Want black history and knowledge this is a amazing place to visit off of Pierce St. Free of charge to go and learn about a huge piece of Historical African American culture...
My mother and I visited this home and garden today and enjoyed learning about Anne Spencer and her involvement in the Harlem Renaissance and the dedication of her whole family to improving the lives of African Americans. This place is truly a gem of Lynchburg and an absolute must see! You will get a personal tour from Anne Spencers beautiful granddaughter who has tirelessly worked to restore the property and to preserve her grandmothers legacy. I will highly recommend it to family and friends. You wont be disappointed!
This place is s a true gem. What an amazing glimpse in to an incredibly important part of Lynchburgs history!
This place is precious! Love exploring it over and over again during every season. Its a little plot of respite in the middle of a busy city.
Beautiful garden.
A wonderful place to visit. Tours are given by Anne Spencers granddaughter who brings the house and garden to life. Anne and her husband Edward were remarkable people.
My daughter and I visited and greatly enjoyed the tour of the home and gardens. Anne Spencers grand-daughter led our tour and provided such heartwarming stories about her family. It is humbling to walk through a home that was resided in and visited by so many great artists. This is truly a national treasure.
Nice place to enjoy the beautiful flowers of spring .
Did not know about the rich history in Lynchburg. Had a family reunion luncheon there
So pretty when in bloom
Beautiful gardens and historic home of Lynchburgs harlem renaissance poet Anne Spencer. A woman ahead of her time! The garden is open during daylight hours, but you have to call ahead to schedule a tour of the house. Its worth it!
