Only red covered bridge in the city. Nice hike from parking. Nice trout fishing underneath.
A great place to sit back and reflect. Also a great place to take pictures.
I go down there once a week withe my family and we walk and enjoy the scenery
This is a really cool bridge. I love this park!
Nice. Short walk about .6mil from parking
Cool place gone back in the fall it has got to be beautiful and creepy in Oct.
This bridge is a cool, interactive piece of history. My 5 yr old loves to run across the thick wooden slats. They now have a journal at the bridge so you can leave a little note to the bridge or people who use it about anything. There arent many wooden covered bridges left in the US and Im sure none left as well maintained as this one. Highly recommend checking it out.
The park is always beautiful but rules are not being followed. On my last visit with three of my kids, a family with three fairly large sized dogs stampeded (literally speaking) past us to play in the water. The dogs were not aggressive but they were running all over and bumping into us. The owners were at fault, not the dogs. We left the area after I realized the owners were not going to stop their dogs from running around wildly. Another family with two kids also left the area. The rules are clear that all dogs must be on a leash that is no more than 6 feet long at all times. There were people in multiple areas, swimming. Swimming is forbidden/illegal. At least two groups were cooking out in areas NOT designated for that. Maybe these incidents are not a big deal to some but once you start breaking the rules, its only a matter of time before theyre all broken. Its a slippery slope. Rules are in place for a reason....some for safety and others so ALL visitors can enjoy the space. The dog incident is what shortened our stay in the area that is our usual designated rest spot. We like this area because it is peaceful and a good resting spot by the water, just not on this visit. Sadly, we biked for a long time to get to the spot and ended up turning right back around to leave. If you like to bike, jog, run, walk, or hike, it is still a very good place to do those things. The three stars is specific to this visit. There are other times I would have given five stars.
I love walking along Forbidden Drive and the bridge is a lovely landmark.
Awesome historic covered bridge. Especially beautiful when there is snow on the ground!
Its quite a hike to get to from forbidden bridge. Lol. Once you get location of covered bridge there is a book you can sign in and say you was there. Can read when others visited. Majestic view on both sides of bridge. Clean and quiet place for family to visit while on either side of the trails.
My husband and I bike along the Wissahickon creek on Forbidden drive on breezy spring days and we like to stop at this bridge to rest. It is a pleasant spot to stop and have a snack. Good picture spot too.
Beautiful and still in great condition from the restoration done a dozen years ago.
Gorgeous artifact from historical philadelphia.
Simply enchanting! Great place to walk, ride bikes or even horses. Beautiful views! Clean and safe areas. There are restrooms were the Valley Green Inn is located. BBQ spaces and good fishing.
Wonderful piece of history.
Bridge may be pretty however, there is a undescibed walk you must find and take to get there. Recommend having a local take you there.
Another great photo op.
Very beautiful area!
Great small waterfall and covered bridge which is closed to automobiles. Picnic tables and barbecues pits available with a view of the Wissahickon Creek.
Beautiful. Great photo op.
Old is gold
I grew up in nearby Andorra and as a kid I caught rainbow and brown trout under that bridge. We called it the Red Covered Bridge then! Great memories...
Should have looked at pictures first. Was not the train we decided to give there but was very disappointed if had no windows. Could not look out and appreciate the scenery since it is just a dark tunnel.
One of my favorite areas in the wissahicon.
Enjoy a shady walk along the Wissahickon on a hot summer day.
Good hiking destination.
Perfect place to stop and rest for a minute to soak in the landscape that surrounds
