I go practice fishing whenever I can. Really short distance from just about anywhere in Port Washington. Multiple entrance, and when the river is low, the rocky outlines on the bank can make swimming holes. But do make sure you stick to the trail, for once you stray, you may find yourself on private property. Riddled with deer trails, so make sure you distinguish what is, and isnt a walking trail. Trout is stocked at the mouth annually. Would come again and again, for as long as possible.
Very pretty. Fall colors, stream, waterfalls. Very picturesque.
This place brings me peace. I love visiting in mid to late June for the little meadow of purple flowers near the entrance, tucked back by that little foundation. Wonderful place.
I love the tranquility of the river and the beautiful wildlife and native flowers. This for me is the best place to relax in Port Washington.
Hidden in plain sight, the Sauk Creek Nature Preserve has decent paths, a beautiful creek, and a surprising variety of birds (Blue Herons, Cardinals, Indigo Buntings...).
I was at my parents house up the road. But sauk creek is awesome
This small beautiful natural area is a favorite place of mine. Tucked in the edge of Port Washington its tiver has a waterfall, a bridge, and trail. Be careful not to step off the trail because theres poison ivy in some areas,
Wonderful experience.
Ive caught alot of different species here and I think its a really beautiful spot being in town yet. I saw alot of different little baby deer fawn getting a drink of water down here too.
1st visit! Very nice!
Although it was cold out today, it was definitely worth getting out there to check it out for the first time today. I imagine its even more beautiful during the warmer weather!
Magical.
Nice!
Such a beautiful, relaxing place. The salmon fishing was a great experience!
Beautiful place to enjoy a walk with the dog or do some fishing
Great start how can we help.
Awesome nature preserve with easy hiking trails and a small waterfall. Makes for great family hikes! Photos by John Suhar.
Beautiful nature!
Good views.
Great black raspberries! But, yes, a polluted creek indeed and in my opinion only the second best nature area in town overshadowed by the Birchwood Hills and Valley Creek.
Great place to take a walk.
Nice quiet location. Good for taking your dog for a walk.
Its beautiful in the fall especially. Love to include this place on my walks.
Great place for a stroll or fishing when the trout are running.
Lovely and quiet for a winter walk by the creek.
Great spot for salmon fishing
