Lake Merritt, truly one Oaklands hidden jewels. We love our lake and its flurry of bird life. Always picturesque and a true gathering point. Sit and bask in the great weather, walk around its 3+miles, wait long enough and youll definitely run into someone you know or someone who knows you.

Great place to sit after eating at the taco truck thats parked near by.

A fabulous place to go with your family to walk or get exercise. Take your girl in the evening string of lights around the lake very romantic if youre that kind of guy. Or if you just are very visual visual person. Its just nice. Its just its calming. Its peaceful. Definitely go to Lake Merritt at night.

Great views of the lake, theres always locals playing music and Bbqqing. By far one of my favorite spots around the lake!

You cant smell the lake, but you can definitely smell the toilets. Grossest bathrooms you can imagine with a door that does not lock. Goose poop covers the hill, and needles are tucked nicely into the roots of the trees. But at least theres shade. And you have a nice view.

Lake Merritt centered downtown Oakland has plenty walking paths circumnavigating the lake. Popular for joggers and those on a scenic stroll. Just watch out for the rats.

This place is very very nice. I spent about an hour theyre walking around in the afternoon a while back. I found the views to be exceptional. Its a good place to walk, people watch, have a quick lunch. Or just about anything that you would like to do. Fortunately I was able to park very close to where I wanted to go. And it was not that crowded on the day that I went. I would go back.

Best place to go with kids and families of all ages. Super fun. Great few hours to go and have fun. Its a great way to remember your youth as an adult.

Views of the lake are lovely. Plenty of shady and sunny places to rest and relax. Beware the restrooms, they are disgusting. Better to walk over to the boat rental house and use those.

You can go here when its sunny or rainy Moody blues friendly people nice recent war atmosphere every time is a good time brings me back and the same to you kayaking boating biking dog walking picnicking blanket food restaurant high-rise buildings nearby gas stations and amenities otherwise known as the center Oakland California beautiful place to be.

Basically a grassy knoll with decent views and a few benches. The restroom building seems to be permanently locked.

Nice open by the lake, on a hill. The Smoothie Operator food truck is here Thursday Fridays and Sundays.

I passed this place doing my daily walk around the Lake theres always a few groups of cool people sitting on the grassy knoll, people watching, each-other watching and just kicking-on back - in the leisurely Oakland style that keeps us here.

Actually we just worked here today.

A little rough around the edges but there is more space and less of a crowd than the lakeside grass near Brooklyn and Lakeshore. Great views of the Oakland skyline.
