Getting back to quad roller skating skating so I visited Branch Brooks tennis courts. Very smooth surface. And I had an enjoyable time. The courts are well lit and very clean. Id visit again.
In the summer the trees, flowers and especially the Cherry blossom trees. Great smell beautiful colors. Big and different sections for the children and adults to play and exercise. Pretty clean. Love it!
Branch Brook Park is famous for its magnificent Cherry Blossom in Spring and we were impressed when we visited last March. The parking would be really difficult to find during cherry blossom season so we highly recommend to visit early to beat the crowd. The park is not huge but delicate and well planned. The trial was wide and flat so it is also great for babies in strollers or elders. However, some of the trials were muddy so it won’t be a perfect time to visit after a rainy day.
Quiet, calm and serene. Trees that serves as shade from sunlight. Take a walk on the circular sidewalk, or run amidst the trees-generated breeze.Take a picture, one with the background of green, or with the white tiger-like statue. But lastly and importantly, the bathroom. Their bathroom is the cleanest public bathroom I have ever entered(Hands down). Enjoy.
Great park for riding bikes or running/walking. Lots of winding trails into some scenic areas. Even thou there is a little trash due to people not picking up after themselves, you could see the love an care that the ground keepers put into taking care of this park. The bathrooms are the best public bathrooms Ive seen so far roomy, bright, and no smell of urine lol.
Definitely different cause of covid, but kids still had a blast! No cafe only vending machines, and strict time limit. Enforcement of mask for protection. Very good time. They cleaned up and wiped down very frequently.
Great turf baseball fields. Very limited parking lot. Saw a drug deal while trying to find street parking, which I couldnt find.
The oldest county park in the country designed by the Olmsted Bros (yes, the same guys that designed Central Park) Nooks and crannies, pathway, excersize stations, running, biking, fishing. This park is photogenic all fours seasons. Its home to the historic Cherry Bloosom Festival and garden to our Basilica Cathedral of the Sacred Heart.
I Love this place!!Museums, Japanese Tea Garden, Botanical Gardens, Bike Trails, Lake...what more could you ask for in a park!!Wish I lived up here to do spring/summer picnics!Beautiful day with family!
Best known for all their Cherry Blossom Trees. Truly a beautiful site when in Bloom .
I went to take my dog to the dog park and I will never take her there again. You have people who are so rude and all they want to do is let their dog do as it pleases. No consideration for others
Its absolutely beautiful. From the glistening water to the carefully sculpted statues and monuments, its just an overall breath of fresh air compared to the rest of the town. The only problem that stopped me from giving it 5 stars was the amount of bird poop everywhere and the pollution in the water. There were places that I disnt even wanna step because I didnt wanna get all that bird poop onto my shoes. But if you can look past that, this is an absolutely wonderful place to go, I highly recommend it.
Its nice for photography. Veri big and has numerous and different spots. My favoritenone is the lions part! Its never crowded.
Really nice to walk, run, exercise, hang out, have a picnic its just really dirty in terms of the pond water and goose poop. Its such a great park though I really love it here I eat lunch with my dad here all the time
Giant park, good place for friends and family to congregate, also good for walking jogging or bike riding.
I really liked this park. The paved walkway around the water is relaxing. There park itself is clean with plenty of parking. This is also a covid testing site.
Newarks Sheriff department keeps you feeling safe it is a very beautiful and lovely place to catch your Zen
Nice local park. Bigger than I expected. Clean. Lots of walking trails and cute little clearance to have a picnic or sit in the sun. Some history to explored there as well. Been going here about 3 times a month on average for 2 years and havent gotten bored yet! Still areas to explore. Is really quiet and tranquil. Ne careful after dark, just like in any park!
Fun place, areas for jogging or walking the dog or just enjoying the outdoors. Some areas are better maintained than others. Dont let the dog drink from the lake but it looks pretty
Great place to walk and have some fresh air.
Amazing place for engagement photos when the Cherry Blossoms are in bloom!!
It was a nice setting for a babyshower drive by. Open space and during this time the people do wear mask as they walk around.
Beautiful park..with nice walking trail..tennis courts basketball court.. relaxing pond to walk around..just a all out nice place to visit
Great landscape and walk ways.. Nice ambience and beautifully maintained. Such a positive vibe from this place.
Nice big park. Running track is well maintained. Clean and prestine place for walk.
Branch brook park newark njBeautifull large park with bridges, ballfields. Very nice place to go and have a picnic or have a date have a nice romantic walk also very beautiful extremely beautiful place to visit in the fall and also in the spring when the cherry blossom trees are blossoming.
Great place to see cherry blossoms! Beautiful colors of pink and white. It was a busy weekend during full bloom- street parking was well organized by the traffic cops. Crowds, performances, food stalls, and ice cream trucks were also around the place. Tents with seating and tables were helpful. Open playgrounds in between for the kids too.
I love the scenery: so many squirrels and birds to see.The grass is clean and is perfect for picnics or just to lay around in the sun—many trees to relax and sit. There are also trails to walk around the entire park. Great for jogging. There are some exercise stations for those who might want to work out.
Nice park to go walk, jog, bike, or sit a relax and take it some nature by one of the many lakes. Park is safe and patrolled routinely by the sheriffs department
Love this park! You can take long walks or runs here. There’s plenty of parking and Cherry blossoms season it’s the best!!
This park is very large and very beautiful. I go here to ride my bike. During cherry blossom season its even more lovely. Lot of cherry blossoms of different colors. They even have a festival here. Lots of people come just to take pictures.
Great location to do just about anything. Especially during the bloom. Everywhere you look everywhere you see there is beautiful trees and cherry blossoms. Its a great place to see different dog if you are a dog lover. It is a great place to fish if you are a fishing type of person. A lot of ice cream trucks. Some hotdog trucks too
Took Me and my Girlfriend and out dog here. Such a Beautiful spot to hang out and enjoy the day. So much open space to relax with the family and walk around.!
Cherry blossoms were out at their peak when we visited. Fredrick Law Olmsted, however, might be quite disappointed with how this gem of a park that his firm designed is now maintained. For one, Id like to see a lot more effort into restoring the grounds to their former glory. Great efforts were made around the south entrance to the park...but many other areas were in need of work.
My backyard so to speak. Living in apartment, I do not have one, but just a few blocks away is this park I spend at least once a week in. Yoga, walking and exploring are just some of favorite activities there.
Great park mixed with running tracks, soccer fields, dog park, tennis courts, and much more. Lots of parking available.
Very beautiful and Serene, worth going to with family or alone to relax/play
A really nice park. I went in July, a week after the 4th, and people were still igniting fireworks. It is a nice and lovely park. I only ran into one inebriated guy at 5pm, not bad. One path was 90% blocked by a tree. Most other paths are rather poorly maintained. Otherwise a great place to exercise and see lots and lots of green.
Love this park nice for running and right next to cherry blossom park so nice .
Really good park to be with the kids
About Branch Brook Park I learned from media which said that a great number of sakura trees are situated there and ready to blossom. It is a very nice park with a lake with lots of cherry trees. It was really beautiful. Territory is very clean and well kepped.
Nice park and really beautiful during the summer. Alot of mosquitos though and a new dog park added. Come check it out
Several walking paths including a ~2 mile loop with rubberized surface. Several work out areas are spread around this path. Several baseball fields, a soccer field, and large grassy areas. Will be wet and muddy in places after rain. Beautiful cherry blossoms during the spring.
Gorgeous park! And Ill be sure to return in a few weeks for the cherry blossoms, as Ive heard its quite a sight to behold! So much to see and do in this enormous park. 360 acres or so? Wow!
Nice place to take the pooch and everyone got along! Dont forget your masks!
I very good park. Took my son to ride his bike and we stayed out for 4 hours exploring the place. Me and family will keep visiting the place now the then. I recommend all to make us of this wonderful place
We stopped to find a geocache quickly. The lake is beautiful and there is also a roller skating rink. Apparently they have publuc concerts here too. Nice surprise in an urban area.
Experience best spring colors in NJ area. Lovely lake view with loads of variety of flowers during spring. No need to go to DC to enjoy cherry blossom. Closer to Rutgers university.
BRANCH BROOK IS BY FAR ONE OF THE BEST PARKS I HAVE EVER VISITED. THE VIEW I SO LOVELY ESPECIALLY DURING THE SPRING TIME AND THE CHERRY BLOSSOMS BEGIN TO BLOOM. THE PARK HAS MANY INTERESTING LOCATIONS AND SOME TIMES NEW LIL ANIMALS POP UP WHICH ADDS TO THE ATMOSPHERE OF THIS PARK
One of my favorite parks in New Jersey. Enjoy one of the largest Cherry Blossom Festivals in the spring, fishing in one of its many ponds, or go for a run/walk/cycle along it paths. Theres also a roller rink in the park near the cathedral.
Great quiet park with good parking. Lovely place to hang out with friends and family.
Good place but its missing somethingBut Im not what its missing
One could spend a week in this park and still not see every nook and cranny. Trees abound with plenty of shade to enjoy a nice breeze. Plenty of benches on the various paths. People are friendly. The park is clean.
Great place for walking and running. However, the parks ponds need to be free of man-made objects such as cans, plastic gloves, and other obstructions. On another note, cleaning up after your pets should be mandatory. On the path, I noticed more dog escriment on the ground. Pick up after your pets.
I live not to far from the park. The Sheriff dept patrol that park day and night. There is beautiful greenery to have pick nicks. Its also a great date spot and great for working out.
Its well kept, pice always arouns. Just sering the dog park is a plus snd looki g at the dogs just runni g. Plainh wit othets is a plus. Then yoy have people enjoying their sport
What a wonderful way to spend a nice walk, beautiful, well kept grounds. Ideal for a quick get away from the strange world of these times. ENJOY!
Always an enjoyable walking experience no matter which section I chose to walk.
Beautiful cherry blossoms in clusters around several locations in the park. We went today April 22 2018, the white ones are in full bloom now, some pink ones are gone or still in bud. Roadside parking along the park drive is generally easy to find within walking distance to the lake and cherry trees except the busiest section in the park.
Great place for picnic and family gatherings. Also exercising and relaxing
A very clean, tranquil and wonderful place to hang out with your family and love ones. You can do all your exercises from walking and running to biking. Catch a glimpse of Gooses, squirrels groundhog and dears in action. Fish lovers can do their fishing in a lake that stretches across the entire park.
Nice park nice cushy jogging path or you can take the streets. Or take one of the other trails thru the park.
A well spaced out, well groomed park, great for the a stroll or the brisk run. The Cherry blossom trees are quite impressive as you can see. Dont forget about the outdoor events too!
I love to come here every year for the cherry blossom but due to the covid-19 it was cancelled
This is a beautiful park with jogging track. It is peaceful and neatly maintained. There are playing grounds and the place is accessible via bus and light rail. There is parking available and the park is patrolled well to make it safe and secure for the visitors.
Best place too enjoy Cherry Blossoms. Make sure you visiting right time of the year.
One of 20+ Olmsted parks in Essex County.
We have always enjoyed this park as it is very diverse. There is a big park that is gated for kids, pathways you walk along, and a pond where you can rent paddle boats. A little bit for everyone!
Park is spread over has good trails and play ground on the center of the park with some parking spaces. Park is continually monitored and very safe place to be. Has baseball play grounds for kids. Wonder cherry blossoms.. Not that much compare to nationwide. But its bit overrated.
Playground area i was in was very clean and kid friendly.
Great photography assignment! Lots of places to take engagement photos!
360 Acre Park located within the City of Newark and the Township of Belleville, NJ. Redesigned in 1900 by the Landscape Architectural firm of the Olmstead Brothers (sons of Fredrick Law Olmstead (Landscape Architect who designed Central Park)) and is considered to be the oldest County Park in the United States. The park boasts plenty of walking trails, waterways and a amazing collection of flowering cherry trees.
Beautiful cherry blossoms in spring. The park has definitely been looking nicer and cared for over the years. Im looking forward to the improvements Ive seen started.
Great place for a nice walk in a beautiful & quiet park !! The cherry blossoms are absolutely stunning this time of year! They all haven’t bloomed yet but in a couple weeks they will be thriving. Leashed dog friendly park ! Lots of trails to walk down, bridges && spots to sit and relax or play ball !!
Beautiful park. Great place to take photos or just relax with the family. Rest room facilities are manned by staff and very clean.
Beautiful park with a big walking track around the lake. Wonderful during cherry blossom season. We went at peak bloom and really enjoyed it. Free and better than going to DC if you just want to see and enjoy the blooms and not really looking to photograph them against the DC monuments.
Nice friendly clean they even had bags to pick up very nice
One of my favorite parks. It’s very spacious and clean
Ive lived in this area for over 50 years and have never seen the beauty of the Cherry Blossoms in Branch Brook Park until this past weekend. There was a full gathering of a very diversified crowd enjoy the beauty of this park. Many families taking photos, enjoying picnics, and seeing what the festival organizers had for entertainment and food. I believe there was a fish derby earlier and saw one guy with 3 trout on a stringer. Parking is crazy so practice your parallel parking and good driving ediquet.
I very nice park. Took my son to ride his bike and we stayed out for 2 hours exploring the place. Will be back every week to enjoy the place.
Very nice park, but it is not quiet at all. Usually, the park is swarmed with visitors. Very peaceful. But I wish it wasn’t so busy. The park has a lot of greenery to offer with running trails, but most of the time people are walking on the trials so you have to be careful where you run. Dog park onsite as well.
Wonderful setting in the midst of Newark, NJ. Be sure to check out cherry blossoms in spring! Great family area.
This is an amazing place to bring your dog, everything is clean and the people are very friendly.
The park itself isnt too too big and honestly Ive only been there when cherry blossoms were out so I cant say much, but it was nice. It was just a little too crowded but it was that season of the year so I cant complain. I feel like the park itself is not big enough to hold all the visitors though. And when it gets busy, its hard to find parking spots, so just be aware of that.
It is a nice place to see the cherry blossom and it is not too crowded.
Great view of the lake and the trees around. I enjoyed the cherry blossom a lot. I would recommend this place for kids and couples. It would be great if they start boat rides on the lake. Good place to spend the weekend.
Excellent option to enjoy Cherry blossom for NJ resident if they dont want to travel to DC. Extremely scenic, check out my photos.
Great place to spend the day! You can run/walk/bike. Plenty of space and tons of cherry blossoms when theyre in season.
This park is to big for my taste. I could get lost in there. It is beautiful during the summer it is a nice place to go for a summer date or if they had a concert or movie in the park night. That would be cool.
Beautiful clean great environment Beautiful place to relax take pictures and enjoy nature .
Always fun to get the kids out go fishing take a nice walk and just enjoy yourself
Absolutely gorgeous. The tennis courts are abundant, the cherry blossoms brought life to the park, open areas for play and picnics. You can easily spend the day as a couple, with the kids or alone.
Took the little ones fishing, easy to cast a line for a little while and it is a beautiful park.
Was here to attend the Essex County Cherry Blossom Festival. Though it was very cold/windy this time but the view of the cherry blossom trees made up for it. A well maintained park with ample parking, clean restrooms and lots of pink and white cherry blossom trees and plenty of spots to get your own moment/photos with them.. in some spots there were cherry blossom white and pink petals on the ground under the cherry blossom trees making it look like a blanket and giving it a fairy tale look and feel. Great alternate for those who cannot make it or want to avoid Washington DC trip for cherry blossom. You wont be disappointed.
Absolutely beautiful cherry blossoms at its peak. Its worth the challenge of finding a parking spot. The best place is the west side of the pond where you can see the magnificent Cathedral of Sacred Heart of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Newark.
