Very nice place to immerse yourself in local history. The students did an amazing job and the guide Valerie was so sweet and informative. I loved The foamcore art, very creative and has lots of artistic potential. The clay engravings surprised me at how well different artists can coordinate because at first glance they appear to be done by the same artist. By August of 2019 theyll have a special exhibit for athletes. Be sure to call ahead and ask about hours, especially if youre driving far. Well worth your time and money
Beautiful place to take your children . A new theme every 2 years and it’s so well kept !
Only open by appointment. I didnt know that until i arrived.
It was a wonderful experience to tour the Legacy Museums newesr exhibition - The Development of an Athlete and to attend the unveiling of the historical marker for Marjorie Hill, one of the founding members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
Great place with alot of history, for African American, history on hill city
Good experience and good history, especially in the back garden.
It was awesome to see the paintings of my family displayed here! This is a great place to visit. A small gem with a bright shine!
The guide was amazing. She was very knowledgeable about Lynchburg and the historical information. The artifacts were outstanding. The atmosphere was very warm.
We drove out at the hours on Saturday at 1:30 and no one was there. A huge waste of time.
They have really nice exhibits and are very friendly. This museum is underfunded and needs more community support but they are doing a great job.
I love this museum! Such a wealth of information. I enjoyed the authentic artifacts the museum displays. I will definitely visit again.
Learn alot of history inside
The Legacy Museum is a well kept secret in Lynchburg. It preserves the history of Lynchburg and the surrounding counties of Amherst, Appomattox, Bedford, and Campbell counties for African Americans. It collaborates with the Museum system in Lynchburg and other local historical sites to provide the complete picture of history in Central Virginia. It is well worth a side trip to take in the current music exhibit and future artistic exhibit coming in the summer of 2017.
Great experience and knowledgeable staff.
