A great getaway from the hustle and bustle of Philadelphia; a place to commune with nature and the Delaware River. Designated as an important bird area by the Audubon Society, the park offers on a typical day of birdwatching, sightings of the resident bald eagles, red-tailed and Coopers hawks, an American kestrel, various song birds and waterfowl. Today I spotted a bufflehead duck in the creek. If youre really lucky, the resident red-morph screech owl will make an appearance in the fall and winter. Deer and red foxes may surprise you too.

Great day for a walk outside in the fall weather and Pennypack Park was the perfect place for it. Trees are just beginning to turn. There were lots of people out today. Saw a few senior citizens, some moms and dads with baby coaches and lots of young kids...teenagers too taking pictures of each other. A running club practicing and people having picnics. This was around the Winchester Park area.

Great trails for hiking, biking, foraging, and studying the ecology of SEPA. There are plenty of spots to host family picnics, playgrounds for kids, and even paved trails that are wheelchair accessible. The park is also conveniently located in the Northeast part of the city and accessible by bus. Theres also a rustic, but informative environmental center with displays about our native flora and fauna.

I have loved Pennypack Park since I was a kid. Now I try to visit once a week to get away from the craziness around my home in Kensington. The weather was beautiful and I was able to relax with a wonderful, long walk with my dogs. The pictures are from the entrance near Rhawn street by Winchester Ave.

The best part of penny pack park is along the river behind the prisons, big open fields to play any kind of sports or to let the dog run, there are also a short bike n walking trail, if ya walk the trail all the way back till the end n look up across a swampy pond in the trees about two hundred yards back ya can see an Eagles nest n if lucky enough actually see it soaring over head, you also can just sit in ur car facing the river n just sit back n rest.

Went biking on the main trail today. Very clean. Good workout for the legs with the couple of inclines. Went end to end and back for a total of 17.8 miles. Started at Verree Road. This is not the place to start if you are driving there. Best place is Pine Road. Good parking there. The only parking at Verree Road in on the road. Closest (small) lot is at the environmental center a block away.

The park was a great find. Trails were clear as well as paved paths. People were around enjoying the open space and wasnt crowded. My kids enjoyed climbing the boulders and. Our dog got in a nice walk and splashed in the water to cool off. One of my top five places I need to return to in Fall to watch the leaves change

Great place to take the kids while they are home from school. Something very different from the usual cement and row homes of the Philadelphia neighborhoods. Walk the trails, skip rocks, ride the bike paths. Seeing a few deer is not uncommon. Dont really know if its allowed but when we were a lot younger, we would go swimming in the creek. A rope swing hanging from a tree, is all it took to have a good time. Try not to swallow and of the water. It is not filtered. Have seen a couple people become sick due to swallowing too much creek water. Self proclaimed rock skipper in Northeast Philly! Lol.

A safe refuge from the city chaos and noise. Very diverse with animals that range from white tails deer to frogs, trails, off road little paths and so on. Alas, no restrooms and the access on Rahwn street could use a good re-paving since the asfalt is litterally a mine fields for cars and trucks (lots of HOLES)

Great place when youre with others. By yourself tho, especially during a rainy day, every sound will break your neck and you just better have brought bread crumbs with you if you wanna make it back outta there. One wrong turn and its survival mode real quick. Better have your boy/girl scout badge and ready to get a little dirty.

We visited on a Sunday with our dog, hiking from the Pine Road entrance to Verree Road and back. The Park was very crowded, with groups hanging out by the Pennypack Creek, fishing, and strolling. We started out on the paved trail that runs parallel to the creek. This trail was overrun with bicyclists speeding by. Instead, take the unpaved path on the other side of the creek, entering at Verree Road. This path was shady, and less congested with foot traffic. There are no trash cans, and the 1 restroom we saw was locked. HIghlights are Thoreaus Hut, the creek and the park grounds. Across from Pine Road is Fox Chase Farm, an educational working farm open to the public. You can walk the trail and see cows.

This park is so realizing when you walk in it. The natur feels so good when you walk around you feel like its a adventure. They have little challenges for you ever step you take. Its a safe space for running, walking, going on picnics and much more. When you walk around youll see a lot of wild life and nature. It almost feels like a forest that no human touched or cut trees from. There is also a river that goes through a bridge. Its a great place to take pictures and have fun. Hope you found this helpful

Great place to walk trails- they scatter, split off, and go around for miles. You can also bike, jog, etc. I took my 7 and 4 year old to ride their scooters hoping it would wear them out. It did no such thing. Regardless though, It was a fun time. There are tons of entrances and different things to see on the trails from each entrance- different parts of the creek, little bridges, small open fields, etc.
