So its not the best breed to pick the walkover for the scenery because its windy as heck like being on the top of the Empire State Building but its beautiful scraper night walk did you get photos of the Portland sign especially if its somebody from out of town.

What a nice night out for a walk over the Burnside Bridge. The famous Portland sign is there and also it makes it much easier to travel across the bridge to another part of town that you made or not like. As a photographer, this is a moment for me to capture a long exposure shot in the city of Portland. This is one of many famous locations in the heart of the city. Good thing about traveling across this bridge, is that it can lead you into bike path on the other side of the river where you can take a moment and look at the city from difference view. Make sure youre not alone at night and always stick together.

I have to cross this bridge every single day to get to work, and boy do you see some things. Whether it be the famous unicycler blowing his fire breathing bag pipe or a woman feeding 20 seagulls a bagel, you’re probably going to have some sort of interaction. A great point to catch a sunrise over the east side of the sunset over the west side illuminating the classic Portland sign. Only big negative (although the construction will eventually yield a better bridge) is the ongoing construction. It has made bike/walking congestion a bit complicated on both sides of the bridge.

Beautiful views. Burnside bisects the city from north and south and the Willamette east and west. I love feeling like I am in the middle of the city when crossing this bridge. Questionable dealings will occasionally happen here.

One of the many draw bridges giving Portland the nickname of Bridgetown it is a single deck middle split draw bridge (yes we a have double deck draw bridge)The bridge is like all others in Portland a one of a kind and sits approximately halfway between our two towering freeway bridges (high enough to allow ships through without disrupting traffic)With four other draw bridges also in that stretch of the Willamette river all unique. The city also has side by side draw bridges on I-5 separating Portland OR and Vancouver WA over the Columbia river.

Grew up here and have watched the area go from skid row in the 80s, 90s drugs, Y2k on still drug prob.s but not as bad. Dive bars, smut shops, alot of the weird stuff gone. Upgrading and updating nicely! Voter initiative plays a large roll. Still need homeless resolve as they diminish many businesses In a 20 block radius!

Pretty much the literal center of the city. The bridge defines the origin of the four city quadrants, and is pedestrian friendly, with very good river walkways in either side.

A signature landmark and a critical thoroughfare, the Burnside Bridge is undergoing construction work at the moment, which definitely detracts from both of the aforementioned qualities. Still, its sufficiently functional to permit traffic, and you cant miss it from either side of the river. Occasionally there will be river traffic which requires the bridge to be raised, at which point youll be sitting in a queue with a legion of other vehicles and pedestrians watching the bridge do its thing and taking bets on whether anyone is crazy enough to try a Blues Brothers-style jump. Thus far, no ones tried, which is a good thing.

There are plenty other bridges in town that are more interesting than this one. (Check out the new pedestrian bridge or the Hawthorne bridge, for example.) But, this bridge can be handy. First off, rarely do they raise it ... only when the navy fleet, for example, arrives or leaves for the Rose Parade. Secondly it is wide ... which is useful if you want to bike or walk ... and not deal with vertigo issues or other heavy non-car traffic. The rerouting theyve done on the Eastside has made entrance onto the bridge easier (and safer) in recent years. Do keep an eye out for glass if youre biking across. If youre biking over to downtown, my suggestion would be to take a lower SE street to cross over to Burnside, and then to circle back onto the bridge to make your way into the business of downtown traffic.

Burnside Bridge needs Construction. Good thing it is happening Right now. There’s some fence wall that has a crack and it’s falling apart and the Sidewalk was just about to Collapsed and the Bridge will Collapsed too. Or they might need to build a new bridge. At some point there will be a Major 9.2 Earthquake that will destroy the Bridge and nobody should be crossing. There a Video that shows the Bridge Shaking during the Earthquake. The Bridge had to be Narrow Down to 3 Lanes. One Lane going West and 2 Lanes going East.During Martin Luster King Day is to go on MLK Blvd on MLK Day in Portland to celebrate the Holiday. He was the good guy but passed away so long time.

The chef doeuvre of the Bauhaus impresario Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, the Sellwood Bridge is an art-deco masterpiece that has been one of the true gems of Portland architecture and urban design since it opened in 1925. Its graceful, soaring curves and lustrous granite arches lend a stately feel to the southern end of the city. With its wide, subtly-elevated sidewalks, it has a placid and isolated feel in which pedestrians and cyclists can truly bask. Furthermore, it offers unparalleled views of the 9,677 ft peak of Mount Saint Helens, just to the north. Two thumbs up.
