This theatre is great! There is only one screen so many times there is only one screening a day, but they do a great job of offering films that cannot be found at other big theatres in the area. I like that they show old movies that I never had the chance to see on the big screen as well as documentaries, indie films, and the Oscar short films! They also have a great snack selection and a bar on the second floor so it is a great date night option!

Very cool building, beautiful. They do some great limited releases, old films, new films, you name it. They do current releases oh, but not all the time. Best of all? There is a restaurant/bar upstairs. What a beer, or something to eat, while you watch a movie? They have all that and a great balcony too

Defiantly a unique place! There is only one theatre so you get to see whatever is being featured that day. It looks like it use to be a stage so if you sit too far to either side the view of the screen is not as good but it’s a massive screen and a really great experience!

Beautiful old theatre experience!Very well maintained, old-school layout with an upper level, but the seating is updated and comfortable!Theres a bar on the upper level! The concession prices are pretty decent overall (you can get a large popcorn & soda for $13 with free refills!).We went to go see a movie showing of The Rocky Horror Picture Show and the crowd was really into it from start to finish.I would definitely go back to this location in the future.

Visited here for their monthly showing of the Rocky Horror Picture Show. All in all it was a wonderful experience. The theater was initially clean, despite the mess made by the cast and audience throughout the performance. The downside was that there was no parking close by and we had to wait outside the theater for nearly an hour before being let in, despite having pre-bought our tickets.

Rocky Horror Picture Show with Floor Show at Uptown TheaterAn experience like no other. Its a campy romp that makes fun of everyone. Remember! You are not here to watch the movie. Do that at home. Then come to Uptown once you have a clue. Please note: There are accessibility issues.... standing outside for an hour or longer is not possible for everyone and less comfortable as temps drop. And there are stairs. Most of the crowd for the October (aka Halloween) show was very young and healthy. I struggled a bit between the long time on my feet and walking with a cane in a large moving crowd that suddenly hits a set of stairs. And it was worth it. The tradition lives on.

It was fun to step back in time a little bit to this classic old theater and see the Midnight Madness showing of The Rocky Horror Picture Show shadow cast production. Had a great time sharing this experience with my daughter! We enjoyed the audience participation piece as well as all the Improv and comedy ad-libs throughout their presentation... it was a phenomenally great time! I recommend trying it out to anyone - it is it well worth all the ANTICI - - - PATION!

This is a great theater boasting some classic sensibilities. First of all—they have a bar and couch seating on the balcony. But it’s not suburban-esque gimmicky, it’s just perfect. They also have beautifully remodeled the Art Deco interior. Finally, they play great movies, I’ve had some really special film going experiences here over the years. Do keep in mind that if there’s something you want to see films typically only stay at the Uptown for about a week before heading down the block to the Lagoon. Great cinema, I highly recommend! (And kudos to whoever does their marquee, always makes me laugh)

This theater was awful. No water fountain and only one bathroom. There were signs that said there were more bathrooms, but I never found any. The parking lot in back, that may or may not be associated with the theater, had the parking bar up and the ticket machine said have a nice day. I understood this to mean it was free to park there, especially since it was a holiday. Came out of the movie and had to pay $10.50 to park. This was more than the movie. I would have gladly parked at a free meter, since it was a holiday, if I would have thought for one second that the lot wasnt free. Whether or not the parking lot has any affiliation with the theater doesnt matter, what does matter is that I had an awful experience and I will never go back there to see a movie.

Great selection of movies, and the best part about the theater is that it hosts live shadow cast performances of the Rocky Horror Picture Show and The Room every month. Keep an eye out for when they screen Japanese films like Studio Ghibli and Akira, seeing it on the big screen at Landmark Uptown is worth it.

This is a classic old school theater. Lots of unique cult films and independent movies here. They do the Rocky Horror justice here. Some of the best movies Ive ever seen were in this theater. Concessions are good, fair priced, and unique. My only critique is I wish theyd not take the construction era of the theater so literally and change the gaudy paint colors to some that people would want to be around.

The uptown theater is an absolute Uptown Minneapolis gem! They frequently show Indies, older movies that are classics, or movies that have a cult following like The Rocky Horror Picture Show! The theater is an architectural gem with balcony seating and a full bar on the second level.THE BAR: The bar will only let you buy one drink at a time if you are solo. If you are buying a drink for your date they have to be present with you at the bar. They will however let you buy a bottle of wine...... which counts as one drink. Silly, I know. My husband and I shared a double because he was sitting in the theater while I went out to get us drinks. Without this policy we would have both had double wines! This is of course right before the person behind me ordered a bottle which is how I learned of the loop hole of how to order more than one drink. Order a bottle!

My main criticism is that I strongly recommend getting there early enough to get first dibs on seating. With the way the theater is designed, some of the seats are awesome, and some are pretty awful. First time to visit this theater for a concert of The Letterman. It is a lovely, small theater ( I would guess seating to be about 350) staffed by lovely people who genuinely care about the theater. I found little that would prompt a return to Grand Prairie with the exception of this theater. This was a lovely experience in a lovely theater! It is a shame that the area around the theater doesnt share the same charm. HOWEVER< it is not in a seedy area and our group felt safe in and around the theater. So please dont be put off by the neighborhood.
