The hall was nice and clean and the temperature was set very low to prevent overheating during the concert. I don’t think many places do that, so I was thankful for that. I do wish there were more bathrooms because it is hard to move through all of the crowd when you’re at a concert just to get to the back of the venue. Overall, it was a good place for a concert. Great views of the stage too!
The space was beautiful. Inside was lovely. Sadly if you are a little bit on the plus side, you may not be as comfy in their seats.Other then that, it was great. Staff was very kind and professional. Bathrooms where super nice and clean! Highly recommend to come here. We went here for #BE3 and it was the best time ever.
Beautiful site specially on top or the parking better downtown site (I see you )
Another example of beautiful architecture. The acoustics are great! Love how there is a bar in the lobby on each floor. The seats are a bit odd if youre wearing material that grabs onto the upholstery. Theres also zero leg space for anyone 57 and taller - your knees will be up against the seat in front of you (of course, thats not an issue in a high energy show where youll be standing and dancing).
It is such a beautiful building inside and out. If you have the chance to see a performance there I would highly recommend it.
The Shrine is one of my favorite concert venues in Los Angeles. Its intimate yet can still fit quite a decent amount of people - has solid acoustics - and a decent amount of bars to go off and explore.Do expect a decent security check before you get in but they are fairly quick.Parking-wise, they have parking in front of the venue although I found it better to go around and park nearby (its of course a crazy show getting out).Ive been here now for three concerts (mostly EDM tom my recollection) and loved each and every one. Find yourself whether at the front (come early) or at the back where you can dance your heart out or if you have VIP in the top corners. Always was able to hear the music well and see the artist perform clearly. Each artist seemed to always have a good control of the stage and be able to put up there whatever they wanted to good effect. And the people usually have been pretty good - havent had a terrible people experience yet.Theres multiple bars too so you shouldnt wait too long for a drink. Pricing is what you expect for a concert venue (+$10) so just be aware.
The Shrine Auditorium a beautiful classy place. My fiancé and I attended a concert there for 2 cellos. The staff was cordial and the service they provided was above average. The architecture and other details of this historical place are stunning. I definitely recommend if you get a chance to come visit to do it. You wont regret it.
Its an indoor venue with a balcony (second floor). Huge floor space for standing no seats. Two bars. Two of each restrooms. Pretty simple place. Drinks were $10 each; ex: red bull, margarita. Cards accepted. Across from USC and near Coliseum. Parking was $20, cheaper than Lyft or Uber which cost us $50 both ways.
This place is perfect for concerts I like this venue its a lot bigger than the Wiltern but it has the same qualities that I look for, its got the nostalgic look and it has balconies like you see in opera houses or old movies and looks great. The seats are comfortable and plenty of them on the second row as well as the top, and they have this section off VIP area that if you sit next to it on the far left or right can come in handy to sit your drinks on with the wall rail that separates your seat something to keep in mind. The pit area is about maybe 200 to 250 people max i would estimate but depending on whos playing they can adjust it less so another thing to keep in mind because that area could sell out quick. Parking was easy right next to it so come early to get a good space and avoid the crowds, especially because your in USC town so you will deal with that traffic around the venue, but you got 4 areas to park you can park on the street but good luck finding a spot again this is USC town. The bathrooms are a bit confusing at first because you go to either the left or right side once you walk in and theres a staircase going downstairs and thats the bathroom located, not sure if theres any upstairs the second floor. Before you get to the staircase for the bathroom right in front youll have the snacks and drinks for your consumption this was on the left side of the venue I dont know if the same thing is on the right.
Gave my daughters the best Christmas gift ever.. Reunion concert for My Chemical Romance
Went to see Virtual Self (Porter Robinson) this past Thursday and his LIVE performance was amazing. I always love the shrine
It was our first time at The Shrine and Lenny Kravitz Perform. And both were awesome!!!The Staff were very nice. Parking is close by. It is a beautiful theatre...
This venue is great with plenty of secure parking available if attending a concert. The venue has many bars inside and are well done. The seating inside is all standing for concerts as this space has no permanent seating. VIPs are balconies. Parking lots charge a fee around $20-25 look at video of you want to be infront by stage arriving early is strongly recommended.
Great small venue although so hot people were dropping like flies even before the show started
Visited for an EDM concert. This venue was one of my favorites. I love the layout, and it seems small but can fit actually a surprising amount of people, and it felt spacious, especially when u wanna walk around. Lots of cool bars to grab water or drinks, has cool upper level too. The sound system was really well balanced, they definitely invested in a good sound setut (the bass absolutely hits hard).
Well maintained historical venue from Southern Californias early Tinsel Town days. Its now used as an exhibition hall for ceremonies. Went here for a graduation, but would recommend setting aside time to appreciate all of the Expo area in DTLA.
Such a beautiful venue! Acoustics are much better if you stand on the balcony. It doesnt sound as good if youre on the first floor
Amazing venue, well organized, I had the time of my life at the My Chemical Romance concert.
Good sound, they had it cool and comfortable which was awesome. Security needed to be more attentive to what was happening with the crowd rushes, but they handed out lots of water which was great. Also one of the speakers cut out for a while, but they fixed it pretty quickly.
This is specific to the concert I just saw at the Shrine Expo Hall (the adjacent theater is a completely different venue under the same roof- many of you might not realize that)Here goes...I dont want to say many bad things about this venue because I have been to many a concert experiences here that I have loved despite its drawbacks (if you dont like general admission concerts or you expect a luxury box option, this isnt the place for you) and despite the easy comparisons to new, modern venues where it falls short (which I already mentioned). So for a true historic, traditional great time out, see a general admission concert at the Shrine Expo Hall. It is decently maintained (better in recent years) and the staff is very friendly including the security staff outside the venue that does a really good job of being friendly while enforcing their entry policies properly. Inside security staff are also very friendly and respectful too. They dont feel like concert gestapo at all! Thank you! Their concessions staff is very polite and all work very hard at making the drinks quickly and moving the line rapidly also. The venue is rich in historic significance and you can see that before the lights go down by exploring the awesome exterior Moroccan themed turrets and archways and the detail that went into everything before you go in.More of the same with the interior. The carpets and paint look new. The bathrooms are well maintained, and the light fixtures and details inside are beautiful (do yourself a favor and look around before you stare at the stage). Look up before the lights go down. The ceiling detail and the balcony wrapping around the expo hall U-shape on the 2nd floor has some truly incredible detail work and carving inlays.Yes, its cavernous, but you dont have to squish your way to the front to have a great experience. The sight lines everywhere are great, the sound is very good (well, it gets a bit heavy on the bass the further back you go), and even at full capacity, you can find room to move.Easy exiting too as they open up a huge bank of exit doors that lead directly out to the street.Easily accessible via public transit from the west side or downtown via the Expo Line, exit the USC/Jefferson station. Its $3.50 round trip versus the $20 - $30 charge to park nearby at some of the adjacent USC structures (plus your gas expense). And probably takes you less time on Light Rail to get there. Now that USC University Village is open about a block away at Jefferson and Hoover you are also within safe walking distance of some great, affordable, casual places to grab a meal and a drink before heading in.BIG LITTLE KNOWN BONUS: Their on site box office is open every Thursday from 12pm to 5pm where you can buy tickets with NO FEES in person for upcoming available shows.Have fun!
I went to the Star Wars: The Last Jedi Premier at the Shrine. I havent been here in years. Such an amazing theatre and a classic room. But they really need to update the seats - they are built for the smaller people of the 1930s and the bathrooms - which feel like a high school locker room. These are pictures from the premier - amazing how they turned the Shrine into another world.
Beautiful building. Would love to see a performance here.
The line in was expedient. The security was well enforced. No pods but batteries were allowed in. There were metal detectors and small patdowns, overall a quick security check. The sound was good, but im sure it varies from place to place. The reverb was excellent for an electronic music.
Great Expo Hall and shrine. Great event too but all the drinks were severely over priced. That encourages pre-gaming and can lead to some of what security and EMT dealt with this event. Lower your overhead.
That’s where I wanted to meet Aly & AJ on 2006, so I been there last year?
I went today to the shrine auditorium for a political event. much of the facility is in beautiful shape but Ive got to be honest that the main auditorium needs some updates. Parking was really easy and a little bit on the expensive side but it is downtown Los Angeles. One thing that Ive learned in the last couple of days of telling otherswho are longtime residents of Los Angeles never call it the Shriner auditorium it is the shrine auditorium. I look forward to going back and seeing it updated a little bit
A beautiful facility with a variety of hosting capabilities. However, whoever designed the building was not taking into consideration traffic flow (like most of LA). Parking and commuting is a whole pre-planning in itself if you are coming here for an event.
The Shrine is an excellent midsize venue for concerts! It is a historical venue theatre and it is close to USC downtown. The seating is somewhat confusing and I needed to be directed by staff members to find my seat, but once I did I really enjoyed the concert and the acoustics were excellent. I parked in a parking structure across the street for $15. Plenty of restaurants are within a short walking distance. Leave extra time to park because the area around USC is always congested with traffic.
It’s very useful place!! Go and meet 2cellos. :)
Saw Lenny Kravitz. Just cant go wrong with Lenny. Air conditioning not so awesome.
First time here and didnt know what to expect. Kinda weird for the show I saw but can see this being a great venue for a rave or something similar.
I went to the premiere of A Star Is Born which Im blessed to be in. The theatre is opulent and gorgeous and next to USC in a very nice area. Thank you to Bradley Cooper, Lady Gaga, Warner Bros and everyone who made this possible. Its a great venue, a great premiere, and a great film! Hope everyone enjoys #AStarIsBorn. You will laugh, cry and you will be shook. Im grateful to God I got to be in this film. Everyone in it is terrific. Great cast and crew! Love you all!
The building is beautiful. Parking was steps away. The Aretha! Grammy Celebration was fantastic.
Saw the one and only amazing David Byrne here the other week. It was wonderful and memorable
We saw AJR at the Shrine. Amazing place. Really nice that they let us, Im in a wheelchair, go up to the balcony. Great view!
I loved going into here for the AJR concert! It was well organized and it was fun seeing everything prepared and went smoothly. Definitely would go to concerts here again!
Really nice expo center. I saw a concert here and it was a great experience. Nice acoustics and plenty of space. Only complaint was the security, who displayed a complete lack of IQ.
Its big, its long. I wish there was more room up front. If you can brave the pit, there a lot of room up there.
I work as a Stagehand here for all the Goldenvoice events in the performance hall. As far as that particular section goes, the shows are always fantastic and have great energy. Sound is pretty good, considering standard auditorium reverb and echo issues. The rest of the Shrine Auditorium is as one would expect when walking through a 90-100 yr. old Los Angeles theatre.Classic mix of royal court meets golden age of hollywood. The mystic and slightly Masonic architecture style lends itself nicely to the Original Gangsta reputation that buildings of this caliber deservedly receive.Like the El Capitan, Pantages, Wiltern...its a fully functional Gem of LA
Parking could have been better, theatre has great seating and sound!
One of my favorite venues! Great neighborhood with excellent food choices. Inside the auditorium is spacious, but still feels cozy. Parking is easy with friendly parking attendants.
Awesome venue for concerts. I think you get a good view no matter where you seat. SHINEE was awesome !
I wouldnt recommend this place to anyone unless you like being harassed by their pathetic security. Their job is too keep people safe, not ruin peoples time because of the little bit of authority they are given. Ive been there twice and would not go back.
Ive been here before but Im seeing A World Away EKALI with Graves and Juelz for valentine day. Such a great venue. I mean its not the Royal Albert hall but its up there!
Its pretty freaking huge, Has interesting decor outside, however, it is surprisingly plain on the inside. This is probably due to how they do more than just concerts but it felt like an old school cafeteria in a way, like a school dance. I have been to other venues with character in and out. Once you get in the main hall all the character is gone but its really ok if the event is engaging enough.
This is a very beautiful and famous venue. I was in the loge for a concert and it was a great experience. Entering the building through security was relatively quick and painless. The ushers and rest of the staff are friendly and helpful. Of course expect to pay ransom prices for parking and drinks. There are metered parking on the streets that if you time it right, can save you a lot of money on parking.
Dont settle for the 50 dollar parking. Go around back and look for the 20 dollar parking. The sound was phenomenal. First rap concert with lots of bass. You could feel your noise vibrating. Not really any bad standing areas. I was able to see the stage good from where the sound guy setup.
Had a great time seeing Lenny Kravitz but the seats are small and too close together. Basically the place is historic and you have to appreciate that aspect but it also makes you appreciate when you go to a place thats been upgraded. They can really use, and benefit from, some upgrades.
Ive been only to one event here & that was Never Say Die! Decade of Dubstep! That place was LIT! I love the feel & style of this Venue!
Terrible acoustics here... Kind of an adolescent to young adult scene too... Not really my thing, even though the place probably deserves some props for being an old, classic venue.
First time here. It was a edm concert. Place is big and there are plenty of bars and staff. Located close to USC so its active. Fun place.
This venue seems pretty historical and as a result, they do not allow gum inside which makes sense as it could ruin the dance floor. The feel of this place is eerie which is amazing because you can feel the history of it and possible secret meetings/rituals that took place there in the past. With such a close location to USC, it seems like it would be great for touring artists who arent selling out stadiums/arenas but are selling out clubs. I was here for a band called The Ghost Inside, who played their first show since a fatal tour bus accident in November of 2015, and I think because the show was outside, it really prevented me from giving them 5 stars.
Saw Underoath and they were amazing.
More of a 3.5 because I always have a good time here. Drinks are expensive, parking is a joke, and neither of the three venues here (auditorium, hall, outdoors) are perfect but Ive never had a bad experience and the shows have always sounded good.
Shrine is definitely one of my favorite venues to go to for events. I went there once for Slander January 31, 2020 and once for Ekali February 14, 2020. Its easy to get around, easy to find parking, and the police close off the street after the event so you dont have any issues getting out. VIP ticketholders get to stand / sit upstairs on the 2nd level. The stage is high enough that people will be able to see the lighting effects if not the performer themself. The group I was with averaged around 56 and we all had a great time. You will be searched upon entry, so make sure you dont bring anything you shouldnt.
The brothers there were awesome. I attended Masons Night not too long ago I really enjoyed it. I cant wait to go back and visit oasis Masonic Lodge.
Great space for the Sephoria event but cooling was a difficult in the masterclasses. However, it was a really good location for a fun event. Parking was surprisingly available on the street for free on Sunday. I was very lucky and rather happy to keep my $20 in my pocket.
Got to see my two favorite artists and I met one! A bit crowded but really nice looking and had a blast!
Cool venue. Spacious theater seating. Lot of bar space. Orchestra pit is pretty small. Lot of restaurants and bars around the venue and possibility of street parking.
We recently went to the Lenny Kravitz Concert, what a beautiful venue. The way the seats are placed theres not a bad seat in the house.
I have seen Willie Nelson and have been to a Scientology event here at the Shrine. It is located on the USC campus. Its very beautiful inside an excellent venue for music events. Smoking section outside and lots of parking close by.
Great venue for concerts. There is metered street parking closer to campus in order to avoid the $10 to $20 parking lots at the venue.
Beautiful theatre. Nice architecture. Visited for the Bethesda Showcase and it felt very British inside. Reminded me of the theatres in the UK because of the cramped seats.
Watched Jeff Beck and John Mcgloughlin, 1975 or 76, seated very high but the the sound was good.
I saw Jauz there in February 7th! An insane show at an amazing venue. The shrine is big with a small venue feel. I cant wait to see Ekali February 14th here! See anyone at the shrine!
Love going to see concerts here.
Nice architecture. The seating is very narrow so if youre over 250lb you are going to be uncomfortable. The security staff were friendly. parking across the street with 25 bucks. A can of soda was $4. the view from the seats were awesome and the sound system was awesome. Awesome not meaning loud to make you death but very clear and distinct. The stage lighting was the best Ive seen.
Like most concert venues in L.A., the parking was very expensive at $20 a car, right across the street from the Shrine. A beer cost $12 which also was typically expensive of L.A. venues. What we really had a problem with was the moving building. We went to see Two Door Cinema Club and as soon as everybody started jumping up and down, the entire floor and building started moving. It was incredibly scary. Were assuming that the building is built to withstand that kind of shaking but regardless, I was worried it was going to collapse at any second and I know we werent the only ones concerned. Several others left the concert while we exchanged worried glances with others. My husband left the concert out of fear & anxiety and although he watched most of it from the corridor, an overly enthusiastic usher got very close to his face to tell him to move from the corridor which additionally soured his experience there. Although he tried to explain to the usher, he wouldnt listen & was adamant that he move even though it was the last song of the concert, which we missed since the usher wouldnt let us stay there. In summary, we wont be returning to the shrine & we hope bands we love do not hold their concerts there in the future.
I was here for a private party which included a presentation on stage plus a viewing of a few videos. Chairs were comfy and I enjoyed how pretty it was.
Had an amazing time watching the Aretha Franklin Grammy tribute show
Great Antique hall and awesome atmosphere for clash royale. In the middle of downtown great access from my home
Convenient parking and great historic venue...
Cool show and nice Location
Even though venue building is very old, they got a great hvac system! The concert was packed, a sold out show (5,000 people Max occupancy) and I had goosebumps through out night!shouldve brought a jacket
I had gone to the event 10 years of dubstep at 8 pm they stop mid show to tell us thank you for coming exits are over here and over there out have a good night . at 12am at night they gladly let zomboy finish his set and let the crowd stay till 2am
We saw AJR at the Shrine. Amazing place. Really nice that they let us, Im in a wheelchair, go up to the balcony. Great view!
Went to see Oh Wonder! Amazing Band and great venue
A beautiful auditorium with decent acoustics but the area has a lot of traffic on the downside.
The venue is nice and has plenty of room for shows. The security team they have, however are extremely rude. I understand they have to be thorough, but smelling eye drops? Really? Putting your nose on something I put in my eye? Not only that, but we were excited trying to get MCRs picks and setlist and they just started yelling at us to leave and pretty much kicked us out. We couldnt even take a picture with the My Chemical Romance banner in the back. So security guards that take your job waaaaayyy too seriously, youre not secret service Calm down.
Seems very historical! !. Easy parking structure and not too bad leaving. Park on the lowest floors if u wanna get out quicker! We were sweating a little. Ventilation could be better ..but we saw lenny Kravitz so we were dancing anyway...loved it!!!
I always have a great time at this venue. Though the logic of the security needs to improve. On my most recent visit staff finally opened 2 more lanes to the right and as Ive been waiting for 30+ min for my line to just move, Im watching late attendees get in with in 5 mins. The security in the first 3 lanes from the left were either lazy or being slow while throughly checking us through. I would just like to see some awareness when this stuff happens. But of course will be back time and time again for those headliners!!
This is a great music venue! They have non-sketchy event parking and the sound is amazing!! Plenty of space inside
1st time here and cant wait to return. Its a small place so anywhere you sit you get an excellent view of the stage.
Great place, good staff and the place has lots of room so if you are here for some kind of music you will have enough room to dance the night away.
Best major venue Ive been to since I moved to LA a year ago. They are VERY well organized, and know how to run concerts. The drink prices are actually quite reasonable, and the capacity is great!
I attended the Aretha Franklin tribute. It was an amazing show and all the seats were pretty good. I sat in Orchestra right. The show itself was very well-produced. During commercial breaks they showed videos of Aretha Franklin performances. It was really touching. Smokie Robinsons speech was the best. It was also great to have Tyler Perry announce many of the performances. However the staff they hired for this event were either super cool or super rude. No in between. I needed help finding my seat and when I asked one of the ushers she told me to find it myself. Then I asked another Usher. She walked me over to where my seat was only to find that someone was sitting in it and took me to another section where she knew seats were available and were better than what Id purchased. In the end it worked out. Parking was $25 but thats LA for you.
Expect to stand abd get squeezed if a popular artist . Great acoustics and lighting.
Shrine looks quite nice on the exterior, however, the interior is a different story. The inside looks a bit rundown and old. It feels like a large high school gym. The toilets in the bathroom werent working properly as well. I probably wont return to this venue since it is directly across the street from USC which draws a large crowd of drunk college students to these events lol. Parking wasnt too bad which was the only good thing about this venue.
Graduation day! Of course it was memorable, it was my son graduation from USC School of Cinematic Arts!
Had an amazing time. Staff was great, security was perfect and the show was AWESOME. weve seen Rezz and Tchami and Malaa here. 10/10 cant wait to come back!
It is such a beautiful building. And it is owned by people who have such incredible motives.
This place is huge and really nice I enjoyed my night here
I mean the venues nice and $3 water isnt bad, but security is pretty rude at this venue and very strict, I also dont like how all the events end pretty early at like 12 or 1 at the latest compared to other venues in LA
It was a great event for kids. The LASD Band helped the Shriners with their music and played while everyone was enjoying the event.
