I love blackwater creek! My fiancée and I love walking the trails. Its so peaceful not whole lot people there. My dog bubbah loves the dog park of it plenty of space for him to run around and got fountains for them too. The creek is so nice to listen to while you walk or to take a dip in. This park is great for kids and adults of all age. I highly recommend this park

Nice area for dogs, but there is zero accountability and it is in dire need of some structure. Too many people completely disregard the rules and regulations. Too many dogs have been injured or killed, because of that disregard.A few months ago, the dog I was watching was attacked by 3 other dogs, on 3 separate occasions, within a 2 hour period, through no fault of his own.People flippantly put small dogs in peril, taking them into the large dog area or taking large dogs into the small dog area. People refuse to clean up after their dogs. People constantly leave the gates open, not only between sections, but to the outside. People let their dogs roam outside of the fence line off leash, and have zero control of them.Its unfortunate, but I talk to more and more people all of the time, who refuse to utilize what could be a wonderful resource for Lynchburg, because of the people who insist on making it a dangerous place to go.The best thing that could happen to the park would be to privatize it, have supervision at all times, have people purchase a pass after proof of vaccination and training and hold people accountable for injuries and/or death.

It is a great place to take your dog. Very clean. The creekside trail has been abandoned, but you can still walk to the other Blackwater Creek trails if you skip the bridge across the creek and dont mind crossing a two lane highway once.

This is a very nice, large field with lights that make it possible to keep on practicing after dark. The grass is well- kept, and theres a bleacher-like set of steps built into the hillside. The only part that is inconvenient about this location is the small parking lot on the steep hill without lights.

I stopped at this park while I was out of town for work to get out of the hotel. I am glad that I did. I thoroughly enjoyed my walk along the creek, very peaceful and beautiful. Lots of butterflies and dragonflies fluttering about, and I had the pleasure of being in the presence of a young buck.

My pooch and I had a great time at the dog park.

And look clean well-kept up the people and dogs I saw were friendly so I will take my dog to the dog park

Great local trail system! Main trail is paved and flat, side trails are unpaved and more challenging. Beautiful views! A great place to walk, jog, bike, or bring furry friends!

Third time there and have always had good people and dogs. Nice area!

Trails are not paved. Dont want to go after a rain. Looked like dogs had fun in the off leash area.

A waterfall, cave path, and some neat bridges depending on how adventurous youre feeling.

I frequently use the public dog park at this location. The area is very well maintained and is always looking good. This area has an area for the dogs and area for the humans. The dogs have water provided and a hose to be washed off if they get dirty. There is a creek alongside the property and the Blackwater Creek trail system runs right through the property giving many options for people to do.

I have a 5 month old puppy that has never been off leash since I got him. He LOVED it!!!! He was actually smiling.

Dog park and hiking trail heads. Restrooms in warmer weather months. Porta potty near dog park. Park is divided for small and large dogs but sometimes one side closed for improvements. Too many dogs on weekends so go early or on weekdays. Having an off leash option is so nice. Most owners are responsible. If you get there with too much chaos in the dog park you can take a hike on leash instead.

3 stars because I love the trail system. The dog park is awesome, if no one else is there. I used to love the dog park for my 2 labs because its fenced so I dont have to worry about them jumping in a mudhole and can choose if they visit the creek or not. After today I do not think I will visit the dog park unless my dogs are the only ones there. There are too many irresponsible owners with troubled dogs who visit this place just to socialize. They do not even pay attention to there dogs or pick up there droppings. I have two labs, one only cares about human affection and the other only cares about tennis balls. Too many times there has been an aggressive dog there who wouldnt leave them alone that ended up in a fight where the owner was basically not paying attention. Having labs, my dogs are the only ones that get hurt because they are being defensive not aggressive. Visiting this place has cost me at least $ 2000 after fights and kennel cough which both of my dogs had current vaccinations for.

I took my new puppy to the dog park located within the Athletic Area. Being a puppy she needs to have social interaction with other dogs. The d.p. is a great asset to the parks system.

Nice clean area to relax

This area is definitely getting improved from what it looked like even a year ago. Only reason its not getting 4 stars is because what is available is limited based on what youre looking for. Theres a dog park, a large athletic field, and a trail that links back towards the blackwater trail system. There are no swings or playsets for those with young ones, but the quality of the visitors has significantly improved!
