I attended the soy candle making workshop led by Craft Contemporary owner, Erica. I truly enjoyed this class! Erica was thorough and resourceful. You can tell she really cares about everything she creates in the way she shared her knowledge w/ those of us in the class.
A very nice small museum. Strong content and experiences. Easy to navigate. Parking reasonably nearby. What art galleries should be.. Good atmosphere, considerate staff, very relaxed environment. Easy to navigate. Parking reasonably nearby. What art galleries should be. The workers here are beautiful souls! Such nice people. great EXPERIENCE WITH Craft Contemporary
It was a lot better than I expected. There should be a time limit for each photo because the group of people in front of us took too long which created a line. Overall great experience and was able to get a lot of good pictures. I also purchased my tickets on Groupon they have a great deal!
I ventured here for the first time just last Thursday, and even though I was exploring solo, I had SO MUCH FUN. Seriously, this is just one big party and youre invited. Even without knowing another soul, I still felt included and a part of something awesome.
Have been here a few times. Last time for the paper exhibit. Wonderful viewing space, friendly staff, and nice gift shop. The nearest parking I found is across the street at the Page Museum.
Neat installations but know its not very big. Still enjoyed!
L.A.s contemporary is a great space, that is impossible not to notice. The building is a lovely lemon light calling out to passersby. We walked in by chance, on a day we were visiting the tar pits across the way. Fortunately, there was an artist talk, and of course, handmade everything.
Excellent art, very intriguing and diverse artists as well as a commitment to displaying art from artists who would likely be ignored by more elitist art museums. Good atmosphere, considerate staff, very relaxed environment. Easy to navigate. Parking reasonably nearby. What art galleries should be.
The workers here are beautiful souls! Such nice people. The exhibit they have for Pride is very interesting and the artists that are showcased are very talented. Also, i got this free paper weight
A little gem. Its so unique. The store had some amazing art to! I love that they are always making workshops to invite the community . Love this place
It was donate what you can day so that lured us in. My friend was very excited and looked at all the wares for sale. The fuzzy exhibit was neat. One friend was very impressed with the art upstairs but my other friend was not. The art did not seem to fit folk. There were beautiful canvases with meaningful messages, but very modern and did not fit the craft definition I expected. The art did not call to me, I was most impressed with the beautiful wood floors and the colors used to fill the cracks and chips on the cement.
Beautiful and thought provoking exhibits. Friendly staff
A very nice small museum. I have been six or so times and each time the exhibits were interesting.Exhibits generally give a good perspective on a particular craft, its history, with good examples of work from modern practioners. For instance the bamboo weaving exhibit had work from 10 or so different artists, videos of work being done, and a brief historical summary. Also has a good gift shop
Small museum, well curated. Interesting exhibits. Take about an hour or less to see it.
Interesting, cutting-edge shows. Small and intimate; great little gift shop.
Fun place with great classes.
Beautiful items there and good prices!
Before just doing work. Some prices a little more expensive, others cheaper.
This is a small museum, with delightful work. It surprised me how much I love this museum. The art showcased is astonishing in terms of depth, detail, and process. Its a museum that makes you slow down and take many deep looks in their offerings. Their book store also has hidden treasures.
Did not love. Not very craft centric in the traditional sense of the word. A photography exhibit and a very sparsely arranged metal construction exhibit that was really reaching to be worthy of exhibiting. Just not interesting and not enough pieces.. read and viewed everything and was out in way under two hours. Disappointed. Shop was quite nice.
Excellent program and exhibit.nice people and friendly staff...a hidden gem!
Attended a craft night here. They do a craft night on the first Thursday of every month for $12 (for non members). Includes drinks and a snack. Good idea for a date night!
Beautiful & Wonderful little museum in LA, the workshop they had with baker, pottery, beer, farmer, cheese maker, was completely hands-on, amazing experience and such a mind-thrill to think of how the disciplines can integrate, interact, and build creatively off of each other. The staff were incredible, really friendly and gave us a very comfortable community opportunity. Highly recommend their events.
Great event making clay cups, spoons, saucers. Complimentary wine a nice touch. Lovely hosts.
Love the art and just looking around
Took an intro clay class back in September and never received the fired items that I made. They said it would take about 2 weeks to fire all the pieces and then they would email us. Never received an email and it’s been months. They also double charged my card for the class and never resolved it. I contacted them multiple times about the issue and they stated they would take care of it but they never did.The instructors at the class were great and knowledgeable. However, the follow through and lack of communication is unacceptable. If you are going to have a class like this at least attempt to send out a mass email to participants to keep them informed. With all the different art class experiences in LA I would not go back here.
Good for people that like museums but want to see something a little different. Really enjoyed it there. Very nice and welcoming staff.
Excellent exhibits. People cant miss it. Everything is worthy of awe. Beautiful place to visit and buy handcrafted articles.
Smaller than you think but its a lot of neat art. Plus this is a look at art you normally dont get to look at presented with the sophistication they deserve. Sundays are donation pay what you can if youre on a budget!
Went to a workshop that was very affordable and fun! Museum shop is full of cute stuff too!
Dont expect quilts and quaint wooden toys hand-decorated with milk paint. This museum holds its own in quality and depth of consideration of its narrow category of art, even though it sits almost literally in the shadow of the gigantic (in the abstract and concrete meaning of the word) Los Angeles County Museum of Art across the street. I have found them to be especially good at putting up good pieces from the African continent. The most recent visit I made there was occasioned by a reading given by a UCLA poet, an event that made great use of a wonderful upstairs gallery space. Not sure whether the poetry did more to enhance the art or the other way around, but I can vouch for the fact that it was a great way to spend an evening. Ill be back for more.
A must see boutique craft and folk art museum. Great gift shop
On Sundays the museum is donate what you can entry. Ultimately its not that big of a museum though. Interesting work, but I dont know if its worth a full price entry- but hey, youre supporting the arts.
Beautiful & Wonderful little museum in LA, the workshop they had with baker, pottery, beer, farmer, cheese maker, was completely hands-on, amazing experience and such a mind-thrill to think of how the disciplines can integrate.
Strong content and experiences.
Our kids enjoyed this place. Thank you.
Small, interesting, building itself the best part.
Such an awesome museum! always has great exhibits, and offers great classes/workshops. the staff is fantastic and the gift store is awesome too!
Great space.
I planned this out for my family last month only to leave after 5 min. I felt so uncomfortable and unwelcomed. I will never recommend anyone to come here it was such an ugly experience.
Marisela in the front is so nice. Steered me in the right direction!
This was a really nice experience. I look forward to returning.
Great programs for school field trips. Amazing staff, fascinating exhibits. A must do for art lovers!
One of my favorite places in Los Angeles. Unusual exhibits and the workshops are fun.
Always find really interesting things, cover is a little pricy given the size but they have a great little shop as well
Quaint and Quirky Museum with a stunning appearance and awesome style throughout. An interesting place you must experience.
Come here first, then go to LACMA, you wont be disappointed.
Great staff! Always unexpected and informative.
Very worth a visit, absolutely worth multiple visits because of their pay what you can pricing and rotation exhibits/shows/collections!
Nice place to walk around.
Intimate space, great exhibits. A nice counterpoint to the big space at LACMA. I often find more to mull here at CAFAM. Plus, they have lots of regular events, including craft nights, talks, tours, and music.
A very funky little museum right across from the Tar Pits.Worth the walk through to see what new installations theyve up.
If youre a DIY nut or crafter, run, dont walk to CAFAM. Get workshops and classes and even better exhibits. Love this place!
Great place to visit and just enjoy makers art
Excellent museum to visit along with a super friendly staff.
Not a lot to do here, unfortunately. Staff is friendly, premises are clean, just suffers from being small.
Hidden gem of a museum with great curation
A very small museum. Very cool exhibits.
The place was open but their museum is closed until October 2018
Good place to be with friends.
Unique exhibitions and a wonderful gift shop!
Go here if you want to see arts and craft exhibits.
Very Good.
Small but unique
Support handmade!
Cool place !
I LOVE it
Not worth the time. If you walk slow& look through the window, youve seen it.
