all through the house in their party attire.
Nice tour! Our guide was super friendly. The historical rooms are very interesting.
I went here for special event. There were numerous period demonstrations including Dr. Ben Franklin (actor portrayal), who was excellent in character and very knowledgeable. Its fun to visit here from time to time and see how they change things up for the season/event. The staff and volunteers are friendly, welcoming and eager to share their knowledge. Family friendly, clean restrooms available.
Neil was fantastic! Loved the personalized tour and even though Covid restrictions made us distance, it was a great tour.
Our tour was fun and informative, Neil did a great job explaining everything to us
We went for the annual celebration of Twelfth Night. It was a great tour with reenactors that were very knowledgeable about the house and period (mid 1700s). The house was restored in great detail and is a must see for history bluffs. They do other events during the year as well. Cant wait to go back!
Very lovely upper class Colonial home, done in the original style and furnishings. The tour guides are friendly and knowledgeable. There was an authentic demo of candy and sweets making in kitchen area, done by costumed re-enactors. My friend and had a very pleasant afternoon, all for suggested donation price of $2.00. That is a bargin for anyone.
Wow! The Maintenance Fella Does A Bang-Up Job Here.... All I Can Say Is Wow!
Loved this museum, the staff brought the museum to life and the tour that we went on was so interesting and felt like we went back in time. It was such a magical time and filled with history. Would definitely want take my friends and other family here. It was that enjoyable, thanks for giving the best experience.
On a whim I stopped and visited the Pottsgrove Manor and Im so glad I did. The house is immaculately restored right down to the same original colors used in 1750. And better yet, the staff were extremely knowledgeable and welcoming. The staffs deep knowledge of history extends well beyond the house. They place the house in the context of the history of the era which makes it so much more informative and interesting. Anyone with the slightest interest in our history should visit, youll learn so much; I highly recommend it!!
Very interesting and historical.
Pottsgrove Manor, also known as the John Potts House, is a historic home located at Pottstown, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. It was built in 1752 by John Potts, and is a large two-story, rectangular, sandstone and fieldstone building in the Georgian style. It has a five-bay front facade, gable roof, and a center hall plan. The service wing was added 1790–1805, and the rebuilt east wing was built 1941–1952 during a restoration. It is open to the public as an 18th-century historic house museum owned by Montgomery County.
Great tour! And Iron Maiden Ann knows her stuff. Thank u
Excellent restored property highlighting colonial history of the area for the merchant class. Very interesting programs focusing on life in that era.
Nice place to visit even if just to stop by on a bike ride and have lunch. Clean flush type restrooms.
We love the events and we learn so much everytime we go here its never just the same old thing
A gem for history buffs interested in learning more about the creation of Pottstown. My guide was pleasant, knowledgeable and tolerated all my questions with great interest and finesse. Admission is by donation. Many interesting pieces well preserved.
Excellant museum with a different approach.
Tour guide was excellent! Extremely knowledge about the family and the period that the manor was built.
Really neat history building with daily hourly tours. The staff is very friendly. Great hands on learning experiences for the whole family. Check their website or call for a list of upcoming events.
Small but nice
Neat piece of local history.
Really a Hidden Gem in a small community. Well worth a visit. Beautifully restored with great staff.
The staff are really friendly and knowledgeable at this circa 1752 home. The tours about an hour long and really interesting. They actually have a cook making meals over a fire in the fireplace in the kitchen (at least they did today).
The best time to come here this when they have special functions and their own people dressed in period Garb talking about the history
Top notch staff were very friendly in sharing the story of this home. Well worth a visit!
