Adorable destination just outside of the city. Spacious walking trails and high scenery that surrounds you as you follow the river to this old covered bridge.

Great place to walk and admire the fall foliage. The old time charm of the covered bridge was equally appealing.

This bridge is a cool, interactive piece of history. My 5 yr old loves to run across the thick wooden slats. They now have a journal at the bridge so you can leave a little note to the bridge or people who use it about anything. There arent many wooden covered bridges left in the US and Im sure none left as well maintained as this one. Highly recommend checking it out.

The park is always beautiful but rules are not being followed. On my last visit with three of my kids, a family with three fairly large sized dogs stampeded (literally speaking) past us to play in the water. The dogs were not aggressive but they were running all over and bumping into us. The owners were at fault, not the dogs. We left the area after I realized the owners were not going to stop their dogs from running around wildly. Another family with two kids also left the area. The rules are clear that all dogs must be on a leash that is no more than 6 feet long at all times. There were people in multiple areas, swimming. Swimming is forbidden/illegal. At least two groups were cooking out in areas NOT designated for that. Maybe these incidents are not a big deal to some but once you start breaking the rules, its only a matter of time before theyre all broken. Its a slippery slope. Rules are in place for a reason....some for safety and others so ALL visitors can enjoy the space. The dog incident is what shortened our stay in the area that is our usual designated rest spot. We like this area because it is peaceful and a good resting spot by the water, just not on this visit. Sadly, we biked for a long time to get to the spot and ended up turning right back around to leave. If you like to bike, jog, run, walk, or hike, it is still a very good place to do those things. The three stars is specific to this visit. There are other times I would have given five stars.

Its quite a hike to get to from forbidden bridge. Lol. Once you get location of covered bridge there is a book you can sign in and say you was there. Can read when others visited. Majestic view on both sides of bridge. Clean and quiet place for family to visit while on either side of the trails.

My husband and I bike along the Wissahickon creek on Forbidden drive on breezy spring days and we like to stop at this bridge to rest. It is a pleasant spot to stop and have a snack. Good picture spot too.

I grew up in nearby Andorra and as a kid I caught rainbow and brown trout under that bridge. We called it the Red Covered Bridge then! Great memories...

Should have looked at pictures first. Was not the train we decided to give there but was very disappointed if had no windows. Could not look out and appreciate the scenery since it is just a dark tunnel.
