One of the best places Ive visited and enjoyed to watch the sunset
With a lot of hoteles sleeping on grass!
Good food joint but not enough parking spot.
Hoping this is the first of many statues that shows the many faces of Newark because this statue represents the faces of Ferry Street known as the ironbound section. Hoping for more parks to show multiple visions of the dreams NEWARK started as a stepping stone for so many of its people!
Landscaping and scenery breathtaking.. and tons of extra hot real woman
A place to meet w Your friends Great Place
This used to be just a regular park. Some homeless folks milling about; but hey, that’s the country we live in . No use pretending it’s not a problem. The veterans memorial was not well thought out, the design creates a secluded area that the above mentioned homeless folks will inevitably use as a toilet. The monument to immigrants is frankly an eyesore. The poem by the local councilman just adds insult to injury.
Passing by decent place had to stop
This is a very tiny park. This is not the usual a park to relax in with your kid and pets. So dont expect any monkey swings or a bike path or walk your dog on a trail. Its no hangout spot for park enthusiasts of the norm. For that I suggest Riverside mark down Market St. instead.Rather instead this little park is a modest tribute to the heritage of the Portuguese community here in Newarks Ironbound.Youll see a few monumemts here. One is for the important but forgotten hero of the American Revolutionary war for whom the park is named after. Hes not taught about at all in schools despite his shared history with George Washington and the rest of the founding fathers. We really should read more on this guy, his life was as large as his massive size. There are two more monuments, one for the immigrants who have come to the United States and is the hallmark of the Iron Bound. The other is more of an avant garde art. This is all worth a look provided you can squeeze in through the hectic Newark traffic near Penn Station.
Stone statues realy great piece of art.
Humorous people when out there helping people to serve them food & help them in the Mighty name of Jesus!
Need proper maintainance!
Cool spot to check out.
I loved it
The park looks nice since being redone but what kills it is the homeless and drug addicts leaving it filthy.
MORE like a monument, than a park. TOO many homeless in the Park area.
Site of the histirical marker erected by the Portuguese American community in honor of Peter Francisco, a Revolutionary War hero. A favorite hangout for drug addicts from Newark Penn Station across the street. On Fridays, area churches provide food and outreach to the homeless population. Anyone can get a free meal.
Bad place... dirty.. not sure why that Park exists
The new water fountain has become a public bath house for homeless people. This park is disgusting.
Great place
Good community park, well kept, and good atmosphere.
Great portuguese festival, food and drinks and music
Is dirty full of garage, scary place to be at night
Wish they fix the broken a statues soon
Nice park
Its ok
You see many homeless, many people and organizations helping the homeless. No, it doesnt feel unsafe.
Good place to kill time
Serving our neighbors without addresses
Homeless all over
Lovely place to chill.
Nice park
Full of homeless people always littered
When I pick people up from Newark Penn Station, I usually meet them here to avoid the traffic at the station exits.
