Always loved this place as a kid and was so happy I was able to take my children for the first time!! They absolutely loved it! Will be taking them again

Very cool playground, especially the wooden slide. They are undergoing renovations inside, hopefully this includes the bathrooms. The building is very unique but the bathrooms were a little weird. (In the basement, formerly horse stalls I think).

We had a great time. They have things for toddlers, young kids, and older kids to enjoy. They do have picnic benches, however they may be limited due to parties reserving them. Not to worry though, there is plenty of space in the front yard to lay out a blanket and some lawn chairs. A food truck showed up with some basic menu items and water-ice.We will definitely be going back!

A lot of space to let your kids play, be it on the different playgrounds (theres one playground area which is for the toddlers specifically), around nature or on the giant wooden slide.Also, on their webpage you can find out info about their working hours, events and the like. I couldnt take my kid to the playhouse, since its under construction. And, last but not least, entrance its free!

Wonderful playground! Excellent individual structures with a setup that had my Very Strong and never quits 7yr old granddaughter going from one piece of equipment to the next without any need for encouragement! My late husband used to *Cherish the Right* to help polish the giant wood slide when he was a kid in the 1950s. When it was neglected due to the cost of up keep etc through the years he was very sad. He was Vietnam vet, with all the pain conflict that he had, it was Wonderful for us to visit the slide with our kids in late 1990s. They were able to slide, not in the Grandeur of his childhood. Saturday when I took my granddaughter the slide was in Beautiful Condition! The playground around it has soft landing material all around the structures. My husband used to laugh about how in our day jungle gyms were all metal pipes, built tall with concrete all around them so we could crack our heads open! It was a perfect day in our Memorial Weekend! (Be sure to go inside to see pics of history on all 3 floors, it is a good opportunity to teach kids how things have changed and how they havent). Also, they need donations to fix the bathrooms, just FYI... It was a perfect little trip! We were a little busy so I guess I didnt get a pic of the slide?!

Our kids had fun. They just need some work done and clean up but its free so nobody can complain for a free big park with a nice big slide for them.

A nice place to take your kids. Its donation based, so you can donate the amount you want and enter the par. They have painting activities (at least the day I went). Kids can run and play on the different stations.

A fantastic playground, playhouse, and educational resource. There is something Tor every kid of every age. The playhouse is great for on its own, but especially awesome to have somewhere to go if you get caught in the rain! They also do birthday parties and events. Highly recommend coming here with your little ones!

Always a great time. A bit crowded on weekends, but that was expected. Great for kids from walking age to 10ish

Everything was clean, there was hand sanitizer places all around. The kids had a blast!

Im new to Philadelphia and I am a nanny as well. Everytime I bring the children here the staff is so polite and they always welcome you with open arms.Today two lovely ladies sit out and were super welcoming when my child and I came in.. Tiffany and Shasmine thank you so much for your kindness and all your help during our stay.

Best park in Philly hands down! Something to do for all ages. Giant wooden slide is and will always be 1 of the best things to do there. The park has super clean grounds, lots of shade and fun entertainment for my 5.5 year old! We will be back next week.

This place is huge alot of land and different rooms. I attend a 5yr birthday party here, and it was awesome!

Spectacular playground. Huge, open, well maintained, immensely varied option that is a must visit. We drive down from NYC to take advantage of all Philadelphia has to offer and this is a required stop. Our kids have a blast here. A special feature includes the wooden, covered slide that provides burlap sacks for maximum sliding fun. Can’t recommend this place enough

I heard a dad saying dont run..... Okay run.....Thats common here. We get to follow our children in a safe play environment, or we can rest a bit on one of the many strategically located benches.

Omg this place is one ofbthe best parks Ive been too. Cute gem in the middle of strawberry mansion. People travel 45 minutes or,more to get to this. They have 3 tiers a slide thats wicked cool. A must for fall visit wont regret it. Clean grounds friendly staff

U can smell the history when u walk in the house. The parks are perfect for children. Employees are friendly and they have a lot of activities year round. And the big slide is the best!

Smith Playground is a excellent free resource for energetic kids to run wild! The wooden slide alone is good for 30 mins+ of fun but there is enough space and stations for every kid toddler-to-10.

Son and my daughter-in-law and my grandchildren we went there we will definitely go back there it is such an awesome Place such an awesome place I cant say enough nice things about it I love the layout of it is all very very kid friendly and its free no cost to get in I would say if youre looking for family enjoyment go there with your children from your little ones

We love this park, if you have kids under 10, they will all find something to do and play, just keep in mind the park closes on Monday and the hours are 10am-4pm, if you go at the wrong time your kids will turn into snot monsters.

What an awesome place for kids. I have a 2 year old and a 5 year old and there is a lot to do at both ages. My 5 year old loves the dramatic play and kitchen areas. My 2 year old loves the train area and the downstairs city and street area. Both love the playground. We have been wanting to come here for over a year and are very glad we came.

Amazing place for young kids. I would say this is a great place up to 10 years old. An amazing legacy, and so thankful for a past of people who were so forward thinking.

The Smith house is great for small children. We especially enjoyed the playgrounds in the back!

One of the best parks Ive been to. The kids (ages 3,9 & 15) love when we visit this park. Tons of space to run, things to climb on, jump on, swing on. Numerous shaded areas to cool off in. Plenty of grassy areas to have picnics. Definitely 5 stars!

I came here for the very first time today as a field trip and my kids ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT! The playground is huge and its pretty spread out so you can always find something for your kids. Theres rope toys, a giant slide, an underground racetrack and a huge climbing course. I dont think any kid can be bored here.

Always a great place to bring my daughter to have some fun. The staff is very friendly. We went this past Saturday for a bookbag giveaway. Been coming here for years. Its always clean and well kept, great play area for children. Highly recommended.

They really encourage kids to be creative and develop their social and motor skills! It’s hidden away in east Fairmont park and contains a rich history.

Nice playground with different areas for age groups and a cool old slide that you ride down on burlap sacks. The building is being renovated, but the playground behind it is still great by itself.

Weve been to the playground many times. The admission is a donation, which is awesome during the times that youre hurting for cash but need something to do; you can always double your donation the next time, or scrape together some change. They dont allow food in the park, which keeps the place clean, but is kind of a bummer. They dont search your bags or anything, so we usually have a snack and drink with us, but were always very careful to make no mess and leave nothing behind. We always enjoy the huge, well groomed playground, its a fun place, shady, so even on the hottest days, you can usually find a place to stay out of the sun, and my 8 year old has an incredible time every time we go.

This is actually one of the best parks we have seen in Philadelphia. We also enjoyed that there is a sign in for the parents and the number of children you bring. There are lots of activities for children to do here for big and small plus they also give out free books for kids. We definitely would recommend this park its safe the safe are lovely and its fenced so your kids cant roam to far and get hurt.

Great park for many ages! Inside house really tailored to younger ages, like under 5. Outside playground is HUGE with plenty of climbing structures and area for older kids to run.

We had a blast during community day.I will say it is not the easiest when maneuvering a stroller. Other guests were nice and also had strollers. It was a welcoming experience. Staff was pleasant. Parking is always first come first served. street parking is available.

Great place for kids to hangout. Employees are super friendly and always welcoming you with a pleasant smile. Enough parking space. Parking space may be bit short, if its really a busy day. Wooden slide with sack seems to be favourite of all (even parents accompanying small ones are enjoying it)seems. Play area is seggregated in to 4 sections, which is nice). Entry is free, but i heard that donations from the guests helps to run it smoothly. Restrooms are available there in the main building.

We have been here several times and my daughter absolutely loves it. Our most recent visit was for Kidchella, back in early August. We had such a great time!

Great outdoor playground that is well maintained if you consider the lack of funding and support from the city. It could be so much more with just a decent sized budget

This is a really nice playground for all ages!! The outside grounds are the best part. The playhouse though is really old and outdated and so are the toys! Wasnt what I expected so we didnt spend a lot of time in there but my 2 year old loved all of it.

Too much fun to mention!! I didnt get to go into the Big House because of a private party but outside is one Giant Playground. The children have a variety of play options on different ground levels. The wooden slide w/burlap bag is short but sweet. Ya gotta slide on that more than once or twice. Everything is monitored, even a person w/bull horn telling us 15minutes b4 closing. She took a photo of our group as we were the Last to leave. Enjoyment @its best. Itss free to play

Very large childrens space. My kids loved the giant wooden slides and all theres to do outside. Inside, the air was not good, there is no ventilation. So we didnt stay inside the playhouse. No food trucks stopped by today, thats a bummer. There is a water fountain at the playground, so you can refill your bottle.

This is a wonderful hidden gem in Philly.They have playgrounds for big and small kids as well as a huge wooden slide. They also have a indoor play area that is really great when the weather is not. My kid has a blast every time we go to Smith. The only recommendation I have is an upgrade to the bathrooms. If you have a small child, they do not have changing tables in the bathrooms.

So much for kids to do. The wooden slide is still a hit like it was when I was a kid. I enjoyed the different outdoor play areas. There was also a lot to do for kids in the playhouse, although it can get a little hot and stuffy in the summer.

The playground is really big and fun with plenty of stuff to do for all ages. Theres an inside and outside for your preference, and theres always a ton of kids out for your kids to play with. My only complaint would be the cleanliness of certain spaces and that some things should be updated or maintenanced but its still a great spot to bring your child for free!

Outdoor area is great. My kids really loved the large slide. I was a little disappointed with the upkeep of the inside play area.

The best park in North Philly. Very diversified, safe, clean, and lots to do. i only go there with my kids. The big slide is a landmark. The hours are also good. Parking it a hit and miss as the spots fill up fast.
