This is my favorite cooling off spot, no matter where in Portland I live this is where I come when its hot. Make sure you have tennis shoes or aqua socks on to protect your feet from the surface youll be walking on... kinda sharp.
Cleaning the park they are, as usual, right? (And yes, it should be cleaned, though how...)It is a lovely place and some people have no where else to sit and have a rest. So where do you send them away from their homes, when all the places are deemed COVID places to clean and not suitable for the living? Busses, trains, the US Courthouse? Its a question that needs answering to-day for those needing a home. Unless of course you want all of us to spit in the streets.Think.
It still a beautiful spot but the fountain is not actually running so that part is kind of a let down.
My grandfather had a bakery at this address many years ago. I was looking at a photo of it and noticed on the back my mother had written the address of the bakery. I realised this water park was the address. I decided to take a guitar and play there. No one around. It looked like the maintenance people had begun to clean the walls there. No waterfalls working. It was peaceful. I played to the Keller and thought about my Papou. As I left, an hour later, I noticed a homelessness man - he heard my meanderings. So did God
Public parks should all be this awesome! Sometimes the secret room behind the waterfall even doesnt smell like death.
Tomb raider type pillars, raised platforms, wading pools, waterfalls with vaguely-hidden access underneath the falls and behind them... all these things and more make this one of the greatest fountains in Portland. I like to act like I can parkour and hop around. Some of the areas here are pretty serious so watch out if you have little ones; but, with a watchful eye this park is a wonderful destination for all. In the summer you will find this park full of people from all stages of life cooling down in it’s brisk moving currents while others enjoy picnics and sun-bathing. Super fun place for you and your adventurous companions.
When its on, its on! Great masonry work. Good location. Limited seating.
Sure to Covid19, the park want that exciting but it was need to see the structure of it. Although, the hidden water that was in the corner smelled pretty bad unfortunately .
For the person whose question I was answering all the pictures -- Google mixed up the order of the pictures that I had. So some of them are Lovejoy Fountain and some of them are Keller fountain. I had the sign in front of each set but thats not the case. So you dont know which ones are which. Sorry about that.
There are many homeless which ruins the scene. They camp there and the place became dirty. I hope they respect the park. Other than that, it looks good to me.
Something to cross off the bucket list when in Portland! A cool instagramable spot!
Such a cool park; really impressive water features. Definitely worth the visit!
One of Portlands largest fountains and certainly one of the most popular. This downtown fountain is packed on hot days with folks of all ages cooling off in the water (Not sure if this is permitted by the city or not).
So we literally walked by this park as we were walking from our hotel to Ross. It is absolutely beautiful and just peaceful. There were a few people taking pictures and couples just relaxing. If you have a few minutes, this stop is well worth it.
Beautiful urban water feature in the middle of downtown Portland. Definitely worth checking out but I would be cautious of sitting down anywhere here as the smell of urine was a little overwhelming as well as people with open liquor/smoking-not so kid friendly.
This is so beautiful and functional for the hot weather, right in the middle of down town! Youre able to walk behind the falls and get in the pools to cool off. The only issue I had was no bathroom. They closed closed them. Well worth spending a few hour though!
My favorite fountain in Portland. Just love the waterfalls now that theyre back open.
Nice place to sit and people watch
I really like the design of the place
Its very relaxing to walk through or have lunch in the park. Its clean and the Park Rangers come by on a regular basis. There is a popular food cart nearby, and a few walk in restaurants within a block. The only draw back is lack of public bathrooms, although 200 Market St building has them.
The amount of parks that were strewn around town is amazing. This fountain is one of those little gems. The only reason for 4 stars is the number of people who show up for a dip to cool off on a hot day, wow. It was 95 when we were there and the fountain looked like a public pool. When not a pool or bath, this is a great place to relax.
Very surprised at how large this fountain is both tall and wide. I thought it was only street level but turns out you walk down steps and it’s quite tall and wide. A great place to take photos with a pretty backdrop.
Beautiful spot and a must see when in Portland! Unfortunately, the water was already turned off when I went but it was still beautiful! A couple was getting their wedding photos done by it!
Usually a peaceful place. Can be busy at lunch during week, though is still peaceful. Much here to distract from city around.
I loved the fountain. It’s so relaxing!
The pictures dont do it justice, you kinda have to just see it for yourself. Absolutely gorgeous design. Its funny to spot the locals just chillin there alongside the awestruck tourists..
Cool little fountain in the downtown area where you can sit and relax and enjoy the sounds of the water. Its not too crowded and a perfect place to have a little picnic. Theres lots of different angles and views that you can look at.
Beautiful place to relax really enjoyed it
Cities are defined by free public infrastructure. This beautiful artificial waterfall is unique and should be on a short list of every traveler.
Cool place to beat the heat
This place is supposed to be a good place for relaxation and water playing for local resident. But for me, it was the last place I visited before leaving Portland. I already missed the city.
Beautiful block to explore
Beautiful but it smelled like pee on the right side
The most artistic water park on the west coast. Something like this would never be built today. Coolest park in Portland.
They need to clean it up and put the water in the fountain so it actually is worth even looking at
Its beautiful when the homeless arent stacked up there all day long.
Nice place to just sit, dip your legs into the water and relax!
Lovely little park within the city. Its a relaxing place to read a book, eat or meditate. Usually not very crowded and its mesmerizing to look at the water.
Nice place,must visit
We had such a great day at Echo Park! Its nothing like I remember it when I was little. It was very clean and lots of areas for a picnic, the views were amazing and the kids loved the paddle boat ride! We will definitely be back again... The only down side, the bathroom need more attention.
I love this park, and this fountain. Perfect spot to sit and relax. Take a load off your feet.
Even dry the fountain is a beautiful structure. Great for doing stair runs?
Nice clean little park. The fountain is lovely. Nice to stop and enjoy for a few minutes
Great summertime refuge
It is very close to where I live - one of my favorite fountains anywhere. An oasis in the city, great place for children
One of the coolest and complex fountains. I could sit, watch and listen to this feature for hours.
Very cool, artistic fountain taking up an entire block. Dont miss the spot behind one of the falls
Looks like a beautiful place, couldnt tell as the fountains were not on
Beautiful fountain when its running, does not run in winter obviously.
Nice little find within all the buildings of downtown. Peaceful and relaxing
Disappointed to find no water in the fountain. Signs at the location said it is being renovated until Summer 2019. It is still an impressive structure and interesting design, but may not be worth your time if you are expecting a running fountain. Even the trees around the fountain accustomed to the environment seem to be suffering for want of water. There are too many other nice places to visit in the area. After Summer 2019 it may be worth the time to see.
I lived here every summer as a kid in the 70s
Great spot for to relax or have a photo shoot. They treat the water so it smells clean like a pool.
Very relaxing water fountain. You can take pictures, bathe, even enjoy a snack.
Its a nice place to relax and sit on the cement getting your feet wet
Its a great place to relax and cool off. Its super calm and really nice
Just love the whole vibe. Its very relaxing
Its not in the most highest quality part of town and theres also drugs being sold in the park but other than that is a nice place to be it is athsetically pleasing and theres a lot of nice things to look at.Nestled in the heart of southeast Portland its a great part to take the dog for a walk in and the neighborhood has cool people I love hippie Portland
A tranquil and peaceful escape from the sowntown traffic noise...its nice to see families enjoy the cool and refreshing water on a hot summer day
Nice cool place to visit
Small park but the sound of the falls makes this park stand out and a great place to relax!
Has several pools, kids love it and a nice place to cool off.
Great for climbing and goofing off downtown! Always a fun spot! :D
A unique 60s design. Great for kids too
My favorite fountain in Portland. Hats off to the city maintenance crews who keep this great park water feature beautiful.
Love dis joint!¡!
Anytime you feel hot and you live downtown Portland thats the best place to go Ira Keller I suggest people should visit it
Very disappointing, we came from Utah and drove straight there to find no water and homeless people all over the fountain. maybe we came at the wrong time because it seems to have good reviews?
Favorite Portland water fountain, unfortunately it only runs about 5 months a year.
Very pretty. Great place for a quick break from the density of downtown Portland. The little bit of water in the air from the fountain feels refreshing. There is nothing remarkable about this park, it is just a nice place.
Nice place to cool off during the summer months.
I call this a wonder world
Nice fountain, large scale. Worth a detour to walk by
Its amazing to be alone with a waterfall... In the midst of a half million people.
Nice place, good spot to sit and relax a bit.
Pretty area, nice place for Pokemon Go Raids.
Fun place to keep cool and the kids to play in water.
Super fun to play in. Also looks cool.
A nice place to spend a warm weather i the park.
This is a lovely place to bring your lunch and relax during the summer when the weather is nice and the fountain is running.
We were there in the evening, and it was so beautiful especially when the lights were on.
I love this place especially on very hot days! Nice cool place to relax
Great place to relax or play in the water on hot summer days
Nice but garbage and vandalism, cause Portland supports vagrancy
Nice place to spend a hot day at
I just cant wait for them to open it where we can sit in the falls.
Unexpected refreshing stop at this fountain park. Another hot summers day will find me with my feet in the fountain here. This is a wonderful spot for pictures before a show at the Keller Center.
I loved it...omg....very relaxing
Sat down and just listened to the water for 15 minutes, it was awesome !
Nice place to enjoy a quick lunch
Love this fountain! So big beautiful and unique! But beware, it is closed for the rest of the year for restoration. Signs say it will be open summer 2019 hopefully... Cant wait...
Ise tobe one of my favorite places when I was a kid
