This place was awesome!! My first visit and it was worth the cost of admission. If I lived closer I would have a season pass. Even with the day being cool and rainy it was great to see the colors of the trees, the squirrels and chipmunks forging food for the winter and the apples starting to ripen. Check this place out and have a few hours to just wander, it is worth your time!
This is a great place to visit with the family. Lots of walking trails but you’re never too far from a restroom. Very quiet and peaceful. There is a canopy walk which is a must see when you visit. They have a couple of visitor centers. The picture shows the “main” visitor center. We visited in August so everything was in full bloom. It sounds like they are open all year round. There is a café on the north end of the Gardens. A limited menu, actually very limited, owing to Covid, but it’s still a pleasant place to sit and relax for a few minutes. All the seating is outside.
Beautiful gardens to enjoy all year round. Much smaller scale than Meijer Gardens, but thats not a downside! Much less crowded (great during these COVID times). Great walking. Quaint conservatory. A hidden gem in Midland. Must see!
Beautiful grounds, with miles of trails to walk along and enjoy nature. The tree canopy walk was our favorite part. Purchasing tickets online went smoothly and helped to ensure limited numbers in the park at one time.
So many beautiful spaces! All thoughtfully put together, not a single, boy, it would be nice if they had _____.Every thing was marvelous, pristine, friendly, comfortable, and utterly beautiful. Will absolutely return again and again.
Even at the end of the season. This was a great place to visit. The Whiting Forest was beautiful.
It is beautiful garden! It is great time to go now ( October 10th). The foliage color is peaking. We were wondering in it like kids. It is the best garden in Michigan!
Amazingly manicured forest and gardens. Dont expect to be able to walk briskly, casual walking only.
Friendly, wheelchair accessible and very clean outdoor pleasure walking and guided tours facility. Reservations required. Entry fee or seasonal pass.
Amazing place! Must see. All attractions, all gardens are amazing
Large well maintained garden. Had a fun time there with the family despite a few covid restrictions that were in place. It was a little less structured than I anticipated. More of a explore off the beaten path kind of place than a strictly laid out museum. Although a little confusing at times, overall it was quite nice.
Thoroughly enjoyed our experience! A picture-perfect afternoon spent at Dow Gardens. Arrived at 3:30 and stayed until close (6pm), and could easily have enjoyed another hour or more. Love that they allow you to walk on the grass. A high percentage of the flowers and trees are labeled with signs indicating the kind. Well maintained throughout. Due to COVID didn’t have access to buildings (including butterflies), yet was not disappointed. The whole experience was well worth the $10/person entry fee paid.
A beautiful place to visit and just walk around.
Gardens were super fun but the rope bridges and the playground were closed, cafe had drinks, ice cream, and hot or ice coffee. Beautiful place to visit tickets were only $10
One of most beautiful gardens Ive ever seen!! Beautifully Manicured everywhere you look. Cant believe I havent discovered this place sooner. Take the drive to Midland.Make time to tour the Alden Dow Estate if you can make a day of it. Downtown Midland is precious too.
Beautiful place! Love it! I spent almost 3 hours walking around! Ill come back to see the autumn colors!
Absolutely love dow gardens amazing place for a good walk through a beautiful garden!
Absolutely gorgeous!! It’s a great way to spend a day with great friends or family and enjoy the outdoors.
GREAT PLACE!! Worth going, lots of pathways. Gardens everywhere, a deer walked right up to us! So if you want an experience to remember make this a must see.
A beautiful property that we are lucky to have in the area. I really suggest getting a membership. Its a great place to look at some gorgeous landscaping and go for a peaceful walk... as long as you get there before the small kids. And if you have small kids its a great place to go! They have the sky walk and a nice little playground.
So clean, beautiful and peaceful! Go fir any length of time and you will want to go back!! Whiting cafe was a bonus with ice cream on a 80 degree day. Staff is always friendly and willing to help out. Great experience... The canopy walk is a must, the nets are for big kids too (50 and older) keep your sunglasses close as mine slipped back when I was laying on the nets and didnt feel them come off, my favorite blue frames/blue mirror lens, gone...had the staff go check when we were leaving at closing and noticed them not on my head, didnt find them....so dont leave anything behind as not all visitors turn in lost items into the visitor center. Thank you staff members for running back and checking!! Cant wait to come back when the leaves turn more fall colors!
A nice weekend getaway . Book online .
Dow Gardens is a must see experience for everyone that loves Gods nature. Gorgeous views from every direction & very well maintained landscape paths to walk around & see 110 acres along with the Canopy walk through is just breath taking. Bring your camera!
Its so beautiful especially in the fall!
Beautiful!! A peaceful, family oriented environment. The canopy walk design & build won me over many times. It was meticulously designed & constructed around nature with some curvature without disturbing the trees nor impeding the root of the trees. A worthwhile place to see in all seasons. I will be there again to see the beauty of the colors in Fall. A place to visit, to appreciate everything about nature & the environment.
Very nice relaxing day. Not much in bloom this late in season but still enjoyed the day. Social distancing was followed 100 percent which we appreciated.
Another refuge from the craziness. Though i didnt see any gaulteria procumbens in any of the ground covers - a natural, native ground cover in sandy wooded areas in Michigan. It IS wintergreen and non-invasive.
This place is fantastic for adults and families. Dow Gardens is absolutely beautiful. You could spend all afternoon strolling through their gardens, wishing they were yours. The canopy walk is interesting and a lot of fun. I would highly recommend this place for a full day of fun, beautiful sights and family entertainment.
The gardens were amazing. Would love to go when things are in full bloom. The canopy walk in the trees was a big disappointment. But again I would go back for the gardens
I loved the place... its good with family and kids... Dow Gardens has from everything. Stuff for kids, nice Romantic places... its ao quiet and peaceful and i love it
Super peaceful. Kid friendly. Pretty flowers and neat structures. Everything you want for a garden
Lovely place. Flowers in bloom everywhere and the canopy walk is fun.
Its just beautiful, theres an area for kids to learn about growing a garden, theres beautiful landscapes. I loved there canapy walk. They do have an area they serve drinks I recommend there lemonade to pretty good
This was 6th visit to this beautiful garden. Its always welcoming whatever be the season. This time could witness the tulip blooms with a splash of colors. Its a lovely spot for wedding or maternity or graduation or family photo shoots. Theres a rose garden, childrens park, small stream, waterfall, huge trees, origami etc. Its a breathtaking landscape. It has a beautiful store where you can buy sovereign.
So beautiful! I wish I could come here everyday. So much to walk through, and a great little coffee shop!
9-28-19. Upon arrival I had a sneeze attack. Beautiful place. Loved the origami. Loved the design. Very kid friendly. Loved the basement laughter coming from the kids in the onion looking pod thingamabob. Left with an itchy hand. Not sure if it was something I touched or a bug bite but it went away after a day. Otherwise great experience.
My 10 year old said out of all the places we have gone, this was the funnest. Michelle in the childrens garden was amazing and took time to help our family take a picture and show us the veggies. Awesome time, will definitely go back.
Gave us something to do with the kiddos this weekend. They loved it almost as much as we did. This place is truly gorgeous. We will be back, I’m sure more than just once.
Spectacular beauty. It feels like youve stepped into Monet painting. Handicap accessible throughout!
Fantastic place cant wait to go back in spring & summer to see the beauty of nature in full bloom
More beautiful than I could imagine. Its easy to lose yourself in the beauty of the canopy. Im so glad I visited while I was in town. A real gem!
Great way to spend the day in nature. Beautiful grounds. Lots to see and do. Well worth time to visit
Was a great stop. Enjoyed the childrens garden and the tree canopy.you could spend a whole day or just a few hours. Kid friendly
Beautiful quiet place to enjoy flowers and the great outdoors.
Well worth the 2hr drive from Detroit area. Well designed landscaping. My family spent the whole day. Lots to see. Loads of space for kids to spread their legs and get fresh air
Wow! We drove from the Detroit area up to visit the gardens and treetop walk. I had no idea how expansive and beautiful the grounds were.If you’re planning on headed straight to the tree top canopy walk, do not drive to the Dow Gardens and visitor center entrance. There’s a separate entrance right outside of the canopy walk. Even though the gardens are delightfully beautiful, it is quite a walk to get to the canopy from the visitors center. If you are going with children, plan on extra time to visit the children’s garden and playground. You may want to bring an extra set of clothes, because there is a lot of water play! Don’t forget to bring lots of water and snacks. This is definitely a place to plan on staying an entire day! So many things to explore! Fun for all ages!
Just go see it.. a lit of walking but wheel chairs are welcomed. Canapy walk is not wheel chair accessible. Call and make reservations.
Even with COVID-19 precautions, this is a lovely place to stroll! You simply need to call ahead to arrange a time.
Great place to take the family I would give you 5 stars but you had the rope bridge and pod closed I came hour an a half for that by the way.
This is my favorite place to go when I want to have a peaceful, and very scenic walk with nature. Plenty of different kinds of trees, bushes, flowers and a few bridges. Not to mention the different kind of birds, butterflies, dragonflies, chipmunks, squirrels you will see as well. I highly recommend this place if you visit the fine city of Midland Michigan.
It was very nice the canopy walk was wonderful Im sorry you didnt have the lights up like your advertisement shows
This place is awesome! You cant look in any direction with out seeing something that is amazing. The price for what you get as far as walking around the gardens and just getting lost is far more than worth it. This is one of the best ways to spend a day doing nothing at all and just enjoying where you are.
A great place to stroll around and explore. There are a ton of things to learn and see here. We loved to explore some of the trails that were off the beaten path. Meticulously maintained and cared for. Peaceful way to spend a morning.
A dream of a beautiful, picture perfect park setting. A taste of heaven on earth.
Beautiful, Nice, Handicap Friendly, Peaceful, and Serene. This place is an awesome walk in nature and beauty. Make sure that you bring your best cameras because this place has lots of spots to take wonderful pictures. The tree canopy walk is really cool!
Beautiful gardens and woods. The canopy walk was fun.
I absolutely adore Dow Gardens. If you plan on going here multiple times, buy the annual pass. Ever since moving back to Midland, I have gone to Dow Gardens on several of my days off of work. Its a relaxing, beautiful location filled with a calming sense of tranquility. When the tulips are out, this place is even more magical, with thousands upon thousands of the most beautiful blooms I have ever seen. One of my favorite things is how easy it is to play Pokemon Go at this location- I find walking around the countless trails and playing the game is a great way to be active in a very peaceful environment. This is one of the only wooded areas where I can walk and feel safe enough to let my guard down and just enjoy everything going on around me.
Love this place. Childrens garden is very nice and entertaining for the kids. The whole grounds are kept up and very beautiful. If you are in the area, definitely stop and take a peaceful quiet walk.
Beautiful grounds with lots of different trees, flowers, trails and a stream. What a bargain...only $5 & includes the brand new canopy walk! See my Whiting Forest Canopy Walk review.
Its beautiful! You can explore and it is great for families. I hope to return annually!
Such a beautiful place to wander. Very serene with many paths to choose from. There is even a childrens garden and each person may pick and pull up a vegetable of their chosing. Before exploring the outside, read the history of the Dow family inside the building first. The influence of the Dow family resulted in the beautiful city of Midland, Michigan.
Great place to relax and enjoy the fresh scent of flowers. Its so beautiful.
Beautiful grounds! Give yourself plenty of time, you could spends hours here.
Always a great place to visit, especially in the spring! Lots of paved trails and beautiful gardens. It also now connects to Whiting Forest via bridge.
Dow Gardens had a wonderful origami sculpture exhibit going on. The flowers were just beginning to bloom during our visit. The conservatory area is currently closed. I am not sure why.Childrens garden is nice, but on the small side. The playground in Whiting Forest is fabulous. I think my kids enjoyed Whiting Forest more than Dow Gardens, especially the swinging bridge on the canopy walk.
It is a very nice garden. It has mazes and a lot of things the family will enjoy. The workers are very nice and helpful.
We attended this during the butterfly exhibit. The exhibit was very well run by multiple staff members. The team was very knowledgeable and appeared to great enjoy their job.The team encourages you to hold the butterflies. It is a very interactive exhibit. The only negative to the experience was the walk from the guest services to the exhibit house. It is a distance away, so be prepared with your winter gear. Additionally, there were several icy patches on the trail.I do plan to come back and enjoy the gardens in the summer. It feels like a magical place.
Beautiful, had a fantastic time visiting here with my husband
Cant wait to come back. We brought our kids this time and they loved it all!!
Really nice place for exploring. Good for social distancing.
Wonderful trails, secret garden, great places for photography. A great place for family to take in the beautiful sculpted trails and cross over Brooks and grass valleys. It is a must see.
We went on The Christmas Walk for a family night out and had a wonderful time! We saw many beautiful lights, carolers, and bands. We got to pet reindeer, drink hot cocoa and got a wonderful view of the Poinsettia Tree in the green house. The waterfall looks amazing on the way back out. And before we left, we got a great view of some fireworks. They did a wonderful job as always. Thank you to all the people who helped make this a fun night.
Beautiful gardens, well worth the time and money to go. A guided tour is nice for first time attenders.
Beautiful day at Dow Gardens today. Weather was perfect, not too busy.
My family really enjoyed our day....nice place to walk around and relax...the coffee shop/cafe was great....special latte were the best...
Very cool place! Lots to see and do, Do not miss the tree top walk! Dont miss the Christmas light walk! Unfortunately no lights in the tree top walk, but great place to spend the day.
Beautiful flowers, pathways, and landscaping. Great for families, couples, or individuals. Extremely clean and well maintained.
We walked through the canopy walk, which has a playground for kids, (pictured below) and I would say its totally worth it to go, the weather was nice, although I would say go in the morning so its cooler, because once you get around noon, it gets hot. We then walked around Dow Gardens, flowers are all blooming and its a must see.
Absolutely beautiful. What a great way to spend the day.
Love it! We buy yearly passes every year.
Very nice place to enjoy a walk and the beautiful landscape. Well cared for and the kids always enjoy the childrens play area. At Christmas time it is always enjoyable as well. Thanks, Dow Gardens, for a nice place to visit with friends and family.
A great place to visit no matter the season. Lots of cool stuff to see and nature to explore. Bring the family or come alone.
Its big, real big. A nice walk in the forest.Staff were very friendly
Beautiful. Would love to visit on the spring or summer.
This garden is so beautiful. I had so much fun visiting it.
Dow gardens is a beautiful place to to be. The grounds are very clean and kept up. We go to the butterfly house every year, sometimes multiple times a year. Its a great time with the family and our children love it. The new playground by the whiting forest is so much fun for the children as well. The only thing that I can think of for improvement is to maybe get some different types of butterflies in the butterfly house. It is great to come see them every year but I would definitely love to see some different kinds in the future.
Our family had such an amazing time here! We didnt even see everything! Everything was well kept and organized. We will definitely be back.
Gorgeous place to walk around and enjoy nature! Next to the Whiting Forest is Dow Gardens - I suggest visiting both. If you take kids, good luck getting them to leave the playground.
Super clean, well kept, great visit. Plan at least 3 hours.
Delighted to see all the butterflies! Caretakers of these delicate creatures shared interesting facts...Did you know the butterfly has a lifespan of 2 weeks? Yikes! The walk to the exhibit was enjoyable...with well kept grounds, paved paths with additional walking routes for the adventurous ones, and absolutely kid friendly!
Such a wonderful, beautiful place to share and make memories with family. Or to just relax and enjoy the tranquility.
Well thought out gardens intermingled with the natural surroundings
Absolutely beautiful even in the spring when they open there butterfly house!
Amazing!! Loved it! Spent the day with the kids.
This place is so beautiful and is a must see in the fall. The canopy walk is really fun. So much to see here.
Great place!! Beautiful grounds and loved the canopy walk.
So pretty, spent 3 hours there, first time visit, will be back again. Next visit will plan time to sit and picnic
Only four stars because Im judging it against the stellar Missouri Botanical Gardens. Truly a wonderful place to spend time, especially in May.
