This is a really nice path along the shore line. There are a lot of little park like areas with benches and BBQs for an outing and a great walking/running/biking path. I was able to see SFO and San Francisco across the water, very nice. Glad I was able to have such a nice place to exercise while stopped in Oakland for a few hours. There is parking along the path. I began at tidewater boating center. There is a lot of wild growing anise that smells a bit like black licorice after a gentle rain, as well as the purifying scent of eucalyptus trees, great views of the water. Highly recommend.

Love this walk! The trail is well maintained . We bring bags to pick up trash that unconscious people leave. Dogs on leash, but there are areas that you can see both ways for a good distance and let them run if they have good recall. SIP has the parking lots closed so we walk in. Love it. Great views.

If youre looking to get to a quiet place, beautiful with a mix of species of birds this is place. Great for walking, bird watching, and fishing! This area has become a place of solace for me, allowing time to unwind and reflect as I take in the majestic views.Clean fresh air abounds as the autos are kept at bay freeing you up from their loud incessant engine noise, and pollutants the like. What a wonderful trail to explore, easily accessible with sparce few joggers but friendly people saying good day as we cross paths.Great for educators of young minds when teaching about marsh land habitat and its importance and impact on the surrounding ecosystems.I so enjoy Martin Luther King trail and I believe you will as well. Please explore!

Another hidden gem in the East Bay. Located near the Oakland airport, this nature preserve offers great viewing of migratory birds, as well as yearly residents. If you are lucky, you might even spot a Ridgways rail! The pathways are all tarmac, so it is great for folks with mobility issues. There is a lot of parking, as well, and well maintained bathrooms.

Plenty of easy access parking, alongside the estuary. You can watch kayaking and canoeing from a comfortable grassy area, equipped with a picnic table and a grill for cooking burgers, chicken and franks, and more. Be sure to use an actual address as there are many entrances. The one described in this review is 7250 Doolittle, in Oakland.

I commute through here several times a week, generally about 7 AM, 9PM, or 1AM (depends on my work shift). I see skunks, egrets, blue herons, ground squirrels, fairy rings, Kingfishers, mushrooms; and, rarely, owls, otters, and sharks. So, I love it!

I was hurry and stop to get something to eat but wanted to be outside and it was to early for work. I pass by this small park all the time by the water and its always active. The spot is open to the main street and designed for passing drivers. Safety could tell because I stayed in car and blasted by diversfied music station. Notice their wasnt a fowl order that goes with lakes during temperatures of mild to hot climates. It was clear for you to see as far as the top of the Oakland dry land and hills (fires). Not wanting to over due my welcome I proceeded slowly out a spiked entrance to avoid any damage to my tires to work. As a female safety in public parks is paramount.

I work nearby so steal an hour when I can to go out for a walk here n the coast line. It provides the perfect scenery for a little escape from work and blasting air conditioning to visit the variety of critters (squirrels, bunnies and lizards) as well as a myriad of birds. Its very quiet and clean and well maintained. I bring my kids here to ride bikes along the miles and miles on paved pathway when I have time as well. Nice place. Im here at least 4 days a week.

We come here often. It’s a great place to walk and always loaded with birds. A spotting scope is helpful to really see all the birds in the distance on the water. But there are plenty of birds up close. Look for burrowing owls on the mounds as you drive in. You may hear or see ridgeways rails out in the master as well.

Good trail for dog walking or getting some fresh air and exercise. Its right on the water, but unfortunately the shoreline is clogged with trash. There are a fair amount of homeless people living in the bushes along the trail so sometimes it gets a bit stinky but they keep to themselves and rarely bother anyone.

The Martin Luther King Jr. Regional Shoreline park is, in my opinion, a hidden gem for the City of Oakland.Did you know that there is a multi-use path (bicycles and pedestrians) that winds for 3.7 miles along the shoreline with any interrupting roads? Even my home city of Richmond, with the longest completed sections of the San Francisco Bay Trail of ANY city around the bay cant claim that long an uninterrupted shoreline trail! And its empty!! Are you tired of the Bay Trail in Emeryville through Richmond? Yes, that section is lovely, but that section is also CROWDED.I enthusiastically recommend this park if you like to walk or bike along the shore, with wildlife viewing, interpretive displays, and most of all - peace and uncrowded quiet - all within the City of Oakland!
