Gorgeous museum, will come again after COVID guidelines have lifted to enjoy the interactive exhibits. Very informative and placards are all translated into Spanish.
I’m pleased to say that we enjoyed our visit to the museum. I liked all of the diverse levels. I enjoyed being able to interact with things in the museum because those helped to keep me intrigued. There were several things that I liked about the museum, but my absolute favorite was the shark tank. I enjoyed the close encounters with the birds located in the pond. I would definitely go back another time I’m in town.
Had an amazing time at the museum! Was super fun and informative. One of the better museums in Miami for children and adults to have fun.
I have been to art walk a few times and frankly its pretty boring. This time was different. I saw a random sign in front of the santa fe lofts for a vaudeville show. Turned out to be a really cool vintage dance studio (lindyloft) and the show was wicked. The whole experience felt really underground. Hope more things like this pop up during art walk.
Love this place. Wish things were back to normal so I can go more often.
Not crowded and very accessible. Friendly staff.
The Frost Museum is on the FIU South campus. It hosts many class-act activities, art exhibits slot lighting many cultures, presentations, talks and a variety of exhibits of art styles all for free or a nominal fee. I enjoy donating to this museum and therefore supporting the arts in our community. The Frost is World-class, some events include a reception with the coolest servers and the tastiest and most unique foods. I only wish the museum where closer by being more north. I get a hotel room or Airbnb and spend the night whenever I go to avoid the extensive round trip journey from my pad in Aventura. It’s worth it though.
Very cool facility and is very very good for children!Unfortunately people in the movie theater that are locals have zero culture, what else could you expect from Miami? They were talking, flashing their phones and placing their legs and dirty shoes on the seats in front of them as if they were home.It was my experience in adults night stay at the museum... As far as I know during the day this is not the case because they have staff enforcing what should not be happening in the first place...
Sophisticated place with large collection of marine animals, as you would expect in Miami, other parts not so interesting. Show at the planetarium was pretty cool, there are a lot of options for shows.....and if you want a cool photo under the oculus, better off paying for it, their set up is better.
Very nice and organized museum. Clean and quiet. Came here for an assignment I had tondo for school. Really enjoyed my time.
We loved the childrens gallery on the first floor. The permanent collection is fantastic, and the layout and design of each gallery is beautiful.
The museum itself is a terrific building, spacious and elegant. The Art after Stonewall exhibit is really excellent. Would be 5 stars if t werent for a less than 5 star organization of events (I reserved a ticket for event weeks in advance but then wasnt allowed in because they let people in on first come first served basis and it was full--So why issue tickets?).
It’s an amazing experience and place to go!
My daughter wants to be a Space scientist and been here is like heaven for her .and its a good place for the whole family.
Thank you for allowing us to come and experience Art. If youre looking for something to actually do, this would not be the place to go. However, if you love looking at art and you have some extra time you would definitely like it.
The art museum holds many creative pieces and sculptures. A great place to observe art from different periods of time
This museum is beautiful and absolutely stunning. The ticket price comes with one of 4 shows in a dome like theatre. We saw Journey to the Stars. It was beautiful. But the reason Im giving it 3 stars is because it left much to be desired. I found it to be a glorified indoor Miami Seaquarium. The aquatic displays was indeed beautiful and families with children can really appreciate it. Lots of tropical fish, baby sharks, stingrays and a small section with a very nice jellyfish tank and octopus. I was just expecting a little more. Miami Dade residents get a 15% discount on tickets that was generous. But overall a very beautiful facility for what it is.
A not so hidden gem in the FIU campus. Truly a delight, plus no driving downtown if you live in the suburbs. Become a member!!! Worth it
Breakfast in the Park with Art is my favorite event at Frost Art Museum on the rolling green campus of Florida International Un. A champagne orange juice and light snacks to stroll among the artworks in perfect weather is a great start to the Christmas season!
It is not often that art teaches so much American history and politics. The latest exhibit does such a great job. Law and history students will learn so much of what up until now has been ignored and baby boomers will be reminded about how far America has come since Stonewall
Its free, not sure if its free to all, or just students of FIU
Cool facility and nice staffs but the surroundings is not clean.
Nice service at the front. Beautiful art all around
Beautiful building that houses the collections/exhibitions. The staff that was on duty when I was there were very friendly and helpful when asked questions. There is parking available in two multi-story garages in front of the museum. You can either pay for parking using an APP or the machine inside. The day I went was the day before spring session was to begin so it was very quiet with very few people. The permanant collection was impressive considering its size. The other exhibitions rotate regularly and the ones currently on display are similar to they types at the Perez.I would definitely recommend taking an hour or so and visit here.
Very very nice place with unique pieces and history.
Very beautiful space and fabulous art with a latin American theme. Check out the Soriano exhibit while you still can.
I dont usually give fours on these reviews but I feel like this particular museum venue has a little ways to go before it turns into an impactful center for learning in Miami. The parking price is high (around 12 bucks for 2 hours for me) but Ill give that a pass because its Miami - parking everywhere is expensive. The rooms and venues are technologically advanced, yes, with touch screens and swivels and what-not but their wasnt a lot of real SCIENCE being displayed. Trust me this would be good for a middle school field trip maybe but when I went the last 2 floors of the supposedly 6 floor museum was still under construction. That being said it tries its best to provide a tech/science outlet to downtown miami. Probably the best section of this place is either the lightroom or the aquatic section. P.S. I personally went here to take professional pictures so I pretty much covered the whole thing.
The childrens art room kept my kids busy for hours. Drawing, building, and playing on the Smart table. Wonder learning space!!!
Great place to visit to learn something ...
I dont know if it was the art displayed at the time. But I was thoroughly disappointed. A guy surrounded small islands w pink fabric had a whole floor dedicated to him. Kind of ridiculous.
Has decent space and is a very well kept place. There was a high variety of art pieces in this museum and the staff was very friendly.
Fabulous lectures, free admission and friendly staff to boot. Museum has interesting collections and space has such architectural hidden gems. The outdoor deck is a showpiece in itself.
The place is beautiful inside and out, with an artsy architecture of its own.Very nice and instructive guided tour offered by highly motivated and knowledgeable people, and very impressive infrastructure for holding complex art installations.A must-visit place for art lovers and history buffs altogether.
Very nice place to celebrate little childrens B/D parties
Nice place. But pretty far out. Pretty quick tour on your own.
Always good to explore something new...
The Patricia & Phillip Museum, in FIU, it is a great place to delight our senses and admire the art and culture of the people.
Really small not much to see they should add more exhibits the Frost museum is much better I recommend the Frost museum much more to see and its better
We really enjoyed all the creative activities. The art displays were not all kid friendly so we enjoyed the kids room most. It was clean, well stocked, and fun.
The museum is nice aesthetically, the design is modern and it has 3 stories. The main gallery is in the second floor and the paintings and art varies over time so you never get bored of passing by. It is free for students and has a variety of work from old master paintings to new modern art.
Great place for every one, you can enter free with the pass at the library
This inside of this museum is very beautiful. Here you will find interesting places for your kids. The staff is very interactive and helpful. You will definitely enjoy your visit.
Its Free. Nice art but its little so the tour took maybe 30 minutes, I wish it would have been longer
I love the place... I come here when I need to get away from the stress of school. It has beautiful expositions and the feeling of the whole place if amazing. Even if you are not much into art...I recommend visiting it at least once.
Modern museum. A couple of nice sculptures : 2000 year old Buddhas heads and 1830s stature of tribal rings around the neck.
Theres always unique exhibitions on display. The staff are always kind and helpful. And the ambient atmosphere allows one to focus deeply on what it is that theyre viewing. A great place.
Great museum and fun, educational activities for all ages.
The best part is the temporary social justice exhibitions on the ground floor.
Friendly pleasant place to view Art. Staff are very accommodating and Polite
Amazing. Way better than Miami museum!!! I gave it a 4 star b.c the day I went the planetarium shows were sold out.
Kids room is great
Its a pretty small museum on FIUs Modesto campus. Its free for FIU students and has some pretty well curated exhibits. Its a great space to escape whenever I have a break and feel artsy.
Surprisingly good artwork. Especially the 2D works by renowned sculptors. Definitely worth a visit....And its free! Good sculpture garden at the front too.
Soooooooo borringggggtgggggtttgf
Interesting experience. Cool and modern exhibitions.Made me think outside the box.The museum is also free of charge.
Amazing place love everything
Small place, but lots of content.
Very beautiful place with gorgeous sea creatures and huge tanks with large variety of fish and also very informational. Would recommend for families as it also has several places for kids. Very interactive staff as well.
Growing encyclopedic collection, beautiful double height galleries, interesting shows that bring in well known international and local artists, as well as student work, all for the price of free. If you are driving, it is dollar an hour to park in visitor parking nearby. Definitely worth a visit.
I love going to this musseum. I am an Fiu alumni and they are always changing the exhibitions which is very refreshing.
Nice place! I love it! I had the experience of have been there at Art Basel Fest .
It very interested because of the artwork and the designs
Awesome exposition
To be Fair, I was very exited about the many great attractions that this place promoted offering. Once inside, I realized what a rip off of a place it is. 6 floors and only 3 attractions. The remaining 3 floors offer empty pictures printed from a random website. If you are looking to waste your time in Miami, this is the place to go. I DO NOT RECCOMEND IT
I miss the old spot. The new space is wasted and too big and does not offer interesting shows except for the Aquarium.
A museum filled with wonder.....wondering where all the money went to. No labels on many exibits, very little content & confusing setup. If youre in the mood to kill an hour and learn less than a middle school science fair this is your place.
A perfect jewel of a museum. Dont miss the Dangerous Women exhibit which is all about women of the bible who have been considered dangerous in some form or other.
Located on the FIU campus this museum has diverse exhibitions.
Great artwork really should have had more stuff to see,, great place
Needs more interesting items.
Free to get in. $1.00 per hour to park. Exhibit did not flow. It dead ends on each floor. Too many editions and reproduction works i.e. No.123/500. I like for my museums to have original works. The front desk asked for I.D. when I walked in, Why? This is so annoying to me. Most likely they are trying to account for attendance but, it is still annoying. The place was of moderate size. Not a small or large place. I did enjoy seeing the F.I.U. campus. 3 stars.
Great kids activity room. Great museum. Shout it out. Tell the world.
Drove down from Palm Beach County to see this alleged powerhouse of a museum. Complete disappointment. The parking for the museum was full so we had to find a lot close by that services the Adrienne Arsht center. Not a crisis. What should have tipped me off that this experience was going to be a huge letdown was the entrance up to the museum. As a pedestrian entering from Biscayne you are walking up an unfinished driveway where the drop-off area is. I gathered that the pedestrian entrance is on the south side near Museum Park. Awkward at best. The museum itself was the strangest building Ive ever been in. I cant believe this was built from the ground up. It felt like a retrofitted parking garage turned museum. Nothing about navigating this place is easy. Stairwells lead to nowhere. Theres absolutely ZERO flow through. Ticket prices arent cheap and I can honestly say the best part of this museum had nothing to do with the exhibits but everything to do with the views, which were spectacular. Aside from that this place was a complete waste of an afternoon. Side note: Im not entirely certain why reviewers are complaining about the ticket queue. You do realize you can purchase tickets online right? Theres this thing called a smartphone. Its going to be huge....
I like it here. Its small, yes, but its also free, and I feel like what is there is very high quality. In response to the comment alleging racism, heres my experience: Yes, there is security everywhere and they were usually in every room I was in (Im white). I assumed they were doing their job, and its not a busy place at all, so they have nothing better to do but be extra vigilant. Its not like theyre standing over you theyre just in the same room. It didnt bother me.Snobbish? A bit. But its a freakin art museum, do they come any other way? All in all, as a person who is NOT an art aficionado, I love the place.
It is actually very nicely set up and clean as the whole of Fiu. Worth a visit
Nice exhibitions
My review is based on costumer service. Its awful--so far. If you visit their Instagram page, youll see its a common problem. So much time, effort & money invested in this museum. The least they can do is properly train their staff to be educated & professional. Very disappointed in treatment.
They had a great tour for kids.
Biggest waste of money. Nothing really interesting to see, and most of it seems to be catered to children. Parking is disgustingly overpriced. $8 for first hour and then $4 an hour after. Dont waste your time and money
Beautiful building, that probably cost many millions to build, wonderful views, but poor shows, they need to add more exhibitions, activities .
Awful, so small, art did not seem to go well together
Had a really nice visit to the 1st floor only. Very interactive and love that it is free.
My rating is really connected to the fact that this place really lacks having a fair amount of exhibits. Obviously youre not going to get MoMA from this place, but I really do feel like this museum, should really look into revamping their entire process with how they do their exhibitions.I went to this museum, when they were featuring the exhibit of some fashion designer that implemented art into his designs. I will say that it was beautifully placed. But other than that, there was only one other exhibit filled with just photographs of an Asian artist, doing interesting art with hair as their medium. But with that said, we are talking about only TWO exhibits, and this was during the Spring time. So its not like it was in the summer, because I would imagine that since it is located in a College campus, that they put less effort during the summer time.Regards of that fact, I really do believe that a museum needs to work towards always elevating themselves. That is what always brings people back to MoMA.This museum is literally located at FIU. A University that prides itself in Being World Ahead. So do us a favor and achieve that, especially with more than just one or two exhibits. I have high expectations, because who are we if we cant challenge ourselves to always improving our work?!
Wonderful workshop for teachers
Great exhibits!
This is some bull i needed to go here for my end of the school field trip and this is what i got wow... i guess if u are looking for a good place to waste your time then come here.
Amazing facility
Not worth it. Is the modern art tipe of museum. Lots of random things that means nothing... It is only 3 small rooms.
Love going to the museum. There is always great art to see
It isnt the largest nor the best museum Miami has to offer, but they do their best to keep it fresh, instructive, and an overall enjoyable experience for occasional visits.
Exhibition, customer service, location, parking, and fun!
Free admission and wonderful exhibits make this museum worth navigating the FIU campus. And now it has a Vicky Bakery!
Very beautiful place with lots of creatures and information, would recommend for a family, the shows are also very nice.
I would refer to the frost museum as a small gallery, however has displayed a wide collection.
One of the better museums in the area, although the exhibition area is small and its a reasonable drive from downtown. Its free, the exhibits change frequently and theres plenty of literature available at the reception desk. Parking in the metered spaces in the garages before the museum.
Beautiful museum with interesting exhibition. It has a sculpture garden
