BEST PLACE EVER! ran into this gem randomly while looking for movies to go to. We saw a movie for 4$ and stayed for the 1-5 nickel games offered in the arcade! This is like heaven on Earth! Really reminds arcade places in Japan!We spent there a few hours just having fun!Would definitely come back to score some more tickets! ️️

Looking for younger kids arcade? This is definetly for them. Two game rooms and movie theater. A lot of the machines are for getting tickets. 3 cover charge and you load up swipe cards for machines and games. One 5 dollar swipe card goes a long way since its a nickel arcade. Most machines range from 2 nickels to 6 nickels. I played a lot of 3 to 4 nickel games. We loved the coin machines the most! Staff was super chill and nice. We went on a Wednesday so it wasnt too busy.

So, so much fun. You can easily spend 6 hours here without a problem. Movies are great - I personally watched Zombieland, absolutely hilarious. The staff is so extremely friendly and genuinely seem happy and like theyre having fun. The games are fun and its super, super easy to get tickets. I actually got over 7000 tickets with the group I went with. That was enough to get a drone and some more. Lots of fun, swing by if you get the chance! (Parents, bars are nearby!) If you go and want to get lots of tickets, make sure to play the coin pusher game ;)

Its basically like Chuckee Cheese without the mascot and silly show. Fun for the kids but I dont think parents should have to pay the entrance fee. I would have spent more if I didnt have to pay to just be there.

This place is terrible! Don’t waste your money! Never before has a business treated me so terrible. I have been here numerous times and spend hundreds of dollars here with my family. Never has any of the employees or the management said if you earn points till closing time that you can’t redeem your points. I left today with a crying toddlers because they refused to let him redeem our points. Never was it disclosed and it is not in writing anywhere. I will make sure none of my friends and family member step foot here again. They didn’t even try to apologize. These people should not be in business they have such a bad attitude and need to learn proper business practices! I will be reviewing them everywhere and reporting to the better business bureau. You better believe it. What a bunch of clowns!

I have always been a big fan of the nickel arcade since I was a kid! And I do not think it has changed since then. its a great place to go with the kiddies on a hot summer day and not have to spend a ton of money, since many games cost 1-2 nickels, I think the most is 4 nickels. You can also catch a movie at the Avalon while youre there.

Nice little arcade with a little theater. Parking is difficult with most everything nearby havong a 15 or 60 minute limit. Your money is put on a rechargeable card that allows for simple refilling and stashes all your tickets too.

Selection is limited, lots of repeats. Ticket games are mostly gambling or chance, very few are games of skill. Allot of racing and shooting games that dont give tickets. Only music game is guitar hero, no dancing games.

Always popular with the family, its easy to stretch a buck with nickels and the quarterly mail coupon. Cheap movies and cool prizes available.

I always have enjoyed the novelty of this place. I havent been here for years, since I was a teenager, but a friend and I decided to go the other day. Still seems to be about the same. I do have a big complaint however, the overwhelming and distinct smell of urine throughout the entire place. It was unmistakable and extremely unpleasant. Wouldve stayed longer if it didnt smell like piss.

Love this place! You pay around $4 to get in and the games cost anywhere from $.05 to $.40 per game. Very cheap to play games for hours. Very clean. Fun for all ages

The games could be updated. Some were out of order and a few dont function properly. We do love going to play though. Were members. It does have value for the price of admission. Most of the games are fun to play.

I have been going there for over 30 years. It is still a fun way to spend an afternoon or evening. I recommend the 3D Dark Ride.

My favorite go to place to pass time when Im in Portland. Finding parking can be a nightmare but once youre in nothing but fun times and good memories! They updated some of the games and also switched to card play (they are reloadabl). No need to lug in your nickels. Also they show movies there to. Very kid friendly place to be.

I spent the better part of twenty years taking my kids there and going there with my adult friends weve had many birthday parties and lots of great fun times there I was sad to see they got rid of a lot of the old games and brought in the new stuff but I get you have to keep up with the times but I wish theyd bring back the trucker game. Its a great place to take the family for fun you can actually take your family to the movies and get snacks for less than $20 for the whole family if you sign up online they send you great coupons for free entrance and free Nichols I dont think Ive paid an entrance fee in 20 years theyre great about always sending out their invites and on your birthday month you get extra nickels and extra entrances I am convinced the place is haunted though a lot of weird stuff happens in the back of womens bathroom and it did used to be a morgue this is definitely the place to go youre wanting to have fun with your kids and its great on a rainy cold day

Super-fun & super-cheap, if not the most modern. It has a kitschy-coolness to it, and your younger ones wont notice the games arent the latest technology. (I daresay you wont care either once youre immersed in the classics!) Go have a blast!

Understandable policy goes too far. My 7 year old was invited to a birthday party here. He’s never been before and doesn’t know the birthday boy’s parents, so I want to walk him to the party tables so he knows where they are and introduce him to the supervising adults so he knows who they are if he needs help. If you walk in, you HAVE to pay full admission no matter what. There is no allowance to walk young kids to the party and the place doesn’t provide staff to do it. So full admission was paid for the two minutes it took me to walk him back and then leave. Then, when I went to pick him up, they make you pay full admission a second time to go in to get him. I felt terrible for the parents hosting the party. They spent most of their time shuttling kids in and out instead of getting to enjoy the party or supervising the safety of a group of young kids in a public arcade. Worst of all, they paid twice for a lot of parents who just dropped off or picked up their kids and didn’t utilize the place at all. The place also limited the number of times the birthday party hosts could walk in or out such as taking gifts to the car. I understand wanting to ensure no one inside skipped paying their due, but this is too extreme. It left all of the young kids in an unsafe and unsupervised situation and the party hosts paying way over what they should.

Awesome place. My kids always have fun and it is a super affordable outing. Game rooms and prizes keep the kids asking to go again.

Disappointing used to be better with the nickels. Have had many issues with the games, they dont either dont care to fix certain issues with games or dont know how. My family has had the manager be very rude to them. Lastly one of the games I played was supposed to pay out 500 tickets I instead got 100. I went to go see if the staff would resolve this, but to my surprise they told me they put a label on the game that basically told you that if it malfunctioned it was not their problem.

Pretty good arcade. Cost effective. You can be there for over an hour on 5 bucks. Plus admission. Last time i went it came out to around 14 bucks for two people, total. So very cheap. Very busy on Saturdays though.

Super fun arcade your can go to on a budget. Spend 15 bucks and you will be busy for 2 or so hours. They had a nice mixture of old and new games along with ticket winning and not for prize games. Would definitely recommend to anyone that likes arcades.

The guy at the desk wouldnt let me bring in my sons birthday cake. One of the parties that reserved several tables only ended up using like one or 2 tables and had given one to us. It was just me, my 2 sons and their father. The guy behind the counter said we had to have a table which inex9lain2d to him the other party gave us one amd he said we had to be the ones to pay for the table. So we offered to lay for the table or ALL the tables even though we were only using the one table and he said no. And it wasnt just that he was saying no it was his attitude while he was saying no. Totally rude about it.

The Dark Ride is the most fun thing in the whole world I would suggest if youre going to go to the arcade section though bring your own nickels because if you get it there theyll only give you like half of what its worth the movies are worth it if you go on the discount days and then go to the Dark Ride thats my favorite thing to do bus stop goes right in front of it make sure that you get there enough time though because otherwise youll miss the last bus

Nothing too fancy, but this is a great place to come spend an hour playing some games without breaking the bank. There’s something for everyone ! Most games don’t cost more than a quarter to play and they also show movies for under $5.

Fun place to take kids without breaking the bank.

The place is ok. But its hot. 80+and if you go outside to get air you have to pay to get back in. Which is whatever since it was like 4 bucks but the lady was super rude about it. She didnt say hey sorry but you have to pay to get back in she started full blown yelling across the room telling me that I had to pay or leave. Also the amount of people in there crowded around the prizes was a little ridiculous. It was a struggle to get my 6 year olds the prizes she wanted.

This is one of our favorite date night activities. So many fun games, the staff keeps everything clean, and its very rare that any machines are broken. Weve been coming here for years.

We always love coming here as a family. Our 5 year old son has autism and this is a great place to take him to get some sensory output. Lots of bright lights and sounds. All areas of the arcade are wheelchair accessible. Parking is usually the most frustrating part of going here.

Not good at all, they charge cover charge for everyone parents, kids, and adults, which is okay, if you go out for any reason then you come back, they charge cover charge again, even if you go outside the door for one minute. Chuck cheese is way much better than this place.

I like the cheap price for the tickets but when i ordered my popcorn as large i was given and rung up for a medium. I was told no refills on the drink and its 50 cents for just water... Wasnt impressed with their customer service either

Solid arcade, cheap games and an ok atmosphere.

The people at the counter were really nice, me and my brother went in and played Space Invaders and Halo: Fireteam Raven and it was awesome.

I have never been to an Arcade like this before. We had so much fun here and will go back every time we are in Portland. The nickel Arcade was so worth it!!

Took my 9 year old daughter, since shed never been to a proper arcade before. She had a blast and we spent over an hour there for more than $10. She rates it 5 stars.The value is great but some of the games could be better. Theres a lot of win tickets-type pseudo-games, which Im not a fan of.I cant speak to the movie screens, since we didnt watch a movie there.A great value and kids are sure to have a great time.

The manager is awesome. He is always welcoming. A couple people working dont get it yet, but they may be new. They double charged for a few prizes my kids gotten and tried to deny it. I watched her do so.

It does activate my fear of heights and falling, and I get a bit scared, but I keep going back to shoot all the monsters bc its really fun I miss the Dirty Drivin racing game (Yank the crank!). That seems to have been replaced sort of recently.

Not enough variety, not enough music based games, no dancing games and way to many shooting and racing games.and ticket games are mostly games of chance and not skill.

Its okay the building is very old its good for a family bonding but is not good to take your date.

The games here are pretty good. Be advised that although its a nickel arcade you dont use nickels in the machine so leave your coins at home. You prepay on a card and use that card as currency for the games. The movie theater screens are small but still good and you cant beat the price. So glad places like this still exist. The perfect place for fun on a budget.

We went to see a movie and we were surprised how cheap the tickets were. They are older movies but still nice to sit in a theater with surround sound. The seats are a little old but still a bit comfortable. Overall pretty nice and worth the 2.50

It was fun. Kinda small and can use a few more games. Ive only played in the arcade and havent went in the theater so I cant give my opinion on that part.

Owner-Woody is extremely rude, nobody was using the tables in the reserved area and he would not let us reserve a table on the spot for my fathers birthday, even though we were willing to pay. Said you have to give 24 hour notice and cannot bring in cupcakes. Will not be going back! Poor customer service!

This place was a great time. Arcade machines all over the place. All sorts of game types. They have some fun prizes at the end too.

When we went up to redeem our tickets the two girls counted our tickets then proceeded to help other people. The next avaiable girl came up and said she could help who was next. When we told her we hadnt been helped and the other two girls scanned the boys cards she told us we needed to wait for them to help us. She had the most attitude so we just left. Trash experience for my nephews first time there. They need to be trained better. One of the girls who originally scanned our cards was rude as well. She had the most attitude on her face. As if she hated her job. Do better.

This place is the JAM! Granted there is an entry fee BUT once youre in, the games are on the CHEAP ranging from $.10 - $.30 at the most!! There are only like 2 pinball machines (I love pinball) but they are only like .15 or .20 a game!! Both tables they offer currently are fun but I liked the Shrek one a little more. The ticket games are a lot of fun too and we have an absolute blast playing them every time. I even got a magic 8 ball the last time we played here!! FTW there is a decent factory and selection of shooting and racing games. Its just a fun place to kick it for a couple hours and stay out of the rain.Theres even a movie theater attached that appears to play 3 or 4 kids movies that are relatively new and they are cheap too. The lat time we went there were 3 of us, we each got $5 play cards and our total ended up being like $23 and we hung out for like 3 hours and had a blast! Great family bonding on a budget

It was fun enough... But not as good as it was when I was a kid. Thats not just nostalgia; theres fewer machines than there were.So it goes, I guess. The card systems pretty nice, admission is pretty fair, and the cost of games is pretty fair, too.

It was a fun experience in general. I really enjoyed my time. It would be nice if there was a bigger variety of games. There was a lot of repeated games. But I would definitely visit again. And I would recommend it to anyone.

I taken many people on the dark ride here I recommend it to anyone that ever wants to have any kind of adrenaline fun its absolutely recommended its part of us its part of Portland and it only takes 7 minutes out of your day for the Dark Ride you can go on many oh yeah its also main thing is they have the movie theater and its a huge Nickel Arcade probably the best in Portland

This place has been a local favorite of mine since I was a kid. They have pretty much everything youd want from an arcade, and its surprisingly cheap. You can easily get hours of fun for $10-15.

Its a fantastic way to spend an evening. The staff are friendly, fun, and helpful.

I used to love this place. But this time half the games were broken and there were so many 20 something year olds cussing really loud. Noone would fix the games or correct people cussing in front of the kids. Most of which were really young.

Very fun for kids and adults. Helpful staff. Had game freeze up and they were there to fix it quickly.

Games are less than 40 cents per play! That includes the light gun shooters and racing games. Good times. There is an entry fee and we loaded 10$ per person. Had a blast. Cant bring food and drinks in with you to the arcade. They also have a small movie theater.

Great games and pricing but horribly inconvenient layout for parents. There is little to breathing room in the establishment. Very easy to overcrowd and get stuck standing in the same spot at choke points. I wouldnt be surprised if people were trampled, due to an emergency.

What can I say, you wont go wrong. Always fun and good times.

This is the most fun Ive had in a while. Playing skeeball, air hockey, and all the great arcade games of childhood was great. We each got a card with $5 each on it and it lasted us more than an hour.

This is the most reasonably priced arcade ive ever been too. I was going hoping they’d have more pinball but they only had 2 pretty beat up games. Nevertheless we had a blast. They charge a small cover to get in but then the games are 20 cents (4 nickels no joke). Some of these games they are charging 20 cents to play cost $20,000 so the value you are getting is unreal. If you are looking for pinball it’s probably not your place but all other arcade games then it is.

There was a ticket mixup for the 3D ride. My husband and I paid for our tickets and with the bustle of the large crowd (it was my friends birthday) we either dropped our tickets or were never handed them. Who knows. We had barely stepped away from the counter when I realized I didnt have them so I asked the manager to check our receipt and reprint tickets. He was so completely rude to us and accused us of stealing. We had already been on the ride before. Why would we rob him of 3.25? We showed him our receipt. He proceeded to stop the whole line to play back the footage on the camera. We felt so mistreated and shamed over a simple misunderstanding. We will never return here under this management. The guy running the ride was amazing. Unfortunately, it was the manager who was disgustingly rude. Even yelled at us as we walked out. This was very poor service.
