Although this is a small botanical garden, its very nice and has a variety of plants that bloom at various times during the season. In addition to the gardens, there are numerous shorter trails through the woods. One if the trails circles and all abandoned water supply reservoir with the remains of the dam works. There a numerous informational postings and the trails are well marked.

Nice flat mostly graveled pathway... I think a single lap around the old resivour in .7 mile. Although most of the paths are gravel you COULD encounter wet/muddy conditions if a path through the woodlot is taken.Because the trails are flat and non-technical the Botanical Gardens can be very busy

Stunning scenery and park grounds for such a small park. Traces of old growth forest remain in the park. The modern botanical areas are lovely as well. Neat recent history as a water reservoir discussed on signs throughout the park. The water flowing in the small creek is crystal clear with a sandy bottom.

Happy accident in discovering this place. We were on a day trip from Pittsburgh-- stopped in Morgantown for lunch-- googled what to do.... The grounds are beautiful. We built cairns and fairy dwellings. Lots of ideas for my natural garden. We plan to visit again. Going for every season. It was dry so we didnt get to see the marsh/ wetlands.

The WV Botanical Garden is very nice for walking and communing with nature. Trails are well maintained with gravel and wooden benches. No fees are charged to enter the garden. Currently there are no events planned at the Nature Center due to the VIRUS. This is a beautiful place to visit frequently.

I have it 5 stars do to the many activities this Garden has, how clean it is, how staff friendly it is. It is open from dusk till dark. No cost, free to the public!!! If you wanting to get away and see some of nature’s natural beauty, this is your spot! There are also nearby areas of interest just a couple miles down the road as well. A state forest and an outlook that overlooks three states!! Check it out!! You won’t be disappointed. Enjoy!

We stopped here for a walk during our drive. It was pleasant and had a few nice walking trails but it was much more of a walk in the woods than a botanic garden. I expected a much larger, more manicured area of flora but the areal that was actually labeled was very small.

Aa
Review №74

The name doesnt match the place. This place is very good for family hiking. Marked hiking trails are well maintained, but the map suggests other unmarked trail, which are not suitable for kids or old. The basin view trail has so much large grass grown at the end of the trail, that it is hard to see the basin at the end. As the name suggests a botanic garden, it is hard to see any marking or label for the trees or plant, about what they are trying to preserve or exhibit. So, for someone without knowledge about plants it is difficult to educate their kids about those. The little marking they have for botanic garden are very insufficient and are very common to the areas.

It has nothing to do with botanical gardens. The title is misleading. If it could be labeled something else such as nature trails, it would have been more enjoyable knowing what to expect. I would not have brought handicap family members.

Very nice place to walk and had a guide at the start of the trails that gave us directions to her favorite areas to walk to. A majority of the area is natural plantlife rather than heavily planted gardens. That said the areas that are gardened are very well maintained and have good signage to indicate what is growing.

WVBG is a beautiful site with some display gardens (now well signed) with areas of native flora. There is a boardwalk across a natural wet/swampy area. There are explanatory signs throughout the property. We walked the 0.72 mile reservoir loop. There are multiple additional trails through the native plants (undeveloped) part of the property. There are bathrooms in the downhill side of the Visitor Center that enter from outdoors and are available for visitor use. We visit a few times a year, either for an official program or on our own, and always enjoy it.
