The staff were friendly, inviting and knowledgeable. I felt like I was going on a journey in someone elses shoes for once and saw the way the world was in Milwaukee. It was so nice to see the exhibits and be able to ask my burning questions about my hometown. Ive gained valuable perspective and I will come back to volunteer!
The Wisconsin Black Historical Society is a highly recommended place to frequent. It is a great cultural and historical learning experience for schools, individuals, or family trips. Ive been there a number of times, including the annual Fresh Perspective Urban Heroes Art exhibit. The founder Mr. Clayborn Benson is very knowledgeable and passionate about Black History. This is definitely a gem nestled in the heart of the community.Give them a call and schedule a visit or during their regular hours. There is a parking lot in the rear of the building for your convenience. This museum is a cultural gem.
This is a great place to learn much history that will not be in your history book. Please donate to help programs through this organization grow!
My first time visiting and Im definitely going to return to just soak it all in
Cool spot to learn about history in Milwaukee. Lots of great pictures from the 60s and 70s amidst the civil-rights marches in the city.
This would have been a great time but wasnt very many people there
Tried to visit the museum during their posted hours. Unfortunately the doors were locked and no one was home.
Great place to be and go back into the past.
If you dont know your history check out the museum for the blacks if you dont know your culture your heritage or where your family or friends or Neighbors she go there itll tell you exactly about your history
Its great to have an organization that focuses on what African Americans have contributed to Wisconsin

The best Kwanzaa event in the U.S.!
The sure awe of this place is amazing.
Very nice place to go visit not sure about the parking on the street if you got to pay or not
Correct history & information is a plus. Informative!!!
It was a nice time everybody was invited they had parking and there was street parking in handicap parking a church that was trying to get people together for no walkie
Ive come here many years. So many events and meetings. Most often Im there for the Nefetari dance group, which practices there regularly. There are also community events. Attended Kwanzaa there, and it was very deep and infectious, I dont think there was anyone who was not feeling the good vibes. The museum display is very small, I would love to see it bigger. A nice community place
Love it there a great place
This organization needs a lot more donations & sponsorship. Lots of info there & is very interesting. More money for upkeep and a remodel is needed so Black American history in Milwaukee can be told properly.
Excellent organization and much needed historical resource. Great for school groups.
Great, untold and talked about history of Wisconsin
Very interesting museum and quite a large collection of Wisconsin black history memorabilia. No admission fee. Please leave a donation to help keep this museum going.

I love the fact that there is a place that tells the history of Wisconsin concerning the black culture and history here in Milwaukee
I like having an opportunity to know what my race has been through and accomplished.
Great displays, tons of information and wonderful personal tours by first the daughter of the founder and then the founder himself - Clayborn Benson! Museum is in a poorer area of Milwaukee but we felt very safe.
