I love this hike. best one in ogden, and the only one in ogden Ive been to, fun fact. We went the waterfall canyon route. As far as reference to other hikes around here, I am among the worst to ask. But if High school english taught me anything, its if you know more about one side of an argument than the other, choose that side and disregard anything else. Waterfall is by far the best hike in ogden. Unlike other trails, it is a constant blast, going from rock to rock to the top of the trail. Very shaded for most of the hike, at the end of your refreshing endeavor you get to see something that is very rare in nature.WATER! But, whats even better is that the water is Falling! So you could say its a WATERFALL! Should you do this hike? Absolutely, you will not regret.... well you might, if you do dislike my post here. I like to see the impact I have on society.
Perfect in and out hike when your short on time. Views are great. It gets a tad busy but that never bothered me I kinda like the company.
This access gives you plenty of trail choices to Taylor canyon. You cangcan above the canyon, into the canyon, or check out the cool little pond nearby. There are chances to catch some shade along the way, which is welcome in the summer months. In spring you can enjoy the stream. Today I heard the plop plop sound of ripping acorns falling off the trees. It is often crowded on the trails, but people here are cool and know how to share the trail. Great views of the peaks near Snow Basin in the distance. If you like to climb, you will find many excellent boulders on the Northside entrance to the canyon (labeled as the School Room Climbing Access). Wildlife is abundant in the early morning.
I actually came here looking for a pubescent quail head to complete my collection but by the time I realized I had typed the search into google maps incorrectly I was delighted by my gaffe and already enjoying the scenery. I found the crickets to be especially on point tonight and there was a lady with a large unleashed dog who warned me: one wrong move and hell rip ya to shreds. No follow up. No reassuring chuckle. She just let that one hang there.
The beginning of a scenic ride of the wasatch front. I mean the mountains are right next to me I dont know why Im not up there every day because you go up a hundred feet and you can see the world its beautiful and the trails are good its just one way to get out of the hectic environment thats down below...
Not a super long hike, I would say its moderate but its pretty steep at the beginning. Once you hit about halfway and hit the tree line it becomes beautiful and I even found a wild cherry tree with fresh fruit growing on it! The waterfall at the top is breathtaking and worth the climb to see. 10/10 recommend this unassuming hike!
Great hike! Challenging. Starts with wide fairly step path, then midway more rocks and the last third...steeper and almost all rock climbing. The waterfall is beautiful. Relaxing and refreshing at the top! Personally, I highly recommend using a walking/ hiking stuc6k both up and down.
About 1.5 miles to the waterfall, rocky conditions most of the way but generally not too steep. Most of the trail has shade after the first 15 min. Probably best to go late spring or early summer to see a waterfall thats more impressive from glacier runoff. Or family really enjoyed it, and we have 5 and 3 yr olds
Took the kids up for a short Fall hike. It made me excited for the Winter. Waterfall canyon is always a rewarding hike, but when the waterfall freezes its even better (Im a little biased as a climber though).
The last third of this hike was really tough with a toddler in a carrier, scrambling up a steep grade and up slick rocks. But it was worth it! Unique large waterfall, with a small amount of water misting down mid-July. No pool at the bottom for swimming or wading. I’m a fast hiker and it took about 2 hours start to finish.
Beautiful, fun hike. The scenery is amazing. Very clean. Fun to watch fall colors.
Park here to do the Waterfall Canyon Hike! On a weekend theres always a ton of people doing this hike so if you dont feel like you know the way ask or follow them. But dont make it look like youre following them they might get creeped out. The waterfall is very photogenic at the right time of year so be prepared. May or the first half of June are the best times to go since later the water will be much less plentiful.
Wonderful hike. Fantastic trails and great views!
We were on vacation when some of the locals came by and told us about this place. They were not wrong at all. The hike was really long and strenuous but the waterfall at the end was breathtaking. If you get a chance you should definitely try this.
Free parking at a paved lot with public washrooms and a water fountain on site, good trails.
Really pretty well maintained trails a little busy on the weekends but worth it.
Excellent hike but my knees hurt for 3 days after. Certainly beautiful scenery.
Designated parking area for the trailhead restrooms and police cameras help keep your vehicle safe while on the trail
Nice short hike for elevated views and scenic mountain and river views. Good hike for kids 4+ but gets rocky and steep at the top with a beautiful waterfall finish. Recommended for family groups with active adventurous hikers.
Beautiful trail but not for the faint of heart. Worth the hike to the falls!
Awesome trail. We went a few time while we were in town. Wish it was marked better once you get up higher but it wasn’t bad. To reach the falls there is a sketchy section unless we went the wrong way. We went at sunset and it has really nice views and a great sunset. Take a lunch and don’t rush. Enjoy the time and know it’s a hike not a cute walk in the park.
2.4 mile hike I would say its intermediate but when you get to the top theres a very beautiful waterfall
Great hiking. Beautiful views! We hiked Waterfall Canyon. My only complaint is people need to clean up their do poop.
The city has done an excellent job establishing the trailheads with easy to follow signs.
The hike is beautiful but the waterfall was not as spectacular as everyone were talking about. I was expecting an actual waterfall not some splash of water falling off the rocks.Read some reviews saying that this a good family friendly hike, nope not at all. My 8 months pregnant wife, 2yrs old son and 4 yrs old daughter went on this hike and didn’t make it that far at all coz they were a bit tired. But then my friends and I went and finished off that hike about 1 month later and it was challenging. I cannot see a 8 pregnant woman, 2 yrs old to get up to the waterfall in that hike without getting injured. I would not take that risk.My 4 stars review is for how beautiful that hike is regardless of that stinky waterfall lolDefinitely not friendly for small little kids or a 7/8 pregnant woman
Love this view! Morning or night, my family and I come out often.
So BEAUTIFUL. We had a 3 year old and 6 year old so it was especially challenging for them, but even they managed it. The trail by the river and the waterfall and so heavenly.
Nice and relaxing after the first little bit, not crazy difficult but has its difficulties here and there.
We hiked up the trail as we pulled the invasive Dyers Woad. Beautiful day. The trail is moderate and crosses both state and private lands.
This was a fun trailhead that led to many other trails. Waterfall canyon tho was amazing family friendly and such a nice end result with the beautiful waterfall!!
Easy hike and with golf course view, trees and shrubs, so relaxing.
Nice hiking path. Well maintained.
Entrance to waterfall canyon. Signs are very easy to understand and follow.
Great trail except for first 300 feet of dog $h!t obstacle course.
Took shaded trails biking for Bonneville shoreline and you definitely need to be in shape!
200 ft waterfall 25 minute walk from the suburbs. Pretty cool.
It is a good hike well worth the trip if the water is flowing well! Wear shoes you can get wet in
A good hike...the closer to in shape the better you are.
A very easy and short hiking spot. Maybe an hour hike up and down if your a fast walker.
Great access to the waterfall canyon hike and plenty of parking. Also accesses the Bonneville shoreline trail. There are not any bathrooms, so plan on using one beforehand! Once you start hiking you go up the mountain and overlook mount Ogden golf course, the Ogden airport, and the Ogden temple. You can see everything from up the trail a little bit...it is just plain beautiful!
Too much dog poop, but great otherwise!
This was a hard hike for me! Uphill, the entire time BUT so worth it! I went Easter Sunday and the waterfall was flowing really good!
Short but steep! Shaded much of the way
Love this trailhead. Pretty popular and lots of foot traffic. People seem to be pretty respectful of it too. Great for kids and pets!
This was beautiful and fun for my sis and I ^-^
I love this hike, its beautiful and fun. I have done it twice now and I will again. I do think it would be hard for kids, but they could do it. Beautiful hike with a beautiful ending !
A perfect tail for almost everyone! Not too challenging but you know youre on a hike! Amazing mountain views overlooking the valley, a babbling brook pops up now then, some great rest spots... just an all around wonderful trail!
Pretty good trail for kids. We did have a scare from a snake however so be careful.
Perhaps the best hike in Northern Utah! Its not long, but pretty steep most of the way. Ok for kids... If they are troopers. Amazing waterfall and great view of the valley from the top and on the way up. Trails are pretty well fragmented and easy to find... Basically, just keep going up. A lot of parking at the trailhead, but can get busy because its popular.
For an out of shape, low-altitude flatlander, the trail challenged me. But the challenge, and the views are worth it
Very scenic and breath taking view
Its all within reach! Easiest access to Waterfall canyon.
The hike is a bit rough but there is a beautiful view at the top of the mountain. So worth it
Great hike, love the waterfall, love the views, love the greenery
Excellent! Very fun to go see the falls. Its about 2 hours round trip.
Easy little hike to the waterfall. Worth the trip to the top.
Nice place for family walk.
A great place to ride your bike or go for a hike!
Fantastic views!
The waterfall canyon hike is always a treat. Also, the Bonneville Shoreline trail is great for mountain biking.
It was a great hike beautiful waterfall.
This trailhead is a hub for many adventures! Bonneville Shoreline Trail, Taylor Canyon, Waterfall Canyon, and more. There are hikes available for all levels, and you can go as fast as 30 minutes, or make it an overnight backpacking adventure
I do this hike several times a year and its very enjoyable
Nice trail, good views of the valley, good amount of shade except for the first about 5 - 10 minutes, nice waterfall
Good hike, steep near the end. Kiddos did well, just needed to be carried a few times due to all the rocks.
Good hike, stunning view of the waterfall when you get to the top, worth the Hike!
One of my favorite spots. So many options of trails here. So beautiful. Forageable plants too!
Beautiful views and a well kept trailhead
Kids did fine.
Nice hike, bring water and comfy shoes with good grip!
The water is so cold, so invigorating after a hike to the top.
This is a good hike, lots of scrambling once you get closer to the waterfall but not too bad. Having my 2 year old on my back made it a hair slower hike but really fun getting up there to the waterfall.
This was worth the climb. Absolutely stunning and the view was breathtaking
Bit of a hike but the veiws were worth it!
Its not a hard hike, and you get a great view
So beautiful!! Definitely worth the hike
So many great hikes can be reached from this trailhead!
Shoreline trail in Ogden is a fantastic trail system. Any trailhead is a good choice. 29th has 2 trails leading up to shoreline and to waterfall canyon. People are awesome here, keep the trail clean
Amazing mid level trail
Great location! They recently just paved the parking lot and there is a great amount of parking now. Seems to be always people there so its not just me that thinks its a great place to start a hike.
Its a moderate hike that I enjoy walking and running to get my heart rate up. Many different trail options.
The waterfall at the end explains all of the love! The trail is a little steep and rocky, but my young children made it at 5 and 7 years old with no issues.
Great hikes for family and kids of all ages
Great waterfall at the end. its around 2.5 miles round trip. Sunny for the first half and shaded and steep for the second half. My 4 year old hiked it, but we go out quite a bit. It was pretty hot on a Saturday afternoon (4:30) at the end of June but we brought a lot of water. The mist at the end of the water fall feels great. There is a bathroom in the parking lot at the trail head. To get to the waterfall we took the Bonneville Shoreline Trail.
Good hike.
Great place to hike. There are several trails at the top of 29th st. Some are easy some are a little harder but all of them are beautiful and dog friendly. There is usually plenty of parking and there are bathrooms with flushable toilets at the trail head.
