You can get lost pretty easily. But the view is gorgeous.
This is a good start of a longer hike. High traffic which makes if a bit less desirable. If you are going to the skyline trail it is great and much better tha the museum trail it connects with.
Love coming with my bros here very nice
I loved it. It was an amazing experience
I LIKE THIS PLACE BECAUSE TO GET DOWN, ITS EASIER I JUST NEED TO FALL DOWN AND AND BECAUSE IM FAT, I START ROLLING
Well travelled. Not clearly marked all the time.
Diffilcult Trail by the Museom but if you go by Ramon St. its very easy to hiking its like tiu arecwalking hill on the street
Love it there. Will definitely go back
The views are amazing so peaceful and not overly populated.
The photo is from May, but hiking there is wonderful anytime. Its great to be in the wilderness and view the city below.
Love this trail. So convenient to downtown and all of the hotels. Love being able to walk to this trailhead from the hotel.
Great views of Palm Springs, good sturdy hiking shoes recommended.
Brother Trail had experienced substantial plant growth from the exceptional rains of 2019 it was beautiful. This however is a very aggressive Trail and should be rated for those hikers that are experienced with a severe vertical climb. Views are very spectacular!
Terrified. This neophyte found it exceptionally difficult to find the trail. This wasn’t for me even though the views were incredible.
Tough rocky hike up to viewpoints. Not extreme, but requires stamina and hiking experience. Take water and sun protection. Some small wildlife to be seen if you look closely. Nice views over the valley. Very close to downtown PS.
A very strenuous hike, especially on a hot day! Beautiful at the very top
North Lykken Trail November 2016 Man in Black
We meet as a group twice a month or so when the weather warms until its too too warm. A series of sunset hikes we look forward to yearly. The group (most) have been friends since high school, some being born and raised in the valley with wives and other lovelys being added along the way.
One of my favorite places to be first thing in the morning! This is a steep and strenuous trail that leads to outstanding views of Palm Springs. Just make sure you get here before it gets too warm. Once the sun is up there is VERY LITTLE shade.Nice folks on the trail, generally well behaved dogs as well.
Not particularly difficult, decent incline, great view of the city from the top but not very scenic along the way
Trail head from the Ramon Rd. Side. Went for a run in the rain. Moderate trail if goin to the benches. Get tougher if you decide and are prepared to do C2C. YouTube it! Not for the faint of heart.
I love to go up the mountain and check out the valley views below. Nice homes in the area if youre looking
Decided to go for a morning trail run while on vacation with my wife in Palm Springs. I wasnt sure which trail to hit, but decided on North Lykken and it was worth it. As a resident of Minnesota, I do have trail running options nearby, but with much less of a vertical climb. While North Lykken was much more vertical than I am used to running, it was certainly manageable. I usually run 20 miles per week with an emphasis on speed vs. mileage, so the endurance wasnt an issue. The only problem I had running the trail involved diverting my eyes from the trail to admire the view. It is tempting, but dont succumb as you may trip (lots of uneven rocks/ground). I went fairly early in the day (7:45 am on a Sunday morning) and was able to easily park off Ramon Rd. I encountered about a dozen others on the trail (and 2 dogs) who were all very polite and stepped to the side when they saw my approach so I could pass. I could see how the trail may get too crowded during peak times with hikers to have a decent run, but on a Sunday morning in early April it was perfect. I would highly recommed if you have some existing fitness level, a decent pair of trail running shoes, and want to see some great views of Palm Springs.
The North Lykken Trail will lead you about a mile and a half where you will find the picnic tables that are also accessible from the Museum Trail that leads from the Palm Springs Museum. This is a good place to stop and take a break, eat your lunch or some other snacks, and just sit there and enjoy the fantastic views of the Coachella Valley you have from the picnic tables.
Love this trail. Had a blast climbing the rocky trail to the top.
Great trail (just be careful in some spots) and amazing views.
This is a great trail to through hike across town. The north side is a bit steep, but that makes it a great starting point. Its just long enough for a before breakfast workout, or a late evening wind-down. The north side of the trail - north of the catus to clouds intersection - doesnt seem very well travelled, but it was still easy to find our way.
Great location to view Palm Springs
Very pretty hike with the view getting better and better as you ascend. The trail is poorly marked or not marked at all. Im a novice hiker so if you are more experienced you may discover agree. A good hike and one worth doing.
Bit of a steep hike, no amenities, but the view you can get is amazing.
A beautiful light rain pre dawn to start. We kept going, about 30 of us, for a total of 2.6 miles. Once we reached our turn around point, the sun was starting to break through the clouds. Easier to see on the way back. A awesome view of Palm Springs as he headed back to the trailhead.
The sheer rock surface is something to behold. 1.5 miles straight up, crazy views.
A hearty and wonderful climb; bring plenty of water and a hat. Winter months preferred of course! Good views as you get higher and higher.
It was a magical time
Amazing hike. Its a lot harder and steeper then you expect so make sure you bring extra water.
One of my favorite palm springs trail
Great little hike, gets the heart beating
Good quick up and back hike.
Good technical trail with a lot of vertical gain. Rigorous, but rewarding. Great views.
Rugged, views of Palm Springs, nice!
Good workout, not a lot to see until you get up high, then nice psp view. Lost the trail for awhile, my fault need to pay attention. Not marked though.
Very quiet, kept up well, and unexpected little nature hike on the outskirts of town.
Great views. Moderate hiking effort
Beautiful Scenery
Awesome trail even the color of the rocks are amazing like the mountain RedSpectacular views and few blocks from downtown Palm Springs
Great hike
Well maintained trail that provides a good workout and great views of the city.
I liked that the trail want intimidating and was gentle and gradual enough that my 2 year old daughter was able to climb with me. The scenery got a little boring as there wasnt much to look at.
Excellent Hike . Bring lots of water .
Theres a trail with rocks and dirt and plant life some lizards and occasional bird and great views
A definite challenge! Could use a little better trail marking.
The North Lykken Trail connects to Skyline and Museum trails. It isnt as steep as the Museum Trail so this is good place to start the Skyline.
Great trek!
So happy we went! The incline was a little steep at the beginning but it was worth it!
Didnt get the chance to explore the trails yet but I will be back!
Nice trail, but avoid parking right at trailhead because parking is scarce. I suggest parking on Belardo road and walking a few short blocks to the trailhead. Theres also been reports of car break ins at the trailhead.
Great place to hike
Long arduous trail if you choose to walk all 8 miles of it...i only did 1 mile...fantastic views of Palm springs and the valley...trail is free but make sure you are prepared for the temperature change...it could be 90f/33c in town but at the summit it will be 45f/8c...you ascend 9000 feet on this trail and there could be snow at the summit
Great hiking trail. Bring lots of water.
Nice views
Great hike
Great place to hike
It was a great and exhilarating workout the view is fantastic.
Favorite Hiking Trail
Great views of the mountains and desert.
Seems like a place that needs to be policed .I wouldnt say its all that safe with the criminal element that appears in the evening.and the type of people that cant read often frequents the area as Well.but for the most part during the daylight hrs I would recommend this trail up tell the sun gos down.
Live the trail hike.
