Beautiful area. I went in November and the temperature was conducive to doing a variety of hikes and exploration without any extreme heat. Timed entry started. Wasnt a bad process... however if there is a popular hike you plan on doing .. parking still might be an issue if youre not there early. Visitor center was closed due to covid.
For annual pass holders (e.g. America the Beautiful Pass) attempting to make an entry time reservation online or through the app, Recreation.gov does waive the $15.00 vehicle fee for America The Beautiful pass holders and for people who would have the annual pass for Red Rock Canyon National Park.To have the fee waived you would need to add the timed entry into your cart, once added youll be taken to the Order Details page. On this page there will be the ticket holder details, which would be the customers first and last name along with the Country of residence, state and zip code. Below the ticket holder information there is an option to Apply a Pass where there is a green button that says Add a Pass. You would click on the Add a Pass button and would be provided with 3 options which are as follows: My pass has not arrived, or I plan on purchasing a pass upon arrival, I have an annual site pass at this location, I have an Interagency annual or lifetime pass(when selecting this option you would need to select the pass type that you would have).Once you would select one of 3 above mentioned options you would scroll down and agree to the Need to Know information and then procced to hit the Proceed to Cart button. Once you are in the shopping cart you will see that you are only being charged the $2.00 reservation fee.Enjoy your outdoor adventure, and respect the land!
We spent about 3 hours here, as we were on a personal time limit. The views were absolutely gorgeous, and loved to slightly climb the mountain (ran out of light), and took many pictures. I got a few things from the visitor center to take home to Arkansas, including the music disc they were playing. Man, this place would be a great zen place, or somewhere to relax. If only I had more time, that would have been amazing.
Beautiful scenery. Entrance fee for standard vehicle $15 for the day. We went during labor day weekend and you pay the entrance fee and they give you a map. If you plan to stay all day please bring enough water and stay hydrated. Definitely recommend the 1st stop and walking down the trail to get beautiful photos. Definitely worth the visit and definitely recommend.
A beautiful natural space! The scenic loop drive is a great tourist drive to do if you are visiting and would like to experience the desert. Colorful and unique rock formations along the drive, with a visitors center that has local desert tortoises. For the Vegas locals there are many trailheads and different parts of the park to try hiking or biking depending on where you live closest to without paying the $15 for the loop drive.
If your in Vegas and love the outdoors, Red Rock Canyon is a must see for all ages and skill level(s)! Some sections are even wheelchair friendly! You can rock climb, hike, bike, run, stargaze, watch the sunset or take the scenic route drive.Just be sure to bring water and wear a hiking shoe with good tread. And don’t forget.....Have fun!
I recently reviewed Red Rock Canyon and included it on my list of the Best of Nevadas Parks. I give a thorough review on there, so be sure to check that out. I think one of the things I love most about Red Rock is how close it is to Las Vegas and Clark County. Its also one of the most beautiful state parks in my opinion. This is a must see when you visit Las Vegas. Red Rock has an abundance of trails for biking or hiking. Photo opportunities to get that perfect selfie or sunset and more. Dont skip this.
Beautiful park, amazing boulders to play with and the colors during sunsets are breathtaking
Beautiful area to visit and get away from Las Vegas. Want to visit when have more time to hike some of the many trails. Was cool they had a bike station for cycling. Was bummed to not see any wildlife. Few birds, a rabbit, and a antelope squirrel was all we saw.
Awesome views and great hiking trails within a 30 minute drive from the Las Vegas Strip! Highly recommend if you have some time to check this beautiful place out.
I cant get enough of Red Rock Canyon. There is always some place to try, some new trail to navigate, some rock to free solo. I just find it so wonderful based on the time of day, the type of weather, the timing of sunrise or sunset. Just an EPIC adventure and must see!
This is a must see when you.go to Vegas, assuming you have a car. This 17 mile scenic drive includes multiple scenic spots to stop and take photos and/or hike. They rate the difficulty of the trails, so everyone can do something. Make sure you bring water and sunscreen. I also personally wish I had some hiking boots but I got by in my tennis shoes.
This place was just beautiful. We checked out the rock climbers this time and it was very well organized with climbers climbing right next to each other while others waited for their turns patently.
Wonderful get away from the city. Breathtaking views, clean air, nice day trip
Simply Beautiful Breathtaking Red Rock Mountains will take inspire you to walk, hike or climb and explore this natural gift splendor for your senses. There is a $15 dollar entrance fee but it is well worth all the places you can explore. Or even if you just enjoy the scenic drive its a marvelous place to escape the Vegas strip and enjoy the serenity.
Great national park off the strip that is a hidden treasure. It’s great for hiking or just walking around. It has a long paved road that allows you to view the entire park in case it is too hot for you or if you have passengers for which physical activities are too much. There are a few spots to sit and enjoy the view. Also, you will not find much shade so be prepared.
Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area is a wonderful place of natural beauty. You can take photos and spend your best time here. Institute of performing art and mind power development is excited to find this interesting place!
The mountain is so beautiful. The hiking was smooth. If you are not used to hiking take it easy and bring enough water to keep hydrated. Its an experience worth your time and breath. The air is so clean and the view is so beautiful.
Amazing views!!! It is a tiny hike but an average person should be able to handle it amazing views as far as your willing to go
Beautiful nature park and not a far drive to get to. Highly recommend if you are in Vegas for a few days but be sure to book a reservation.
You gotta go here!! A 20-25 minute drive through Summerlin from the strip. Once there you’ll pay a small entrance fee, they give you a map and you drive through 13 miles of the most beautiful scenery. Lots of stops along the way to get out and take pictures, hike or be an adrenaline junkie and climb one of those big red rocks. You can walk/run/bike just be prepared for the heat depending on the time of year with water etc. Look closely you’ll see lots of crazy people rock climbing, very cool. We’ve been here many times and the beauty is just as breathtaking as the last visit.
Got there just before they closed so I could only drive though but the sunset time in this park is just stunning. Ill have to come back to look at everything in the daylight and do some hiking. This and Valley of Fire are both amazing places if you like rocks, pretty scenery and being outside. Easy day trip from Vegas
It was pretty chilly when we got there but Red Rock is a site for many things.
Super nice natural beauty. If you want to find a chill natural park, O strongly recommend here for you.
Red Rock Canyon at Las Vegas NV is not a huge park. The circle by car is not more than 13 Miles. But the Park has beautiful view points, with parking lots. So if you want to have a look at the park a bit more deeper just leave your car at the parking area and start your own expedition on the trails.
A hidden gem! I don’t know why I hadn’t heard of it before. It is a stone throw distance away from Vegas and makes for a perfect day trip. The place is very simple, there is a one way scenic loop drive with several stops. We decided to do one trail, the Calico Tanks. While the whole trail was beautiful, the surprise was at the end, beyond the last sign of the post. It is a high point from where you can see far far away including the red Calico hills, and Vegas. If you have a National Park pass, they accept it here.
All I can say folks is the pictures may seem beautiful, but they pale in comparison to the Justice that truly should be served to this beautiful place for us to experience.
Had a great time rock climbing out here. Lots of routes for all ability levels. Beautiful scenery and shady areas to relaxed in out of the sun while our group climbed. One of my favorite places in the Las Vegas area. Bring plenty of water, can be hot and dry, this is the desert after all.
Beautiful location of natural beauty. You can drive thru our stop at points of interest every so often. Pretty cool place
Recently had my first experience with the Grand Canyon and the Pink Jeep tour I highly recommend. When we come back and bring our 8 children we will do the Pink Jeep tour again. Our guide was very knowledgeable and the stories we received was amazing .
My first Real Hike, Nothing compared to anything Ive ever seen. I was in awe of all the amazing views. I wish I had more energy to go farther. I spent about 4 hours for my very first visit here. I completed the moderate hike, Calico I & II. I recommend sun block & Lots of Water! (Frozen, not in your car, otherwise the walk back would drain you even more).
What a wonderful place to visit and see all the beautiful landscape and charm of this mountain desert area!A must see at any time of the year! A bit warm in the summer months bring lots of water! Trails are really fun but can be a of a real workout!
Amazing views, calm and majestic - a perfect place for nature exploration or a peaceful drive. Worth it all day long!
My friend brought me there, we went with her decapotable. What at stunning place! You must go see this park, if you are in Las Vegas.
This place is Amazing. Words just cant describe and the pictures do no justice
It was just about 13 miles drive with few stops in between. Great for quick refreshment if you are in Vegas. The landscape is fantastic. There are options for hiking as well as for rock climbing if you are interested. Or just a Scenic drive is also satisfying. Watch out for extreme hot temperatures and carry water with you. I didnt use the restroom so no idea about how they are. Beautiful scene for taking pictures. Also download an offline Google map as there wont be any signals in the area. Have fun!
Great views and hiking trails. Well definitely be back to take the unmaintained road.
Had no clue this was in Vegas! Great views of different rock formations. Make sure to do the scenic route. Youll come across some great trails.
What a beautiful place so much to see it is a lot bigger than it appears bring lots of water and dont get lost
Beautiful scenery with a good mix of trails. Make sure to wear sunscreen and sunglasses. Short drive from the Las Vegas strip that can be seen in as short as half an hour or a whole day. I highly recommend a visit while in Las Vegas.
Really good place to drive through or hike. My family really enjoyed this park, but Valley of Fire State Park is better.
Im lucky to live in Las Vegas, and get to enjoy the beautiful scenery at Red Rock all the time. I never get tired of it. The colors and textures tell of the past. You can hike, climb, ride your bike or just take a drive. There are easy hikes, to get your heart pumping scrambling. And if youre lucky, you might even get to see a desert tortoise crossing the road
Great climbing area.Reservations required if you enter after 8am
Beautiful place right outside Las Vegas, close to the campground of the same name. We have a 10 year old boy and we had a blast climbing on the beautiful red rock formations. We went early in the morning or at the end of the day.
A beautiful, accessible bit of nature very close to the sights of Las Vegas. Really its the best part of Vegas. Great for hiking, running, biking, leisurely strolls, or a pleasant afternoon drive. Its definitely worth the entrance fee. But if you want a taste of Red Rocks without the fee, stop at Calico Rocks just before the entrance to the main visitor center for almost as much beauty at no cost.
Amazing place, wish I had more time to see everything!
Absolutely beautiful American land here! Did some hiking with some friends to the black corridor where we did some rock climbing. $15 entry worth every penny. 10/10 would recommend to anyone that loves outdoor adventures!
Gorgeous 13-mile drive with many vehicle pull-offs and hiking-trail opportunities. Nice guide map provided at the gate, where you will pay the usual $15 fee, which should be discounted because the visitor center is closed (summer, 20).
Great experience. The area is bigger than expected so it takes some times to drive through. There are several nice places to take good pictures and have a walk around. Some guys are climbing the rocks. I dont know if youll need a permission / license for that. You have to be there at least one hour before sunset to have a chance to take good pictures on some locations.
There are some of the most breathtaking views near the Las Vegas area, plenty of wildlife to experience if youre lucky enough and pay attention for it, also there are plenty of rock climbing mounts spread through out! Ive included some pictures near Devils Bridge (to the left of girl scout trail; there is not a trail leading this way. If you are not experienced or prepared for a bit of bouldering and narrow hiking, dont venture trying to find it!) The bridge itself is amazing to be seen. Red rock has all sorts of hidden gems like this!!! I urge you to go find one at Red Rock
Too many people. It used to be a nice place. People dont stay on the trails. It is simple to follow some simple rules to preserve the place. Thank you to those who do.
Timed Entry means that there is less overcrowding. The Red Rock National Conservation Area is beautiful. Hike, walk, rock scramble, rock climb or just sightsee the choice is yours. I had a wonderful visit.
Id definitely recommend the red Rock canyon over the Grand canyon! The scenic drive is gorgeous with a ton of stops and trails along the way. The trails are really beautiful, although some signs are contradictory (different trail lengths and difficulties). Also, some trails are not on the map that you receive when entering. The place is great for hiking tho! Just remember to bring enough water, its super hot there. You have a lot of trail choices, going from short 1-3hr trails to 6-10hr.
What an amazing, drive with spectacular views and wonderful trails. A beautiful option for some fresh air and to get away from the strip for a bit. This should definitely be at the top of your list if you are an nature or photography enthusiast
The Red Rock Canyon is just 20 minutes from the Las Vegas Strip. The beauty of this place is breathtaking to witness from the flight when the flight lands in Vegas airport. The Red Rock Canyon is a loop drive with multiple spots to park the car and take photos. One can take the trails and do some hiking as well. The roads are well maintained, the parking spots are ample. Please keep water and Sun screen in handy as it is hot even in December.
Its was very nice to get out and do some trail blazing. The trail was marked well during the day and night. There is a small water hole and sometimes a waterfall depending on if it has been raining or not. Just follow the trail until you get to the first big tree, turn right, and walk about 100 yards or so. Early morning and just before dusk is the best time to go.
Really gorgeous geology, if youre into that. Be prepared for hot dry conditions. There are some short trails, and longer ones for those who are well prepared. There are also guided cart tours at the parking area. Be sure you check the visitors center out for information about the geology, plants, and wildlife that call this terrain home. And if you bring things with you, make sure to not litter.
Awesomely beautiful place to hike or climb. Went to Calico Basin and did some climbing. Very quiet place to climb, off the beaten path. Hike in is a bit long, but well worth the effort.
Really, really, really beautiful. If you are in town and looking to escape the city, this is pretty high up on the list of what to do.Bring your bike!!
I’ve hike up Ice Box Canyon twice now, once with dogs and once without them. It is easy going in the beginning but it does get rough as you work your way through the canyon. The temperature is cooler than it is in the city but it is definitely a hike you should do in the earlier part of the day. There were a few hikers but not too crowded like Turtle Head.
Great introductory trails for hiking and exploring some of the canyons out west. This is a short drive from Las Vegas and a great addition to any trip out that way. While you can drive through, I highly recommend getting out of the car and exploring some of the trails. Some are easy, others more challenging, but all are fun. Bring comfortable but rugged shoes and drink plenty of water - it gets very hot in this canyon
Traveled here after visiting another local attraction and I must say it is a sight to see!My boyfriend and I traveled here and did a Vlog on YouTube about it while traveling. If you would like to see it our YouTube is “The Jeep and The Stang”.Overall such an amazing view!!
If youre in the area, check it out a very good drive with lots of options for camping
Near Kraft mountain there is girl scout trail which has some super cool spots to check out eat relax.
Interesting geology at Red Rock. The colors and rock formations remind me of Zion Canyon in Utah but Red Rock has its own character and vibe. Great hiking trails and awesome views make this a place to visit more than once.
Great rock for climbing. Well organized, beautiful area.
We took a 6-year old and two 3-year olds with us here. We managed two short hikes on the scenic trail with them. The kids were so excited when we found the lost creek, which had running water in it, even in mid June. We saw tadpoles and a lizard, and the kids had a blast, even the one who was too hot and her legs hurt 10 steps into the trail! The visitor center is small, but nice. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The bathrooms just outside the visitor center doors are nice but hard to notice.
Love this place! Visually stunning and the climbing amazing. Cant wait to go back in the Spring.
Amazing place to hang out and relax after crazy Las Vegas. The access costs 15 dollars for a car. There is a visitor center, and scenic driveway around rocky terrain, with multiple viewpoints and astonishing views. Also, there are plenty of hiking trails, some of which can be finished in a day trip and some might take few days. Open any time of year, we went in January and it was fine, not too cold, not too hot.
Great views 20 mins off the strip
The scenic drive is a great place to get a stimulating bike ride! The first half is quite challenging and the second half has many enjoyable downhill sections.
Beautiful. Highly Recommend. Best part of my Las Vegas Vacation. Reasonable priced.
This place is breathtaking! The amount of photo opportunities was infinite. No matter how quick you go through the curvy roads (which is all one way and freshly paved) or how slow you want to stretch your day, this place is a MUST for any Vegas travelers. We mainly went to drive and see the scenery but the hiking trails looked exceptional.
Beautiful place to recharge. Its clean and well maintained. Just wish some of the trails had more parking spaces.
Theres 2 places in the Greater Las Vegas Area I like to go to for a moment of clarity. The Wetlands Park and Red Rock Canyon! Lets keep them clean for the critters!
In 1967, the Bureau of Land Management designated 40 km2 as the Red Rock Recreation Lands. In 1973, the U.S. House of Representatives subcommittee on Federal Conservation Areas held a special hearing in the Foley Federal Office Building in downtown Las Vegas to review a legislative resolution sponsored by Nevadas lone Congressman David Towell (R-NV) to establish the Red Rock Conservation Area by transferring Federal land to the State of Nevada. Testimony in favor of the bill was given by the Sierra Club and a high school student and environmental activist, Dennis Causey. The Subcommitee unanimously approved the resolution sending it to the full Committee on the Interior and subsequently to the full House followed by favorable action by the U S. Senate and approval by President George H. Bush. Further legislation in 1990 to changed the status of the Red Rock Recreation Lands to a National Conservation Area, a status that also provides funds to maintain and protect it. The Federal area was adjacent to the Red Rock State Park. The Howard Hughes Corporation, developer of Summerlin, has transferred land adjacent to the protected area, to provide a buffer between development and the conservation area. On the west side, Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area is adjacent to the Spring Mountains National Recreation Area.
For the past 6 years Ive been visiting the park it has been very well maintained, clean and they upgraded the parking areas, road, and bathrooms. I love it. Best to visit October- March
Place was amazing and the hike up there was a challenge for a fat boy like me but once I accomplished what I had to do there peace was in me at all times beautiful place I recommend anyone to live there
Amazing views!!! Trails range from light to extreme challenge. Theres a restroom and tables for eating. Plenty of parking.
Nice way to spend an afternoon. Not far from Vegas and small enough that you can see the whole thing! Loved it!
Love the scenic route just to take a long drive or stop at calicoe trail with the kids or a little further you can pay $15 dollars an take the long way with a lot of trails for the older groups
Amazing place! The drive itself is ok, but you need to get out and hike to see the true beauty.
Red Rock Canyon is a must see when visiting Vegas. The views are incredible and the hiking is a great time for everyone!
Absolutely gorgeous. Beautiful red colored rocks and desert landscapes. Took a tour with Vegas Desert Tours and they were great. Wish we had more time to walk around and explore but will go back in the future with a car so we can explore at our leisure.
If you have never been and you are staying local or in Las Vegas it is most definitely worth the drive. There is no fees for entering or parking. When entering go by visitor center first to check out gift shop, read about the history of the tribe that use to live there and the park rangers can give you better instructions on the areas to go to. You will drive your car through the canyon and there is different stops along the way you can stop and get out.
Honestly, there are a lot of wonderful trails here outside the fee area. I go here regularly, it is amazing having such incredible hiking so close to home. Just watch out for the big horn sheep November to January (mating season) I had one run so fast right toward me about a week ago and it was terrifying but also awesome to see such a large big horn sheep so close!
Amazing place. Explore the hikes, climb the rocks.. enjoy the view...this place is awesome
Nice scenic drive just outside of Vegas. The colors of the mountains are definitely worth leaving the city for a bit. Has wild donkeys walking through the park and at one of the spots there were a lot of Chipmunks running around.
I love this place to be honest it one of the most beautiful Canyons and West America and it is really close to the amazing las vegas which is only a few minutes away for this location. This place is amazing just to go on a small walk or camp for a few days here as well. There are soo many thing to explore and many other things to see here in the canyon. I 100% recommend this place to anyone that want to go here.
Fantastic time. Be safe and bring water and food. Try the water at La Madre Spring; very good water.
Need a photographer for your wedding? This is a great place to take photos! Check me out, LorenzoSamdoval.com
One of the most beautiful parks Ive been to. Fair price to enter, theres a scenic drive and several hiking trails to choose from. Picnic area was full of adorable desert squirrels.
This is always a great place to visit, any time of the year. Especially during sunrise or sunset, absolutely beautiful.
It is about 15 miles (24 km) west of Las Vegas, and is easily seen from the Las Vegas Strip. More than two million people visit the area each year.
Great little hi, Lisa just taking kids and dogs here..
Refreshing. Beautiful. Peaceful.Great trails. Good selection at the visitors center.
Absolutely beautiful, easy parking, clean trails, nice people....what more can you ask?!
