I saw many plays here. For those in the D/HH community, they’re very accessible. They offer headphones that bring the performances to a whole new level. They offer many goodies, and concessions. A good safe place, it is, to appreciate performing arts.

The theater itself is nice and ushers are great. The production we were there for was able to put on an amazing show and special effects. The available bar service was much too expensive for barely a shot of alcohol in a drink. There was about 50 cents worth of liquor and$9.50 worth of ice!

I love this theatre, and am very happy that there is accessible seating options, but as a disabled person, the elevators need a serious upgrade! They are so slow! Also its very hard to use the bathroom during intermission, because all the able-bodied people dont go to the larger bathrooms on the second floor and instead cause a huge line at the bathroom near the accessible seating and wont let the obviously disabled people in ahead of them. It would be nice if there were designated separate accessible bathrooms, or even just signs near the smaller first floor bathroom directing able-bodied people to use the larger second floor bathroom. Id give four stars for a rating if the bathroom situation wasnt so hard on the disabled, because beyond that I really enjoy myself at the theatre.

Yesterday I went with my daughters to see The Lion King a full length Broadway musical making its tour at the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Milwaukee. You are no longer in your seat, you are on the plains of the African Savannah surrounded by fascinating animals puppeteered by humans .The music of Circle of Life, Can you feel the love tonightand countless other songs are performed by an outstanding cast of singers and orchestra including the beat of the African drums that pulsate during the performance. The vibrant colorful costumes, the lively dancers transport you during this magnificent moment in time that I assure you will be a memory for years to come.

Ive been to the Marcus many a time and have always loved the shows. Im a twenty-something man and I have never been personally involved in the arts. But every time I go to a show with my wife here, Im surprised, engaged, and find a new love for the arts! This is a lovely place for the whole family and sometimes they have discounted tickets to attract young people as well.

Its a good theater in a busy, trendy part of town. They get some big name productions and all the seats in the house are good. But the theater itself feels dated, the bathroom situation is subpar and it just feels like it could do with a good remodel. Granted it would cost a fortune but its needed. The attached parking option is a lifesaver, especially during the weekend.

TLDR; great venue, parking is awful so Uber, during intermission get in line at the bar immediately cause theyre slow.Im giving it 5 stars because I loved The Lion King and it translated well in this venue. My only complaint is that the vocals during the songs were hard to hear over the music. They needed to mix that a little better, the lyrics were hard to pinpoint. We sat in the box seats so it was a great view and comfortable setting. During intermission getting a refresher on drinks too to long, so they need to have more than one person running the bar. If you park in the garage get there early, do not park on the top! You will have to wait an hour for the cars below you to clear out.

Can tell this place is getting a little dated. I find myself coming here at least twice a year and compared to similar venues around the country, its about due for some upgrades....from the common areas to the seating. In particular, this was my first time in recent memory that I sat somewhere other than orchestra level in Uihlein Hall. Due to the lateness in getting our tickets we had upper-level seating, and I was not impressed with the sight lines to the stage. This could/should be improved upon as part of any renovation/upgrade project. But age notwithstanding, Im happy we have such a venue to experience first-class live entertainment. The performances here have always been top notch. This includes the other smaller theaters in the complex. My favorite is Todd Wehr theater....not a bad seat in the house, and a perfect intimate setting for First Stage productions.

This has always been my favorite concert hall in downtown Milwaukee. It doesn’t have the ornate architecture or rich tradition of some of the other concert venues in this city, but I like the acoustics here, and I’ve always been a fan and supporter of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra.Alas, the MSO is moving to its own venue about a mile south of here, but that doesn’t mean there’s not going to still be great performances happening in this storied venue. It has comfortable seating, room for more than 1000 people, and plenty of parking even though it’s in a crowded downtown area.My only worry about this location is that some of the facility’s officials are contemplating the destruction of the lovely grove of chestnut trees and park benches on the south side of the building, which was designed by architect who was inspired by the Paris Tuileries gardens. It would be a tragedy if this nicely matured area of shade trees and benches, placed there 30 years ago specifically for quiet contemplation, are destroyed in the name of “progress.”Go visit there before the trees are gone and replaced by an inexplicable plot of boring grass, and then see what concerts are coming to town, because no matter what happens to the outside of this modern concert hall, you’ll certainly want to attend another one of the great performances inside this beautiful building.

Would not recommend going to a show at the Marcus Center during the winter. There was a larger than expected snowstorm on the day of our show so I called into the ticketing office and asked if I could transfer my tickets to another show date. I was told that NO refunds or exchanges were being offered. The customer service reps I talked to were both short and unfriendly. Their advice to me was that I should be fine driving in as the plows do a good job in Milwaukee, and that the snow wasnt that bad. I told them I do not like driving in bad weather and they then told me that I should just sell my tickets on ticketmaster. Bad Wisconsin winter weather is stressful enough as is..was not impressed with the Marcus Center policy and attitude.

Update: Attended the 10/26 performance of Hamilton. This play rocks on so many levels. Simply stellar. Uihlein Hall served the performance well. Sound system was not quite up to the task for such an aggressive and complicated score. It got better during the show.Overall a wonderful time and we thoroughly enjoyed it.Still a nice venue for a show ...next renovation Id like to suggest adding a center aisle to aid access.

We saw a midsummer nights dream ballet on an afternoon matinee. Our show was lovley and the performance was amazing. The dancers are incredible, skilled athletes that leap around on airThe sets are simple moving pieces but made with extraordinary detail and costumes are gorgeous. The music is so beautiful but in case you didnt know, its all slow quiet classical music. So here are my tips. I highly advise a night show if you want to actually enjoy the program. The matinee brings a huge amount of tired, bored little kids.It was really warm in the theater and there were a lot of children! Through the whole performance there were several ongoing (as in every 5-8 minutes) screaming and crying children and it was disturbing and annoying. The parents made no effort to calm them or take them out for a minute and the rest of us listened to the screaming through the entire performance. Im sure it makes it difficult for the performers because the theatre is so quiet you hear every sound amplified. Why parents feel its ok to ruin it for everyone else Im not sure. But sitting in a quiet, dark theater with soft music for a minimum of an hour 30 min to two hours is not going to be tolerable or interesting for any small kid, so please, please if your kid is under 7 dont bring them. Its not an event they will enjoy. Its not a childrens idea of fun. Its not flashy, bright, with any silly characters. There are no sparkly lights, or catchy songs. Its a 2 hour ballet and small children will not understand the story or even the language which is not modern english. That being said. If your an adult that wants to enjoy the talented artists go for it. Just go at night.
