I love this area! Tons of paths to walk around and look at the water or sculptures, loads of open areas, benches, picnic tables, grills, bathrooms, a playground, and I love most the swings. Theres a whole area that just swings and there are even lights strung up, so I guess those can come on at night. All with a great view of the river and the bridges. And sculptural quality of the hills in some areas can sort of divide up groups so you can feel like you have a section to yourself without seeing other families.
I use to be stationed in Ft. Knox early 2000 and came back here for my son’s wedding the other day and what a difference the city of Louisville has done to its waterfront areas. The bridges have a total make over with fresh paint, new pillars, new look, neon bright lights for the night life and the parks and river walk is pretty cool. The improvements are astonishing and what the city needed. Unfortunately, COVID has distracted many from visiting here but has not totally kept away some people who still find it important to add to landscape.
Despite what people say it’s always a calm environment with ample security. Been coming since it’s creation. Very nice compared to MANY cities “waterfronts”
Waterfront Park is about 80 acres of green along the Ohio River in Louisville. I lived in Louisville for a couple of years and this a must see site. Like many midwestern and southern towns, Louisville finally took advantage of revitalizing an older shore line and theyve done an excellent job. You can bike and picnic in the area. There are regular events like fireworks. The Belle of Louisville is not far away. Theres a water fountain for children. During events and concert they will have vendors. Other than that, there is no local, non-chain restaurant at the park. To enjoy locally-owned eateries turn inland a few blocks and youre in midtown Louisville. It is definitely worth a visit.
Very nice, clean and attractive park for walking, biking, and running. Lots of benches to sit on, BBQ grilled and bathrooms are also available. Free parking. Place to rent bikes. Pizza restaurant as well as seafood restaurant. You can also catch a river cruise or sunset dinner close by.
A lot of fun by the river with a nice walk on the bridge. Rent a bike or scooter to move around. Beautiful view of Louisville downtown. Spending a whole day to relax watching the river, boats, and the planes
This was my first time visiting the Waterfront Park. I was there for a riverboat cruise. My views were great and there was adequate parking at a reasonable price. The attendant who took our money when we parked was kind and very helpful. She gave excellent customer service!
Nice little park with running and biking trails along the water. Industrial vibe, with some kids play park included.
I love the walking bridge. There is a diverse atmosphere of unity I visit here often.
It was a beautiful day to walk down by the river. One of the best river parks I’ve ever been to and walking around it in the fall was magical. You can walk down to Big Four Bridge and cross the Ohio River into Indiana if that’s your thing. There are sculptures and monuments along the way to stop and enjoy. Also has an awesome park for the kids. After a busy weekend it was the perfect wind down to the day. Also happened to find the homeless man who stole our bags from our car the night before and get it all back.Great time!
Really nice quiet waterfront park, I enjoyed sitting in a riverside bench swing and reading my book.
The park is beautiful and the pedestrian bridge was awesome. The no scooters on the bridge needs to be inforced and if people cant ride bicycles with other people in mind they should be eliminated as well. Other then other peoples careless behaviour, its a really park.
I rode my little electric bike all the way down the river past The locks. Then I stopped at Joes Crab Shack got a carry out and ate on a bench by the river. Was a wonderful day
Great place to walk, jog, or bike. Well lit at night. Enjoy the many bench swings. Dont miss the flock of chicken statues!
Had a blast at waterfront Park walking bike riding hiking the walking Bridge the yogurt shop across the bridge
So amazing to walk on this bridge. The history of this bridge was astounding. It was so beautiful to be able to look on either side and see Louisville. At the end of the bridge you enter Indiana. I would recommend this for a family outing, pictures, tourists, biking, walking or just a stroll.
Stunning views mixed with a beautiful day equals one of the best park experiences out there. The waterfront offers plenty of things to do for anyone, tons of seating, and many food options are near by. 10/10 one of the best parks around.
A Beautiful Day to exercise. We walked the Walking Bridge.
So much to do here! Loved the bench swings and the lovely gardens along the mighty Ohio river and the impressive bridges that span it. Excellent use of public space.
A great place for a walk along the river.
This park is a very family oriented place. There is plenty of space to do whatever your family or mate would like to do. Rent bikes, different types to chose ( please remember to wear a helmet). They have a concert series at the Big Four bridge during the summer. Concert venues come and go all year long. Theres a playground for the kiddies and also a water playground. The great lawn is perfect for sitting and enjoying the day, flying a kite, fishing. Sports or whatever you like to do in a big open area. So enjoy and remember to be safe and have fun. Enjoy folks,my family and I sure do.
I wanted someplace free as well as relaxing.....I found an awesome gem!! The park is right next to the river and has walking paths. From what I see many visit here to jog, walk or just sit in the park on one of the many benches. The views of the several bridges are gorgeous and as you can see walking on the paths one can get many great scenic photos. There are many bathrooms, although maintained with the basics....don’t look up as the spiderwebs prevail overhead. It is kinda noisy with road traffic on the bridges overhead but somehow relaxing too. Parking is free and the scenery is worth the stop!!!!
This is a wonderful park in a wonderful place. The kids had a great time and ample room to run and play.Fortunately we got to experience Thunder Over Louisville while there and it blew my mind. What a spectacular day!Well done Louisville!
Beautiful spot! Went over the walking bridge and that was a great experience. Def would recommend to visit. Will be back.
What an absolutely beautiful park nestled along the Ohio River. You can’t even begin to imagine my daughter and my surprise when we pulled into the parking lot under the bridges and found this treasure right in the city! We were visiting Lexington from PA and decided to take a trip over to Louisville for the day. The day we spent in Louisville ended up being my favorite of all of our 11 days in Kentucky. We’ll be back to Waterfront Park in 2019! I cannot wait!!
I love it here. Great place to be when the sun starts to fall. Pretty cool @ night to walk across the bridge.
Love this wonderful outdoor space. So many excellent events happen year round. Today was the first day of Waterfront Wednesday night. Great bands, good food and beverages!
Great place to go walking, grab a bite to eat and have great views
Great and relaxing place to get some walking done it was beautiful as the sun set
Love it. Beautiful place along the river. They have amazing concerts and festivals here. The view is wonderful and its just great all the way around. Anyone coming to Louisville KY should definitely stop by and take the view in
Cool park in downtown. Runs along the river. Plenty of benches. Play ground equipment still closed due to COVID. Nice walk with our pup.
It is a great park. Amazing playground and free parking right in front of water.
What a nice view. A walk on this lane is quiet relaxing.
We went to the chow wagon here. It was alot of fun. Great food, great live music, even went on a helicopter ride!
Always a nice spot, have been coming there since I was a kid. Always maintained for the most part and a great are to set up a blanket and have some sandwiches from Morriss deli!
Fireworks at Waterfront were fabulous this year. Pretty sure this was our first trip to Louisville that didnt include a walk across the Big Four and back, but who knows? Maybe on the way home?
I belong to Mumbai. Waterfront park is Mumbais Marine Drive in Louisville to me. You can stroll in the park, there are benches and swings for you to relax. Occasionally you see huge, literally huge ships sailing in the Ohio River. You can walk on the walking bridge that connects Indiana.
My home away from home always a good atmosphere and peaceful
Great park on the shore of Ohio River. Quite peaceful and a good place for outdoor activities for both, adults and kids. The parking is free and there is a childrens play area just as you enter the place. There are tracks for cycling and trails. Beautiful views of two bridges on either side - I-64 on one side and I-65 on another. When we went there were people with their kids learning cycling or playing on their own in the play area. There were people jogging or just having a leisure walk along the trail. There were a couple of adults playing various outdoor games. Some of the trees are perfectly apart to tie a hammock and relax reading your favorite book. There are benches and large swings where you can sit back and enjoy the view.Overall, a great place to be if you want to take a moment off from the busy life and enjoy the nature for a while.
A very nice clean and open green space very close to Louisvilles downtown. Lovely sculptures.
I remember when this park first started and have truly enjoyed watching it develop over the years! Its beautiful! There is an amazing view and several parks in one of all different styles. Its very unique and the walking bridge was a great addition!
The kickoff of the Kentucky Derby Thunder over Louisville is one of the best firework and air show display in the US hands down and it was once again on the 13 of April. If you didnt go this year plan it for next year this is a gotta see event for all ages big or small. For those who attended this year welcome to Louisville, KY and welcome to THUNDER; see you all next year.
The best Park around louisville ky
One of the best city parks around. Great space to just kick back, relax, and watch the river float on by. Also a great place for a music festival!
The kids had a great time visiting downtown for Forecastle. Parking was my so bad, so long as you keep up with the meter. Plenty of police to keep the public safe.
Walking bridge is great for some exercise, little water park is fun for the kids in the summer, food available
Fun and free family entertainment. Splash pad and walking bridge all with a waterfront view. Parks and other playgrounds available.
Louisville Metro Parks has done a fantastic job of making this place enjoyable and LMPD is doing a great job of keeping it safe. Its a wonderful place for some good photography and an amazing place for a walk/jog.
We had a great time at the Louisville funk fest!!! Everything was really nice we felt appreciated!! The food vendors were good also.
We had a great time walking across and back. Highly recommend for families.
Great waterfront Wednesday.
Waterfront Wednesday is a free concert on the river. It isnt every Wednesday so check the a schedule before you come. They get some really great bands. The show today had Dylan LeBlanc, Adia Victoria, and Bridge 19.
This is a great place for many different activities. Great for family outings. Great for any age activities for all.
I really like this park. Now you can walk over the bridge and get to Indiana.Normally we walk and then drink one beer in any bar in Indiana, then walk back to Louisville.
Great family atmosphere. Beautiful weather, and a fun and insightful event. Louisville Water Lantern Festival.
Great place to visit to clear your mind while watching the river flow. Walk. Jog. Sit on a bench or have a picnic. Kid friendly as well.
Great spot to enjoy some walking along with a beautiful view of the water.
Beautiful foor bridge! Great views from every way that you look! Please visit this breathtaking place if you are in Louisville!
Very cool place. Would highly recommend if youre looking for a nice day of relaxing
I love this place, I might move here just for this park
Nice place but some of the people there were doing things that should of been reported
Took my son there for a walk. Found out you have to pay $3.00 at a kiosk. You have to put in your parking spot and your license plate #. I went on down a little found free parking then rented a lime scooter. It was $0.39 a mile and a 1.00 activation fee. FYI. But the park was clean a couple homeless on a bench.
This area is great for relaxing on any sunny day. The walking trail along the river leading to the walking bridge is a favorite activity for taking out of town guests. There are lots of nice areas to park unless there is an event then its a mess and good luck and God help your soul.
Nice place to walk around.
The park is clean. Nice trails to walk. Beautiful views of downtown, Joes Crab Shack is nearby, the Big Four Bridge, and you can cross the bridge to Jeffersonville Indiana. The playgrounds & Restrooms are accessible & usually clean. Several sprinklers & water structures to enjoy with your family. Plenty of parking. Close to Louisville Slugger Field.
I went to see Thunder over Louisville here the venue all together is really nice, there are plenty of nice areas to set up a chair or seats if you get there before theyre all gone. There was a bit of litter from the overwhelming amount of people there and not enough sanitation to take care of it.
A beautiful park to meander along the Ohio, watching the many ducks as they paddle up and down the river. It was chilly and windy the day I visited, but that didn’t take away from the serenity I found in the park with my friends.
The park is beautiful, the walking bridge is great, and they always have great special events at the waterfront.
Great family orientation... Good for romantic picnics... Great for excersise... Etc
Walk the bridge to Jeffersonville and try a nice brewery or gastropub. It will be a nice day. Lie in the sun in the great lawn and enjoy another nice day.
Love it here. Theres always something to do during the summer. Nice place to take the whole family to even your pets. I like walking my dog here.
Beautiful scenery and enjoyable waterfront. Nice place to stop by.
Here for thunder over Louisville 2019. Lots of people. Beautiful park any other time.
Beautiful place to go for walk or take the bike out
A must see if you plan on viewing the river from a good vantage point. Also good if you’re a runner or biker, although be careful as when it gets crowded as biking may be more difficult. Taking the bridge to the other side is well worth the trek.
Went on a business trip with my husband and we walked across the bridge one evening after dinner. Started about dusk. Lights on the bridge are gorgeous, views are amazing. Jeffersonville looks like a neat town to visit. Lots of people walking, jogging and riding bikes, but never felt crowded and always felt safe. Only complaint is watçh for dog poo, it wasnt bad, just a couple.of people didnt pick it up, which left us guessing where to step trying to remember where it was exiting the bridge after dark.
This park has such lovely views, I really enjoyed my time there. Gotta love Louisville
Have the bathrooms open for people to use them ..so we can enjoy are self why we there..
The parks are clean, festive, colorful, and enjoyable. The Louisville Rowing Club is close by, and several boating slips are nearby, including the Dragon Boat I paddle with other breast cancer survivors. These parks are a little difficult to get to, but River Road comes into town and turns South onto Preston Street. The closest bus stop to the park is a mile and a quarter away, so public transportation is little to nil. Parking can be tedious, too, but once you are there, the park is fun.
Really neat area. Several fun playgrounds, a huge splash pad, walking paths, benches, and picnic tables spread along the river. We walked across the Big Four pedestrian bridge and back. Great views!
A great walk on the bridge with great views
Very beautiful place at night, very in love with the view. Very quiet and peaceful, you can walk the bridge feeling relaxed.
Great place at night to take the dogs and the boyfriend
This whole place was really great. There was a hot dog truck. Like a real one. Apparently they actually exist.
Beautiful park to walk and play
I loved it. I enjoyed my walk over the bridge. At night all the birds just chilling on the grass
At Waterfront Park by the Big Four Bridge for Waterfront Wednesday. Great free music concert series for everyone. Close to the bridge, you can take a walk to Indiana and back if so inclined. There is lots of shade to sit in while waiting for sunset.Vendors for food and drink. No dogs or coolers allowed (they check). Bike racks for those choosing environmentally friendly transportation. Swings in the park are great for just chillin. You can people watch, river watch, relax, or let the music make you move. There is parking in the park’s parking lots, but they fill quickly for events. Be prepared to park on a side street and walk a bit.Always fun, it is great for families with young kids, teenagers, or singles/couples. Check it out and have some fun.
Awesome place very beautiful landscape and view of the river and city
Go there daily well maintained beautiful peaceful always something new to see
Lovely
4th of July event was mesmerizing
Very cool waterfront area with great views
Water was still a lil cold but definitely refreshing on a hot day.
Its a very friendly area, but the restrooms are not very clean, or well kept. They could also put more trash cans around, but besides those things it us a beautiful park, with lots of trees, and nice paved waking paths.
