I had such a good time on this paddle boat. Everyone was very helpful and knowledgeable. It made me feel like they wanted my bushiness. The camera man was very nice too. He takes good pics. The man who sells the tickets was very nice and enjoyable and the guy who take the ticket and your temperature is wonderful too. It was the best attraction and best thing Pittsburgh has going for it. Loved it.
It was a very nice experience as far as the boat goes. The Captains Dinner was the package that we purchased. The sights and staff especially the bartender was very nice. Our party had a few issues with food service however. One of the ladies with us ordered the vegetarian meal, which was supposed to be a pasta dish. She was the only one on the ship who ordered it. Side salads were waiting for us at the table with desserts upon our arrival. It was brought to her after we all went to the buffet and finished eating. That they could only offer her another salad and did not have an order for pasta. If you are not eating and are only going for sightseeing and the boating experience you will not be disappointed. The DJ was excellent as well. If you plan on dining and need special accommodations you might want to do the extra leg work of confirming your order the day before.
Booked a sightseeing tour, it was a nice quick adventure that I was glad we had the opportunity to do. They had food and beverages reasonably priced for riverboats. If you only are here for a weekend, I would recommend you do this tour, and sit on the right side of the boat if you are inside, narrator was loud and clear spoken so you could hear the sights well when passing.
Love, love! I have a special needs son and the boat crew is always so welcoming and adaptable to allowing us to position him on the deck, as appropriate, so that he can enjoy the outdoor experience rather than just being restricted to staying inside and just seeing what he can from the upper part of the windows. We try to go several times a year!
The cruise itself was great for seeing the city from the river and taking photos. You cant do half points or I would have bumped it up a little more. I was disappointed in the food. The beef was full of gristle in every bite. I finally gave up and got another piece that didnt have gristle but it was very chewy. Chicken was bland. Im not much of a rice lover but the rice pilaf was great. Green beans were good with the bacon and tomato cooked with it. Chocolate lava cake was awesome but you arent allowed seconds on that. Server wasnt very friendly only checked on us about two times. We had to remove our own dirty plates at one point to make room for more. In talking with others who have taken the cruise we all agree that the cruise itself is great but the food was not that great for being a cruise dinner.
Thus was so awesome i hadnt done this in ages .I really enjoyed it. It was entertaining especially with the covid nowadays, nice to be able to do something other than cruise around or walk the local mall or Walmart.
This place has been around since childhood. Dad and I rode the boat to Pirates games. We did the Good Ship Lollipop. And recently, I brought my folks here for the Friday dinner cruise. My parents and I really were blown away by the quality of the food and professionalism from staff. The food was great-pork loin was perfect and chicken was done perfectly. Nice selection of vegetables and dessert as well. The set up of the night was nice how the cruise boarded early and you could eat first and then once mostly finished with dinner, we casted off. This gave a nice chance for people to enjoy dinner and then step out onto the decks and take in the beautiful views of the city and landscape. The DJ was great who provided music and the captain talked briefly and pointed out landmarks and history. Everything was choreographed perfectly and we will always recommend and return.
Took a very hot girl on the cruise tonight, so I paid no attention to the narrator whatsoever, but Im sure it was great. Perfect date idea.
Took sight seeing cruise a week ago with family. Staff very courteous and friendly. Took your temp before getting on, and everyone had masks on. Felt very safe, plenty of room for social distancing. Learned a lot from narrated tour even though I have lived in Pittsburgh all my life!!
Long story short, this place was fun! Still, like most places it has its flaws. Firstly, the food was not very good, I attended for a German Cruise event. For the food, the sausages were too greasy, while the other item, pork, tasted weird. The only okay dishes were sadly a salad you custom build, and the potato made dishes. On the bright side, we were offered German dancing, which was interesting to watch. Although because of this entertainment, after about 1 hour of riding the boat, the food vanished. It was gone. Although. Their amazing deck was the life of the party, I was able to have fun with friends there in the best environment present. Overall, this was an okay cruise yet if you want the unique Pittsburgh experience, the Ducky Tours is the way to go. I recommend this location if you are visiting it only once. Have a lovely day!
The water tour around the city was so much fun!! Would highly recommend for anyone coming up to visit this beautiful city!!
This was amazing and reaxing. You learn a lot about Pittsburgh and you can enjoy drinks and snacks from the bar.
This was a great cruise.. The pgh history was very informative and narrated by a wonderful guide. My daughter and I loved the cruise. Also.. They had things set up for social distancing and the bathroom facilities were very clean. Would highly recommend
Beautiful sights and city. Riding up and down the 3rivers awesome.
Had a great time seeing the city from the water. The guided tour gives such insight into the history of Pittsburgh and the buildings origins. Very interesting. Would highly recommend when visiting Pittsburgh.
Fun ride with beautiful views of the historical buildings, stadium, and the Point! The tour guide had a lot of information and interesting facts about Pgh! More seats are needed outside and please sell popcorn so that my grandson will be happy too !
The workers all are so nice here! Everything is very organized and the view on the boat is so amazing. It’s so much fun being able to see the city on a boat. It’s a very family friendly experience and is fun to do with friends too. I hope to be able to come back some day! I would recommend coming here to all.
I love the Gateway Clipper and frequently take voyages. Currently, I must only give a 4 start review because of the lack of enforcement of social distancing, and use of masks (both staff and guests) once on board. They did do a great job of taking temps before boarding and even providing masks for a few who came without from what I witnessed. Unfortunately, once on board there was noenforcement.
The Gateway Clipper ride was great. The boat doesnt really rock at all. You get some amazing views of downtown Pittsburgh and up close views of a number of bridges. The amenities on board are first class and the waitstaff and bartenders are helpful. My one complaint is that Station Square parking is extortionary. Parking for 3 hours cost $6.
We took an evening cruise that included dinner. I wasnt sure what to expect but I suppose if you are taking the cruise, arrive early as most people were already seated and eating from the buffet when we boarded. The line up was quite long for food so if a buffet is not your thing, avoid the dinner cruise We grabbed a drink and took our time.Food was standard comfort food, mac n cheese, chicken, pork, mashed potatoes, veg and salads. Nothing special or memorable to be honest. Staff was friendly and the info provided as we cruised was very helpful so we could go and check out some of the locations on land. We picked a spot on the second deck (dining room and close to the bar ;) as the open and upper deck was quite full. The lower deck which opened up you the second deck had a dj and dancing happening. We preferred to be outside checking out the sites in the river. You will learn about the different rivers and how they merged to become the Ohio River. Youll also learn about the changes in commerce and industry in Pittsburgh and the citys revitalization in recent years. Youll see PNC Park and Heinz Field from a different perspective and the endless bridges and other points of interest! I highly recommend the cruise! Next time Id skip dinner ;)
Love the experience. Fun trip on the Gateway Flipper Fleet! Fun time!
One of the best nights out! Great food, entertainment, and service. Took my sweetheart for his birthday. If you haven’t gone on one of these dinner cruises you should definitely try it!
This is a great place to come and see the city from the river. Good facts spoken from the crew, nice service. And Mike Graham is the best.
Love love love this boat I have been on about 4 or 5 times and each time is different and I notice different things during the ride. We went on the moonlight Easter dinner cruise the dinner was good, nice music and DJ, the staff was friendly and the city is breath taking! See you soon Gateway Clipper
What a fun day. The staff were great. Aaron was a fun tour guide and taught us lots of fun facts about the city. We really enjoyed our time on the Queen.
Had to leave a good review cause it looks fun so will put this on my future list but when we were here they were all booked....:/
Great river tours. We got to see Pittsburgh by water. There was a special discount for veterans on the Independence Day weekend.4 adults and 3 kids for $36.00.Thanks. The whole experience was great.
I was on the 1 hour Three Rivers Sightseeing Cruise. Seeing the city from the water is a great experience. The narration that goes along with it is very informative. I learn something new every time.
Not worth the money, bit of a dull experience. They did a great job with the presentation just nothing overly exciting. Definitely wouldnt recommend, not even once.
Its a fantastic way to see Pittsburgh at night. The ghost tales were fun and added to the cruise.
Always a good go to when guests visit. Learn a few fun facts and see the city from a unique view.
Great views of the city and learned some interesting facts that even though I live nearby I didnt know. And was able to see buildings you dont normally see driving through the city!!
My daughter wanted to go for her 23rd birthday! We all enjoyed ourselves!
Makes you proud of the city. The announcer was very knowledgeable.
A night well never forget! Pleasant staff, excellent food, lovely views! I cant wait to go again!
Met with the wedding coordinator and DJ today to finalize wedding plans. Both the coordinator, Dan, and the DJ of First Entertainment were helpful with the timeline and all of the details of our day. We were excited to meet with them to finalize plans and cant wait for the big day on the boat!
Great especially the narrator. Learned a few facts about Pittsburgh I didnt know.
Food was delicious.. Staff was very pleasant.. Amazing boat ride.
Fun water tour of the city. Our trip was planned through Girl scouts so not sure about the process of buying tickets etc. Staff was friendly. They took pictures as we boarded and were available to purchase when we returned. We had a beautiful day on the river. So many sites to see. We stayed on the top deck most of the time and only sat in the cabin area to eat and cool off in the a/c. Will definitely do again with the entire family.
Great way to spend an afternoon in Pittsburgh! Friendly staff and tour guide was very knowledgeable.
We did the captains cruise for Fathers Day. It was an awesome time. My dad absolutely loved it. Its long enough 2 enjoy yourself and relax. But not so long that youre itching to get off of the boat. The food was great the staff was really good. A decent alcohol selection .. and the captain was extremely knowledgeable about certain buildings and historical facts that you were passing when you were cruising up the rivers. There was some new facts about my city that I never heard before. Its definitely something as a family we would do again.
Food was very good, would highly recommend this place.Service is outstanding, Farhad our food attendant sas very attentive, he is a five star server.Sangria Sunday was the best!
The views are stunning on the cruises. We did the Captains Dinner Cruise and everything was fantastic.
Absolutely beautiful! Great staff. Cant wait to do another trip!
Great way to connect with family and friends, we had a mini family reunion. The food wasnt great quality, we had the chicken and ribs; and the ribs were underdone. For the price, the food needs to be better. It rained most of the night and we still had a lot of fun, the music was good and the customer service was good. Hopefully they get the food thing figured out.
Loved the brief history lesson. Awesome views great tour and tour guide!
THIS is the way to see Pittsburgh. Fun ride, informative guide and Ive been here dozens of times and still learned a lot. There is a bar and snacks, but it was such a beautiful day we just couldnt bear to go inside. Reasonably priced, fun, informative, with a view you wont be able to see anywhere else so pretty much it cant be beat!
What a wonderful experience
When down for the Steelers game we always park at Station Square and take the Clipper Shuttle to the Stadium. The price is great and the atmosphere is amazing. They operate a bar on the larger boats so that you can get a drink. Most boats have inside seating as well as topside seating and standing room. The scenery on the ride is worth the price of the ticket!
Very friendly staff and a great experience if youd like some quick history bundled with an hour long river cruise.
Havent been on GC since 95 or 96 (I was 5 or 6). I had a fun time. Bf and I rode the Why Pittsborough became Pittsburgh cruise.
It was a great way to spend my day off and time with my sister
Great way to spend a night in Pittsburgh. Bring a coat, it gets cold in the evening on the water.
We celebrated our anniversary and it was a great night. Went last year and loved it too
If you are touring Pittsburgh city, this is a most, customer services is great and very informative, we learned so much about the city and its history. We had such a great time. Definitely recomended!!!
It was a beautiful view of the city, friendly staff, always willing to help.
Absolutely great enjoyed the sightseeing cruise. It was relaxing and for people not from Pittsburgh had a lot of excellent information
What a great ride a little bit of history also.
Gateway Clipper Fleet offers a variety of cruises but I am writing this review from my experience with their Moonlight Dance cruise. The boat was OKish, nothing fancy - the interiors and the decor was kinda old and the lighting was dingy. The food on the cruise wasnt too great and the music played was mostly Hip-hop & Rap.Recently went on the Gateway Moonlight Dance Cruise with a group of friends when visiting Pittsburgh. Its a 2-2.5 hour cruise on the three rivers showcasing the views of Pittsburgh. We were all excited about the cruise but were pretty disappointed by the end of it. The major reason being the music played - the DJ mostly played Hip Hop and Rap. We wished he played pop or other genres for sometime to please everyone but he stuck to Hip-Hop/Rap and not everyone can dance on them. The cruise also includes a small buffet with a couple of vegetarian options like Nachos. I wish they had few more options on the menu and I didnt see people having the food much either. They also have a bar counter on the cruise where you can order some drinks, the price was decent.Overall given the price, the cruise might be worth it if can you can listen & dance to Hip-Hop & Rap for 2-2.5 hours. Otherwise wouldnt suggest going on the cruise.
Thats the way to go for a bucco game amazing view when you come around the point of heinz field the city and pnc park I definitely recommend that you try it and do a night game see the city by day and after the game by night love my city woooooo
The staff were VERY friendly and knowledgeable. The prices for the on board drinks and snacks were reasonable, which was a welcomed surprise. Pics are from the beautiful views of the Pittsburgh skyline and bridges that the cruise takes you past. Definitely recommend this!
Did this at 8:30 pm and witnessed the beautiful golden sunset and city view with lights. It’s amazing.
Good dinner nice relaxing time but wish people would have kept their masks on when walking around. I think they should have announced that
Fun for locals and tourists alike! We went on a strange and weird Pittsburgh facts cruise and learned a lot! Suitable for all ages!
My husband took me on a dinner cruise for my 40th birthday. We had a really nice time. The band that was playing could really sing too.
We love the Gateway Clipper. Its a family tradition for traveling to baseball games. Always friendly staff. I would give it five stars but the boats seem to be just a bit run down- maybe some new carpet or fresh paint.
The greatest way to avoid the traffic of downtown to go to and from the Pirates game! It was a good evening despite the rain delay we stayed till the end! We were so glad that we took the Gateway Clipper and didnt have that traffic to contend with. We will do many more games that way!!! And what a spectacular view of the city at night!
We planned our first outing on the Gateway Clipper fleet to celebrate my birthday. The meal served was a brunch & was delicious! So many choices, both breakfast and lunch & all terrific. The views were fantastic, weather beautiful, & music and atmosphere was delightful. Loved every minute of our 1 1/2 hour cruise!
I took the Clipper shuttle from the Pirates game for the first time, and loved it. Its such a great way to get from the Northside to Station Square. This was way better than walking in the heat across the bridge, or trying to find an Uber or Lyft in the sea of vehicles around the stadium. Though this was a smaller, one-level boat, it fit quite a few people comfortably, and could have fit quite a few more. Im glad the GCF is still around and putting all our waterways to great use.
It was a informative relaxing hour long boat ride. Me and my family ride every time we are in pa
It’s been something fun to do every since we were kids going on field trips!
A full 2 hour lunch excursion that the whole family can appreciate on the 3 Rivers Queen. The luncheon buffet was beyond delicious (fine restaurant quality). Recommend arriving early, eating lunch by 11:30, and scoring chairs at the bow for best view and breeze as the boat leaves the dock at 12 noon.
It was nice, theyre not really enforcing the masks or social distancing so if you have issues with that stay home.
The best thing in Pittsburgh.
I took my daughter on the princess tour a few weeks ago. She had a blast. Was shy at first but the workers are good at getting the kids comfortable. They keep them entertained and happy. There is plenty of food and drinks to buy. Definitely worth the money and experience for the kids
Gateway Clipper tour is excellent. Clean facilities and boats. Staff is very friendly and the tour guide had his script down to the finest points. Just an overall outstanding experience and a great way to see and learn about Pittsburgh!!
Good Santa DJ cruise. The Santa breakfast sold out on me this year I took to long. Good price fun for kids.
Our group did the Sunday at 11 tour. It was very relaxing and entertaining.
This boat tour was fun! I loved seeing the city from the water and see where all the rivers meet and the commentary over the loud speakers was interesting. If I got out to the city more often I would try more of the different tours they offer. Of course it didnt hurt that we had amazing late summer/ Autumn weather the day we did this. Outstanding view of sunset clouds from the deck of the boat. I would recommend this tour to anyone who enjoys a boat ride. I honestly cant wait to do it again!
Was really nice first time on the tour boat.
My first time today and wow I will never forget this day. I was absolutely smiling from ear to ear. An absolute bucket list thing to do!
Nice river cruise with a good narrator. I enjoyed it and would recommend.
My boyfriend took me for my 30th birthday it was a beautiful experience the only bad thing I have to say is the food I felt like they took a whole bunch of hungry man dinners heated it up and threw it in the pans hopefully they can do better with the food next time
Service was amazing. Food was very good.
Lovely paddle wheel boat tour on the three rivers. I love Pittsburgh and this was a wonderful way to see the city.
Very enjoyable evening! Tight quarters but our tablemates were pleasant. Food was good.
My family and I had a great time. We learned a lot about our city, too!
One hour sightseeing cruise is a great introduction to Pittsburghs history and rivers. Excellent views and photo ops too when you sit on higher decks.
Nice informative tour.. A little hot but very enjoyable
Was on the Clipper for a catered party, been on for the Valentines cruise, and several other times for various events and sight seeing cruise. All those times and they didnt disappoint. Its an experience most will enjoy. Theyre very professional and courteous, but you can relate with them on a personal level, which makes it all that much nicer.
Best way to enjoy and learn about the history of Pittsburgh. The entire ride is one hour and they do explain about the facts of the city. Do check out Groupon before purchasing the ticket for the cruise as Groupon always has offers for the cruise ticket. Check out the evening cruises to escape from the sun. They do offer dinner cruises which are great options for romantic date night with your loved one
