This is a beautiful theatre--one of the oldest in Milwaukee. Tonight we saw the Milwaukee symphony play Empire strikes back and it was fantastic. Staff were really helpful. The view was lovely. Drinks were expensive but very fun. My only complaint was that the seats were definitely dated so I was glad got the intermission. The bathrooms are also small so I wouldnt advise a very large soda.

The Riverside is always a charming place to enjoy a show but was obviously built in a time when Hobbit-sized adults were the standard. The lack of leg room is reminiscent of flying economy on Spirit and the lack of places to put your one of 2 beverage or snack options is overly apparent. But acoustics are great, decor is historically authentic and the stop and frisk security adds a nice human touch.

Beautiful venue with good sound. Venue has an elevator for accessibility to upper and lower floors. Restrooms are adequate (Mens room had 3 stalls & 4 urinals). Noted a Family restroom on the lower level for people in wheelchairs.

The theatrical quality of the venue is exceptional with its vaulted ceiling and ornamental lighting and interior. On top of that, one could not help but be impressed by the exceptional performance of the symphonys tribute to John Williams. It was just what you would expect from a group of such high caliber. So why only three stars? In one simple word...seating. Im usually not one to fuss, but in this case, these seats were not much better than a folding chair with a firm seat cushion and restrictive wooden arm rests (of which must be shared). These theater seats are better sized for children and are not conducive to the modern sized person. I am only 59 and I could barely fit into my assigned space! Lucky for me I sat on the end, second row in the balcony section. These premium seats cost premium dollars, but offered little for even standard comfort. Sorry, I hope I didnt step on anyones toes. After a while, butt, back and joints started to ache, so ended up leaving early. Again, not a reflection on the symphonys performance. It was absolutely fantastic! Got remaining season tickets for front row. Hoping those experiences will be much better. If you found this review to be helpful or you enjoyed the photos, please click like. Thanks!

I saw Chris Delias 2019 stand up act here. The venue is beautiful, easy to find, and medium sized. I had close to the stage seats, but any seat in the venue provides a great view of the stage. I cant speak much on the acoustics since I saw a comedy show here. However, I could clearly hear Delia and the sound resonated well throughout the theater.

First time being to this theater, or any theater. That being said, I have nothing else to compare it to. Staff was nice and they worked very efficiently to help you find your seats. The theater itself was just clean, and it was very interesting to look at. With the amount of people though, it was slow moving while trying to leave. I would go back to see another show.

Great venue. Park in the lot they suggest on their website and get a voucher from the venue for $5. Drinks are affordable. Views are great. If youre tall, theres not a ton of leg room while sitting.Protio: use the bathroom downstairs and buy a drink at that bar downstairs with the shorter line.

The theater is very old. Dont get me wrong the craftsmanship inside is amazing but the theater smells very musty and the staff are very unorganized, it took three different ushers before we were able to find our seats. The seats are a little too small to accommodate anyone leaving the middle of the row which happened a lot during the performance. Overall I was unimpressed

BUYER BEWARE!! - Unlike most companies or respectable establishments (that want repetitive customer business), the Riverside Theater is NOT offering refunds due to COVID 19 Cancellations!!! They re-scheduled our ticketed event for 5 months out, on a different weeknight, and they are stiffing their customers on refunds if/when that re-schedule date doesnt work! These are tough times and they are taking to holding your money hostage to get through them. Dont buy

We drove down from St. Paul to see Brandi Carlile at the Riverside Theater. It was fantastic! The theater is beautiful and has great acoustics. They offer alcoholic and non-alcoholic drink options. All of the staff members that we encountered were very friendly and helpful as well. There is some street parking nearby but there is also a ramp within a couple minutes from the door, if all of the street parking is taken.

Review №28

The seats are very comfortable and all provide an excellent view of the stage. It remains well decorated and in excellent condition. Only gets 4-stars because the restroom capacity is far too low, and the exits are over-crowded, making it difficult to exit should an emergency occur. In addition, the ticket fee add-ons pass the point of ridiculous.

We had tickets to attend the Christmas Vacation show and unfortunately, I was on crutches due to a recent injury. This venue is not a good fit for anyone with mobility issues. The theater is not bad at all & the location next to the river is really nice. My only complaint is the signage, or lack thereof. They could do a much better job providing adequate signage telling you how to get to the theater from their parking garage at 720 E. Main Street. There were numerous people, including my party, walking around trying to figure out where the heck the theater entrance was from the garage. Turns out that its approximately 2 city blocks away & you have to get there by street instead of using the sky walk from the garage. If not for the lack of signage, Id give them 4 or 5 stars; probably 4.

The show was great! There were not any bad seats viewing wise and the building was amazingly beautiful. A couple of things if i were to nitpick:1. The seats were incredibly crowded. I felt like I was sitting on the woman sitting next to mes lap.2. Although having multiple bars makes getting drinks in any location easier, either make sure they all have the same stuff or make each one specific (only beer or only mixed).3. Speaking of bars? Maybe DONT have them exactly 2 steps inside the front doors. It made getting in kind of an issue.

Performer was as good as I had hoped but I was unable to see around person in front of me, and the person to left of me was overweight to the point where I could not position myself in my seat without their body pushing against my left leg. I did not enjoy the show due to this, and feel as though that person should have had to pay for two seats if they couldnt fit entirely in one seat.

Not the greatest venue for the wonderful Milwaukee Pops orchestra. The stage is too small, the sounds was not symphonic, and to expect good results from the performance of the Alleluia Chorus from Handels Messiah, with only 16 voices was almost laughable. It was a poor choice for that small stage! (Besides, it is proper to stand for that movement and NO ONE DID!) The seats are old, uncomfortable and leave little leg room for taller patrons. Parking is inconvenient and difficult for those with physical limitations. Im glad the Riverside is only the temporary home of the Pops!

This establishment is a beautiful and ornate theatre that is awesome to enter. The lobby is relatively small yet easy to navigate. The staff actually employed by the theatre are amazingly friendly, helpful, and kind. Unfortunately various performers/events bring their own event staff who are consistently rude, unpleasant, and rough. The staff of the theatre itself are quick to answer any questions and guide someone new to the building. Ive attended multiple shows and each has proved exciting. Seats are relatively comfortable and provide more leg room than many other theatres. Lines outside of the theatre can be common but that is often due to artists/performers rather than the staff of the theatre. I would definitely recommend this establishment.

Review №78

Although the theatre itself is wonderful, its quite disappointing that it is impossible to get to this venue via the skywalk without having to go up/down stairs. My friend has a bad knee, and walks with a cane, and I thought we could avoid walking the street to get to the theatre, but ended up dealing with 2 sets of stairs. When our event was over, we ended up walking the street in the cold, to the parking structure 1 1/2 blocks away, only to find out that the parking structure had only one of two elevators working, so it took a 10 minute wait to actually get into the elevator. Most of the People had to wait in the cold to take the elevator. So, this is not a handicap friendly venue to go to, unless you get dropped off in front of it. When you walk with a cane, this is VERY difficult.

I used to go here all the time for operas when I was younger. This place was just not the same. It was so dirty my feet were sticking to to ground. The toilet in one of the womens bathroom on the second floor was leaking everywhere, there was standing water, they were mopping up. They need to invest in new seating and remove ones per row would allow so much elbow room for people. I know I know, that one seat is worth more then comfort of the guest but hey its a thought.sadly I wont ne back unless I hear they are attempting to make some changes.
