This is a well-kept, clean and peaceful area to walk or run on. The lake is ideal for canoeing and fishing. Theres a dog park and further along the lake, a pathway and small bridge leading to hidden lakes trout farm. There are no shaded area save for the two picnic shelters, one close to the dog park and other is next to the lake. You can spot some water fowls such as ducks, geese or an occasional egret along the lake.
Great for an easy bike ride or walk. If you want to fish, seems best you have a boat or kayak to get out into the lake. Lots of weeds In the water along the bank to get your bait / lure snagged unless you are fishing off the pier which can get a bit crowded at times.
Lovely lake. It has a bike/ walk path, landing for boats and and kayak ing in the lake. It has a bike / walk path looping the lake and also many trails which go away from lake - which I havent yet tried. Could see lot of cranes, ducks, geese. We rented kayak from naperville kayak - they had setup a tent right beside the lake .
Nice paved walking/bike trail around lake. A nice variety of birds Egrets, Herons, hawks, and eagles to see at the park.
Lovely area, boat launch, walking/biking or going for a run has good trails!
Nice picnic place with family good outing for couple of hours. Very good for exercise.
Love going here to rent fishing and Kayak boats. Also a great swimming location. Clean quiet and peaceful.
Very nice lake. Enjoy walking and kayaking. Nice day at the lake
Just astonishing...! So much beauty and solitude. We will visit over and over again.
Our family had a very nice walk. Everything was welled maintained, people were fishing, at the ball park there was a game going on, some had golf clubs. Many bikers and runners. Great time
This park has it all. Dog park, lake, and great trails!
Great place to walk, bike, play w your dog, kayak, fish, or go boating w an electric trolling motor. Can get pretty busy on nice days.
For me it is the best place to go kayak.
First nice weekend of the lockdown. Lots of walkers and bikers. In addition to all the wildlife makes for a perfect outing.
Great place for running, biking, walking, and fishing (if you dont mind all the seaweed/algae along the shoreline).
Great lake to learn how to kayak, which I brought 1st timer here to learn. Launch is paved cement, with not bad of a slope. I wish there was more grass around the launch to rest your kayak down while you are prepping it. Water was surprisingly clear. Some waterfowl to look at. Plenty of parking, for all vehicles. Even long trailer spots. It was a good day on the water. There is no ADA compliant EZ Dock at this launch.
Very clean and dog friendly
Kayaking on Whalon Lake was nice, easy, and relaxing! Great bike paths here too.
Dog park nearby, nice scenery for picnics, good trails for biking or roller blading or riding.
I dont remember being here?
Nice area but what i dont like is they closing at 6pm and this is to early
I like this park with a relatively large lake. The lake used to be a quarry and is sufficiently large to not be boring in a kayak, and the island on the center make for a good destination. I also enjoy riding my bike around the lake on a well build two lane path that leads all the way to Koch Knolle Park on one end and route 53 on the other. They recently build a new trail that I yet have to explore. The area also features a dog park and opportunities to observe water fowl.
Fresh air, sunshine, kayaks bikes walkers free parking restrooms and friendly people . . . .
Nice facilities and features.
Nice to kayak on. Relaxing.
Lots of fun kayaking today.
Really good bike trail here the bike trail was about 12 miles but it was very scenic and a smooth lathe made from concrete. The lake is also a very good fighting spot and I caught many fish and some bass.
How can there really be anything wrong with a beautiful Lake in a forest preserve?! The only thing I could have wished for is catching more than one extremely small blue gill.We have had the opportunity to take my sons little Sun Dolphin 12 boat around the Lake early evening recently. The weather was overcast so we were hoping for some good fishing but with the temperature changing back-and-forth so quickly that may have been one of the issues. The area around the Lake seemed pretty free and clear of rubbish. It was so nice to enjoy herons, egrets and other various ducks around the sides and swimming about. We definitely saw fish hitting the surface and all over the Lake. They just werent very intrested in us.The boat launch is very accessible and while one person is gathering or putting in belongings there is still Room for other watercraft to get in-and-out. There is a nice big pier. One to look out over the whole lake and take in the beauty. There was a company renting kayaks the day we were there. I am not certain how often they are there or the actual times of the year? There is a picnic area, dog park and playground. Also a beautiful walking path around the lake if your not boating and plenty of places to fish from the shore. Worth a visit!
I love this place...Bolingbrook IL
Very nice place to go fishing
A nice loop, a little over a mile long. Saw some cute ducks cross the trail. Its quiet and peaceful.
Such a nice and beautiful area. I love driving here, boating in the lake and I wanna ride my bike around their path. Their dog park is also very very nice.
Easy access! Pet friendly!
Love this place. I come here alot to fish and go to the dog park. FYI you do need a permit to use the dog park. It is controlled by the Will County Forest Presrve and they issue the permits. Always a great time and the facilities are always maintained very well. Heres a few pics of a Loon that followed us around the Lake for about 30 mins.
Beautiful place
Pier is not next to ramp?!? Very difficult to launch boats. Limited shade on shore. Very clean with nice walking, running, biking trail.
A nice walk, a bit of wild life including one eagle.
Always a nice outdoor place
Nice park with lots of places to go hiking a lake with the dock for fishing or boating and a fenced in dog area.
Beautiful place to ride and relax.
This is a beautiful lake to walk around. Lots if trails and a boat launch. Also plenty of parking.
This was a nice surprise. I took my dogs to meet their pet sitter and we found this while driving home. I nice walk for the dogs around the lake. Not sure of the distance but they all slept well on the drive home.
The scenery is gorgeous. The lake is a pretty good size. Lots of weeds in the lake for fishing.
Does anyone know if there are any muskie in this lake
I took a wonderful, if cold walk around the frozen lake today. Just me, a couple of shy coyotes and a few geese... Paradise!
Nice paved trail connected to the DuPage River trail. The lake has a couple of small islands that are apparently nature reserves, and I saw a bunch of geese and ducks and a blue heron. Naperville Kayak rents kayaks at the lake. There are pit toilets but no running water or drinking water that I could find.
Down winding drive with some majestic views, to a serene lake, that folks flock to; only to realize the pin was incorrectly dropped on Google Maps GPS. Though this place was nice enough to stay, our destination was a quiet picnic shelter pinned DuPage County Parking Lot to the west, just 100 feet between entrances.
Beautiful! Didnt catch anything though
Very nice place for tracking, biking & walking....quite & calmn
Great venue for hiking, biking, dog walking, and boating. Enjoy the peaceful atmosphere an the resident geese ...
Beautiful lake
Awesome lake to boat and get to know the chain o lakes!
Its nice didnt get to see more of it but will edit
Excellent Facility
The care they took setting up this lake as a fishery is fantastic. Plenty of structure and depth changes along with bottom composition diversity makes for a super interesting body to fish. Spent about 2 hours setting up Lowrance Carbons on a boat and using side imaging and down imaging to identify a very large variety of objects under the surface. Also tons of fish activity and bait fish zipping around.
Great lake. Fishing and boating@
Smooth enough to roller skate. Naperville Kayaks $10/hour on weekends, 10-7
Great place to go fishing catch and release only
Great place to get in a good long walk. Large loop around lake (former quarry) with interesting birds & natural plantings. Picnic shelters, fishing, bring your kayaks/canoes, bike path. Plenty of parking. Also parking for boat trailers.
Cute and relaxing
Nice place to walk, ride a bicycle or fish from the shore or your small watercraft.
Fresh air
Loved it
Great place
Love it here, for running, kayaking and the dog park. This place is the best, nice people around, courteous on the trails as well.
Relaxing and peaceful place for a walk.
Wonderful lake with a biking trail 2 miles around. Fishing boats could go into the lake. Cute little island pieces are in the middle of the lake.
Beautiful lake and well maintained
Its okay
Decent fishing altough could be much better. Paths are nice
One of my favorite places. Off leash dog park, biking, walking around the lake.
Clean and plenty of parking
