Very diverse & very scenic! A little more peacefully quiet, depending on what day it is, more relaxing for everyone, as well as all of the ducks, birds, dogs, deer, & other animals in the area disturbed by loud motor boat & boom box noise, which also makes children cranky. Less motorboats on the lake in this area on slow days, water nice & calm for swimming, great beach-like area. Particularly clear & pretty water here, on slow days, when motor vehicles are not decreasing water clarity. A long, curvy drive, with hilly inclines, but worth it!
I always ride past and its gorgeous. I wish COVID closures would end so we could all go back and support our wonderful state parks.
We were pleasantly surprised by this park and all it had to offer. The campsites are pretty basic, but they are spread out and well protected from the wind. Pleanty of trees to hang hammocks from. Also, their free -standing grills were pretty nice for a campsite like this. $15 / vehicle and they take cash/check only.
Check this Place, Yo! I’ve slept here 10 times and during the weekdays I’m the only one. Day trippers come out to boat and swim but they are always wonderful and happy to be away from the city and the people as well. Dog friendly. $15 campsites. Clean Restrooms! Great Campsites! Close to the lake nearest campsite is a 5 minute walk to lake. Also had a great time meeting the Ranger who worked Tuesday/Wednesday and saved my shoes when I left them there! Thanks Nicole!
Still closed. But Travis County Parks still manages to pay an offfical to man the gate on a Sunday afternoon, and threaten people with trespassing
Not good for swimming access. Very rocky and 10$ day fee. Parking? Meh. pretty view once you get down there. Good for hiking and probably for fishing. Lime creek road was an interesting drive that had a great view at one point. Lots of bikers on that road, scares me because there isnt a lot of room for bicycles and vehicles on that road. Thought maybe there would be more sand than rocks because its in the name. Not really. But like I said good for hiking and sitting in the sun. Maybe for camping too. Had to hike a bit to get to the water (climb down rocky steps) but the lady at the front was polite and even gave us a map of the park so we could find our way.
One of my favorite campsites!
Nice campsites are a little brushy which allows a sense of privacy. Nice swimming area. Close.
I absolutely love this park. Great primitive camping with access to swimming, fishing and hiking.
Great spot to hang and take a dip
A well maintained site, easy access and boat launching possible.Bbq areas, remember to bring some charcoal! There are toilet blocks, you may want to bring your own toilet paper if you need a number 2.Staff friendly. The entry booth for some reason is not on the drivers side on the way in.The drive is very scenic on the way in, watch your speed on the bends as some are tighter than you may think!
Has been closed since April 2020. Our taxes are not reduced but services are gone. While bars are open, parks are closed.
Is a good place to visit I like it
Great place to watch the sunset! Boat launch is clear of hazards and accessible with ample parking for trailers.Camping is OK (as long as the growl of hi performance motorcycles and cars racing by are your idea of a lullaby/alarm clock)Fishing is good here as well.Wildlife like coyote, fox, and racoons are seen often, crane and other birds can be seen at the waters edge as well.Overall a small park with a lot to offer.
Really really liked this place and very cheap. We were here to ride some jet skins and had a blast. The only reason why its not 5 stars is the area to swap out riders was tough to get through and I would like a easier path to bring stuff down from the cars. Will be going again, great place.
Beautiful little gem on Lake Travis. I love going here to hangout with some friends and occasionally watch the sunset. Admission is $10/car.
Work....Not open
Fun place to go
Nice park with lots of awesome hiking
Off the beaten path!! Campsites are spread out pretty well so you are not camping on top of each other. Only $5 to camp. Beautiful!!
My Family and I love this place. We live in Floresville and will come and stay the weekend and camp out as much as we can. We wish we had electricity but hey with a quite generator your all good. We love the water and the friendliness of the staff and everyone who goes there. Cant wait to go again. Last time we were there left my brand new phone in the restroom. The person who found it placed it under the little trash can in there called my sis and let her know if she could call and let me know that they had put it there. THANK YOU TO THE HONEST PERSON WHO DID THAT.
Great little place to get away from the city for a bit. Campgrounds are nice, and you have a fair bit of space between you and the next one, unlike some places that stack you on top of each other. Having access to the water is a huge plus.
Spent a night camping there, great (and clean!) facilities for a primitive park. Shoreline has some really good looking fishing spots. Cant wait to go back.
Great views of the lake. Excellent for swimming when the lake isnt empty. Can get crowded. For day use only. Outstanding place to take a pit stop on those Sunday morning motorcycle rides.
Rocky entry. Wear water shoes. Otherwise awesome! Can have a bubch of boaters ball over, which creates surf
Its a pretty decent place.
Still closed due to covid.
The place is awesome. Careful in the water its got some sharp rocks in it.
Great camping and, good prices.
Very nice park and they got love for their nations veterans thank you for the hospitality
Been coming here for the last two years good close to austin Camping
Fantastic rustic campsites just outside of Austin/Cedar Park area. Clean facilities and campsites. Picnic table and grill (theyre nice heavy duty). Most of the time empty except for boaters taking their boats in or out of the water.
Great camping and clean restrooms busy on weekends especially the boat ramp which is pretty decent, Id suggest adding a dock as its a pretty tedious process launching a boat imo hence why I left a 3 star review.
One of the better and less crowded boat launches on Travis. Easy to manuever your boat though the ramp can occasionally get slick if you have a heavy boat and 2WD as weve seen some cars struggle.
Parking can be kinda difficult otherwise its wonderful here.
This place was awesome. Its a little small compared to Pace Bend but youre close to the water and the camping spots are nice. Some are much bigger than others.
Great scenic spot for a day trip. Like others have said there is hardly any sand and just a lot of rocks. Bring shoes and sunscreen. The water is perfect for a hot day though. The navigation can be a bit tricky to get there.
Camping grounds are the best. Cleanest primitive camping experience ever, clean bathrooms (with toilet paper and hand sanitizer), various water spits, 2 big dumpsters.Plus their grills are the cleanest grills Ive ever used. I highly recommend this place if you wanna do some good, clean, primitive camping.
Great beach, dog friendly. Some irresponsible owners dont clean up after their dogs so watch your step. There was lots of boat activity that created fun waves but stirred up the water so you cant see the big rocks, so be careful. There is no shade along the beach so make sure to bring your own. The beach is sand and rocks, water shoes are not necessary but I would recommend them.
Veterans camp freeVery well kept/clean restroomVeterans camp freeClose to home
It could be a nice place, but traffic and asphalt ruin a good park.
Hunted, lots of spiders, and hornet bees. Does have camping access on the water front. Does have restrooms but no showers. Not normally busy. Can have rude and simple people working at the ticket entry building. Cops do roll through at night to check on people who didnt pay and are trying to party or do drugs or whatever the hell people in the woods at night while not camping.
Interesting spot this time while the water in the lake is law the deep altitude fall of the beach floor exposed sand and rock formations early covered with water. A good descent and climb for the healthy and strong. Exposed nice half a mile coast line. Rest the park are isolated and forested bbq and camping lots. The boat ramp also has a big angle and not built to serve multiple users at once. The water pump facilities left the park shows up quite ugly, but we need them too ...
Good place to put in during the week.
Not too crowded. Perfect
VERY PRIMITIVE. There is NOT sand here so dont let the name fool you. Please bring shoes. There are rocks everywhere. I probably wont come back here. There are definitely better options in austin. The place isnt terrible. Its just a pain in the butt to figure everything out. If you do get there then just go a head and set up tent and wait till in the morning and the people will come around and collect from you the next day.
Quiet when we visited. Note that there is basically no beach, with lots of rocks, so be aware. Its also not real accessible but to be able to float and relax in peace is not to be discounted.
Easily my Fave place to go to the lake. Would get 5 stars when the water levels are normal but 4 when low because it is SUPER rock. No beach area. BUT in return there is a max of maybe 4 people out here all the time and the water is deep and cold!
Went on a spontaneous last minute camping trip. Came here. Set up. Nice and quiet at night. Nice views
Great quite place to relax with friends and family. Shallow waters great for kids
Raised annual fees to launch boat! $175Dont even have a light or trash cans at ramp.
Its a hike to the water but overall good place.
Great place to go with the family
Nice park but the waters way down the shores very Rocky and there were a few too many kids partying
My serenity. Have tried several times to leave but,, But still available, and loving the creek
Really Rocky so bring a few comfy towels/blankets. Broken GLASS everywhere. Water shoes def needed.
NO WATER ANYWHERE! Really friendly staff but unless you want to hike down a cliff for 10 mins there is no water at all and the boat ramp is closed. Just an FYI we drove all the way out there to find out the hard way.
Not much shade along the water but nice and clean.
There are a few spots to camp right on the water. Cant beat that.It was nice n quiet mid-week for camping, and easy to get to.
Wonderful place to spend with family
Could be nice if it wasnt $10 to just walk around
The park is confusing. But we had a good time.
Nice park if you enjoy swimming near a water treatment facility.
Nice small park with boat launch and camping spots
Enjoyed our time here.
A nice park on Lake Travis that very few people know about. It has cool sunsets to watch from the shoreline.
So beautiful and fun. We hated to leave.
Best camping on the lake ever! Just abide by the quiet hours otherwise the game warden will come.
It was beautiful, but very hard hike to the water.
Its a small park. Not many spaces. Quiet and convenient.
This place was amazing very nice view. Small crowds
It is not Sandy nor is it a Creek. Good secluded fairly unpopular spot to hit up the lake
Boat ramp is open, camping spot looks great, but forget about swimming like bob wentz the beach was recover by trees which are now under water. 07/15
There is no shade down by the water, but a lovely place to hop in for a swim
There is no water sadly. When it had water it was a great little park on the north side. It has camping. There is a ranger on duty.
Was there for a party boat it was a good time
I enjoy my time there
Boat ramp could use some work. Its cockeyed, so when the water gets low, its very difficult to back dow.
Warm water and not overcrowded. May have to come back and campout one day.
Nice place to camp boat and picnic.
A nice park to catch sunsets! If you choose the right time, its pretty quiet too.
Pictures dont do it justice.
Stayed in a tent in Feb. could not complain.
Awesome place for camping.
Its a park on waterfront.
Nice park with a boat ramp.
Very relaxing
Place to get rid of brush and dead trees. Runs about 15 bucks for a pick up load.
Lovely and out of the way.
Nice park, but a little expensive to visit. Seems like a hidden treasure near Austin.
Always have fun.
I dont like that place...
Wonderful park with friendly staff
It was very clean
Go now! The water levels are high and the park is clean. 10 dollars to gut in.
Bad...
Great place to camp, swim, picnic, and fish
Nice place to swim
