I love this park! A great setting with a variety of trails, both paved and dirt. I hiked for about two hours/4.5 miles without having to circle! There’s a lovely river running through the park with a few small waterfalls and pools. There’s also a lovely lookout with a gazebo and a seating area. Such a peaceful setting and lovely getaway! I look forward to coming back. Make sure to pack some water with you!
This place is lovely. It is a nature trail with beaten paths as well as off the beaten paths! Theres so much beauty. Theres also 2 bridges that pass over a creek. My husband and I eloped and got married here. I even come back as a photographer and get some beautiful shots here. Great place and child/dog friendly
My weekly get away within the city for a hike with gorgeous views. Walk off the beaten path or on the paved one. Stroller and wheelchair approved. Most packed during early mornings and sunsets with people enjoying nature by hiking, running, walking, strolling, biking, photography, critter & bird watching. There a playground and 2 separate picnic areas. Free your mind, get out and explore. Currently under some construction and parking is limited during peak hours.
Beautiful spot for photography, video, and just clearing your mind during a long scenic walk. Love this park.
Nice trails, very well kept and maintained. Highly recommend. Keep in mind that, as its conveniently located in the middle of northern suburbs - its usually pretty crowded.
I couldnt decide whether to give Arbor Hills four or five stars. In Plano Texas I think it is a wonderful place to go. I was recently on a hiking trail in Austin which I would consider much nicer. There was a big stream and more trees. Im sure there are hiking trails in Colorado that have views of the mountains. So there are nicer places to explore nature. What I like about Arbor hills is that it is very well kept up. I didnt see trash, and the people were all following social distancing rules which is important to me during this time of Covid-19. I went late at night, and its important to bring a flashlight because there are no lights on the trails. There wasnt very much lighting in the parking lot either. I have been in the daytime as well and would recommend that instead. The pavilion seems like a nice place to have a gathering although I never have used it. Be prepared to see a little wildlife from time to time. I have seen an armadillo and the usual rabbits and squirrels. Someone reported seeing a snake last time I was there although I expect it was a harmless one. Definitely good to get away from the buildings and the man-made structures and be in nature.
Such a beautiful escape from the city. Lots of walking trails. Very crowded this Sunday tho. Wear a mask.
I really liked this place. Its good place to spend 3-4 hours outdoors - hiking or biking. Theres free entry and a large parking space. Pet friendly as well! Definitely recommend!
This is my favorite place to unwind. Very well kept. Check out the biking off road trails, hiking on the outer loop, and go up to the tower. Theres plenty of paved paths too. Ive also seen people picnic on the hillside by the tower.
This is a great place to walk in the city and still see green space. I enjoy it because not only is there a great network of paved walkways, but a large number of dirt walks and trails where you can get away from the crowds that can form on a pretty day. If you plan to off-road, Id suggest long pants, since there is poison ivy around, as well as scratchy plants and mosquitos. During this pandemic time, bring water. The fountains and retrooms are closed, as well as the playgroud, but the trails are open. it is easy to keep social distancing guidelines if you get off the concrete walks. Enjoy and stay safe!
Sorry and sweet mountain bike trail. My first ride back here in some years and the updates are really fun. As always, the parking is an issue, but the park itself is always nice to spend some time in. Mountain bike/hiking trail, waking path, playground area for kiddos. Really cant go wrong spending some time in the outdoors in this nice little oasis.
Fantastic place to hike, bike and relax. Even when the parking lot is packed the preserve has plenty of places to hike and enjoy Mother Nature.
We live very close to this Nature Preserve and love all it has to offer. People drive here from a distance because often there are no spots to park on a nice day. Parking is plentiful, dont get me wrong.People take pictures here for yearbooks and prom etc. Personally, I dont think its all that wonderful for those pictures. It would be nicer if the open areas were seeded with bluebonnets or other wildflowers for spring. But I also get that the objective is to keep it natural.
This is a wonderful 200 acre nature preserve with hiking trails, bike trails, dog walking trails, and much more. There are ponds and streams. Bathrooms, playground, and picnic tables make this a great destination for many different occasions. Great views as well, its a good choice for photography. Its a little bit of nature surrounded by houses but youd never know when youre there.

This was an awesome place to catch a breath of fresh air, we were staying in a hotel due to hurricane laura and decided to go check out some of the local wildlife and nature parks here in the plano frisco area. When we got there we didnt think it was very impressive, but oncebwe gotbon the trail we quickly realized we were wrong and that this place was absolutely beautiful, there are hidden gems are everywhere and all around you. There are miles of trails and a dedicated off road biking trail, you can bring your dogs but they must be leased and cleaned up after. The park opens at 2pm and has free entry. JUST KEEP IT CLEAN DONT LITTER ! Bring water and use the bathroom before you head outbon the trail, salut and have fun!
AMAZING OUTDOOR ADVENTURE! I have always loved walking but Im very new to hiking. This park is always well populated with people kids and dogs and so I feel safe. The creek is my favorite and there is plenty of shade, I love the sound of water and may literally make that a relaxing/reading spot. I love that there are options for paved and unpaved trails and that I can be enveloped in nature. I saw some cites squirrela and blue Dragon flies ( first for me) and theres an are that even helps you identify flowers. So cool. There are sitting areas along the trail which comea in handy. I cant wait to bring my bike over here and also do a picnic in the covered table areas!
Great park to go for a walk. Has many routes to explore if u wish to go off the main path. Wich is not to be underestimated either. The main path makes for a great walk/run. Dont know the exact length of it but there are plenty of signs showing you around. I would highly recommend this park to anyone
Excellent park to come play at or go for a walk. Public restroom and water fountain. Two playgrounds, one with a sitting area in the middle so parents can watch kids as they play. Several miles of trails make this an ideal spot for everyone.
Great trails multiple areas to go to. You will definitely see wildlife
Great escape from being on lock down at home. Plenty of parking and outdoors to explore. There are paved trails as well as marked trails to get a closer look at nature. Great place to take in the beauty that is all around us.
This place is great, especially if you can get out on a weekday when its not too crowded. The hiking trails will allow you to temporarily escape the suburbs, a perfect alternative to running on concrete sidewalks. Recent updates to the mountain bike trail make for fun challenges - within the past month or so they have added a few new drops and a balance beam.
Love this place. We always have a great time with my family. Very enjoyable!
This nature reserve is great. I have been there twice and love it... I’m a Aussie country boy and it reminds me of the Aussie bush. It’s a little bit of Heaven in the bustling city. I will continue to walk my dog through this wonderful place.
Multiple good hiking trails you can explore. Majority one s interlinked and small ones. Not so easy to find a way out if you get in inner trails. If you are first timer bit careful. Read map carefully and route yourself using it. Outer circle is straightforward with great path. People ride bicycle and skate bit careful and give a way.Lot of people come for morning and evening jog and brisk walks. I see couple of photo shoots for new born babies and birthdays babbies. There is a creek flowing in the middle. You can easily spot few good spots for photography.Parking facilities good but fills fast usually. Rest rooms are good and well maintained. Restaurants you find around nearby. Multiple spots are available for family and friends get together, especially potluck kind of party.Happy hiking,Regards,Vishwas
We absolutely loved this one. Perfect for families and individuals to take a nice walk and soak in the nature around them. Naturally beautiful and the observatory deck was a nice addition to the trails.
My favorite moments in this park is when Im lost in nature aimlessly walking in circles for hours. Day time, night time, once youre deep within the forest, the only way out is off-trail, otherwise youd walk past the same tiny broken tree-stump like 20 times without noticing, all trails are a lie, hearing sounds of people or the street is nothing but natures natural red herring .. overall very good work-out 5/5 the sun burned my face
One of my favorite places to be! Whether on the concrete path, among the trees, or sitting by the creek, Arbour Hills is relaxing and beautiful.
Lovely place for a walk. Family friendly. Dog friendly.
Extremely Busy. Its very close to a lot of people and it is a pretty area but that means it is a very busy place. Ill usually try to find someplace less crowded.
Great for the whole family, pet friendly, lots of walking trails. I enjoy watching the sun rise in the quiet of the morning.
Trail is nice but not very long and not shady. There are small trails in the foresty areas but not very long either. Fun hikes but not very serious hiking unless you keep repeating the circuit.
Very peaceful, free entry, ponds, lots of small animals and birds, I see people on hammocks, picnics, wedding photos being taken, families having a good time. Its getting busier every day, so gotta pick the right time to go there.
I really love coming here. You really feel like youre out in nature and not in a suburb of Dallas. Go early - like 7 a.m. early - to avoid large crowds. This place is always busy on the weekend, which makes parking hard to find.
Beautiful nature trails. Big pavilions with grills to cook on.
Great area for a walk. Extensive trails with space to spread out. Cool basic paved trails or some rougher terrain for a little more challenging walk. This is not a flat area and a walk or run will be a little more challenging.Glad we stopped.
One of the best parks ever. Huge problem I saw on Sunday. There was more cars than parking spots. People were having to leave because they couldnt park. On top of that, the city put giant rocks everywhere to block parking in grass. Why they dont just expand the parking lot is beyond me.
Nice walking area. Good childrens playground. The day we were there you could fry an egg on a sidewalk. My youngest grandchild was not in the best of moods. Nevertheless, the overall experience was good.
Beautiful nature preserve with plenty of trails and pathways to explore. Kids have a blast everytime we go.
First time and I loved it! The trails are really nice, but parking is bad. Get there early and enjoy your hike!
Gorgeous place to take a nice walk or run. They even have restrooms. We love this place.
Easily accessible loop paved trail (single loop of 1.2 miles) with additional unpaved trails to go off either walking or on a bike. It doesn’t feel packed even though parking is usually full. We like that it’s easy to get for a short walk on the weekends. There’s also restrooms and a playground for kids. The whole park is clean so I have to recommend it for a calm walk or even jogging, but I haven’t seen the bike trails so I can’t say much about those.
Arbor hills is one of the best park in this area. It is a very big park with nice trail and good picnic area. It is good for large group party and family activity in the weekend.
Arbor hills is now so crowded compare years ago but still the place to go if you like walk your dogs, hike or bring your kids as they have awesome playground and good place to take many pictures especially during spring with so many wild flowers.
Its always packed so if you want to be alone and with nature thin Id try Another park. Nice though.
Great nature trail for young kids to explore. The creek is nice to walk through and the paths arent too tough. Lots of shade but still plenty of breeze. They have nice pavilions to reserve and a concrete path as well.I took my trail stroller through it and it wasnt too bad.
Great Nature and Outdoors getaway in the City of Plano TX! Get a cool run or even a Brisk walk through Nature while watching the sun go down. Plano hidden gem!
Really nice bike trail, but it has been closed for the last 2 weeks, due to muddy conditions, even though we havent had rain for at least that long. Maybe phone recording was out of date, but last time I checked, trail was also closed with yellow tape
Beautiful trails, paved and unpaved, in natural setting, woods, prairie, streams. Large parking lot but can be busy weekends and weekdays after 4p.
Several trails with different distances to choose from. Very scenic. Covered picnic area. WIFI. Bathrooms. It is safe. Usually there are plenty of people on the trails.Update 11/14/2020I have walked here for several years but just the last couple of months there has been a problem with hate and harassment on the trails. A group of religious affiliated people are feeding comments in through the trees to hikers to spread gossip, insults, and name calling. They are sexual comments condoning personal moral values, feeding discrimination, implying this is my shelter (never), and making sexual crass remarks. It really has ruined my walk and it is a reflection on this area to just be puppets and repeat hate. They dont even know the source or have a way to validate comments, they just repeat them. The photographers are the worse. Anytime of day any photographer will yell out hate comments and gossip. Stalkers overhead tell them they are elite and should insult. Insulting and breeding hate is not elitism. What it is, is digression and a reflection of the caliber of the people.
Beautiful park and trails close to the DFW metroplex. Most of the trails and paths we used were very shaded
I like this place as you feel a lot closer to nature. It is peaceful. The trails are also nice.
One of my favorite place to visit. I go there almost every day for a walk and love it. Nice atmosphere plus surroundings.. beautiful open and outer trail
Nice trail, a little crowded, but nice over all
Love these trails! Been coming here for over 15 years now! You can choose to only stick to concrete trails or take one of the dirt paths into the trees.
What a wonderful place to hike with friends and family! Vast space with plenty of picnic areas and all types of hiking opportunities - from easy paved roads to more difficult natural hikes. There was even a waterfall, and a lookout Tower you could climb up to! My kids LOVED it!!
One of my favorite places to hike or walk. It has everything from fossils, geodes, beautiful trees, VERY WELL MAINTAINED TRAILS and a whole lot more. Seriously, if you visit Arbor Hills, treat if with respect. This is a very special place in this region, even geologically - as it features a unique rock formation often called a Thunder Egg. Just beautiful.
So calm and beautiful, but be sure not to go there after dawn its creepy as hell
Beautiful place. Great playground. Expect crowds on nice days.
Great escape from being on lock down at home. Plenty of parking and outdoors to explore. There are paved trails as well as marked trails to get a closer look at nature. Great place to take in the beauty that is all around us.
This is a great place to take your family to! My hubby and I took our 11 month old puppy, Hercules, and he had such a great time. Perfect place to practice a puppys training.
Great place to hike, bike, play and have fun in nature! Excellent trails that are clearly marked, beautiful views, places to picnic, and the playground is fun too. I always see photographers out there snapping portraits because there are so many beautiful background options.
Parts are closed for maintenance, but plenty of trails left. Nice place to get some exercise for your 4 legged friend also
Nice place for hike or walk. Trails along stream, on hill, and through prairie — dirt paths and wise concrete paths. I have never done the mountain bike trails.
It was very nice trails in Plano. Was amazed by fireflies in the dark. Good bike and walk trails. Have couple of cabana for good sized parties of about 100 people you can rent. Restrooms were no good so had reduce a star.
This place is amazing an out door gem for the DFW no better out door trails in the metroplex
This place is amazing, the passion flowers showed me that 2 souls as one can create something beautiful and magical in this world.
Beautiful place. Easy parking, plenty of picnic tables, restrooms, and water fountain. Great place to hike, bike, exercise, or just take the kids for a walk to enjoy the beautiful scenery.
A real gem in the middle of city. A beautiful place for morning run with lot of greenery and up and downhills. Evenings are equally beautiful with lot of photogenic spots.
This is a beautiful place that has paved walking trails and well maintained dirt trails. Has a bathroom and water fountain at the main entrance. Also, has a playground that my son loved. Most of the walk on the main trail is shaded which is wonderful in the hotter months. Bring water, bug spray, sunblock and a snack! Be sure to check out the lookout area.
This park is amazin I like the nature trails and the tower you can see pretty far it is really a nice place to take yur kids
Walking all the trails on a nice breezy day was fantastic.
Nice peaceful area, but Sunday it was super crowded and it seemed like a very popular photography spot where a ton of photographers use it like they all for some reason go theyre as if they have some kind of herd mentality to use that area.Nice wooded areas, though and hills.
Be prepared, extremely busy all the time. Ive been a couple of times now walking with my girlfriend, saw plenty of longboards, both electric and non so I figured Id give it a try. When I got there some very rude lady at the front told me I could not longboard here. Interesting how the majority of parks will allow bikes but not decks... Disappointed
Great paved walking areas and some good off road easy trails.
First time going here and I loved it! There are nice optional snake vs no snake paths
Did exploratory visit to check it out. Nice to see some greenery and walking tracks here with some water and kids will trurn with mountain bikes.
Arbor hills is one of my favorite parks, it’s clean it’s large and it’s great for mini hiking trips in the big city. I highly recommend it!
Everyones favorite place to take photos, has a lot of trash and construction going on but quite beautiful
Great park. But its closed temporarily? Wish I had known....20 minute drive for nooooothing.
The preserve is a great place in town to go get a little nature. With the pandemic I have noticed it has gotten very busy, and very crowded. Finding parking was difficult, and the construction has made it difficult to get out of the upper peaking area.
Thid place is huge, there were so many trails! This was my first time doing a nature walk and I have to say I absolutely loved it and will definitely be going back. So much to see I was there for two hours and still couldnt finish. Everyone had their dogs with them today. It was awesome absolutely loved it!
Arbor Hills features clear paths for walking and running, off path options, and accessible restrooms. It is pet and kid friendly, and most patrons are welcoming and genial.
A neat way to feel part of mature without leaving the city. There are paved concrete trails and dirt trails. Whatever you prefer they have. Lastly, they have a beautiful lookout point!
Nice nature preserve. Great for walking on a trail.
Amazing place for walking, biking, photography. Awesome trails. You can easily spend lot of time there especially during this Covid time when need to be away from crowd.
Best advice I can give is, get off the concrete and go exploring. So many great paths through the woods. The outer loop and the tressle loop were not busy and worth the time. My plan was to turn down any random trail I saw. It was the best way to enjoy the park.
Nice little hiking trail. You forget your in the city. My girls loved it. Lots of foot traffic though, so be advised. Overall, will be back :)
Beautiful natural surprises on hiking and biking trails. Wooded trails and fields full.of wildlife and flowers.
Once upon a time this was an awesome place to visit anytime of day, any day of the week. Its now impossible to get back to nature there now, unless you show up at 5am. It has become overused.Again a great place if you visit early, not so much if you dont.
Great park great trails
These forrested hills are a gem of Plano. Ive lived here since 2008 and never even knew it existed. Great hiking and biking trails and an impressive playground for the kiddos. I highly recommend a visit.
Great place with lots of walking trails (both concrete and grass/dirt)
I’m new to Texas. Went today to this location and loved it. Got a little bit anxious when I saw the posts about snakes, ivy and animals. It doesn’t feel like a 100% wild location because it’s in the middle of Plano.I’m planning to keep going back, especially during spring to see all the trees and plants blooming.
Been around this trail hundreds of times for the last 7-8 years. Seen all types of wildlife. Huge snakes, rabbits, spiders, scorpions, turtles and more. If youre walking through the streams, you might come across some pretty big snakes. Be observant of where youre walking! Other than some real wildlife in Plano its a great place to go to and forget about the hustle and bustle of the city. Dog owners would be my only complaint, pick up after your pets. Its not hard..... when they provide doggy bags all around the concrete trail.
I come here to hike and bike frequently. There’s also a ton of gyms and pokestops for Pokémon Go if you’re into that sort of thing
Omg! Stunning! My family luvs this nature reserve! We hike it, laugh & joke, do our yoga & have a picnic! Were scared of critters but are quickly getting over it! Go & enjoy! You wont regret it!
One of Texas best city-managed parks. Great for exercise and taking in the views of what North Texas grassland prairies were like before Dallas northward expansion. Youll see just about every plant and wildflower native to the area.Very dog, family and disability friendly, with a nice playground and a long wheelchair ramp (not steep) leading to the paved main trails. And well maintained restrooms. This park was designed for use by anybody who wants to enjoy a nice day in the great outdoors. Youll experience the diversity of Planos population here perhaps more than anywhere else I can think of.Bring a bottle of cold water. Theres not much protection from the sun.
