A charming visitor center with a lovely ambience. The employees were very friendly and helpful. On Hwy 111 on the corner of the Tram Road turnoff. The view from the Visitor is Mt. San Jacinto. Near by was a Desert X installation. The next Desert X will be in 2021. This year’s exhibits, located throughout the Coachella Valley region, were fascinating!

Closed Till Further Notice...thats what the sign read as I pulled up to the locked gates at The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway in the beautiful desert community of Palm Springs,California.Located near the Palm Springs Visitors Center the famous tramway has been taking visitors, families, hikers and friends to the top of mountain station and San Jacinto State Forrest since 1963!Covid safety closure was the focus of the Tramway and we are all greatful for it!The courteous security personnel shared that while the PS Tramway is closed they were also working on improvements and construction to make it an evan better experience! It looks like we have a lot to look forward to once everything is completed and safe again-cant wait!Evan though the Tram is on hold be sure to stop into the Palm Springs Visitors center nearby for information and souvenirs of your trip!....#palmspringsaerialtramway #covid #palmsprings #visitpalmsprings #tramway #californiadreamin #californiadreaming #instapalmsprings #palmspringsvisitorcenter #ilovepalmsprings #waynesalvatti #ridethetram #familyfun #goodtimes #hwy111 #palmcanyondrive #desert #socal #sunsout #desertarts #palmspringsart #hottownsummerinthecity

A great place to get all of the brochures that you need for local Palm Springs attractions. You can even purchase discounted tickets to some of the attractions other than the Tramway ride, which much br purchased at the Tramway station. Parking at the station is $8.00. No free parking at the Tramway, but parking is free at the Visitors Center 4 miles away.

A great place to stop as you first come into town. The desert view is amazing here and the view of the mountains is the best in the world. The old mid century modern design historic building is very hip and many people park here and go walking up the tram road. I used my GPS wi-fi video drone camera to get pictures of the area from 300 ft up.

Designed by Albert Frey and Robson Chambers.Conceived by developer Culver Nichols as an entry statement to Palm Springs, the roof is a hyperbolic paraboloid of steel I-beams and corrugated metal roofing supported by steel tubular pillars. Albert Frey was consulted in its 1998-1999 adaptive reuse as a sculpture gallery. This property has been listed in the National Register of Historic Places by the United States Department of the Interior.

Today, we drove from DHS to the visitor center to pick up some advertising material of local businesses we can recommend highly due to our own experiences visiting the area for a decade now. We took 3 prints each of 11 restaurants and tours offered for our newly bought own VRBO property in the area. We got approached by an obviously upset employee, he immediately violated my social space by literally being face to face with me and loudly addressed that I make sure not to take too much. They have a hard time to get those and if everyone that has a short term rental property would behave that badly they would run out if it. Excuse me, until today I thought its the purpose of visitor centers to distribute material to attract more people. First time in my long Globetrotter life that I felt expelled from a visitor center.I would hope everyone who has the opportunity to invite guests to the area takes advantage of those wonderful printed materials.

I stopped by here a few times on my way visiting friends. I have only seen the outside and peeked in thru the windows, since it was closed each time. I used the bathrooms, it was neat and clean, but OMG, the scenery in t his area is amazing. The mountains, the howling of the winds, breathtaking majestic nature. There is an art installation now, next to it, with a Smoking Flag, it was amazing to experience. Also ran into some pretty yellow spring flowers, outside, sage, and rock art by passers by. Loved it, gotta stop by for a minute, if you are not in a hurry
