I love this place. Probably my favorite lake area near Nashville so far. Water always feels great, plenty of shore to walk if you want to get your own space. Woods are nice too, enjoy walking through them. People seem to do a good job of cleaning after themselves which is nice. Overall a great place to spend the day with family or friends.

Some wonderful trails and scenery are waiting for you here. Just be careful and stay on the trails, because some of the woods can be quite overgrown.**My son and I came here to find a Geocache, and most of our trek was through the overgrown areas. Im sure if we had started on a trail we would have been fine, but at least I learned that my son only likes the forest when there is a trail.

I visited with place with my brother while looking for housing in the area. We loved this space so much that he is dead set on buying in the area so that he can use it onna regular basis. It is just $5 to park for a day and there is and endless amount of fun to be had here near the lake. It does get a bit crowded, which can be uncomfortable especially during this pandemic which is why I dropped one star. Otherwise, super fun and am excited to play here with my family in the future!

This place is terrible, you should never come here!JK....its wonderful. Not crowded on weekdays at least. Its a great place to take your kids to get them out of the house and let them play and have lunch. It also has a boat ramp, plenty of parking, and a fishing pond.No bathroom, so make sure you go before you come. And make sure to bring a bag to take your trash with you too.Its a lovely quiet place. So like ...dont come all at once guys!

Love being able to sit on the rock wall so I can just turn my head to watch him in the water or at the playground. Shout out to the little fish that helped me out with some dead skin on my heels. Lol very relaxing in the warm water with little aquatic pedicurists tickle my feet, feeling the warmth of the sun on my face, and listening to the calming waves.

Great place for a get together with friends and family and kids. Wow its beautiful and theres a lot of area to use, there were only two sheltered areas to use. The fact that you have to pay $5 to park sucks as well. I guess they have to make money for the upkeep somehow. I would definitely go back here again for a get together.

The beach and playground are great and clean. But for some reason every time we go there is a new rule or such. It changes constantly! We have put our kayak in many times and then walked over to the beach but yesterday was told absolutely NO. And supposedly that had been the rule for 5 years. So not sure why last summer us and our friends all kayaked 4 different times and never had a problem. Also it does NOT close at 7 like the site says. The beach closes at 6:30 and you gotta be out by 6:45 .

This place is beautiful! The pavilion acts as a breezeway, so that even though it was 90°+, it felt cool, and was a very comfortable place for our group to enjoy ourselves. The views from the pavilion are stunning, giving the whole scene a very peaceful experience. NOTE: if you want the pavilion, you will need to get someone there very early to stake a claim. Its first come first served. We had someone there at 6 a.m.

Children, children, everywhere! If you like family / kid friendly public use areas, this one is pretty decent. Good access to a beautiful lake, and if you know where to go, there are quieter areas for a more relaxed experience. The parking attendants, in my experience, are either over-zealous or lazy, as we got shunted off to the overflow area after paying our $5 when we could see parking spaces available in the main area.

Cook public use area is one of my favorite spots to visit early on a nice weekend day before it gets busy. It is typically quiet and peaceful before 8:00 in the morning on the weekends. There is a small beach area with sand, it does however get rocky near the waters edge, so plan accordingly. There is a charge per carload for access, or you can buy a yearly pass that gets you into all Army Corps Of Engineers recreation areas. There are also shelters, picnic areas/tables, grilles, playground equipment, a boat ramp, and public restrooms available.

Suprisingly awesome park. Went there because it was close to my house in May. Lovely scenery and tight trail. Several picnic benches and grills.Old man that runs the park seemed incredibly sweet and nice when I answered him with sir as you should. He informed me that the park would close in 45 minutes. Which was fine by me. The problem was every 10 minutes after that he would come by and his golf cart and remind me of the time. This distracted me from the enjoyment, excitement, and peace provided by nature – which was the entire reason I was going to the park after working several 18 hour days.I have previously worked as a park ranger and was going to ask the sweet old man if I could volunteer here to help clean up trash and other mismanaged items - having recently relocated to Nashville. After the encounters, I have since rethought my opinion. In my opinion its clear the old man has just had a tough life and likely been through at least one war. Either way the vibe he gives off is distracting and detracts from my experience as a park guest.

Theres a sand beach for the swimmers and public grills next to picnic tables. Is the sand as white as the beaches of the redneck rivieras, nope. However, Ive seen smaller waves on the beaches of the Gulf Coast than the wakes that are created from the boats at the lake here.Bring youre bathing suits, charcoal and $5 to park. Oh, and dont drive on the grass or the ranger will scold you!
