Ellie was very helpful, we could tell she loves her job. Our first time to Philly, she made it a great trip! Everyone friendly and helpful. We are from the west coast and will visit again. Bathrooms clean.
The park rangers were really helpful and factual about the structures, time period and events going on around the area. There was also a neat gift shop inside.
This is where to line up to get tickets to see Independence Hall. Get there when it first opens and you’ll be able to get the tickets and time you want. It’s worth it. The tour through Independence Hall is amazing. To think of what happened there and how lives would be different had those who were there not had the courage they did. An amazing tour.
Make this your first stop in Philadelphia... tourist info is second to none..staff very helpful & informative.. take the guided walking tour... one of the best!! Liberty Bell is housed here & although there was a lineup to view it, there were some great displays and visuals to make the time go by fast.. Highly recommend!
Great history of the Liberty Bell and womens suffrage and their right to vote
The Visitor Center is a sight for sore eyes after a numbing road trip. Its a no-brainer must visit with enticing Clean Restroom, food and drinks everywhere. Several souvenir shop to ease your mind and your wallet. Overall a pleasant stopover. After a breather, take care of your appetite then pass through this place to the main event on the other side of the street.
Getting a chance to see the library bell with my family was pretty awesome
Look at these clean bathrooms! This was towards end of day on a Sunday, Summer weekend- typically a time hit hard by tourists. But the staff kept it sparkling clean. Their sinks also include faucet and hand dryer in one! (Se pic in other review. Unfortunately I only have video of this wonder.)Great free movies of all the local places of interest in a roughly two block radius- nice for when you rather just stay inside in A.C. than be present at historically important places.
Helpful staff. Nice cafe and gift shop.
Its a great visitor center compared to many other cities visitor centers. Whats really nice is that its very well staffed by helpful employees as well as national park rangers that are very knowledgeable. They have multiple maps in multiple languages to help you around the city. I also recommend that you take a moment to watch a video on Philly in the visitor center, its pretty neat and not too long. Also, this is where you can get your free tickets to go inside independence hall.
This place has a very helpful staff and a very location in the historic part of philadelphia
The Independence Visitor Center was a god send despite it being the obvious first choice to look when it comes to suggestions on what to do in Philly. We went and drove to Philly from New York on a whim last minute, and when we arrived, a lot of government facilities were closed and couldn’t tour Independence Hall and such because of the government shutdown. So we were at a loss on what to do.Good thing the center was open even with the shutdown so we got great suggestions on free and paid things to do around the area that were open and operational.
The Independence Visitors Center is a great place to get all the information you seek regarding tours, events, places to eat, shopping destinations and much more. The amenities include seating areas and restrooms. You can also purchase light snacks, coffee and beverages. There is even a very nice souvenir shop located inside, albeit a bit more expensive than it should be.Among the information booths you will find a National Park Service booth offering information on local destinations.
Highly knowledgeable staff and a staple to American history. This is a most stop in Philly.
Very clean, and information. Good bathrooms, maps of the court, and the Park Rangers address set up here. Probably the best place to start the visit, and get your bearings. If you have kids, visit the rangers, as they have a program especially for them. You can also grab a snack or something from the souvenir shop. They also had a movie going off some sort, if you want to sit and rest for a bit, and enjoy some history.
Clean, great customer service, and wonderful people that works there
The Visitor Center was very helpful to us. We were able to get maps and discounts to several exhibits. We ended up doing the 2 day all inclusive pass and it was well worth it. It is very convenient to the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall and the Constitution Museum.
Staff were very knowledgeable and friendly. Bear in mind there are no reservations required for the Liberty Bell. When you book a tour - it will be for Independence Hall. Stop and smell the history - the conflict that must have powered and overpowered the Men of that era. Apply what they went through to present day conflict. Not much difference. The power of the pen lies with our power of the vote regardless of your party or view. Take in the history so that the same mistakes nay not be made again.
Nice to know about 1st United States Postmaster General”Philadelphia keeps the same importance as Boston in American independence history. and their downtowns are almost similar. Franklin court was in our checklist of Philly and it did not disappoint us when we get to know how Mr Franklin started post office, how he lived there. Remains of the old house are still preserved and well maintained. The old path which Mr. Franklin used to take to reach his house, is still in use. See pics for more
The best things All Things Philly!
Impeccably clean, great gift shop.
This is a large building with a fun gift shop, information desk, place to get tickets to visit Independence Hall, large, clean bathrooms and more. There is a cafe here, but it wasnt open when we were there.Everyone who worked there was really helpful and friendly. You can get maps, brochures, and arrange a variety of tours here, too.
Great to see American history in its glory
Very cool experience! Could use a loud speaker for the tour guides so you can actually hear the speaker. Tickets go SUPER fast (enen though its free) So pick them up ASAP at the information center. Its about 30 minutes total. Very informative as well.
The people who work there are very nice. They give you information about stuff in the area. You can also buy tickets for different tours around Philly. There was also a girl there who told me and my family a story. There is different people dressed up. There is also a little museum there.
Get information and maps for around the city! There is also a gift shop, bathrooms and Hershey Ice Cream! New to the city? The Phlash bus is definitely worth it to get around and you can buy tickets at the information desk!
Great and clean place however queues are super long even on week days
Great for souvenir shopping, tickets to various things, city passes, and the rare public restroom. Sits right in the middle of historic area.
They were super helpful, the place is nice and clean. We got tickets to Independence Hall, we got there at 10am and got tickets for 4pm. Tickets go fast, so go early or you wont get them.
Live show was good. Statues the signing hall were fun but, I felt that the price was a bit high.
Truly an incredible experience to remember, re-learn about our history. Very clean and organized building. Workers were very hospitable and knowledgeable.
Amazing. Filled with information to learn the history of the bell. It is well taken care of.
We enjoyed Hersheys hot cocoa on a cold day. We also stenciled words on a small bit of Liberty Bell replica and watched a free short movie about Philadelphias historic past. And, used the bathroom :)
Great place to start if its your first time here. Very helpful. Youll find Brochures, maps and information provided on anything and everything. If youre looking for somewhere in particular theyll point it out on the map for you and make it even easier to navigate.Theres a gift shop with shirts, key chains, magnets, the typical tourist stuff. So be sure to check it out.Highly recommend you stop by Hersheys for a treat on your way out. Great cookies and drinks. They also have a little gift shop area with chocolate themed gifts with a Philadelphia twist.
The visitor center is a nice clean place to stop. Has restrooms and information. This is also where you pick up free tickets for Independence Hall. Right across from the Liberty Bell.
Well organized information center. Recommend early arrival as independence hall tickets are often out by 11-12. Small food kiosk, clean bathrooms, great although very crowded souvenir shop.
Great History.Well organized.
Great! Very helpful staff. Here guided tours to historical areas of Philly are available and also you can get tickets for the hop on and off sightseeing bus. Staff is multilingual and I saw English and Spanish desks featured prominently, Im sure they support other languages too. I saw a guided tour of the Liberty bell being conducted for and in Chinese.Highly recommended. Please do visit.
Gift shop has a variety of souvenirs to purchase, also the snack kiosks has a good assortment to choose from, a little pricey, but delicious all the same.
I will always love Philadelphia.
Just had my daughters wedding here! Wow what a PERFECT event! Amazing staff! Excellent food! Beautiful event space. You cant go wrong holding a celebration here.
The place to start if its your first time in Philly. They have all the information about where to go and whats going on in the city. Really helpful and nice people willing to help you.
Clean, huge, and informative visitor center. Learned a lot of historical event and information throughout my time there.
Great location. Super clean. Information desk was very helpful when asked how to find things and about parking information for nearby locations.
Great location. Parking right next to it/under it, price for parking is a bit high but half the price of others in the city. The place seems well funded with cafeteria, gift shop, restrooms and helpful, friendly and knowledgeable staff. There are a few exhibits. You get the free tickets to Independence Hall tours here.
Very informative and well organized. This is your first place to start when visiting Philly. Take a picture with Rocky.
Great place to come if you need help planning your day’s activities and sightseeing.
Honestly the best place to start your Philly experience. Here you can grab something to eat, grab some gifts and souvenirs, theres a couple theaters that play some awesome audio visuals of Philadelphia as well as the fine folks of Independence NHP to help with any information as well as help you get your tickets, maps, and everything to ensure that your time in Philadelphia and the Old City are memorable.
Great place for information. The staff were helpful and the place was organized. Not the usual chaos you see at a popular tourist attraction.
Awesome place to visit whenever you are in Philly, it tells you all about the great history of United States of America in great detail, you will be amazed to learn so much about the United States at one place itself, do watch films which are showcased at the center also at different times, definately worth visiting
Very large and comprehensive. You could actually spend a couple hours in this place alone. They have a Philly film that plays on repeat in the theater that will show you many of the cities attractions. Also, there is a couple places in here to grab a coffee or a quick bite to eat. One of the better visitors centers that Ive seen and I definitely recommend that you start here if youre sightseeing in Philly for the first time.
How can one not visit the birth place of the nation?
Great resource for first-time visitors. The t-shirts in the gift shop are way overpriced($30). Be careful- the ladies shirts run small. I normally wear a medium so I bought one and its too tight. Now Im stuck with a shirt I cant wear since I live in FL.
We were impressed with the management of it all. The space and atmosphere itself was very open and welcoming despite being busy with people. We arrived ~11am and quickly got our tickets for the Independence Hall tour. You pick them up HERE at the National Park Service desk and meet AT THE HALL for the tour later. Could be confusing, but worked out well for us. Also, the tour is free, you just need tickets.Theres a nice gift center here, as well as a lot of visitor center information.
Well informed and organised Center that will take you on the journey of the great history of this country. It’s free
Lots of history (obviously) and very informative. Ed, I believe was his name, was fantastic and funny as our tour guide of the East Wing.
It’s easy to spend an entire day in this place and its immediate vicinity, checking out all the historic buildings and visitor attractions and learning about their history.
This is where youll go to get your tickets for tours youre taking later in the day. Theres a coffee shop, tour vendors, clean bathrooms, warmth (very important in winter), and a rotating exhibit. Id suggest you meet up here and use the restrooms before queuing up on line to see the Liberty Bell.
South West Protest Detail week.
It’s a very clean place. They have used latest technology tap in the restroom (automatic wash & dry using the same tap).
They have video telling about various historical sites in Philadelphia, as well as friendly staff and rangers to assist with finding places and providing tickets.
Great space, could have more attractions for kids so they would want to learn about the U.S. history
Good place to get your bearings and plan out what you want to do while youre in the area.
This should be your first stop in Philadelphia if you are a tourist. Great spot to learn what is available for tours, museums ...and more. People here were extremely helpful. Liberty bell is straight across the street as well. Fyi, this is where you pick up tickets for independence hall tours. Come early in the morning!
All the liberty trinkets
Make sure you check out the terrace upstairs. Nice place to chill for a few minutes and take in the view of Independence Hall.
Rangers were so helpful. They took their time to explain the map and pointed out spots of interest. They were Great!
Parking garage elevators bring you directly to the Visitor Center. Places to eat: Hersheys chocolate, cheese steaks, coffee. Nice restrooms. Nice gift shop, not too expensive. Helpful information staff, free maps of the area, colonial period dressed people playing music, reenactors drawing Betsy Rosss house, free movie about Philadelphia and area. Great place to visit. Within walking distance of so many historical buildings such as the National Constitution Center, Liberty Bell, Congress Hall and Betsy Ross house, Christ Church and a lot more. Just wonderful to take a tour or sit and relax on the mall (grassy area).
Huge visitor center~ Besides information booth, tour desks, gift shops, snack vendors and small theater (showing highlight of the city). The staffs are very friendly and helpful. It opens at 8:30am and visitors are already waiting in line for the free admission tickets to the Independence Hall. I love the story telling time at the hallway. They dress up as characters and super knowledgeable about the history.
The indoor museum (across the street) was spectacular. So cool to see the liberty Bell.Beautiful to say the least.
Birthplace of our great country. Every American needs to visit. Very neat and cool.
A lot of history and information, employes very helpful and informative. One young kid was very informed of the history in the signing of the Declaration of Independence and the events that happened prior to the signing. He also very informative about the men who signed the Declaration of IndependenceBuilding is beautifully designed, easy access for handicapped. Only complaint is the air conditioning was not working.
So much great history! And its freeeee!! The lines really werent too bad, and they have some pretty cool stuff to read while waiting. I loved my visit. Definitely awakens a sense of Pride in our roots and heritage.
Fantastic visit here. Cant wait to go back.
Love the national parks and learning about our history!
We spent so much time in here they have super clean bathrooms, gift shop, history, guided tour, food n photo opportunities
Very helpful. Public bathrooms. Place to sit after a long day. Very clean. Concession stands
Great clean bathrooms. An extremely overpriced gift shop ($50 T-Shirts!!!!) The walk up process for tickets to Independence Hall was a huge bummer, I tried to reserve tickets online and it said walk up only and for our size group the only tickets available were 5 hours out. Its a beautiful building I just wish they wouldve allowed the ticketing to be done ahead so we could have planned better.
They give discounts and they have an awesome gift shop
I like how they remodeled everything.. thats usually my first stop with out of town friendstake the phlash shuttle from there $5/person all day stops at almost all the cool spots
Heres where you go for some historic info.
Useful guide information
Great place to get oriented with the city and figure out your plan for the day. We stamped our National Parks Passports at the check in counter and picked up our tickets for Independence Hall. Great bathroom facility here that was large and clean and a very good gift shop.
Make sure you get here early if u want tickets to anything! Cool place to Mill around while waiting for ur tour
Great Location. A clean, safe area to bring family with great staff
Oh my God. Its a memorable visit for my family. And, I believe every citizen of this country needs to visit. Its not just the birthplace of America, but a place of education and for intellect minds to learn from about the oppression and liberation of black people
Great place to start your trip in Philadelphia. This is where you get your Independence Hall Tickets. You can get your maps of the area. If you have kids stop buy and get there junior ranger magazine.
Was a very interesting place to visit was glad that we went and checked it out.
For some reason this place makes most adults snotty and the children snotter and smelly. It would be interesting if this place turn one of its movie rooms into a How to watch your child room.
Very informative and another great stop on your journey through history!
Nice place to rest during the downtown Philadelphia tour, hit the head, check out the gift shop, and pose for pictures with statues of Rocky, the Phillie Phanatic, and Ben Franklin!
Amazing to actually be there plus its free just pick up ticket from visitor center first. Parking is atrocious, but its worth seeing.
The restroom are always clean and the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable
This place is located in the center of the historic area. Easy to find (if you live thru the traffic nightmare). Very helpful staff. Very clean. You should definitely stop in for info, direction and yours.
Really nice family oriented educational experience. Such amazing self guided tours with interesting facts about American history, President George Washington and the slavery in America etc.
Historically important place
Informative and well created learning space, I wish the National Park Rangers did a better job of involving the children during our visit. I TRULY respect and LoVE the national park Rangers I have met at more than 20 locations on the east coast, but this visit I did not feel their passion for the work they do. (Ofcourse this is not for all there in Philadelphia, but many) I want to believe that it might be due to a busy summer and we were there on Labor day. I would like to go back and learn more about our nations history. Definitely worth the visit.
