Great place to take small children to play and feed bucks and geese. Watch out the geese can be mean. Good paved paths for walking, running and biking

The home of thousands of Canada Geese every fall, plus a large population of Mallards...A few GreatBlue Herons, 2 or three Double Crested Cormorants, 8 very large domestic geese of some sort, and finally, a half dozen Northern Shovelers. I love them all...the playa lake at Hoel Park @ Lubbock TX!

The catfish hunting is excellent (do NOT eat lol), tons of small to medium cats reeled in using BAR-S hot dog skins on a 2 ft-ish bobber between 8 and 25 ft out. Great shade tree spots on each side of the pond, around the clock. Perfect for little ones to learn and be excited about fishing, yet when the inevitable small child boredom kicks in, the playground is close by and easy to see. Highly recommend.

Never knew about the little lake and would have never thought they would have good size fish.

I found the park to be well keeped and serene. The playground equipment and benches were an attractive feature that seemed to draw in community people who seemed to enjoy them. The park is well lighted and has two lighted tennis courts. The courts needed to be resurfaced and regulation nets need to be installed. I understand using the linked fencing for nets is a low budget, low maintenance stopgap but real nets would add to the park quality. I enjoy going there.

Love this park. Has a 1 mile loop. Free people lateral in the evening. Nice neighborhood. Always feel safe here. Would recommend to other casual walkers. If you are a runner you may encounter few water stations and more people than desired. Lastly, not enough sitting areas.

This park needs someone to clean the picnic area and add bathrooms. We had a birthday party for my family. My mom, grandparents and i myself is disabled & theres no bathrooms the elderly have incontinence and cant make it to leave to go to bathrooms that are 1 mile away.
