Great trails, nice playground. Deck with sunrise view (careful the bog portion gets muddy).
It was very relaxing, a lot to sight see. They need to put work on the walk ways to the bridges. Not safe. Also the water, or swamp seems to be rising. So its really close to being level with the bride. Other than that, beautiful scenery.
The playground had a unique nature theme that was super fun for the girls. The trails were well maintained. And, the bathroom was pretty good for a public park restroom!
West Lake NP is beautiful! Well marked trails with mulch ground cover make this 1.4 mile trail loop easy to trek. Not very well known, West Lake is lightly trafficked with fellow hikers and has abundant wildlife. After rains, expect the marsh to swell as well as the wetlands area near West Lake.
Amazing place to visit..bog trail was marked as closed...deffinetly needs cleaned up n repairs...
Nice nature trails. Unpaved but not too rough and there arent roots all over.
Very nice! Needs some maintenance!
Great trail with wildlife and seculded
Beautiful area for birthdays or just a fun day out with the family. The kids section has equipment that looks well maintained and safe, and the public bathrooms were astonishingly clean. There are lots of cool paths that lead to neat areas to see animals in their natural habitat. My nephew loved the turtles near the dock we found. The paths seem well used and there are guard rails on areas near water for safety. Overall a great place.
Beautiful Park. Easy walking trails.
I love the floating trails
Great place to take the kids, small park for them to play on. Trails are all very well groomed and even stroller friendly if ypu have a fairly decent stroller. Lots of wildlife and wetlands to explore and a hidden teepee in the woods. Love it!
I saw an albino squirrel. Best park.
The marsh trail is shut down but the bog walk is still open. Enjoy some wild blueberrys is finding carnivorous plants! Dont bring your dog if you wanna do the board walks. The material will burn puppy paws on a sunny day.
The great things about the woods is woods her you have it all you may be able to hear the traffic but of course you cant see it. Walking trailers, fishing, mushrooms right now and much more plus lets not forget swimming and boating . Great place in the zoo kzoo.
This place is always a relaxing and clean nature preserve to feel like Ive snuck away from civilization. :)
This was a great park! Enough to do to be fun, without being overwhelming.
A diverse, well-kept park with something for everyone. The playground is new and has a unique nature/bug theme. The hiking paths are full of wildlife and traverse several different environments (forest, prairie, Marsh, lake). Great park for families.
I really enjoy the Nature Preserve, always see at least a few deer. The trails are nice, but BEWARE of wet feet if you walk on any of the plastic docks, these need to be overhauled, and one of them has been closed for ages, which is a shame, they are a great way to see the wetlands. Very diverse plant life, realaxing walk.
Peaceful hiking location. Trails are easy, as close to flat throughout as you can imagine. It isnt unusual to see deer in early fall and early spring, if youre quiet.
One of the best places to enjoy and reconnect with nature in Kalamazoo area. Every spring I go there to take pictures of snowdrops. Its a great place to hike with your family and new playground is very nice for my toddler daughter.
Nice preserve for a walk with smaller kids. And a nice play area near the parking entrance.
Very peaceful place to walk your dogs
This is a beautiful park that nestles up to a great lake. Plus, you might see me so its even more beautiful.
Great place for nature photos
The most beautiful suburban park in all of west Michigan. The hiking trail is great, with parts of the trail floating on the Marsh. Once you get near the end, it feels like youre a million miles from nowhere. Cant say enough about the beauty of this special, magical place. My daughter would like me to add that we saw quite a few water beetles, peat moss, and water skimmers.
Nice and peaceful, good way to get out of the city
Bueatiful in summer . Spring and fall little wet.
Pretty nice lake, long lake much better for pike
Great place to run. If you start at parking lot and take the outside trail, its about a one mile lap. Some small hills, but great terrain for running.
Awesome
Nice park, water was higher so very muddy. Bring mosquito repellent!
Wonderful place to take a hike and see some wildlife in town. There is a small playground right as you pull in the park, and a nice open field to use.
A great place to get a piece of mind
Beautiful trails, fun playground.
Cute playground with excellent wooded trails. Lots of diversity within the trails in a small amount of land. Swamp, pine trees, deciduous trees...
Great for birding
Lots of deer very nice nice Lake but bring your bug spray
Had to use the restroom. I was in and out
Very nice walking trails. There are a good amount around the kalamazoo area and this is one of the better ones. Lots to see.
What an adventure and right in the middle of the city. A paved trail through a shady forest first offers views of a marshy wetland from two separate docks, but keep heading for its real jewel -- a wetlands bog featuring tamarack trees, cattails, carnivorous pitcher plants and sphagnum moss. You transverse the bog on a narrow floating boardwalk which sometimes squirts and splashes water, so wear appropriate footwear. (Kids love this part, by the way. Prepare for what happens when they jump up and down!) The boardwalk ends with an observation deck offering a breezy view of West Lake. Approach quietly and you will probably see some frogs. Download a self-guided tour brochure from the Portage Parks website to make this easy hike even more educational. At the park entrance there are restrooms, a water fountain and a playground. We love visiting here no matter the season and I always bring along a camera.
Great hiking trails and nice picnic area but the playground equipment is only for kids 5 years old and above.
Great place for walking! Beautiful views on the floating trail.
A lot of insects, but a great place to explore nature. I recommend the floating dock on the marsh, just be prepared to get a little wet. Also, check out the trails across Westnege Aveenue toward the back of the softball diamonds. One paved trail leads to the Eliason preserve trails which are a 5 star place to explore.
Nice little area
Great place to take a walk around their trails and boardwalks. Remember to bring your bug-spray!
Nice place to get away from it all, at least for a little while
This is a great place for a afternoon walk, to take pictures, and almost anything you want!
Its so beautiful here, the bog trail is a great place to be at sunset.
Really gentle wall, floating docks section great adventure
Nice place to take a quick, quite walk in the woods.
Great place for a relaxing walk.
