This is a great place to get out and stretch your legs, go for a walk, and enjoy a leisurely stroll. Its a large space in comparison to some other local places and features a large paved trail and bridges. Ive been there three times and its not crowded with people like Arbor Hills can sometimes be.The only reason I didnt give it a five star is the lack of scenery on the one side of the park. There is vast open space that looks half done.
This is a really special place to me that I frequent. Really love that such a beautiful place with fabulous trails can be found so close to the city. The hikes here are easy as theres not much elevation change. Dont stick to the pavement! The dirt paths that snake their way around the river and through the woods are the best way to see this beautiful area.
Awesome park and even though that copperhead almost got me, I would risk being bitten to go wandering through the woods again! You can stay on the paved trails here (boring) or you can go off into the wooded areas on the dirt trails to meet some native wildlife (signs are posted so that you know what to look out for). There are also some large open plains type areas that you can walk around in to stay off the paved trails as well.Especially with COVID at the moment, this is a nice place to go where you can get away from it all and if done right, you can stay away from people as well.
I had a great time hiking in Oak Point park with a friend. We often come to the park to enjoy nature and get some exercise. There are lots of nature trails. There is the Go Ape attraction. They have ampitheaters, sites for parties, plenty of parking. The place is huge.
We had so much fun!! I loved it. Just didnt like one employee the who was not helpful at all, and always in his phone. Would be nice if he explained is the technic with at least some care, but not like a robot, and continued play in his phone while we were figured out what to do.
Very nice large park! Great pathways for bicycling and walking. Trails for hikes well marked. Blessed with a beautiful fall day.
This is the best regional park Ive been to in the DFW area. It was great!Biking trails, walking trails, on payment and in the woods, all very well kept. And,There is a ropes course and zip line.
A nice little surprise. So many intricate parts to see. Enjoyed the walking path today. It provided a perfect intersection between urban reality and mother nature. Next time will hit the internal trails. They looked pretty inviting, but definitely require more than simple workout clothes if I dont want to be eaten alive by each and every bug during my hike. LOL
Great place with many paved and non-paved trails, some picnic tables here and there, and bathrooms. All you need. Awesome to go for a few hours and walk around, lots to see. There is even zip lining if you want to buy that experience highly recommended for fun with the kids!
Its a beautiful place!! A great place to walk around Lake also they have some trails. Sunset view is lovely! A must visit place!!
Beautiful park! Grew up in this area my entire life and Im still finding new views around this park.
In the midst of DFW it is so nice to have this trail! It does get muddy easily so you might want water resistant hiking shoes after it rains.
Calm and peaceful. Plenty of variety and tons of paths to follow. Watch out for the poison ivy! Great for photography sessions.
There are benches, even picnic tables. Not sure why one reviewer said there isnt but I promise there are lots of them!!! Theres even trash cans, recycling cans and public bathrooms. This is my absolute favorite place to go for a jog, walk, hike. I have taken so many incredible pictures and absolutely love being here.
Nice, easy trails to walk around. It looks like if it rains it probably gets pretty muddy. It was very pleasant and Id definitely go back.
REALLY like this place a lot. Id been looking for a place other than Arbor Hills to go and hike at and this place has just enough unpaved and paved trails to cover some decent ground on a bicycle or on foot. The creek is nicer around this part of town too compared to other preserves that also connect with Rowlett Creek. Trails are lined with wooden boardwalks in spots where it could get muddy or potentially hard to cross with high water. Lots and lots of shade which is a must on a hot Texas summer day. Watch out for snakes, ran into a copperhead on a dirt trail by an overlook. Other than that its the perfect spot to explore if you want to spend a long afternoon in nature ️
Amazing place with even more amazing views. I personally went on the zipline one and it was really fun. They also are a reserve and you can walk on trails or ride your bike.
Nice rec center lots of wide jogging trails. Awesome little pond. Great scenery for photos
Super beautiful public park! Lots of trees and shade! Absolutely worth driving to if youre not in Plano.
My daughter and son-in-law got married at the park on August 28, 2020. The event and the nature park was amazing!!
Its amazing that being in the city you can feel like youre in some remote place. Its very peaceful and quiet on the trails. Great place to escape and clear your head!
This was beautiful!! The walking circle is hidden behind buildings and I thought i was transported to another place. The rock steps are beautiful also
Great place to take a walk and ride your bike, with youe family and friends too.
I love the walk and the set up of the park. It is a very peaceful walk around the water with trees surrounding it. I love that they kept many of the natural plants at the park. Making the park earth friendly. This would be a great place to take your children to go on a bike ride and/or look at birds and fish. They have public restrooms and free parking.
Oak Point Park and Nature Preserve is an 800-acre park in Plano, TX and is the largest park in the city. The park has 3.5 miles of concrete trails and 5 miles of soft trails, many of which are located along Rowlett Creek. In the southeastern region of the park, there is an equestrian area where visitors can ride horses. There are 26 trails. The North Trail connects to the Six Cities Trail in Allen, which connects to the Bluebonnet Trail.Timber Chase Trail is a 0.88-mile trail which borders the main lake in the center of the park. Wildlife includes bobcats, coyotes, snakes, rabbits, turtles, and fish. Visitors can take the paved multi-use trail to the neighboring Bob Woodruff Park to see the oldest tree in Plano, a 200-year-old Bur Oak.Go Ape: It is 2-3 hour unique outdoor experience through the forest with many fascinating activities such as zip lines, Tarzan swings, and suspended obstacles like rail tracks.
Was really cool heres some pictures
Beautiful trees and creek, the hike/bike trails are awesome. Oak Point is one of the reasons Plano is a great place to live!
Love the trails and the lake view. Really nice length trails views.
Really great park. Took part in the Go Ape adventure zip lining experience and had a blast. I wish other parks had these kind of courses.
Good location to go walking with the grand kids. You can stay on the paved path or get out in the field or woods, depending on your preference since there are plenty of trails. There is a stream to explore a little and also play ground so enjoy the sites..
Great place to relax, exercise or run / walk. I take my kayak and fish the good size pond
Oak Point Park and Nature Preserve is a beautiful and serene nature destination to visit and enjoy.
Nice place to take a hike on the nature trail for the entire family. Kids liked it. Lots of people come here to hike. Parking lot got pretty full.
Wonderful scenic trails, good place to go especially in this season, good weather makes it even more better, kept nice and clean at all times, nature beauty clean air, everything in 1 place, we always take entire family. We go almost every day, to get good exercise especially in this social distancing, nice way to stay healthy body and mind, fresh air, nice weather, good views.
The park is outstanding biking and walking. Very nature based. Plus it has the very cool Go Ape zipline and rope climb facility.
Its a really nice park to walk. I never made or attended any reserved events, but I know its a possibility to do so. Perfect for bike riding - even with the speed limit
Apart from the paved trail around the lake and a couple another that has a lovely long boardwalk through a wooded area, there are a couple or more unpaved ones through the woods that offer good hiking experiences -- nothing too physically challenging -- with relative seclusion.
Its a very nice & peaceful place to visit. Calm & quite environment. I am sure you can enjoy.
This outdoors area has many options- a paved sidewalk like walking trail, an offpath earthy nature trail, beautiful pond, benches to take a break, dog friendly, covered pavillion with tables and grand fireplace, an Event Center where a wedding was taking place, and Rec Center at the other end of the trail, very neat and clean
Not bad! My first time and it was awesome!
Nice urban park. Lots of paved trails. Walking an out and back, it would be easy to create a 7 or 8 mile walk. The few dirt paths I encountered were too muddy from recent rain to investigate.
This is an amazing park with both natural and paved trails. Great tree cover in areas close to the parking.
This place is huge, beautiful and very peaceful. There is a hidden creek through the trails that make this park even more special. Definitely a long walk and make sure to take some water for yourself and pup!
This is a super walking spot. Great scenic views as well and the breeze here is always just so nice
Have visited here often for a walk. This place is amazing. So quite so beautiful and so serene.
Very good trails, you can either go on a bike or get a stroller for your little ones on the paved ones, you can also choose to walk on rowlett creek or caddo trails for more into the trees . Today Nov 8th board walk was pretty with fall changing colors. You can just elax on rock steps next to the pond with a book.they also have zip lining.
Pretty large and diverse preserve. The Obstacle course and Zip-line is cool looking too.
I loved this park. Nice long trails and very few people. Loved the lake, and open spaces as well as wooded area.. great place to spend the evenings.
Lots of trails, lots of greenery, the trails are big enough for pedestrians and cyclists.
Miles upon miles of hiking, biking, running, and walking trails. Fishing and zip lines. It was a great little break from the typical city park.
It is open from upgrades this past spring! Nice trails and lake access. Always a fun nature walk.
Paved trail a bit too many bicyclists but the nature trail were more secluded. Spent around 2 hours walking what seem less then 1/3 of the park. The paved trails were clean but the natural trails seemed a bit trashed.
This is our new hiking place. We have enjoyed the two times we have gone so far and will be frequenting this place in the future.
Nice peaceful trail..i went here for zip lining its an obstacle not really my thing...i wanted just to zip line..
Great asset in East Plano. We spend a lot of time biking on the trails and always enjoy our selves.
Pretty nice. All the coolest stuff is off trail though, just sayin.
First time here and a great walk for dogs around the pond. Bring bags for waste and a water bowl and water. They enjoyed sniffing through the grassy areas. There are soft trails that look fun but do carry a warning!! Plenty of parking.
Great place! Very much over fished though, also just about every evening there is a guy in a kayak that paddles the shoreline so Goodluck on him not screwing up your fishing.Other than that great facilities and lots of cool trails to hike/walk.
Nice trails and it isnt overly crowded like Arbor Hills nature preserve.
Beautiful place. Lots of greenery. Great place for 4th of July celebration and fireworks.
Nice place to walk around the lake or walk some trails near the large creek.
Perfect place to walk, hike, bike and unwind.
Needs some work here and there, “cosmetic touches” let us say it this way but overall it’s beautiful!!!
My favorite park in the area !! More than 140 acres With lots of trails !! And a beautiful lake !!
We love biking and hiking at this park! Beautiful, wish all parks were like this one!
There are a few amazing trails that are very wooded/shaded. Good picnic area too.
Very beautiful place with long walking and trailing paths. Ample seating space around the lake. The environment is very tranquil, you can just get lost in it. There is ample parking space.
Great place to get outdoors. Lots of tree cover to protect you from the Texas heat. There are multiple trails to walk.
Nice shady place (off the paved trails) for a walk. Good signage and reasonably clean.
Lovely trails! These trails are not stroller friendly and there are some steep drop offs so be careful with little ones! There are areas you can get down to the river and the kids enjoyed swimming and playing in it. There was tons of poison ivy so just be familiar with it and keep away from it. Watch for snakes among other typical Texan wildlife!
This place is GREAT! Its all natural walking trail wrapped arounded a huge body of water and sometimes you can spots fishes, frogs or birds. Its Dog,Kid Stroller, Picnic spot,Cyclist, Fishing, friendly. Its near the Go Apes ziplining site and it has public restroom also!
Lots of shade. Scenic hiking trails (both paved and unpaved).
Absolutely loved the Rowlett Creek Trail. A friend and I walked it this afternoon. It was a good variation, and the scenery was pretty great even for winter. Weve decided were absolutely going again.
Such a cool park. You can walk, jog, bicycle, find a spot to sit and relax, birdwatch, read, sunbathe, picnic. It has trails too. A good size parking lot. Favorite park in the area.
Amazing place. Dense forest with very well shaded trails and a creek running through it. We went in the afternoon to just check it out and maybe go later but we ended up spending 4 hours hiking. Very well shaded by the trees and doesnt feel hot. Will go again and again...
Its a big park with open air and plenty of room. The concrete sidewalks are big enough to keep social distance. The trails, facilities, and pond, are nice, and the nature is beautiful. Great place
Very nice trail to walk. Pretty and paved.
Such a beautiful place
Went kayaking on the lake, lots of fun! $10 for 1 hour and it’s ample to kayak around the entire lake. Staff was super friendly, and helpful. If you haven’t been before, you will be wet. The best way for me to describe it is you’re sitting in a puddle of water. Sunscreen, sunglasses are recommended. Hats are good be carful of the wind.
Super pretty and the parking lot has so many spots to offer. The park is also well maintained.
Really love this park. Ive had a lot of prayerful and contemplative walks here, and also done a few 5Ks. This place means a lot to me.
Favorite park in all of Collin County.
Nice quite area to relax and do a little walking.
No benches, I assume because this area floods seasonally. At least thats what it looks like. There is also not a lot of shade in much of the park. Its beautiful, just not what Im looking for.
Not quite opem for the spring. Opening for the weekend of May 30th. They will have fishing (bring your license) and kayaking on the pond. The activity rooms are spacious. Looking forward to returning when more activities are available. They offer a number of outdoors related courses as well.
We loved it. Went for some hike with friends on a pleasant Saturday morning. We really liked the mud roads, even the cement path was quite fun for cycling and stuff.
Large park with a pond, forest and fields. The concrete path is wide enough for pedestrians, cyclists and other recreational vehicles. We saw amadrillos, squirrels, different birds and snakes there.
Best natural park like park around. There are bathrooms, lakes, and a very very nice walkway into and around the forest. On a typical day, theres a tour going on, sketchy teenagers in the forest, and families waiting to zip line! I absolutely love this park, loads of parking spaces in both the front and back of park as-well. Amaaazing park to visit with your family!
Very well cleaned and maintained, trails are great for waking.
Great park! Had a great time here.
Great place to hang out, walk, run, cycle or skate. They keep the trails very well maintained.
Beautiful trails and well-maintained preserve! Not too busy either. My pup and I had a great time wandering through the woods.
This is one of my favorite places to come run. A myriad of paved, dirt and grass trail options within the park and many connections which allow you to get out and explore Plano.
Oh my goodness this place is awesome!! I went yesterday to walk the trails and it was amazing. They have 8 miles of concrete trail and 5 miles of dirt trails. We were wanting more dirt trails so we took the Rowlett trail (I think thats what its called.) Im from Colorado and it actually felt like I was in Colorado for a minute. The creek is beautiful too. I also noticed they have a tree top thing where they hook you up and there is all these different obstacles to get from tree top to tree top. It looked like a wonderful way to challenge your body and do something you havent done before. I HIGHLY recommend this place!!
Great outdoor place for walking, fishing, biking, kayaking! The trails were closed for a long while. Hope they will be reopened soon
Beautiful park, but a lot of bugs at night.
One of the best trail/parks in Plano
Awesome experience! Will definitely be back!
