Significantly educational on most things Benjamin Franklin. We came away with a new respect for his genius. This museum tastefully addresses many important aspects of his life. We stood in awe. There was a graphic movie with him writing and explaining his club of thinkers and his broad interests in all kinds of sciences. What a treasure to see this collection!
A cool place. Theres a lot of interactive and newer exhibits that draw younger visitors in with screens and technology. Thats fine, I just dont get into it. I would rather see true artifacts or articles pertinent to the individual. I particularly liked the excavations of the house, the framed outline of the house, and the printing house. A neat stop in an area that has a lot to see.
We loved this place, It is only $5.00 pp to get in and has the life story of BF. The Ghost structures outside of the museum are very interesting, dont forget to look down and read the inscriptions on the ground, they are very informative. Also while in the Museum, look for Skrugg the Squirrel, he helps explain the exhibits.
Nice little museum detailing the life of one of Americas greatest citizens.
This museum for some reason did not resonate with me. It is interactive and has many exhibits, but at the same time it felt empty and spartan. My kids enjoyed it, but I just didnt have an interest and the presentation of the material was sort of dimmly lit and underwhelming.
Ab excellent Museum for children and adults alike. They have a lot of exhibits here including railway terminal, the planetarium and the space exhibit. But the brain and heart exhibits were most informative. I quite enjoyed walking around the halls. They also have special exhibits happening in between that are very interesting and are charged seperately (not included in admission ticket) Those are great to watch but always check the timings and go. Theres a theatre here too that has special exhibits running as well. Those are fairly longer. If planned well you can actually spend a whole day here with kids.
Everything was very well done, all the animations and interactive displays make the museum even more interesting. I believe this museum is very suitable for kids above the age 8 or 9 so they can read and understand all the information that has been provided. There is a fee associated with the museum which in my opinion is very fair and necessary to upkeep the quality of work they are providing. I highly recommend this place.
Excellent setting, made me feel appreciating of the past and inspired for the future
Nice, small museum with lots of information on Ben Franklins like and achievements. Fairly cheap too
A mildly nice museum with some interesting details. I especially enjoyed an exhibit which asked you to assess for yourself Franklins record on slavery; and an exhibit with a glass armonica, an instrument which Franklin invented and which you could play yourself on a screen.
We had a great time here. There is a lot for kids to do, learn, see and read and Mom and Dad will probably learn something too. We went during the Marvel Comics event, which was great.
I had to give the Ben Franklin museum five stars because Ben is a bit of an idol to me and it was such a treat to visit and see items from his life. but I think even if I had mild interest I would still give it four or five stars because its a nicely done museum with a very modest entrance fee, and has a range of interactive displays that educate in a fun way about Mr Franklins life. On your way out be sure to purchase a postcard and have it postmarked right at the post office on the ground, founded by Ben Franklin himself.
Theyd changed it from before, which had a great short movie. If you have kids 4 to 10, its perfect for you. I recommend everyone that visits there to see the printing press for educational history, and the post office to see how little the appearances of one (1) little delivery man changed over the years.
Pretty cool museum. Wish they had more of his inventions and experiments. They had some but I wanted more. It’s a smaller museum. Cool interactive screens and lots to read.
Great for families with younger children. Not too much to see/do for teens. Historic homes, print shoppe and post office are amazing!
Great museum, happen to be there for Franklins birthday weekend and the museum had extra stuff for fun. Learned a great deal about the life and accomplishments of such an important figure in American history. Learn more about the guy on our $100 bill.
I love museums. Special that institute so many interesting things u can find
One of the wiser, older, more middle class founding fathers. Definitely check out this museum. Maybe read some history on him, even his autobiography before you check it out.
This is a great addition to our travel, very educational and so cool. The press is still working and make history come to life. Its for all ages.
A very nice small museum with a number of interactive activities. You can go through it comfortably in an hour or less. Also included next door is a replica of an 18th century printing press which a Park Service rep demonstrates.
We got in free because the exhibits were not working. It was still worth our time. We really enjoyed this little museum. The glass armonica was my favorite thing. Be sure to study the structures outside the museum that layout Benjamin Franklins home.
The museum is located in Franklin Court. Entrance to the courtyard is from Market or Chestnut Streets, between 3rd and 4th Streets. Explore Benjamin Franklins life and legacy through his character traits. The exhibit area is divided into five rooms with each room focusing on a particular trait: ardent and dutiful, ambitious and rebellious, motivated to improve, curious and full of wonder, and strategic and persuasive. There are videos, touch screen interactives, mechanical interactives, and artifacts in each room. An additional area called the Library presents a video with excerpts from Franklins Autobiography.
Awesome place! Kids loved it
Loved the printing press demo and post office. Also loved that there were not many people. A great place to visit for a little while at the beginning or end of a long day of crowds.
Very informative place to visit
This place is not included in a national park pass even though it’s a national historic park. I paid $5 to get in but to see no clue of what Benjamin Franklin originally did.For the sake of B Franklin, added one star to two
Not as many artifacts as I was hoping for, but shows signs of improving. What is there is impressive and historically important.
This is a great place to take kids while parents learn a lot also. We spent over an hour going through it all. Many hands on videos to engage everyone.
Not all museums can strike the right balance between engaging kids and informing adults but this museum does. Worth every penny! As a teacher and mother, I appreciated how many interactive points encouraged children to reflect and analyze Franklins words and choices.
We didnt go inside the museum itself (it costs admission - cant remember prices, but it wasnt too bad at all). The exhibits outside, however, are really cool. We loved looking down onto the original foundation of the Franklin home and reading the letters and descriptions from the family and friends. This specific stop really added humanity to the political history of the Independence Mall area.
Cute little museum. Outside is free and will only take 20-30 minutes to look through. Actual museum is in building and underground. You can easily get through all exhibits in an hour. I enjoyed it.
This museum is quite small but its very informative. Located below the Benjamin Franklin house, this small museum has an interactive option for young children to learn about one of our founding fathers. I came here with my cousins (were all adults but it was still fun). The price is fair for the size and you also have the added benefit of the free national park exhibits above.
BF is one of the most amazing and fore thinking people Ive ever heard about. He saw problems and issues and figured out ways to fix things. This is on top of all of his inventions. Hard to believe someone who retired at the age of 42 and lived until age of 82 could make such a difference in our lives.
Very interactive and great information. Perfect for children of all ages. Great place. A must see in Philadelphia.
Small museum in the Center City in Philadelphia. Informative for sure. I like the Storytime corner outside the museum. Always hear new & interesting fun fact. There are many other tourist attractions nearby the museum. Definitely can spend all day in that neighborhood.
Nice small interactive museum to learn everything about Ben Franklin. Good for both adults n kids.
It has 3 stars, because Benjamin Franklin was sort of a mentor to me. Ive read most of his books. I even have a portrait of him in my office. The museum was a disappointment, and admission was over priced. The museum store was more interesting.
A lovely dedication to a great man. Thank you National Park Service!
Awesome interactive museum. You dont have to be a child to enjoy it; although, its ordinarily oriented towards kids. They have a virtual reality exhibit that is really cool. You get to actually try it. Lines can be long and its not a cheap entry fee, but if you have the money and kids, you should go.
Pretty fantastic if youre into American revolutionary history. Im biased as Im a big Ben Franklin fan: wit, sarcasm, inventiveness, founding father, statesman- whats not to love? Also, he drank a LOT of wine.
Not only for kids, nice museum for $5. I spend there around an hour and learned a lot.
If you are a fan of Benjamin Franklin you will love this museum. It has items in it that actually belonged to him! It’s really amazing to see. He was such a genius, and a visionary.
Very kind and helpful staff. Interactive activities.
Great design when it was refurbished. The interactive displays are very informative. The staff are always helpful and courteous.
Cool museum! Only some of the original structures remain, and I definitely felt like the exhibits were more kid oriented. They had markers and a outlines of the original structures that have been torn down, but I was disappointed those aspects of history have been lost (obviously not the museums fault).
Ive always been a Ben Franklin geek since we share a birthday so this visit was very interesting to me. He was such an amazing figure during his time and this place covers all of his achievements in a fun way.
Only 5$ to enter and the exhibits are quite new. Surprised at how much we enjoyed
Pretty cool museum. Had a good time just knowing Franklin had been right here in this press. Bring the kids.
Interesting to see the remains of the house.
What a cool interactive museum. I love what the NPS has done here. Also the windows that you can look down and see the actual house remnants are great.
Fascinating! Franklin was so talented in so many ways. These exhibits tell a great story in an interesting and clear manner. Understanding the past helps us map the future for the better both scientifically and politically.
Loved it. There was so much I didnt know about Ben Franklin.
Tiny and easy to overlook. Worth dropping in for a visit all the same.
This museum is a gem! Thoroughly Benjamin Franklin! Would be great for elementary school age kids too !! Worth the meager price of admission !
Great for the whole family.
Way more fun than I expectedJoin, or die!
Experience of this place is like literally peeping into the mind of an unmatched genius!!!
Loved this museum! It is not huge yet contains a lot of information and artifacts. Almost every display was interactive which was great for my autistic grandson.
Awesome!! Great history and tours.
Fabulous Museum. A lot of interesting displays, and interactive opportunities to keep kids interested. Not so big that you get bored. We enjoyed it very much.
It was really nice. A very interesting person in our history.
The girls did an amazing job with a skit of national womens vote right.
Come on...its history in the making among a bunch of drunkerds right down the street like old times. Its neat to try and think to back in that day when Ben was just doing what he does best...being Ben
Nice little museum. Not as many artifacts as I had hoped. Great location though.
Great place to visit. You can learn about Benjamin Franklins life, And how he became one of our founding fathers. Very educational. I thought it was a great place to visit.
I enjoyed my visit to the museum as well as the other sites in Franklin Court. I left with a better idea of the scope of Franklins life, that went beyond his role to Independence. If you have the slightest curiosity of the man and his times check it out.
Still love museums and this one didnt disappoint.
Amazing to see the history in front of your eyes and go into the museum
Amazing. Take time to see the videos
The museum was great. Went today and arrived at 405, closes at 500. I can say that the lady at the ticket office was rude. When asking questions you could tell she did not want to be there. We visited multiple sites today and this was the only place where we received rude customer service.
This area of Philadelphia is full of amazing American history. Carpenters Hall was a new find. You could spend days here and still not make a dent.
Again its all about the kids Korbyn could not believe the house under the city. He crawled to all the placks and read them. We spent hours in the museum he was excited and said Ben Franklin invented the flippers for swimming and he was smart in math. Enjoyed the cart just wondered why no wheels. Loved it!
Ben Franklins apartment area. Costs a couple bucks to get in. Can see quite a bit from the outside as well. About 45 min to walk through.
Small, reasonable but fun museum! A lot of inter active things to try.
Very informative, you will spend hours and not be bored. Kids loved it as well
My family actually enjoyed this quite a bit. Lots of interactive displays and Benjamin Franklin was a very interesting figure offering lost to explore.
Very excited to wall through. I wanna come back when its open so I can see more.
Very educational for both old and young alike!!
Excellent. A must visit.
Cool museum and grounds. Very informative.
This museum visit was for a specific exhibit, focused in videogames, history, and was awesome.
Its okay. Some things were very interesting.
Worth the time especially with the teenagers. Always something new to learn
Amazing place with great interactive learning! And just for $5 as entry fee for adults
Very informative museum about the life and escapades of a founding father. It doesnt cover his more salacious escapades, as youd expect, but I enjoyed seeing a glass armonica up close.
Museum dedicated to the life and accomplishments of Ben Franklin, run by the National Park Service. Not a huge place, but very good for kids and interesting for adults.
Far worth the $5 entry. We spent 1.5 hours in there. They utilize the space, its interactive and fun, and we learned a lot. Its a hidden gem in Philly.
This place gives me such euphoria. Ben Franklin was a genius and the museum here is really amazing guys. no joke.
One of the best museums and very enjoyable for kids
Love it. You can learn all about how Ben Franklin invented lightning.
Great museum and a very nice place to take a break from the heat on the summer.
Benjamin Franklin was probably the most amazing and fore thinking person Ive ever heard about. He saw problems and issues and figured out responses and ways to fix things. This is on top of all of his Innovations. Hard to believe someone who retired at 42 and lived until 82 could make such a difference in our lives.
This little gem was surprisingly interesting for me, my dh, and my 11 yo stepdaughter. I went into it not expecting much. We needed to kill an hour and we had never been there. Lots of interactive displays and friendly, knowledgeable docents.Be sure to stop by the post office and printing shop out back.
ITS A FREE cool little site to visit!
Amazing, i recommend you get a chance to go here if you like science or Benjamin franklin.
Outside was cool. Too bad his kids tore it down.
